C Help

I'm working on an electronic project for school, and I've been trying to learn C, I have a quick question, I think the answer is a function, but I don't know and I need an example. Basically I want something where I can break up the code into sections (I'm pretty sure it's called a function) and bring them all back together in the main() for example, lets say I want to have a function to turn on an led, then I have a different function to wait for so long, and then another function to turn it off, except I can control what LED I want to turn on/off and for how long (I want to be able to input to the function) Once again, I'm pretty sure it's called a function, I just don't know how to use them.

Electroni-C

This is similar to my other topic, but I think it's worth a new topicmy company will be called electroni-C (pronounced electroni-see)I came up with cool marketing groups and product names, such as:electroni-CHIPSflavors: original (a bunch of generic boards that makes breadboarding easier, such as a 555 board, potentiometers that actually work with bread boards, a couple of mini powersupplies, jumpers, breadboard to aligator adapters, etcspicy: A lot of power stuff, like powersupplies, not just for breadboards, but for real finished projects, such as a circuit similar to mintyboost (but not the same, it'll be like a DIP package)optical (better name needs to be thought of) various LEDs, led drivers, optical sensors, and some logic to make everything useful. LED displays with integrated resistors for 5 volt (useful for less solder joints and less mess on a breadboard.caffine: motors, H-bridges, relays w/ saftey diode, servos, etc.Electroni-COOKIESNames are TBD, but here's what they are. They are called cookies because they are bigger and come in a box (oppose to a bag like electron-CHIPSdecade resistor control boxdecade capacitor control boxdecade inductor boxa big power supplyelectroni-CUSTOMIZEcustom PCB and plexi etchingelectroni-CASEcustom enclosures (basically a generic enclosure that has holes and squares cut out specifically where you want them)electroni-KITS (better name that begins with C needs to be found)H-bridge12volt regulated powersupply9volt regulated powersupply5volt regulated powersupply3.3volt regulated powersupplyR/C equipmentpulsing music LEDsthe resonator (just you wait!)lucid dream machinethe diode calculator (using thousands of diodes and switches for input, you can make a calculator, plus some resistors for the LED display)I will also carry some basic components such as resistors, LEDs, capacitors, etc..suggestions are appreciated!EDIT: website is in development.. uhhh.. by mehere's the site, all pictures were done by meI would like my own URL, but eh, wacha gunna do for freehttp://sites.google.com/site/electronisea/Home

R/C

Hi, I'm making plans for a remote control car from scratch, and have a few questions. Are hobby motors able to go backwards, how do you control that? Any ideas on making a wireless usb cord for a webcam? Do you know of any small things (like motors) that could move a switch remotely for the steering mechanism? Any other ideas?

USB type C

Greetings, USB type c please? So I have spent alot of time researching different ways to light small ornament designs. I have considered EL lighting and LED, yet, in order for these lighting techniques to work sufficiently, you need 12v of power. There are Instructables to power these lightning methods per USB, however this ofcourse only provides the lightning with 5v. What I find quite surprising however is that there are no tutorials whatsoever with the new usb type: USB-C. Since USB-C can apparently provide 20v I wonder why there is little to no information available concerning these subjects. Are there technical limitations I dont know about? If not: would anyone please help me make usb-c powered led strips ^^

R/C Sailboat

I want to make a R/C sailboat, so far I have 4x32x1/4 inch balsa wood planks and they should last me the entire project. This weekend I'm going to visit a hobby store and get: waterproof wood glue, waterproofer for the wood. Then go to target and get a rotary tool. The boat will be 3 inches tall with a 1 inch keel (keeps the boat from tipping) 5 inches wide and 15 inches tall. I will get a cheap multi directional R/C car and use the steering mechanism to move the rudder and the drive motor to turn the sail. Once I make the boat I'll fill the gaps with wood paste and water proof everything hopefuly with a silicon based sealant. Any tips or flaws with my plans, please see the attached sketch.

Things to do with C Batteries?

For a while my wife had to use this special medical machine that ran on c batteries.  every week the hospital would send us a box batteries even tho they were lasting about a month.  We kept telling them that we didn't need more but they said that they were required to send them anyway.  Now that she's off the machine I have all these batteries and nothing that uses them.  Everything that i've found on Amazon is very expensive.    I'm into woodworking and no absolutely nothing about electrical stuff or I'd design something myself.    anybody have any cool projects using c batteries? as one project idea, I have several of these lantern flashlights that run on d's.  it would be cool to convert those to run on c's.

Battery Power Capability (C)

I'm trying to understand a little bit more about batteries. I've learnt so far: "Volts,  amps, and  watts measure electricity. Volts measure the “pressure” under which electricity flows. Amps measure the amount of electric current. Watts measure the amount of work done by a certain amount of current at a certain pressure or voltage." Now I'm interested in knowing the maximum amount of energy you can draw from a battery at any one time. I presume you can't instantly drain a batteries full energy capacity at any one time. I have read that: "The way the power capability is measured is in C's. A C is the Amp-hour capacity divided by 1 hour. So the C of a 2Ah battery is 2A. The amount of current a battery 'likes' to have drawn from it is measured in C. The higher the C the more current you can draw from the battery without exhausting it prematurely. Lead acid batteries can have very high C values (10C or higher) , and lithium coin cells have very low ones (0.01C)" Am I write in saying a 1.2V 1200mAh has a power capability of 1.2C? In which case I should only ever draw 1.2C or less to preserve the battery? How do I increase this amount when using 2 batteries, if I wire two batteries together does the power capability increase to 2.4C for the above example batteries? If so do I have to wire them in parallel or series for this to work? Thank you.

Mod a mini R/C?

Hey all, I recently started looking into modding some of the stuff i have lying around and I came across an old mini r/c car that are only about an inch long. (see photos) Anyways i got down into it, but I really don't know what I'm doing, i was just wondering if anyone could come up with a mod for it. so far I've managed to hook the little r/c car to a plug so that it had a constant electric supply, which kinda defeats it's purpose, but was good to figure out anyways I thought. Thanks! (despite the fact I googled for the image and took one of the first 5, this actually is the exact model I have. surprisingly convenient, thanks google!)

A/C a room with Peltier units.? Answered

Would building an array of peltier units in a windows frame work to cool down a room? This way hot air would stay outside and the inside "windows" would be cold. Either using heatsink and multiples computer fans to throw air in room or pumping water in pipes then on the units then to a big fan. Also, could this run on solar cells placed on the outside?

Convert A/C to Battery Pack?

Ok here is what i wanna do, and your all gonna think I am crazy, but this is mostly for my little girl.  I want to take a very cheap dvd player and another cheap video screen, (the kind you find for the back of auto head rests) and glue them together, make a battery pack, and wire the two together to the pack and, the point is I have the devices and they both are rather low energy draw devices, so i just need to know if I can make a battery pack or perhapse a radioshack project battery holder and how many batts I would need etc.. I will admit the math is a bit confusing for me. but here it is, the dvd player is rated as AC 120 v, and it says it has a draw of 10w, which if I am not mistaken is very low drain and awesome for an ac device.  the monitor is DC with an adapter but can also have an optional car adapter (which I don't have, but I would just use the transformer's cord/jack to wire it in.)  The back of the monitor says it's DC output is 1.2A and again 12v and the transformer itself says it's input is 24w.  So if my math is right, I am looking to make a battery supply to support a total of 34 watts and then I will use both cords to wire them parallel to a battery pack that I need to make, so where I need the help is what kind of a batt pack do I need to make or is it even possible?
