Not so much in the trunk, maybe attached to a tow bar. I have seen a unit on a trailer, running a Chrysler. The long pipe from the trailer unit feeding the carb went over the cabin of the car and dropped into the engine bay through the bonnet (hood) and was also the cooling for the gas. The device was started with a vacuum cleaner to create the draft. Took about 15mins to get rolling in the morning. Ran on a very clean coal.I have seen a WW2 unit on the running board of a Ford. Made from a couple of fire extinguishers.Look for "Water Gas". This is producer gas on steroids, much more hydrogen, about the same energy as petrol. We had a fuel shortage in New Zealand back in the '80's, a lot of people reinvented this tech. It works.

Nice cooler, I particularly like the easy cleaning of the wort line. I would suggest the adventurous try sil-fos instead of solder. You would need MAP gas or hotter (acetylene), but the end result is lead-free and brazing with sil-fos is much easier to work with than soldering.
