Make your own Blueprints

Does anyone know of a program for the desk top that lets you design blue prints to make things? Like a wooden table, chair or anything like that?

Blue Peter Badge!

It won't mean much (anything?) to non-UK readers, but #2 son's Instructable has earned him a Blue Peter Badge! On a whim, after he got so many favourable comments, I emailed Blue Peter and told them about it.He got the badge in the post today (it's the blue one ), which probably means he was mentioned on the programme, and the site may have been as well (have we had a spike in young UK members?) (I've emailed BP to ask).An absolute mystery to people outside the UK, but a major event in the life of any UK child.

Thin blue line paracord bracelet

Hi everyone! This is my first question; I've been lurking on here for a whille now & love all of the instructables!  My question is (& I apologize if this has been posted somewhere else): does anyone have instructions on how to create a "thin blue line" paracord bracelet?  I've found several youtube videos (which I haven't viewed yet, if there's one that's better than the others, please let me know!), but I prefer written instructions if possible. Thanks so much!!

Vacant Buildings Painted Blue, Become Tourist Attraction

Some derelict buildings in Rotterdam have just been sitting around awaiting demolition when someone had the brilliant idea to paint them a bright blue. Now they've become a tourist attraction. It's almost as if this was a case of Sim City coming to life where troubled areas start getting color coded. How much power can these LEDs handle?

I'm working on a project and I would like to connect two green LEDs two ultra bright Red LEDs and 2 blue LEDs. I got the green leds from radio shack so i know they need 2.1v dc, 25ma but the red ones and blue ones I got from some old toys so I don't know what they need. Any Ideas how much power I would need if I connected them in series? I have a bunch of old wall warts of varying sizes (9v 350ma, 9v 210ma, 5v 1a, 12v 750ma 12v 150ma) but only a few LEDs so I don't want to fry them and I don't need to push them to the limts. Here's some pics of my LEDs the small one is the blue one and the other clear one is Red.

How does this effect happen?

Ok now on a night out all the photos were taken with a friends camera, now it had a very strange effect on eyes, see the picture, both her and I have brown eyes, how exactly do we end up with blue? Almost all the photos it takes do this, no problems with anything at all but eyes, even glasses and windows come out normally but the eyes...

Adjustable, bluetooth, etc.

I am trying to figure out how to control a device that will be "off" while in the range of a transmitter (short range...under 10ft) and then turn on when it goes beyond the range of the signal. I would also like it to be an adjustable range. I was thinking the device would be "on" constantly as the transmitter tells it not to activate, but once it leaves the signal range it would activate.  Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

I'm a Freak of Nature (Literally)

New research shows that people with blue eyes have a single, common ancestor. A team at the University of Copenhagen have tracked down a genetic mutation which took place 6-10,000 years ago and is the cause of the eye colour of all blue-eyed humans alive on the planet today.Apparently, our ancestors all had brown eyes... So people with brown eyes are normal.Full Article

Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds

I REALLY want Wireless headphones, but the caveat is that I want them to be earbuds.  I've seen people do all sorts of things to the big bulky ones, but I need these for stealth; I wanna listen to music in school! haha Don't try and tell me I ought to be studying either! =P The original plan was to use an RF transmitter and a RF receiver for each earbud, but RF modulation is static-ey and is subject to a LOT of interference. So the alternative is Bluetooth or other means of digital modulation.  I can't find a way to make your own "bluetooth" per se, leaving the only option to cannibalize another bluetooth device. Below is a quick sketch of what I had in mind.  I know there's more to it like resistors and whatnot, but I'll let you folks figure that stuff out. XD The idea is that the headphone hook around your ear and the receiver will hang off the back of your ear.  If you have any questions, just ask! =D Thanks for your help!!

Will I die if I eat "methyl blue?" (Or will my pee turn blue?)

Because who doesn't want to have blue urine? :PI can remember guzzling food coloring to get the effect, but then I found this. My question is: Will Methyl Blue give the same effect as Methylene Blue? The MSDS says that methyl blue "may be harmful if swallowed," but that pretty much goes for anything. Wikipedia makes a point to say that "Methyl blue should not be confused with methyl violet or methylene blue, two other stains," and so I know that they are different. How much different is the question here.Btw, methyl blue is available at your neighborhood pet store in the aquarium section as brown, granular crystals.

Blue led photography...

I just took some new pictures for my BraceLED 2.0 I'ble. And look at the picture of the bracelet with the blue LED's! The reflection of the blue light on the white surface (=paper sheet) is highly overexposed! How does this happen? Is the cmos sensor in my Nikon D300s over-sensitive to this color of blue? A picture of a red-led-bracelet under (almost) the same conditions has no such effect. Picture red BraceLED: iso800, 35 mm prime, f/4, 1/20 Picture blue BraceLED: iso800, 35 mm prime lens, 1/15

Nanotech makes white LEDs 5x brighter than before with warmer light.

New research with nanocrystals has created a new LED that gets 300 lumens per watt. Even better, the light is a warm white and not the cold blue-tinted white that we all know. The crystals absorb some of the LED's blue output and emit their own red and green light. That combines with the remaining blue light to produce a soft white glow.Existing commercial white LEDs are also based on blue LEDs. But they use a phosphor coating that converts some blue light into a broad spectrum of yellow light. When mixed with remaining blue light the result is a harsh blue-hued white. Link

How to Replace PC Monitor LED Backlight with RGB LED Backlight?

Hello, Does anyone know how I can replace my monitor's LED Backlight to an RGB LED Backlight? RGB (Red Green Blue) LED Backlighting is superior to W-LED (White LED, which is just Blue LED without Green and Red). I don't even know why the mainstream LCD makers are trying so hard for superior picture quality, when CRT & Plasmas all used RGB light. It's not rocket science: they should just switch to RGB backlights, and replace them when they decay at their different rates. Anyway, does anyone know where I can find RGB LED Backlights for my PC Monitor? I know how to open up my PC Monitor's LCD panel, and remove the LED Backlight, but where can I buy RGB LED Backlights? Does anyone know where I can buy RGB LED Backlights?

Crack the Code 2.0 (Another Patch Winning Opportunity!)

For this code, the rules are the same, but the setup is different. The letters are not mixed up, so if you get the word (for example) "Blue" it's "Blue", not "luBe". The words are still mixed up, but are on the correct line, so if the first line reads "Sky Blue The" and the second line reads "Cat Hat In The" it would be "The Blue Sky," and "Cat in the Hat." Oh, and I may, or may not have mixed up the alphabet. Oops ;-) From your's Truly, Rock Soldier

Instructables, it's a sport.

Hey guys, I was on xbox live the other day and I saw an avatar of an xbox controller in an NBA style logo. It's where the center image is totally white, and there's a blue background on the left, and red background on the right. Then I thought to myself, "It would be awesome to have robot there in the middle.", so I did some paint editing, and came up with some different variations. Let me know what you guys think, because when I get some decent transfer paper, I might make one into a t-shirt. You guys edit them to your liking. I could have done a bit better, but didn't get very far in paint, and I'm not very coordinated in gimp. So if you guys make other variations, I'd love to see them, post a pic! Hope you guys like them!, Gunk on Floor

Blue tooth, extra values

When using HC-05 and a bluetooth App to transmit a string like “hello” to an Arduino, I get the reading as * 12|99|99|hello# Any reason why I am getting those initial values before the string hello? How is this extra values getting into the buffer? The code is while (Serial.available()) { char inChar =; inputString += inChar; } Serial.println (inputString); inputString=””;

Hi, all. These days, I plan to DIY a drone. In the drone, I want to make a PCB which integrated control unit, ESC, Gyro, barometer, and etc. Specially, I want to use blue series 12A ESC as that on my drone. As all of us know taht the blue series 12A ESC can be flashed by BLHeli by myself. However, it is difficult to find the schematic drawing(Eagle file, althium file, or PCB layout) of the ESC. So, could anyone give some help about this? Thanks in advance.

Question regarding Light

Hi guys! I had this strange question in my mind from a long time, but i have to yet get a satisfactory answer: What is the difference between a naturally emitted colour and a colour which is generated by covering the light source with a translucent cover of a particular colour? For example: I have a Blue LED whose body/case is actually transparent but on supplying power emits the colour blue naturally. On the other hand, i have a LED which emits a white colour on powering up. Suppose i put some kind of blue translucent film on it, or a translucent paint. I will still get a blue-colour. What are the differences of colour emitted in these two cases?

Backlighting a Keyboard

So a while back i purchased a keyboard that uses blue EL Wire to backlight the keys.  I like the blue, but i'd like to add some variety to it.  i'd like to add more different colors and a switch that toggles between the different colors (so i can change from blue to say red or green etc..) are there different voltages/currents for the wire that i should be concerned about? any other help/advice would be appreciated too.. thanks ahead of time!

Question regarding colour

Hi everyone! So here is another confusion in my mind.  I know that colours are a result of electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectrum interacting with our eyes.  The visible spectrum consists of 7 colours, abbreviated VIBGYOR. Now my question is, what are primary colours and secondary colours? And how come mixing of two colours produce an entirely different  colour? I expected that all 7 of them would be primary. But that is not the case.  Also, for illustrating the real world scenario from which this doubt crawled into my mind, consider that i have two pieces of translucent films, one blue, and other yellow. Now initially i place the blue film in-front of a white bulb, then it filters all other colours other than blue. Now place a yellow in-front of the blue, and there, you have green. What is the working principle behind this? How come the "blue" light turned "green" after passing through the yellow film?

Mod of Katarukito's Knex slingshot prototype

This is a modification of the sling shot prototype made by Katarukito's (I hope i spelt that right) knex prototype sling shot knex gun. It can pierce cardboard at fifteen feet away with one band and twenty to thirty feet away with two rubberbands (UNSHARPENED BULLET) I modified the barrel with a new barrel, that may look ugly but if you want i can take off the blue and red connectors that make the humps/ scales of what i call... Dragon Head Knex Gun DHKG well i didn't intend on putting those there but it turned out as a dragon and well, i went with it... the barrel doesn't bend and when or if i do post it, all credits go to Katarukito! Enjoy! Sorry for the blurry pictures it was night time and i had to pee like a race horse... Pic 1: The bullet - A red rod or tan rod with tan clip Pic 2: Front view (DRAGON HEAD) - Front of the gun where rubberbands go Pic 3: Another front view (Barrel) - Front of the gun better picture Pic 4: A view of the back (Part of Kataturi's knex gun prototype moded) - View of barrel and handle Pic 5: Better picture of back (Katarukito's prototype still able to be seen, just modified) Pic 6: Full gun - (the full DHKG) - Aprox.
