The latest images should not need drivers on Windows 10 or 8, but anything older will. unfortunately I have not been using my BBB due to internet connectivity problems, so have not have had a ton of experience since publishing.
The instructions are for a Windows computer, but everything is possible to do on a Linux machine, I just don't have a computer with Linux on it, only a virtual machine. I know you can SSH from the terminal, as well as formatting and burning the SD card, too, I just don't know the exact command to do so. For drivers, Linux shouldn't need any, but there is some "udev rules" available on the website: http://beagleboard.org/getting-started I will also try to, at some point, update this Intructable, since there were some changes with the release of new images. If I can get Linux running on something, I will add the information for it. Thanks
