I bought 6 metres of ripstop nylon for my blimp envelope. What is the best way to seal the edges?

I've tried glue, duct tape, and a bit of heat sealing. It doesn't really work.

How can I make a giant version of a latex (rubber) balloon?

I wanted to make a giant balloon to tie onto myself and jump up and down really high. I suppose a pogostick does the same thing, but a giant balloon seems cool as well.

Help with multistage balloon-tipped water missile

I'm designing the perfect water weapon of mass soakage-the super water missile, and I'm shifting my attention to multistage water rocket thrust systems. My finished product will hopefully be able to reach high altitudes, acheive moderate horizontal distance, and either drop many water balloons over a specified target area, or be tipped with a very large water balloon for a "wet impact" (very wet). I don't know how multistage water rockets operate though, and there are no instructables on how to build them. I searched Google, and all I got was pictures. No DIY's, how-to's, or tutorials. Could anyone tell me (or better yet-show me) how to make a multistage water rocket-or at least how they operate?

What is the smallest helium balloon that could lift an average human?

I am trying to figure out a way to lighten a load with helium balloons. I am looking for a way to make them portable too, i.e. to be carried in a backpack. Is there a more readily available gas that will do the same job without blowing up, or is helium the current best bet?

Pranks! (water-related)

Were you Tee Pee'd last week? Was your car suran-wrapped? Was there Icy Hot on the toilet seat AGAIN? Did someone give you frozen mayonnaise when you asked for vanilla ice cream? How about the hand in the bowl of warm water trick? Something else? Something WORSE? Don't worry, and don't get mad............get even! This is THE place to scheme about how to get those pranksters back! Mines, tripwires, water balloons, lasers (to pop black water balloons of course), water sniper rifles, pimped out go karts (mounted with water balloon cannons), you name it! If it's a prank, and it soaks to the bone, it should be disscussed here! Soon, we'll make them wet and sorry they messed with you! (If they get you back, evaluate the prank, and read this paragraph again!)

Water Rocket Launchers

Water rockets are fairly new to water warrior technology. To reduce our carbon footprint, water rockets are built using plastic bottles. This forum topic talks about the operation of standard water rockets and launchers, how they can be used in a water war, construction of water rocket launchers, rockets, and add-ons like water balloons on the tips of rockets, ammo clips, and grips as well.

Business card ninja

It's always amazing to see people take some simple skill and take it to ridiculous extremes. This video showcases one man's insane talent for throwing business cards. Popping balloons, up through open windows, and knocking stuff over. And here we were all wasting our time using them to share contact info. via TechEBlog

If You Could Do Something Incredibly Stupid Without Consequences

If you could do something incredibly stupid without any consequences such as injury or death, what would you do? Here's what my friend said: He'd ride a lawn chair attached to balloons into the stratosphere, jump of (parachute not included) with a ton of home-made explosives, land in a large tub of Jello, and detonate the explosives. :D

The Dangers of Disney

I was trying to find out who was currently leading the US presidential polls, when I got distracted by an item on Freedom of Information. That led me to this article. Isn't the internet wonderful?Inhaling helium to produce an amusing squeaky voice (a favourite game for children in the United States and Europe) may not be the innocuous party trick it seems, according to emergency medicine physicians at the Wesley Center for Hyperbaric Medicine in Brisbane, Australia (Annals of Emergency Medicine 2000;35:300-3).Simon Mitchell and colleagues report the case of a previously healthy 27 year old man who inhaled helium and subsequently developed a stroke with transient blindness and radio-graphic evidence of cortical infarction. However, the man had inhaled the gas direct from a pressurised canister, whereas most children who perform the trick - to imitate the voice of Mickey Mouse - inhale the gas from helium filled balloons. The patient developed rigidity and lost consciousness within moments of inhaling the helium. On arrival at the emergency room 15 minutes later, he regained consciousness but was found to have complete visual loss and evidence of cortical infarction.PubMed ArticleI still haven't found out who's leading, though...
