Tink63, we built our house and knew that our spindles were strictly decorative; removing them was not a problem as they were not load-bearing. I can't speak to whether or not your spindles are load-bearing, but a local builder or carpenter should be able to answer that question for you.

Great reminder. I do leave plenty of seed heads and pop also am always looking for friends to share seeds with since I have plenty at the end of every growing season.

Luckily, chefspenser, I found spray paint in practically the identical brown. I painted the light fixtures and furniture in a close complimentary brown color for a little different appearance.

This meal works great as a vegetarian option, too, acoens. Just omit meat, use vegetable broth, and add a few more veggies and spices to ramp up the flavor. I've had good luck making it meatless and the dumplings are always delcious!
