Just sent this Instructable to 3 dads I know who are electricians/electrical engineers. What a great rainy day project to do with your kids! Thanks for this one.

These are great-looking stools. I'd love to see a manufacturer buy your design and recycle a lot of plastic making these stools!

I love that you made this for your grandchildren! I might call it a Very Busy Box, though. It might be sensory overload to have so many things on it. Is there a way to put less things on each panel, but make the panels demountable so that they can be changed out? The children get to experience all the sensory objects, just not all at the same time. But this change would only be necessary if you see your grandkids staring at it and not playing with it; if that happens, maybe simplify the panels and change them out over time. But if they are can't keep their hands off it, you hit the spot for them! Every object on it is wonderful.

This makes me sad I got rid of a similar table. It was elegant in its simplicity. You didn't say which species of wood you used, please do, because the woodgrain of your table adds to the look. My old table was made of maple, and it was beautiful. But I have since picked up an enamel-top table with a similar mechanism for its leaves, and this will help me fix it. Thank you!

I looked at this one because I like making escape room props. This detail work is not in my wheelhouse, so I'd hide microfilm under a pop-out gemstone in a piece of costume jewelry, for an escape room. Much easier. To hide a micro card, I'd make cufflinks, tie clip, or a money clip. I imagine your ring has RFID properties, too. Bonus!

I think I will try to make this for our entry hall, so yes, please simplify the instructions if you can! Or make kits and sell on eBay. I'll have to make it with my jigsaw, sawing close to the lines and then sanding to get it just right. I also think it would look better with an Edison-style bulb instead of a glaring one. Edison-style bulbs are in style right now in the U.S., so are readily available at hardware stores, but any softer-glowing bulb would let the eye see your fabulous woodwork a little better.

This is awesome, might keep my teenage daughter out trick-or-treating for one more year... but okay, let's get down to brass tacks (or copper wires)... how much did all of the electronic components cost? and what are your top 3 sources for these components? Thanks!
