Concrete propane grill - Heat issues? Answered

I'll be making a concrete counter top for my outdoor kitchen. I'll shape a "box" in the concrete (just like a concrete sink), and build the propane burners into that. Will I run into any heat issues with the concrete? Should I line it with something to shield it from heat?

I don't have any experience but what I do know is that you should make sure you wait for the concrete to cure completely and for the water to evaporate because moist concrete, even, and especially if it's hard, in high heat, goes BOOM!

If you have some ventilation at the bottom there should be no issues unless your grill fully covers the hole.
A grill plate is no problem anyway but a flat one like a frying pan might be.
As you also need to consider cleaning it out it might be a good idea to leave a gap big enough so you get a small broom in there ;)
