Usb Charger

I have 2 questions; 1.) Does anyone know if I can use a resistor in a usb charger? If so, what bands.(ex red, blue green, ect). 2.) Can I use an 3v LED to reduce the power to 6v. Would 6v harm my electronics?

Can you allow users to use mathjax to add nicely formatted equations?

Http:// Users can use Latex-like formatting, such as $\sum_{i=1}^n \frac{1}{n}$. See for example. Thanks, Joe

What fittings can I connect together (building an air compressor) ?

Hi, I'm building an air compressor out of fridge compressors, propane tanks and NPT fittings from ebay, everything was cool until I received a check valve I ordered before all the other stuff (because it was from another seller so no need for a group order :) for one item). So I ordered a 1/8 female/female check valve (one way valve), and I measured the diameter with calipers, and it's not 1/8" (3.2mm) but a lot more, which makes sense, 3mm would be really tiny so now I don't understand how all of that works here are the fittings that will compose the system (those are 1/2 I guess but I will order 1/4 and 1/8 as well to make the complete circuit (around 20 fittings total): here is the check valve I already ordered (1/8 BSPP): I also noticed the valve is linear while the fittings appear to be the shape of a cone, will it matter ? Thanks in advance for any help ;)

Ideas for a wire chess set.

I was thinking about doing a wire chess set. Since it was suggested by CaitlinsDad over here: Came up with this. These are rough (obviously), the rook should have crenelations and I did the king and queen in the same piece. It's like 5 AM and my fingers hurt from working on a wire Nine Tailed Fox (from Naruto) for my son. So, I took a short cut. The picture should make it clear how I'm planning to make things look. The knight is abstract, it always bothers me when the horse is the only thing with any detail. The pawn is about 1/2" x 1" tall, the queen would be just under 2" tall, the king is about 2 1/4" tall, both by 1" wide, the other 3 are about 1 1/2" x 3/4". It is done in 18g galvanized steel. Anybody still reading? Great! I'd love to get some feedback, good, bad, anything to either confirm it is just the best thing ever OR how it could be improved towards that goal. So don't hold back. Cheers.

Putting a 1/4in Stereo Jack into a computer :)

I'm thinking this will be my first instructable. I plan to put a 1/4 in stereo jack in the front panel of my PC. I can do that. The problem is, I need to figure out a way to amplify the sound, since my 30-year old earmuffs use a 1/4 inch jack and suffer from low power. I'm thinking USB power. Any suggestions? I know comps, I know how to do this, I just know nothing about amps :)

Of props and guns

Hmm... I'm sure that I posted this before. Anyways, I was planing to make a (non-working) revolver 1:1 scale. I kind of have an idea on how to make it, I just have a problem developing a plan to make a double action trigger and a rotating cylinder with the cylinder popping out of the side with a release button. A picture diagram would really help. Also: I would like to hear suggestions for material, mainly for the handle. I'm kind of new to this sort of thing.

homemade pizza with it's dough

Pizza dough ingredients: 1 1/2 cups warm water 2 tbsp. sugar 1 1/4 oz. packet of dry yeast 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. olive oil 4 cups white all purpose flour Instructions: Pour the warm water in a larger mixing bowl. Add the sugar & package of yeast. Stir the mixture slowly until yeast & sugar are dissolved. Let sit to allow the mixture to "mature" for about ten minures or so. the mixture will begin to react; clouding & forming a foamy "head" on the surface of the mixture. Add the salt & olive oil & stir again to combine & dissolve the ingredients. Add 1 cup of flour & whisk in until dissolved. Add the 2nd cup of flour & whisk it in. Add the 3rd cup of flour & combine. By now the dough mixture should be fairly thick. Add the last cup of flour & with your hands, beginto combine & knead the dough And now you have you pizza dough finished so you will be first putting on your pizza sauce & baking it at 400% in you oven for 10-12 minutes after the dough tures to be alittle thicker then take it out of the oven a put on cheese  & if you want to you may go ahead & put on any kind of toppings that you like then put it back int the oven for about 6-8 minutes or undil it turns alitte brown. Then you may take it out & eat after you cut it.

constant power with timed output

Hi all,           So ive found a circuit that i wish to use found here:;=usb&ModuleNo;=220003&C;=SO&U;=Strat15 its a temperature activated circuit so when it gets to say 30 degrees celcius it switches the relay and makes the connection what i need it to do is when it reaches the designated temp, give a momentary 12v for 2 seconds then do nothing for 1 minute, if it is still at the designated temp after 1 minute give another 12v for 2 seconds then nothing for 1 minute and so on and so on untill the temp drops below the designated temp and the circuit will no longer be live untill it reaches temp again. is there any easy way to modify this circuit or another way to do this thanks

Really basic Resistance / Amperage question:

Before I begin: yes, I should know this already, but I'm really sleep deprived right now, and therefore slightly muzzy on my electronics knowledge... My circuit has two loops running in parallel off one, limited, 18v power supply: [*] Loop 1 requires the majority of the supply's power to run [*] Loop 2 is simply a 7805 voltage regulator supplying 5v to an analog input on an Arduino, so needs almost no current running through it. [*] when Loop 1 and Loop 2 are both active, Loop 1 does not get enough power. if I place a resistor in Loop 2, in series with the 7805, will it increase the amperage to Loop 1? I think the answer is yes, but, once again, I'm MASSIVELY sleep deprived. any help is appreciated.

Micro K'nex Killer Kobra roller coaster Update 1

Hooray!!! Update!!!! Thanks to the people of instructables I have been able to make progress on my micro knex killer kobra. Thanks to your votes I have added a Zero-G roll. Apart from that I have added a cutback and a small hill. Now I have two more options for you to choose from. The last two pictures show what each one is. Option 1: Barrel roll Option 2: Helix Just so you know right after one of these elements I will add a propulsion system that will hopefully give me enough speed to add a few more elements. The first element to get 4 votes wins.

Got a 1/2 HP motor

I just got a Got a 1/2 HP motor for free from my school (there were 2 old vacuum pumps that were covered in dirt and have been in a shed for like a year. One of my friend got one and is turning it into a lathe. They are really nice and quiet GE motors. Their bearing just needed some lube and then they are all fixed!). All it needs is a capacitor (can get from ebay for like 15 bucks including shipping) What should I make with it? So far I'm thinking rotary spark gap for my tesla coil (take THAT plamana!) but i'd like to utilize the power more (don't really need 1/2 HP for a spark gap!). Any other ideas? BTW I'm not making a gokart. lol. But it would be cool.... BUT NO

Li-ion 5 pin, pinout?

Good Day Fellow TinkerersI have a battery that came out of a Android Tablet that i want to use for another project. It has a cuircuit board attache to the top which i would assume is a over/under charge protector and it has 5 wires coming off of that. 2 x Red, 1 x White and 2 x Black. The two black wires are connected to the same pad on the "protection circuit" and the two red are connected to the same pad. The white wire is on a separate pad i.e. 3 pads, 1 with 2x red, 1 with 2 x black and 1 with 1 x white.I figure the Red would be positive and the Black negative and then i would assume that the white is the Thermistor connection. My Question :How do i connect this externally from the tablet to charge? I figure red and black are the usual, but how do i connect the white wire? Thanks in advance for any help :)
