My science teacher gave me all these stopwatches she thinks are broken, and I'm pretty sure they are easily repaired. Two work, as seen in the picture. There are buttons missing, but I can make some or just combine them to make a few full stopwatches. Where should I begin attacking this, so as not to get a ton of batteries to find that a few really are fried? They use button cell batteries, not sure what type though. :S

I'm building a little teleprompter, and I remembered my family had an old "broken" portable 7" dvd player. It turns out that just the little powerbrick was broken, BUT the display seems really washed out. Like, I hooked up an old Gamecube, and if you view it at an angle, you can see the little cube dancing around and everything, but if you look at it straight on (like most people), it's just a lot of bright white. Is it broken, or is there anything i can do to fix it? The color and brightness buttons do nothing.

About a week ago my dremel stylus broke and I havn't really done anything about it. I have no warranty and it's almost a year old (christmas present). I think that it's the base that's broken, but I can't be positive, I think this because it won't charge. Does anyone know where I can get another base for less thatn 20 or 30 dollars?

Every time I finally get logged in here, my login works for about a week or so, then it stops working. Then no matter what I type in for a password (ie. the correct one), I get told invalid blah blah blah. I have to tell it I forgot my password, which I did not, to get my account activated, yet again. Can someone please fix this? It's not rocket science people, it's a login. Almost everyone else is getting it right, so why am I paying here to be told I have forgotten my password every week?

The thumbnails of 2 of my ibles have been broken for more than a month. Broken thumbnails get fixed evetually , so I thought these thumbnails might get fixed too but even after a month (or more) their still broken :( I'm guessing that the thumbnails have been broken ever since I've changed the main images of the 2 ibles- Paper Lampshade and Satin Flower Jewelry. Is there any way to fix these broken thumbnails? I don't like seeing these broken thumbnails. I wanted to change the main images of some of my old ibles but now I'm afraid that they might end up with broken thumbnails! Need help!

I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem. The thumbnail of my last post is broken, see the picture below. Besides, I've updated the main picture of one of my ibles- Paper-Lampshade/ but it's not showing up in the thumbnail picture. The ible right below the braided jam buns is also having the same problem with its main image, the thumbnail picture of this ible- Bacon-and-Caramel-Cinnamon-Rolls/ is showing the wrong image (not the main image). Is anyone else having the same problem? Please let me know.

Hi folks, the login function is broken. First my 1Password app wouldn't work with the little login at the top of individual instructables pages anymore, which was unusual, and now it takes multiple tries to log in even by my kludge solution which was hitting the login button without anything filled in and going to the actual login page, where the 1Password app will work. And it's odder than that - some places I appear to be logged in, and in others I am not. Such as here, where I am logged in. I think it's related to the facebook login. Just FYI I never want to log into anything but facebook with my facebook login . . . not instructables, not anywhere. EVER. But I still love instructables, just not this facebook login folderol. Thanks, Bett

On the answers screen, when I choose any question, it takes me to ...what looks like a script generated listing of questions, showing the title of what I clicked on as a link - not the question page like it should. If I go back and choose a different one - I get the same listing page showing the title of the one I already clicked, and a second line with the new listing. Baffling! Edit: Wednesday June 10 - it's back up and running! Thanks

I recently seen an instructable on converting an old computer PSU into a lab power supply. I followed it correctly, connecting the orange wire to the brown, the green to black and a 10W Wirebound resistor across red and black. The PSU turns on and all of the voltage rails work (although some are out by +-.75V sometimes), but I can hear a faint screeching noise and the fan doesn't spin. I though the screeching may be normal because all I normally hear is the fan, is this okay. The fan is rated at 12V 0.3A, but when I measured the voltage over it, it was only 3.4V, why is this and how do I fix it. Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Few days ago I was making arduino project which involved using power supply with 12v (musical floppies). I had uno connected to my laptop and I was connecting power supply to floppy which arduino was supposed to control, but I plugged wire in wrong socket. Computer and power supply shut down immediately. I checked later and it appears that I put 12v straight into ground that was also connected to arduino. And later when I tried to upload something on board I got error 0x00 not in sync. 13 led turns on when connected, but board dodn't respond to reset. But it appears on computer so it's not completely fried I think. After some research I bought usbasp programator to try burning new bootloader, but after connecting it always say target doesnt answer. check connections. I did that (didn't checked with multimeter yet) but Im pretty sure its wired correctly. Any ideas? And if not is buying new chip (atmega328-p) going to solve problem?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to buy spoilt/broken iPods, most preferably the iPod photo or anything that's around that size/weight for an art project that I am undertaking. I'll pay for shipping and give you a reasonable token sum for your help ;) (Understand that I need about a hundred, so it would be nice if you don't expect too much cash for me.)

Here's an interesting way to fix a key when the plastic loop on top breaks. It's a mini pouch with a key ring that the key can go into.I probably would've just epoxied a key ring to it, but this looks a lot nicer, that's for sure. Broken Key Fix via CRAFT

I have a unibody macbook which I have recently broken and would be grateful for your help/advice. I dropped my macbook on the floor. As a result a piece of metal (I think it is aluminium but this is a guess) snapped off the screen (internally). This piece of metal was the piece that the hinge screwed into, connecting the screen and the keyboard and allowed the laptop to close. I have attempted to glue this piece back on with various strong adhesives but these have not been strong enough due to it being hinge. I am writing to ask if you think that a form of welding may be a possible solution. The piece is 1.75cm in length and about 3mm across. As you can see from the photos there are three holes which will hold the screws securing the hinge to the computer's base. The piece is attached to the laptop's screen. I have attached two professional photos which I hope show how the piece fits into the overall mechanism. Your input would be most appreciated.

I recently bought a 19 inch LCD monitor for 40 bucks (used). It works perfectly for about half an hour (i havn't timed it) and then the screen just goes blank. If i turn it off and then back on it works for a couple of seconds then it turns back off. If I let it be for a while (like an hour or just when I'm not using my computer) it works fine for another half hour. Is this an overheating problem or what is going on?

I tried multiple methods of downloading the PDF of this article: https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-PC-oscilliscope/ It didn't work here. I got some: DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd looking thing that isn't a PDF when I tried with means other than my web browser. This is the link to the defective PDF download page: https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-PC-oscilliscope/?download=pdf Someone else in their comment from 2011 seems to have had some difficulties too. Feel free to get in contact with me when you have resolved this issue as I would like to download that file myself here. Thank you.

Out in space, no one can hear you scream when the one toilet breaks. That's the status on the International Space Station right now. Solid waste is being taken care of just fine, but liquid waste currently is having problems that is temporarily being served by a "bypass" solution while the astronauts wait for new parts to arrive this weekend along with a shuttle. This all reminds me of the scene from Apollo 13 when the engineers need to fix the filter with available parts. Maybe someday this too will get the Hollywood treatment. Link

A 111GB of usesless stuff is on there (The drive is 120gb, but formatted, it read 111gb), and it can't get it off! I can't really access it through windows because it freezes my computer when i try to open it/right click it It takes a while to boot (1-2 minutes) it gets recognized by iTunes only part of the time. Every time it boots, i have to re-enter the preferred language. Thank for any help!

I've had this monitor for years and now when i pug it into any computer it is black. i know it is getting something to the monitor because when i plug it into a com. it turns a different shade of black. Plus when i turn the monitor off then back on it show me a quick glimpse of what the screeen should look like if it worked. i presume there is a short in the monitor. i believe it is a cft monitor. b4 i open it up i want to know if there is a simple diagnoses. oh and i did try messing with the brightness and contrast. i wouldn't be suprised if i had to open the monitor. i le it sit for a few days to allow the capacitors to discharge. i am really good with a soldering iron so if i have to replace a resitor or capacitor it'll be fine. and p.s. is there a way make a tesla coil out of simple parts like a day creation? and to all those who have jailbroken ipods and iphones with installer is anyone els experiancing problems downloading Cracked apps? thanks -miiwii3 some one help

It still plays and you can ad songs the physical glass on top is not broken instead I think it is the screen under the glass that is broken, not sure though. Hey, I have this 10w bass amplifier for home practice. Problem is that it gives no sound through the speaker, but it works fine through the headphone output. I have Checked the fuse, which was ok. I have also connected other speakers to the amplifier to see if it is the speaker itself that is broken, it seems like it is not. Seems like quite a curious problem, but can it be fixed? It sure would be nice to play without headphones again.
