View Instructable »I have no idea. Check out what pins can be used for software serial on your mega. I never used a mega since the uno so far does everything I need.

Yes you can. Look at this code and change the numbers.SoftwareSerial mySerial(2, 3); //RX, TXnumber 2 and 3 are the pin numbers

Hi,I have no experience with the duo. You need to look the documentation on that board and see what pins you can use for software serial. Hope that helps.

It has nothing to do with the modules but with the Arduino code.Arduino Serial has a timeout set to 1 second. To change this you can add a bit of code in your setup.void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); mySerial.begin(9600); Serial.setTimeout(10);//set timeout to 10 milliseconds mySerial.setTimeout(10);//set timeout to 10 milliseconds }Don't go to low with your timeout. 20 is usually ok for transmitting small bundles of data.
