For what it's worth, I have this book and it has a lot of good information. It's a little dated (He uses a 1992 Ford Ranger) so I'm sure the battery and controller technology has changed, but there's a lot of good info (and math!) about HP and torque and figuring out what you need ahead of time.https://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Own-Electric-Veh...There are newer books available, but I can't speak to them.

I've thought about that also. Two diesel powered wheels in the front and one electric powered wheel in the rear.Just now I followed the link to the Mechanics Illustrated plans posted above by Steinzel: https://www.rqriley.com/tm.html. (Which I remember from going through my dad's MI at the time) Along the side is a link for the XR3 https://www.rqriley.com/xr3.htm. Seems to be exactly what I was thinking. It also looks familiar, so I think I saw it, forgot about it, then came up with the idea on my own.
