Toys and things you have sitting on your desk/PC

Does anybody here have toys or other funny things sitting on their computer desk or PC?I have a little Master Chief figurine that my friend gave me, it came with a Halo 3 Xbox 360 controller. He has a bubble gum wrapper for a cape. I call him Bubble Chief. The other one I have is a papercraft model of Mister Chief. 3D Model Design? Answered

Hi.Just looking through this class. I'm just getting into 3D printing after building a Vector 3 3D printer from the Eaglemoss part work.I'm trying to make a model of an end cap for a UPVC window cill. I am struggling with Tinkercad, I don't have much experience of 3D design. I'm essentially trying to create a shape similar to the one in the photos I've attached. I'm struggling to create a rounded corner using Tinkercad. I've tried with Fusion 360 too as that was recommended but that seems way out of my depth at the moment. The sleeve I can create, it's just the triangular part with the rounded corner.Any ideas? Thanks

Finding an appropriate heatsink for 5V 3W LED? Answered

Hello, I have bought some 3W 5V leds, and now I have to dissipate the heat they produce. I am thinking of using an xbox 360 GPU heatsink i have laying around ( ), cut in apprpriate size. Then I would glue the led with thermal epoxy to it.  Can somebody suggest an adequate size for the heatsink? I can't find any info around. I have other heatsinks as well, I would rather not buying a LED heatsink if that's not mandatory. Thanks in advance :) Picture of the leds attached, they have no board to screw them with.

can measuring power from an electric fence kill your voltmeter? Answered

I think I may have killed my digital multimeter by trying to test the voltage pulses from my electric fence.  The fence was powered by a small charger, a Zareba .05 joule pulsing model, but soon after testing the voltage, I started getting extremely low readings on anything I tested, from a car battery to wall current.  Clearly it didn't blow the fuses in my meter (an Ideal 61-360) since they still registered power inputs, but just as clearly, something is very wrong with the meter now.  Any clue as to what might have happened?

UV De-chlorination for a fish tank? Answered

I did some research and saw other instructables that showed how to possibly create a UV sterilization. I read that UV light in the 230 and 360 range can break down Chlorine and Chloramines. I was curious if someone could share how to create a UV de-chlorinating chamber (2-5 gallons) with the use of UV LEDs. For safety purposes I was thinking of a plastic 5 gal bin, where placing the top on the bin completes the circuit to expose the water to the UV light in a safe manner. how many would be needed? how long would water need to be exposed?

[TUT] Setup a VPN on an Xbox 360 and Xbox one Console

Info: There are many benefits to routing your xbox IP through a VPN connection. This ranges from utilizing exclusive American content, to hiding your IP from DDoSers, or even hiding your location from Doxers. This tutorial will show you a loophole that allows you to get around/avoid these hassles. Let us begin. Things you need: WiFi Connection Laptop with LAN port VPN (Virtual Private Network) Ethernet Cable VPN's: IPVanish PureVPN ExpressVPN This tutorial was done using IPVanish When installing these, make sure it sets you up with an American IP so you have access to American Xbox Content. How to Setup VPN on your Xbox Console Use Router Base Connection to Setup VPN on Xbox One of the methods of setting up Xbox One VPN is by tunneling your service via router and then connecting your gaming console and other devices to the router. Note that the setup may vary according to the router you use and the instructions provided by the VPN provider. Use the following steps to configure a VPN service on your router: You need an Ethernet cable and connect your modem to the WAN port in the router. Open your Router’s Control Panel – accessible from your system control panel. Go to the ‘Basic Setup’ / ‘Network’ / ‘Basic’ tab in your router control panel (where you can configure WAN or Internet settings). Enter the setup details provided by your VPN provider (username, password, gateway, subnet mask, etc.). Select the appropriate protocol settings and the change the ‘Connection Type’ based on your router and VPN providers instructions (usually to PPTP, but it depends). Select the appropriate DCHP settings depending on the requirements by your VPN provider. Click the Apply Settings / Save / Connect button and you are done. Now you can connect your Xbox to the router either through Wi-Fi or through Ethernet cable and can enjoy using VPN on your Xbox 360 or Xbox One. Use Your Computer to Setup VPN on Xbox You can also configure a VPN service on your Xbox through sharing the VPN connection on your personal computer with the gaming console. Firstly, setup a VPN connection on your computer: Go to ‘Network and Sharing Center’ from your system’s Control Panel. Click on ‘Setup a New Connection or Network’ and a wizard will appear. Select ‘Connect to a Workplace’ and click ‘Next’. The wizard will ask ‘how do you want to connect?’- select ‘Use my Internet Connection (VPN)’. Next you will have to enter the Internet Address and Destination Name provided by your VPN provider. Enter the details and click ‘Next’. Now enter the Username and Password of your VPN service and click ‘Connect’. If you already have a VPN configured on your computer, use the following steps to connect it to your Xbox: Connect your Xbox with your PC using an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. Go to ‘Network and Sharing Center’ from your system’s control panel. Click on the ‘Change Adapter Settings’ on the left side bar. Right click on your VPN connection and click ‘Properties’. Go to the ‘Sharing’ tab and check ‘Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection’ option. Click on the drop down menu below ‘Home Networking Connection’ and select ‘Local Area Network’. Click ‘Ok’.

What I'm looking for is a 250G counsle, 2 wireless controlers (1 included with a xbox set) a headset (also included in the xbox set), and the game Black Ops. I've looked it all up and found it to be about $400. Well inside my wallet right now, I have $401! haha well I found the xbox to be about $300, the wireless controler to be $40 and the game to be $60. Does anyone know any better deals at the moment? If not I will probably just go ahead with my plane and buy what I've said. I know that a lot of people on this site have xboxs so that's my question! thanks!!! -Aleceastfood

Direction: Climb vs Conventional? Answered

I am new to CNC routers and Fusion 360 so I'm looking for some guidance. The following summarizes what I've experienced and what I've seen in the Lessons you have provided. For woodworking I was under the impression that conventional direction should be used whenever possible. This was for safety reasons, handhelds getting away from you or wood kickback on a router tables. Lesson 9 describes Direction in detail and states, in his opinion, climb has no advantage when working with wood. For the projects that I have tried the simulated time estimates varied a lot. i.e. 1:44 (climb) vs 32 (conventional). So if this is true that there is no advantage with wood and it results in a heavier load on the CNC and longer runtimes should I stick with conventional direction? Thanks in advance!

Switching the input to my speakers with a flick of a switch?

I have my 360 hooked up to my computer LCD as I don't have a regular HD TV and this is the next best thing. With my speaker system I normally have my speakers hooked into my PC sound card. What I think is getting a jack extender. Like it has a jack that plugs into my sound card and then I can plug a cord from my speakers into that so I could easily switch between my xbox and PC by just swapping cables. But I would like to make a little switch box so I can keep both of the plugged in and just hit a little switch and change them.

wall wart/transformer instead of batteries?

I have recently purchased a creative HQ-2300D and it only accepts two AA batteries for powering the decoder, there is no DC in on it. Can I use a wall adapter to power it? (it really eats batteries)The intended charger, output is 3.7v = / 355mAhThe reason I am wanting to use a transformer with it, is it would make it a lot easier as it is only used for gaming on the xbox 360 (to get the dolby headphone from the decoder) so it is never used "on the go" so changing the batteries/ recharging them is a mild annoyance I wouldn't have from a transformer turned on when I use the 360. It can't be as simple as wiring pos to pos and neg to neg on the battery terminals inside the decoder with the nokia charger because there is only a slight variation in the voltage.....can it?. I am also concerned about whether the transformer is regulated or not, reversing polarity, correct polarity etc. etc. and what else is important not important when attempting to do such a thing, so as not to destroy my decoder. (I did this before with a minidisc player and a Universal adapter on the wrong voltage, I didn't impress myself..........doh.... anyone smell that....)I tried plugging the nokia charger into another 3v device (an old sony tape deck) that has a 3v DC in, and it didn't seem to give it enough power to turn the tape, but when I plugged in a universal adapter and set it to 3v it worked fine.My idea is to remove the fem connector from the phone and rig it so it can be plugged into one of the battery terminals and the nokia tranny can be plugged into it, but it can still be removed for when I want to use batteries.I put it to all those with the knowledge who can explain in lay-mans terms and educate me on the best, safest, cleanest way to solve my dilemma.Thanks.

Has anybody here player the new "stacker" game? it's made by LAI games. Basically theres a bar moving back and forth horizontally and you press stop to stop the bar, then you get a new layer. you keep raising this bar, or "stacking" the bars up and they gradually get faster and smaller. if you can stack up 9 blocks you win a minor prize, approximately 10% worth of what you paid to play the game (usually $1.00). If you can stack up 11 blocks you win a prize worth approximately 300X worth the amount you used to play the game. the average odds in winning are 1 in 400. I played this game with one dollar in quarters and I won my xbox 360. has anybody else won this game? or has anybody else played it and almost won?

Turtle beach bluetooth headset adapter - convert to USB for PC.

Hi All, Have a desire to adapt the XBA Bluetooth Adapter to use it on PC. I envisage the adapter needing provide power to the outer pins as i doubt the 2.5mm jack powers the BT unit. ~ Option one is to use an XBOX 360 controller and plug it straight into the USB port on my PC, have not tried this but id imagine it would work. ~ Option 2 is create an adapter that has USB on one end and the XBA Bluetooth Adapter on the other, this is where i hope to come across someone with more skills than me that has done it B4. Theory was to just buy a second hand xbox controller and reverse engineer the internals to pass the wires needed and discard the rest. Thanks in advance, Any help would be appreciated.

Rotating Antennae Wiring Question? Answered

Ok, something I've been thinking about for awhile.  Say you have an antennae/radar dish/etc that rotates 360°. Naturally, you have wires running up to the antennae connecting it to the rest of your circuit/broadcasting/receiving device. How do you prevent the wires from wrapping around the antennae and causing it to stop or causing the wires to break? I suppose you could reverse the antennae every so often to prevent this, but there must be a better way. Also, I figured you could have some sort of connection that rotated around, but it seemed that a rotating connection could be problematic if debris or something got in the way. It also doesn't seem like a very solid way to connect the two devices together.  Not actually building something here, just a curiosity. Thanks!

Why can consoles play games with so easily, but I need a ridiculously powerful computer to run the same game on pc?

How is it that consoles like the xbox 360 and PS3 can run games like GTA and Assassins Creed with less than a gig of ram, but my computer can barely run those, and its way better hardware than the console has. I understand that the console OS is less demanding than Windows, that much is obvious, but a difference of 4-8 GB of ram?! Surely Its not just the OS requirements! What makes the game so easy to run on consoles, but not on PC? and is there any way that I can make games run better on my computer without upgrading the hardware? Thanks

Human Electric Hybrid Vehicle

The HE Human Electric Hybrid Vehicle It looks like an interesting concept car. Although, it might be hard to find somebody who wants to pedal it. I really like the solar panels on top, and how on the downhill, it charges a capacitor for energy. This HE Human Electric Hybrid Vehicle concept uses the power of your muscles as well electricity stored in the batteries. It allows smooth and constant velocity both uphill (with the help of the electric motor), as well as downhill (when the wheel acts as a generator and charges the batteries). The vehicle can turn 360 degrees maintaining stability all the time. Additional power is acquired from photovoltaic placed on top of the vehicle as well as during de-acceleration from regenerative braking. Elderly and handicapped people that are unable to provide enough kinetic energy can also charge the batteries directly from the grid.

Stun Gun Mod Suggestions/Tips? HV Power!

The 2 images are the type of stun gun parts I have, I believe its a spark gap igniter one but m not 100% on that as I would rather leave it in the cardboard circular case unless I get confirmation it could be modified. What kinds of projects could this be used for, I'm pretty sure its DC powered and attempted putting the outputs to curved metal electrodes for a Jacobs ladder but arc stays in one spot after many adjustments.  Ive only worked with HVAC with an unrectified flyback for plasma globes. Anyone have any suggestions on what to pump this badboy into. P.S. Using 2 metal screws from an Xbox 360 and putting them very close together makes a very nice whistle to it, :).

You know when you are signed up on a site and getting friends to visit it gets you points to download stuff?

I'm registered on, an official site promoting the upcoming fighting game for PS3 and 360, Tekken 6. Every week the site pits two characters against each other and in order to vote for one, you need to share a video trailer link with your friends. Whether it be through IM or myspace, anything will work as long as they click it. Every different friend who clicks your link counts as a point towards your account. Get enough "shares" and you'll be able to download exclusive wallpaper, character PDFs, etc. So i was wondering how these sites work, if there are ways to boost or speed up the process of getting "clicks". Any help would be great.

3D scanning of small and complicated parts

I am trying to get a proper understanding of the things involved when scanning small parts with features bad for scanning, like circuit boards or things that simply are not as smooth as the test objects seen in tutorials. Due to the limitations I gave up on laser scanning for this although I still prefer it for bigger parts with less features. Photogrammetry works, well sort of... Most programs require the cam to move around the object, which is pretty much useless for parts smaller than 3cm³ in size. But even if the software claims to be able to use turntables I still struggle massively getting any usable results. I had testversions of 3D flow's Zephire and Agisoft Photoscan, both are able to use masks which helps a lot but they struggle with the camera positions. No matter what I do and how I try to cheat the cams are always located at a max of 180° but never the full 360° Agisoft would allow to enter cam positions but the algorthm behind it is beyond my understanding. So far my approach was to mask the background out and if the cam alignment failed (which it always did) to manually add reference points into the single pics. But still no 360° scans but a lot of cams in the exact same location. I know a 8MP DSLR is not perfect but the image quailty is decent enough for all the details. Is there a software out there that is dedicated for turntable use but is no laser scanning software? Or maybe a program / plugin to calculate cam positions for a turntable if the cam location is actually fixed? I mean with a turntable and fixed cam I would expect that all cam positions in the model are at least at the level and distance but in some cases it looked more like a wave pattern. My ultimate goal is to go down in size to about 5mm³ in size, like insects and tiny machine parts. Zephyr Pro seems to be right tool for the job but it out of my reach price wise as I only do 3D as a hobby. 123D and other cloud services fail totally for this task for the obvious reasons of size and fixed cam.

XBOX 360 Hard drive gaming - boot disk help

I have this idea, but i want to know if its possible I have a home network of 2 tvs and do just did my xbox 360 update that enables you to copy your games to your hdd. I want to play network in my house on 2 tvs. But only have one disk So with the new software update, you can copy the games on your hdd, but cant play without the disc in your drive. No i know you can force open the drive and do it that way..but in long term it cant be good for your machine. So, i know there is a code on each disc and it picks up that code saying the disk is in the drive. Now my question is...... I want to explore my disc, and copy that code, and put it on a flashdrive or dvd and insert it, so that my one machine will think its the disk becasue i copied it to it, and my other machine i can play the original from. please help if somone know how to get that code..thanx in advance I also tried manually opening the drive while the dis is loaded and the game is on, does not work, as soon as you open it the lazer starts reading the disk. I do not want to chip my box, so i thought maybe there is a pc way of grabbing that code or some files needed to read the disk as a security check, and burn it on to dvd, the question is just..which ones. Another Question: Why do i have on my new desktop only 2 topics..welcome and my xbox. Other people have so many other options. Yes i do not have live, but will this only visible when live is on? Further on..when i put my disc in the drive..i do not get a nice image as what is now currently in my tray...just a stupid cd and the name below it... how do those people get the say call of duty 4 logo ect on it

transform 1 rotating axis into digital counting system?

Hi i have a rotating axis which i want to transform into a digital system. With this i mean it has a disc attached to it with numbers on it, which rotates with the axis. After the first disc there is another disc, which turns only a little bit, and only if the first disc has rotated 360 degrees(so that after 9 comes 10) This way i should be able to make a third, and fourth disc, which work the same way as the second. Then it is a counting system. I have thought about how i could do it, my ideas were all so complicated i could impossible make the discs a little close to eachother. Is there an "official" technique for this or does anyone of you have an idea how i could do this? thanks ps: here is a simplified image of it for if you didn't understand what i meant

Navigation lights for boats? 112.5 degree - Port/Starboard (red/green) side lights & 360 degree white stern lights

Small boats under power are required to have a 112.5 degree lighting on the sides and an all-round white light on the stern. The light on the left or port side is red, while the right or starboard sidelight is green. At night, these lights must be visible for 1 mile, while the stern (rear) white light must be visible for 2 miles (minimum). These lights indicate direction... course. Led navigation lights are very expensive. LEDs are very cheap... So, why not build 'um yourself? My small craft uses a 12 volt battery operated trolling motor for power, and therefore, the idea low power consumption LEDS is very appealing. I've never built and LED lights, but I'd love to see some ides for small electric (or gas powered) powered water craft. Thanks

My old speakers have no plug, what do I do?

Hey, so first off let me say I have no clue if this is in the right area, the Instructables forum is a bit confusing to me. Here is my problem: I found two old speakers that I want to set up in my room with my Xbox (Original, not 360) and would also like to be able to plug a MP3 player or whatever else into it, but mainly just the Xbox. However the wires are just bare, there's no plug on it or anything. So how would I go about fixing this? I was hoping I could just take a simple audio in/out cord and snip the end off and attach it to the speaker, but I've never worked with audio before, so I'm a bit lost. Thanks for any advice :) And P.S.  I'm good with electronics, I've just never worked with audio/speakers before.

Any objections to my battery charging solution? Answered

I bought some cheap 360 battery packs on the internet and big surprise they don't work.  The problem is that the built in charging circuit charges the packs to around 2.26v when my controller wont turn on until closer to 2.5v.  My idea is to use the indicating LED (that came as part of the pack) that has a forward voltage of around 2v to drop the 5v charging voltage down to 3v and charge the packs to that voltage.  Theoretically when the packs reach 3v the LED will not be able to sustain the forward voltage and will turn off stopping current flow to the batteries and thus stop charging.  I have a lot of knowledge about electronics, however my knowledge of batteries and their sensitivities is just about nill so I thought I'd ask here before I rig this together and get an idea of the likelihood of the batteries blowing up.  I've attached an image of the proposed circuit any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Automated arduino Water gun

Hi, Im looking for some advice on a current project.. The idea is to build an arduino controlled water turret that sprays water at cats in my back garden. The basis of the idea is a few PIRs to cover 360 degrees, a stepper motor and possibly a windscreen washer kit to spray the water. I want the project to be portable so dont particually want to have a mains water feed. My main issue is the method of spraying the water, Im considering a 12v pump kit but thinking there could be an issue with how far one of these pumps would actually spray the water. I have an ardunio uno and a couple PIRs and dont want to be spending a great amount of money on the project although if i can find a decent method of firing the water then i could increase the budget slightly.  Any ideas or similar projects out there where i might get some inspiration?  Any help would be appriciated

A)   So i'm upgrading my soldering fume extractor as the OLD model looks ancient.. the old model ran x5 12v dc fans with the following current rating ( 0.12A,  0.25A,   0.41A,  0.40A,   0.40A ) and 3 standard 5 mm led's.  POWERED BY 12v = 500mA DC power supply B)  the NEW model will have x4 dc fans @ 0.41a          x1 12v 360 degree W5W led  0.41A           x6 5mm leds     x1 arduino Nano. My questions are: 1) How did i power the OLD model (A) with that power supply. from my understanding if doesn't supply enough current.  2) Can i power all the components in the NEW model(A) with a 12v 1A supply  and if not how can i power all these components from 1 plug? thanks for your help

Help with building a sphere made of wood.

I'm looking to build myself a globe but I'm having a little trouble. Most globes today have a single pivot that lets you rotate the globe along a single axis. I'm looking to build a globe/sphere that will allow you to rotate it 360 degrees in any direction. My grandpa used to have a globe that didn't have any pivots and that had a stand that you could place the sphere/globe on and you could rotate it anyway you wanted. I haven't been able to find anything close, and his got burnt down in a fire. I don't foresee the base being a problem, but I haven't really built any spherical shapes with wood as of yet and I am hoping you guys might have a few tips to help me on my way. I figure I should start with creating a skeleton of a sphere using at least three interlocking rings and go from there and see how sturdy it is. Any insight or tips are much appreciated.

Why do people never do research about consoles before insulting/ talking about consoles? Answered

On AVGN new video about the Atari Jag, I don't know how many people i see saying PS2 is 128 bit and PS3 is 256 (they also say the GC is 128 bit - but if the wii is weaker then 360 how is it 256 bit) 1) PS2 is 64 bit with extensions to make it more powerful 2) very few supercomputers are 128 bit 3) NO CONSOLES SAY BITS ANYMORE!!!! - it's all drivers and stuff I hate these people who don't do research then they argue that your wrong, then they say they are to lazy to research - YOUR AT A COMPUTER WITH INTERNET IT'S NOT HARD! - my soon to next question is how do we get anything done with people who cant click a mouse or type 1 sentence.

With gambling soon being OK'd in MD, will you be able to win prizes off of say, 1vs100 LIVE? Answered

Alright, so I'm sure many of you saw my comments griping about not getting Xbox Live. Well, my dad finally succumbed to my begging, and said that he'll set up a home network for my house, if I got him the router and the adapter for the 360. I'm excited, and I think he may be, too, because when we set up a network, he can use his laptop online without having to transfer files or connect to a finicky, unlock wireless access point. Anyway, I noticed that you get 1vs100 Live with a gold subscription, but, it also says you can't win MSpoints off of it if you live in Maryland or a couple other states. Our state legislature passed a gambling bill(they're putting in some slots/tables near a mall that happens to be in my county), so I'm wondering if that'll let you win prizes off of games on the internet.

Guitar opinion? Answered

I am hoping to buy decent guitar as soon as I have the money. There are a few that I have looked at alot, but I am having a tough time deciding between them. The guitars? An Epiphone Wilshire ($400), a Fender Squier Jaguar ($300), and a Gretsch Resenator ($360) I would love to have any of the three, and Im interested in many types of music. The White Stripes, Primus, Jack White, Cage the Elephant, Nirvana, Cake, The Black Keys, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Tesla, Guns and Roses, and many more. I play both acoustic and electric and I am decent using a slide. Which would you choose? I hope to go to Guitar Center within a couple months to try them out.

Minting My Own Geocoin

I've been Geocaching for a while now and I wish to make my own Geocoin. I looked around all the "official" sites, only to have my head explode at the prices. $1,507.38! That's more than my high speed camera!Three for $27 with the fine print stating that you will more than likely end up paying $360-$540! Is it too much to ask for one or two custom coins at a cost in the lower double digits?! Why would I want to pay so much for something that will travel around in caches subject to anyone's whim? My question is, how can I make my own custom coin? The tracking code will be provided by one of the Travel Bug Dog Tags I own (at least those are cheap). Any help or advice will be useful, just let it be known that I am absolutely terrible at molding. The desired end result should look something like these rough sketches, front and back (followed by an example coin that I picked up and moved. No tracking numbers, no cheating!).

Gaming is Changing

I used to like console gaming because systems rarely/never costed more than $300, it was simple, and everybody had the same stuff. There were no expensive HDTVs, broadband-requiring/expensive online play, the fanciest peripheral was the rumble pack, and your console didn't do anything except light up a power light if there was no game in it.I'm not rich, my parents have never owned a house, and with all the fancy crap that consoles require and do today, I can't afford even a Wii (not that I'd want one, the novelty has worn off). I'm not saying all these improvements in gaming are bad, but for someone like me, I just don't have the money for a shiny new 360, or even high-speed internet (I live on an acerage and there's no cable in the country) for online muiltiplayer/communication.For now, I'll just have to fondly remember having home tournaments playing Star Wars Episode 1 Pod-Racer on N64 with my friends. What do YOU think about gaming today?

Circle pattern didn't come out quite the same - also where next? Answered

I have never used any CAD software before but was able to follow this through over a couple of half days at the computer. I'm planing on designing furniture for my new home and building some designs I have sketched out but this is the first step on that journey!I had one issue where I must have neglected to click on something in the circle pattern tool and ended up with one stiffener component with four bodies rather than four separate components. I hope that doesn't present an issue in subsequent lessons as I am loath to go back and change now. I had to apply the fillets to each body as a result.Clearly there is a lot to understanding what Fusion 360 is capable of and I've only scratched the surface here - I'm going to need to cut some different types of elements to this tutorial and add some drill holes for different elements like dowels and cams (like the things that clamp Ikea furniture together). Do you have any pointers on further courses relating to plywood CAM design?

I want to control a RC Rock Crawler 4X4 truck with Wi-Fi in place of the radio control? ?

I have a RC "radio control" 4X4 Rock Crawler Truck that I have mounted a AIRSIGHT Wi-Fi camera with pan and tilt that has a 360 degree range of about 150 Feet from my wireless router, I want to use the pan signal from the camera to control the steering and use the tilt signal for forward and reverse. The truck will not need a speed control as it moves very slow anyhow. It has a normal servo for the steering and two 12 volt DC motor's for the front and rear drive's.  I have a Arduino UNO and a 2A Motor Shield that I bought for the truck but this will be my first project of this type and I need help. Also I will not need the camera to pan or tilt but I thought it would be easy to cut the wires to the pan and tilt motors and use them for my signal wires for steering and forward and reverse, also I can drive the truck with the camera software from any PC or tablet.  Thanks for any help!

Is it safe to hook this transformer up directly to the AC mains? Answered

I bought an old high voltage transformer from the internet a while back. It seems to work well at AC frequencies (anything higher and it doesn't work at all), and can make some pretty good arcs. When hooked up to a power outlet with 360 ohms of resistance in series with it, it produces a 1.3 cm blue arc. When using a 30 ohm resistor, it makes crazy arcs with a bit of orange (I'm using four 5 watt 120Ohm resistors in parallel, and they still overheat). None of these tests caused the transformer to heat up at all, though. Would it be a good idea to directly hook up the transformer into a power outlet? Would it burn up the transformer and/or my house? A couple other things about the transformer: The primary has around 2 ohms of resistance, but I don't know anything about its inductance. The whole thing is pretty hefty and has a fat iron core. If you brush a wire from a 12 volt power supply across the primaries, you can get a nice spark c: Any help would be appreciated.

Multi Console Av Cables

SOOOOO i've got way to many gaming consoles.. i collect them  i love them all DEARLY but i hate the fact i've got 20million sets of AV cables for each one. SO i went to gamestop and bought a multi console av cable.. covers my xbox (original), xbox 360, playstation 2, and gamecube/nintendo. so i plugged all my consoles in and fired on up.. and to my surprise i had no audio.. so i checked the av's on the tv side and moved htem and after much arguing with it all unplugged all but my xbox.. magically SOUND. so while the xbox was playing a movie i plugged in another console and bam sound was gone.. so my THEORY is this 1) Single Console it Works fine but i still have to switch the cables around every time i want to use another console 2) more than one console plugged in the audio from L & R is being diverted from the tv to the new console plugged in. but i am unsure how to test this.. and even more unsure if my theory is correct how to fix it. i bought the cable for next to nothing and am not above hacking it apart to get the results i want.
