Controlling a servo with a Micro-controller?

So I decided to spend some time to make a "gimbal" in a very loose sense. Basically I was experimenting using a square wave oscillator to generate the correct PWM to have a servo rotate between 0 and 180 degrees when a tilt sensor is tripped. After some research multiple sites said having a 1ms pulse every 20ms would have it move to the 0 degree position. Great so I will make a oscillator pulses ~1ms on one side and 19ms on the other. However this does not seem to be working. I am curious if it is a fault in my math or if the tolerance on the parts I am using are just too wide to be any good. Here is a diagram of my set-up with the values a came up with. One spot that may be weak is that I just notice someone somewhere mentioned using 50Hz for the timing I just used that number when I calc my figures. Any feedback?  Also a side note is that I have been able to move the servo in one direction only and by accident ( in fact it's what inspired this project) when C1 & C2 were 2.2nF and the R1 & R2 were 10k potentiometers that I turned until something happened. Now that I am trying on purpose no results.

Controller Camera

I'm new to this sorry. I want to make a wireless contolled camera or some thing that use either the ps1 or n64 controllers. Like if you press X it will take the photo. I want to have a display near or on the controller so it can be viewed with out the camera. As well as a usb cable so it can plug directly into the pc. I know it sounds like a lot too but I have most of the parts.

Temp controller

I need to activate a garage door opener  with temp control. Opener uses momentary switches   There is a solarium on the out side of my shop garage door, When the temp between the door and the solarium reaches +/- 90 degrees  the door would open and +/-60 degrees the door would shut. Because the opener needs momentary contacts a regular thermostat  will not work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

iTunes controller?

I'm not sure if I was searching for the right key words, but I was planning on building a desk with all of my computer components built into it, save the monitor keyboard and mouse, and I wanted to make like a little controller for iTunes that controlls random, repeat, next song, previous song, pause, and play. Like, would it be possible to take apart a spare remote control and use the circuitry and buttons from that to do it? Is it even possible? Also, this will be on a Windows 7 PC

Hello, peoples! I want to install a second xbox 360 controller onto my PC, so that my brother and I can play games together without me having to use the keyboard and mouse and having much rage quit happen. But, the lovely people at Microsoft say that it isn't possible to install more than one controller on a PC, but I know that's bull because I've seen people do it before.  I already have one installed; I have the driver and everything. But my computer doesn't even look at the second controller like it exists.  What is wrong, how do I fix it and how can I make gaming easier? Thank you for your time!!

charge controller

Question for you all. I have a solar powered spot light I really like, when it's charged up. It has a 6vdc 4ah battery in it and I wish to re-charge it from my 12vdc system. Source power will be my 12vdc 160 ah battery and I'm thinking of using my extra 12vdc charge controller with a 3.5 ohm / 1 watt (or better) resistor attached to reduce the power to 6vdc. I believe that will work, but I don't know if the controller will know when the battery has reached capacity? The other thought is to just by-pass the 6vdc battery and run the light from the 12vdc system (using the resistor to reduce the power). Any thoughts?

PS360 Controller

I'm planning on making an Xbox controller with a dualshock 3 controller inside.  I'll be making one for me, but I'm looking to earn some money so I'm curious if anybody would be interested in buying a second one for themselves.  Keep in mind this won't be cheap, it will cost up to $100 in parts alone.  While I don't have a lot of experience, I have a lot of skill (see my tvbgone sonic screwdriver for an example). Lastly, keep in mind this is not a sale yet, just gauging interest so I know whether or to make a second one.  Leave comments here on requests for aesthetic features, and PM me if you have a price you'd be willing to pay.  Please only reply if you're serious.  Expect to see a sale post sometime in July, I'll be going by best offer.

REMOTE CONTROL

Someone can advice me what switch is suitable to use in my remote control. I had tried push button however it does not compatible with the coding (I'm using chipkit UNO32). My intention is to make the user select AUTO mode or MANUAL Mode. After selecting, the user will be asked to select speed and duration. So this requires a lot of loop-inside-a-loop, if-inside-if etc. When I'm using push button, the microcontroller cannot read the command when the second button is push. I heard, if using push button I need electronic relay.

accelerometer controller

Hi I’m making an accelerometer (3-axis) that I want to be able to work in some programs and games. I haven’t built any tech´s before. Hehe so plz replay with easy words. There are some tutorials out there which are based on an old game controller and stuff. But I want to do my on an Arduino board with a USB connection or wireless connection. Here is a tricky part, I want it to fit a cube chassi that is around 7-10 centimeters, I haven’t done it yet so that’s why I put it to 7-10 cm because I have still time to make it bigger or smaller. I don’t know much about the wireless connection and battery to make these things. I know I’m sounding like someone that doesn’t have a clue about these things and it’s true, I want to learn it and make this controller. If someone can tell me more about this sort of project or tips me to a tutorial or something it would be excellent.

Heating Control

I have been thinking for some years now that I would like to have finer control over my central heating. The problem Now we are older we feel the cold more so in winter the heating is on all the time. This means that we have to keep altering the thermostat on each radiator at different times of the day or just leave them and so waste energy. One method means wasting energy but the other means rooms will be colder than we want initially.   The system and what i have We have a combination boiler which has a digital timer and also on the panel are temperature controls for hot water and radiator temperature. Each radiator has a thermostatic valve so each room can have it's temperature set independently. I have a computer which runs 24/7 and also a bit whacker which I can control via python code and electronics has been a hobby for over 50 years My idea I would like to have some system which would allow me to adjust each room temperature via computer control.   Possible solutions Solution 1 Fit a stepper motor to each thermostatic valve to adjust it at different times of the day/night. This would allow precise control but would be quite expensive to set up. Solution 2 Fit a small structure round each valve with a filament bulb or resistance wire in the bottom so that when power is applied to it then the temperature around the valve will rise and so the valve will close or, at least partially close. I think this would be much cheaper to implement but would have the small on-going cost of using power to the bulbs whenever the room temperature needs to be cooler that it would normally be. My initial plan Build a small structure around one of the valves with a low voltage bulb in it. It would have vents at top and bottom and so air would circulate. I have a portable digital thermometer so i could gather information and try different bulbs to see how much power would be needed and therefore what the on-going cost would be. Also try various shapes of structure to see what the effect would be.   So guys what do you think?

Quality control

First, let me just say how much I love Instuctables.com......I really can't remember....not one single time this year, not checking in here for even ONE SINGLE DAY!! It is my go-to place!! That said, I've kinda been thinking about the amounts of digital "clutter" that exist here. Now, I myself have only put up two instructables......so I wouldn't claim to be a MAJOR contributor, by any definition...........but what I mean is....... there are some instrutables here that are just junk!  Some kid zipped in here 4 years ago, put up something he (so-called) "made" with a piece of notebook paper and and a stick......no photos or the photos are garbage, and he hasn't been back since. A few bad ratings, and a couple of bad comments....and that's it.  Has anyone ever discussed any sort of "juried" process after awhile?  I dunno.....maybe it's a bad idea, and god knows my work here isn't Smithsonian quality material, but I did put a'lot of thought into it, and I love the community here! I just think if something has less than two stars after 3 years and all the comments are wretched.......it should maybe be removed. Such an action can be announced, maybe, or voting or something. .....just food for thought. C

Treadmill Motor Control

I have a Horizon T101-04 treadmill that has a control problem. The motor is definitely good. I suspect that the motor control board is good, and the control panel board is bad. The control will not reset or go into diagnostic mode. I want to replace either the control panel board or the entire control system. The motor is 90V DC. For amperage, the motor label says "19A S6 25%" which has no meaning that I understand, other than perhaps that the maximum amperage is 19. The label says "APMS" rather than "AMPS", and I wonder if the "S6" is supposed to be "SC" for "stall current." All of the characters on the label are very legible. To replace the entire set of controls, I can use an industrial DC motor control, but how much horsepower does the control actually need to be able to provide? I don't think that the one on the treadmill actually provides 19A, and is probably close to 1 HP or so in its capability.  To replace the control panel with something else and keep the existing motor control, what do I need? Do I need some type of complex driver circuit? Does it need feed back from tach sensor to do a good job of keeping the speed steady?  If it will work well, I want a simple control set up like a KB Electronics KBMD-240D to which I will add a safety cut-off switch with a lanyard.
