Just wanted to see before I used it on potentially bad water. Thanks

I want to make fake granite. Seen the retaining walls along the road turned into faux granite outcroppings?

I've seen some really realistic-looking fake granite. There's a hotel lobby filled with a 'granite' water feature, and along roads they're putting in retaining walls then covering them with concrete that's dyed and shaped to look like a granite outcropping! I'd love to learn how to do that. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Cactus spine clusters pulled out

Hello. I just bought a Torch Cactus from Lowes today and tried to pull the ugly fake flowers off, but when I pulled the hot glue a whole spine cluster came off of it. I'm just wondering if the cactus will heal from this and how damaging this can be to the cactus overall. Can anyone help me?

Building a sawing-a-woman-in-half box?

I'm interested in building a box to perform this illusion on the relatively-cheap. Granted, there are many ways of performing this illusion; I'd like to build one that doesn't require two women but uses fake legs instead. I don't need help with the fake legs.

POWER THIRST and should I do this...

I was thinking about creating a can of RAWBERRY from the fake commercials of power thirst on youtube. How should I go about making a can (I'm thinking about using a Monster can. What I plan on doing is having the shell of the can be like a fake pen and shock people who pick it up to drink, so it will seem like it is made with REAL LIGHTNING! Any suggestions? I was thinking of using 9+ volts for a mild shock.

Train Surfing by the Train Rider

Preformed by a German known as "the trainrider". Before he died from leukemia, he enjoyed the last year of his life by surfing on trains. Included Germany's fastest Highspeed train ICE with a top speed of 330 km/h(!) No one did that before. So, there's a lot of video on the youtubes about him faking his death... It's possible someone is trying to claim the fame - or he really did fake it for a variety of reasons... In any case, it's still quite an amazing feat - but he did it, now you don't have to :p

Designer RatWear

A neat, rather disturbing bit of rat-based faux-designer wear:TransRatFashionA project by Kristofer Paetau, Rio de Janeiro, 20075 pieces of fake Chanel fashion accessories made out of taxidermised rats:a rat-bra, a rat-slip, a rat-handbag, a rat-handkerchief and a pair of high heel rat-shoes.Note that the webpage is decidedly NOT work-safe, or suitable for those underage. This picture tells the story pretty well on its own.

i have changed the name to how pathetic is criss angel

Is Criss Angell a fake? Let me see a show of cursors! I already well know how most of his tricks are perfored, and they are so dumb! In "Walk on Water", they put plexiglass over one section of the pool. The girl says she swam right under him, but she couldn't have swam around him because of the plexiglass. That is why she went under. In "Steamrolled" they dig out a trench so he fits safely under the big wheels. And the broken glass? Oh that's real. I know many others, but my hands are cramping from typing.

Zombie fiction: illegal in Kentucky.

A Kentucky student has been arrested under anti-terrorist legislationWinchester police say William Poole, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Investigators say they discovered materials at Poole's home that outline possible acts of violence aimed at students, teachers, and police.Poole told LEX 18 that the whole incident is a big misunderstanding. He claims that what his grandparents found in his journal and turned into police was a short story he wrote for English class."My story is based on fiction," said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. "It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."I originally found this story through Groxx. The article is here, and if you want to pass comments on to the relevant people, their contact details are here.

Can you see the strings? ("Yes")

You may have seen on the news that a Dutch chap claims to have flown under his own power from a standing start. Watch the video... I don't buy it - I think that... those wings beat too quickly to generate enough lift (compare to the beat-rate of much smaller swans, eagles and condors) the wing membranes don't show enough sign of being under load - they're too loose and flappy. the wings look the same on the down- and up-strokes the upstroke should push him down, because the membrane doesn't close up like a bat's wing, or let air through like a bird's wing. In fact, I reckon he's on strings. What do you think? UPDATE Thanks to those comments from The Usual Suspects - so it's a fake after all. I ought to point out, as well, that the BBC had been reporting this on their website as well, but the story has mysteriously disappeared in the last few minutes (I didn't provide the BBC link, since most non-UK readers are able to see video on their site).

are real guns looking to much like toys?

Guns are starting to look like toys. yes, a pink pistol is cool, until some kid thinks its not real and starts pointing it at there friends and laughing. i mean, what is the point of making a real pistol look like a toy? that does not teach kids anything. i mean, what kid is going to think that some pink thing can kill him? that green glock is real! it shoots real bullets and everything. police are not even able to tell the difference from a fake gun and a real gun! how are police supposed to know if "that kid" running down the street has a real gun or not? yes, i know that the hello kitty gun is cool, but what is some kid that gets a hold of that going to think? there going to thing that its just some toy and accidentally shoot some one. i might make guns out of knex, but i know that i will not kill anyone with them. painting a gun like a toy just goes against common sense, we used to be concerned about toys looking like real guns, now guns look like toys.

All this CSI Bull****

Well, as I'm watching a csi clone as many people will know as Crossing Jordan (Is she crossing a river? What a mystery all in itself). Why do these show writers think that you can do extra-ordinary technological things in their crime labs that we can't actually do in this current day and age, not nearly as well as what they show us. For example, as in pretty much every episode of CSI, there is some image, some security footage or the such, they "clear up" the image or make a shitty black and white video camera tape look crisp and sharp like it's hd and they can read the letters on a newspaper that someone is holding sitting on a bench like 500 feet away. This people is not possible, not ever. You cannot "extrapolate" pixels out of pixels that aren't already there. If your security camera is 640x480 resolution or the such, say it's pointed to your wall at the end of your living room for example. Something up close, like 5-10 feet away from the camera, the pixel representation of the actual object is fairly well represented digitally and the object is readable usually, maybe with a bit of image tweaking. But say you have a big living room and you need to read a newspaper that is strangely pinned to your wall by a stranger. If it's too far away, the camera sees a lot of the text as big blockly black or white pixels, and each bit of the newspaper isn't captured pixel by pixel, just a representation of what it would look like. But on a pixelated camera, you're never going to be able to pull pixels out of pixels that aren't there like I already said, it makes no sense. And on these csi shows, they're seen doing crazy shit like pulling a liscense plate number from a police car footage tape of the car BEHIND the cruiser by "extrapolating" the pixels they seemed to be able to read the license plate by using the left mirror of the car in front of the cruiser, and to that, this would imply that the car behind was parked to the left of the cruiser, but in reality in the show itself, the car was right behind cruiser where you wouldn't have been able to see the plate anyways.Stuff like matching blood spatter marks to certain cuts on victims or the such, I know this can and is done in real life to a certain point and degree, everything you see in csi is based apon what is used in the real force. But the difference is that in CSI it is SUPER EXAGGERATED way beyond what's possible in real life. I've finally ran out of typing energy so you guys are spared any more of my rant but holy **** I can not figure out how people enjoy CSI so much seeing as it's soooooooo fake in reality. How many other people think it's fake like me?

A 19 year old female M.I.T. student was arrested at gunpoint after entering Boston's Logan International Airport with what authorities claim was "a fake bomb" strapped to her chest, according to wire reports. One Small Slip...

Two Bangladeshi newspapers have apologised after publishing an article taken from a satirical US website which claimed the Moon landings were faked. The Daily Manab Zamin said US astronaut Neil Armstrong had shocked a news conference by saying he now knew it had been an "elaborate hoax".Neither they nor the New Nation, which later picked up the story, realised the Onion was not a genuine news site. Both have now apologised to their readers for not checking the story."We thought it was true so we printed it without checking," associate editor Hasanuzzuman Khan told the AFP news agency."We didn't know the Onion was not a real news site." The Onion article claimed that Armstrong had been convinced by a website written by a part-time librarian;"It only took a few hastily written paragraphs published by this passionate denier of mankind's so-called 'greatest technological achievement' for me to realize I had been living a lie, " said a visibly emotional Armstrong, addressing reporters at his home. "It has become painfully clear to me that on July 20, 1969, the Lunar Module under the control of my crew did not in fact travel 250,000 miles over eight days, touch down on the moon, and perform various experiments, ushering in a new era for humanity. Instead, the entire thing was filmed on a soundstage, most likely in New Mexico."Obviously, this is a major embarrassment for the newspapers involved, and clearly shows how modern "journalism" is really just copy-paste-spin (witness The Daily Mail's recent "pregnant immigrant" slant on UK population data)You've got to wonder, though - how much other net-sourced nonsense has made it to the headlines as "news"?The Onion articleManabzamin newspaperNew Nation (Tagline: "Bangladesh's Independent News Source"!)
