For additional sweetness, have you tried adding an artificial sweetner that is made for cooking, such as Sucralose? The sweetness per amount of sweetner is usually much greater than sugar without adding much more "mass" to the recipe and shouldn't affect the chemistry involved very much, if at all. I am suggesting adding the artificial sweetner, not substituting because that would definitely change the chemistry involved.

Here's a tool I wrote that does the same thing, only it hides the file in the actual pixels of the image.https://sourceforge.net/projects/hallucinate/I haven't updated it in a while, so not all of the quality settings may work, but you can give it a try. I'm also working on the next step in the project which is an app that provides a lot more features, which is why this project has been put on hold. It will be called "MyVate" which is a combination of "My" and "Private". Look for it next year in the app stores.
Have you considered adding progressively smaller / concentric rings that are out of phase to add a depth component? Basically, once rotating, it would be a sphere within a sphere within a sphere, etc.. Each smaller but still visible because they are out of phase with the others. This would allow the creation of images that had depth to them. For example you could have mountains and valleys in your globe.
