Zombie RPG / D&D Style Game

For ZSDW: I've been in the zombie hype for awhile, (about a year ago,) and after finishing a couple of Zplans, I decide it would be fun to kill some zombies with dice and statistics. Alas, this is quite the beta, and it generally uses d6's, as well as some skewed grammar and stats. First things first. You are not a specified character. You have no character sheet, you have no special abilites. The following few paragraph will explain a few confusing things, and give hints on how your location will affect your game. Then, there will basic weapon stats. Later, there will be about how zombies affect you, and what kinds of zombies there are, and their health. You will also learn how you can scrounge for stuff from bodies.  Subdivide means to roll for what section it is applicable for. Say your about to go into a room, you would roll for SURVIVOR and ZACH Room check. Say you get a four(4). That means there is something in the room. You would then decide if it was locked. (Unnecessary, but for extra gameplay, most are going to be locked. Hit the lock with something, and roll for it's regular attack. If the attack is successful, you broke the lock. If not, well, you may have to literally blow up the door, or say that you cannot go into the room.) Let's say no lock for times sake. Now, you know something/someone is in there. Subdivide by rolling what it is. Second line of Survivor and Zach Room Check shows this. Luckily, you roll a one(1). That means a Military person is in the room. They can have Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Rifles with Scoped subclass, And Scatterguns with the Breacher Barrel subclass. You can only find them in Military bases, Start Variable Location:Warzone, or ALERTNESS Yellow or higher. When moving through a house, roll for room encounters. You may roll for how many rooms you must go through,( If I roll 5, I need to go through 5 rooms before getting out, or to destination around/in house) so you must roll for encounters/room searches while in those rooms.(You would roll 5 times in this case for People and Zach Room check rolls.)  In a house, you may roll for RUN, so 1-2 success, and go to the next room. 4-6, unsuccessful, roll for Scratch. (1-3 Scratched, 4-6 safe.)   ALERTNESS is just a guide for what zombies are available to kill. The ALERTNESS bar is unnecessary; however it adds another angle to the game. It is at the back of this guide.  Ideas, Tips and Otherwise: Tanks, APCs, Pickups, convenience stores, Molotov Cocktail, Improvised weapons, have some fun, and add to this game! Make up some weapons, apply variable splash damage, and just make sure you kill some Zach!   Your start variables should be placed on a separate sheet, for reference. Say for location you picked rainforest/jungle, (your geography, weather, and season fits that description.) you will need/want to roll for Scratches more. (For realism, generally, there will be more crawlers, same with Aristriked Urban.) Same for Urban, and Airstriked-Urban, (Broken buildings, rubble, etc.) or Warzone. (More military personnel. Tanks? Have some fun! :)  START VARIABLES (At the top of the game sheet.) Location: Geography: Weather: Season: # Zach's: Zach's Location: Population Density: Specialized Setting: Attack Rolls: Locks (Y/N): Scratch (Y/N): Alertness Level (Y/N): Supplies (Y/N): Leg Break (Y/N): Travel Days (Y/N):   Supplies is a form of food, ammunition, and other necessary items for a single day. Each survivor in your current group takes 1 supply per day. Supplies can be found by subdividing if your preceding ROOM SEARCH roll is 1-2. If Travel Days is active/applicable, your group takes only 4 supplies per day, individual people in your group do not take any supplies, and you cannot be attacked by Z's. Travel Days are good if you have more than 4 people in your group, and have low health, or need to get somewhere. BITES are fatal, you take 3 supplies when bitten, then the following day you become a Z. Your group can take your weapons. SCRATCH'S are non-fatal; you take 2 supplies for 3 days. (7supplies, because of the one you took the day you were bitten, then the 6 you will take for the following days.) For all melee attacks, roll for bone breaks. 1-2 break, 3-5 Scratched, 6 safe. Scratch disables RANGED and FIREARMS attacks. For disabled, or failed melee attacks, 1-2 = arms, or arm, 3-4 =legs, or leg, 5-6 = chest or neck break. A Neck Break Disable turns Zach melee attacks to 2 bitten, 1 and 3 scratched, 4-6 safe. Arms/Legs breaks decreases that zombies fighting ability to 2 bitten, 1 and 3 scratched, 4-5 safe, 6 breaks leg of human.  When a human has a leg broken, he/she takes two supplies per day, and halves the amount of current PTD. (Play Time per Day)   To determine the time a day takes to complete, roll for the PTD, or Play Time per Day. This is found by rolling a 6 sided dice, then multiplying the number on the dice by 3. This is approximately how long a "day" is in the ZRPG, in minutes. You will need a watch or timer to play this game, if you want to apply PTD.  FIREARMS Scattergun(Shotgun) = 1-3 hit, 4-6 miss, Melee 1-4 hit, 5-6 disabled. RANGE:3 This affects a maximum of 3 Zs. Roll for 1-2 1 Zach affected, 3-4 2 Zach affected, 5-6 3 Zach affected. Sub-Class: Breacher Barrel, 1-2 hit, instant death upon Z's, breaches locked doors/drywall (Apartments, this happens if you like to shoot stuff, or the lock you just suck at opening wont unlock,). Pistol = 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss. RANGE: 4 Melee 1-3 hit, 4-6 failed, if failed, roll for scratches, Z is disabled if successful hit. Subdivide for disable type. RANGE: 1 Sub-Class: Laser, 1-5 hit, 6 miss. RANGE: 5 Rifle = 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss. RANGE: 10 Melee 1-2 hit, instant kill, 3-5 disabled, 6 scratched. RANGE: 2 Sub-Class: Sighting-Laser, 1-4 hit, 5 miss, 6 disable. RANGE: 12.  Bayonet, see knife attack roll. Scope, 1-9 successful on 12 sided die. RANGE: 16 Assault Rifle = 1-4 hit, 5 miss, 6 instant kill or disable, you pick. RANGE: 14 Sub-Class: Grenade Launcher, 1-4, instant 4 Z's kill, when applicable. 5-6 miss Blows open walls/doors, when you fail  assault rifle as a prerequisite to use a grenade launcher. Sub-Machine gun: 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss. Has a three round burst, you can hit a Z 3 times, or 3 Z’s 1 time each, or any combination thereof. Sub-Class:   BLUNTS Crowbar = 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss. Sub-Class: N/A 2x4 = 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss. Sub-Class: Additional Spike/Nail 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss, roll for instant kill, or instant disable. Sheet Metal Tipped, instant disable 1-4, 5-6 miss. Bat = 2-5 hit, 1 and 6 miss. Sub-Class:Aluminum Bat, 1-3 and 6 hit, 4 bat bends (You cannot use the bat anymore)                                        5 miss, instant disable if hit is successful.                    Steel Bat 2-5 hit, 1 and 6 miss, instant kill if hit is true. Sledgehammer = 1-3 hit, 4-6 miss, roll for Scratch if hit is false, insant disable/kill, subdivide for odd/even. You cannot attack next round, but you can use a secondary. Sub-Class: Industrial size, 1-5 hit, 6 miss, instant kill, Scratch if miss. You can only use this once per battle, however at the cost of a Scratch, you may use it again.   SHARPS Axe = 1-2 hit, 3-6 miss, instant kill. You can only use this once per battle, however at the cost of a Scratch, you may use it again. Sub-Class:Double Sided axe, 1-3 hit, kills 2 Z's. You may use this twice on your turn, You can only use this once per battle, however at the cost of a Scratch, you may use it again. Hatchet = Melee, 1-4 hit, 5-6 miss, Thrown, 1-2 hit, 3-6 miss, if hit, roll = 1-3, disabled, 4-6 instant kill Sword = 1-3 hit, 4-6 miss. Sub-Class:Alcohol Bomb, 1-6 hit, no misses. 2 Alcohol Bombs kill a Z, 2 days. Starts building fire.   Room Search Rolls: WEAPON SEARCH: 1 = FIREARMS, Subdivide for type, pistols and scatters only 2-4 = SHARP, 5 = BLUNT,  6 = RANGED, no Crossbows/Archers Bow. ITEM SEARCH: 1-2 = Supplies, when applicable. This is probably CVS's Walgreens, SURVIVOR and ZACH ROOM CHECK: For a room check, use a d20.  1-4 Z-Encounter, 6-9 survivor, 10-15 nothing, 16-20 supplies. If you roll 16-20, roll a d6. Small gun :D

Hey, so I came across these pictures of this gun I made a while ago that was a modified version of my "Newest Gun". This one isn't to different except its has a sliding trigger that is a lot more strong than the previous one. I basically made this to get rid of the trigger mech on the top which I think is pretty ugly, anyways hope you enjoy!

Here is a link to my featured Instructable What I'd like to make for someone: maybe a kool lookin' clock, from an instructable on this site =D I'd be willing to make this size gift package for someone (choose all that apply): (S,M,L): I will make a smallish medium object I'd be willing to receive a smaller or larger size gift package from someone than the one I make for someone else: sure! What I like: electronics, computer stuff, gadgets, soccer, steam plunk, jewelry (necklaces/bracelets), Antique/refurbished items. What I don't like: taxidermy, food items, lawn gnomes, pink/girly items I absolutely can't have: alcohol, and I cannot have scallops due to allergies, but I doubt that is anyone's gift idea ;) Type of thing I'd love to receive: I would like if it fits into one of my interests categories, or a surprise would be nice! paracord bracelet d shackle

Hi, I've made a few paracord bracelets mostly with the plastic buckles. I bought some stainless d shackles and wondering if there are any dangers using the shackles? Mainly getting the bracelet caught on something. I would think the plastic buckles would break, where the metal d shackles won't. I see a lot of bracelets with the d shackles. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

D-Pad data compression?

So, I'm working on a small, simple, and yet very inefficient game console using multiple ATmega328 chips. Basically, I'm trying to compress the controller data into as few wires as possible using an ATmega. Hopefully using something along the lines of http://pinouts.ru/Game/genesiscontroller_pinout.shtml. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I can handle coding, it's just the actual logic of it.

LED and wiring help :D

I am planning on making a small plant grow light for a locker but could use some assistance with some electrical components and wiring. I wanted to run a fair some of LEDs off of a battery to help grow a plant in an otherwise enclosed space. I need to find an appropriate arrangement so that I am not changing batteries all the time. I would also like the lights to turn on and off every 12 or so hours. How would I go about setting up the LEDs but even more than that how and what would I use to set up a battery powered timer?

D Day Fast Approaching

Yup, this weekend marks the deadline where kids pay their deposit to commit to the college that they will attend in the fall. It's a major landmark decision for all and I wish the best of luck to those part of the Class of 2020.  Hopefully all were able to make an informed decision of their choice and will be happy wherever they go. So here are some random thoughts on the process: Applying for college is way different now then from I went through it - Why did all of you do applications for more than 10 colleges? (Is it more trying to game the system for admissions, although colleges game it for their stats rankings, and raking up fees by those testing services/prep courses/financial aid forms) Many are emotionally unprepared for the rejection that comes along with it. Many are emotionally unprepared for the realization that most colleges are super expensive and may not be affordable even if you are accepted. It may appear senseless in who gets in and further who gets merit scholarships or full ride to some places. There is an air of mass hysteria during that wait period for the admission decisions to come out. Certain college forums out there seem to feed on that. Don't chance it. Hard to say what is worse, filling out the CSS Profile financial aid forms or going through a TSA checkpoint on a bad day. Gotta love the financial aid letters stating the school is pleased to offer you a sizeable loan to send your kid to college. I have to say we have been fortunate to be able to make our final decision a few weeks ago. I am also fortunate to have won many instructables contests with t-shirts as prizes. That will be her wardrobe for the next 4 or 5 years.

AAA cell vs. D cell

This question has been bugging me for a while now. What's the difference between a 1.5v AAA cell battery and a 1.5v D cell battery? Why is the D cell bigger? Is that just for weight, or does have more resistance, like it lasts longer? Why is one better? Thanks!

D-Flip Flop and Clock Alarm

Hey there! I'm trying to hook up one Set Pin of a 74LS74 Double D-Flip Flop to the alarm of my clock. I've already desoldered the annoying buzzer thats been there before and am now measuring the voltage provided to the buzzer. Unfortunately the circuit only provides around 0.1-0.7V (crescendo alert) with each beep, which doesn't seem to be enough to raise the Set Pin to HIGH (0.8V min. I think). So I guess I'm supposed to use some kind of transistor now. Just to make sure I'm asking you guys. Also, if I want to run the clock from a 5V DC wall wart instead of the original 1.5V battery, I suppose the only thing I need to add are some resistors in series. Would that be correct or would there be anything else needed to ensure the clock takes no damage? Would be really nice if someone could help me out with this! Best regards, Philipp

Hey, All! I'm Relocating! :D

A select few of you who stalk me visit my persona often may have noticed that I changed my location. Well, the reason for that is that my family is on the move again. When I joined Instructables in 4th Quarter 2006, I lived in Texas. Soon after that, we moved to Georgia and now we're off to Florida, from whence I hail. The house we'll be moving into is by far the greatest I've yet to live on. It's situated on a canal that leads out to the Atlantic, it has a pool, two stories, a second master bedroom that I get to share with my brother, and it just looks really cool. Built in the 60's, this house has some serious personality. With every move comes a new school. Mom wants to send me to a Catholic school again (ugh). At least this time it's co-ed, but it still doesn't have a marching band, which is the #1 reason why I prefer a public education.Well, guys, don't freak out if I go MIA over the next few weeks; moving's a contact sport and there's a lot involved if you're not familiar with the process (Eric knows what I mean, don't you? ;-) Dad wants to leave by Friday, and we just starting packing yesterday, so wish us luck. See you all later!

glass table? (is this where this goes? :D)

I recently obtained for a fair price a cut piece of glass from goodwill. its rounded slightly at the sides and greatly at the corners. at the widest point it is approximately 52" by 24". its 3/8" thick-its fairly heavy as you could imagine. I mean i can pick it up by myself but its worrying me what to build the actual support out of. I was thinking to have 2 tubes pipes or cylinders at equal distances from the right and left edges-it would be at least 10 inches away from the edge on each side, leaving what, 32 inches in between them? Now my question is whats the cheapest way of doing this. i didnt THINK i would use PVC, but i dont have the slightest clue how much it could support, so idk. Aluminum tubing is cheap for smaller sizes, is that better? Id give a weight estimate but im terrible at estimating things based off my senses so thats a bad idea. Maybe you can get an idea off the dimensions. I can spend at max 15 bucks for PVC or aluminum. oh, and the desk is gonna be around 30 inches tall. so 5 feet is just enough. Also, what would be a good idea to place the cylinders on top of for balance? At this point, all i need to do is keep the glass 30 inches off the ground with ~3 feet of space for me to slide my chair into (although its really not a neccessity because itll be out alot anyway.) with a 15 dollar budget. any sugestions?

Hey guys, first post here, so be kind, I suppose. :PI'm building a set of speakers, loosely based off of the super loud, super long lasting speakers instructable (found here https://www.instructables.com/id/super-portable-super-loud-long-lasting-battery-/ ) I wanted to take these, and make them significantly better.First of all, I was going to substitute in car speakers. The upside of that is that I also get bass without having to go out and buy woofers and wire up a crossover. I've been looking around on partsexpress, and it seems like most have an impedence of 4 ohms, and range from 75 to 150 RMS. I'm aware that the general rule of thumb is that you double the RMS for the amplifier. However, I'm not sure about soe of the other parts. Should the speakers be wired in series or parallel? If they're wired in parallel, should I be looking for an amp with 2 ohms of resistance, since it's two speakers at 4 ohms? If not, can speakers be easily wired in series?Next question, batteries. Where in the hell do I get some good LiPo batteries? I know this thing is going to go through electricity like candy, so I want high wattage and high capacity. The wattage brings me to my last question. These speakers are rated for a maximum input of 70 watts or more. I can't get a battery to go anywhere near that capacity. Will the speakers be harmed by a lower wattage supply? Significantly lower, I might add, most probably not more than twelve, even if I array the batteries into my own pack. How will that affect the speakers?Sorry, one last; concerning the rule of thumb in which you should double the voltage of the speakers RMS for your amp, if I can't find an amp that does that exactly, should I have my amp be slightly overpowered, or slightly underpowered? Thanks for all the help on this one :)

My Chemical Romance Update =D

My Chemical Romance will go on a temporary break while they seek inspiration to write a new album."We can't make any more music unless we live. When we get a chance, we're going to get together and do some demos and start rolling. But we're going to take it slow,” frontman Gerard Way said. The band took two years to tour in support of their last album, 2006’s The Black Parade. {Posted from The Star}Things have been a little quiet since My Chemical Romance killed off their alter egos, The Black Parade, back in may at New York's legendary Madison Square Garden venue. However frontman Gerard Way has posted a massssiiiivvvveeee update answering all your questions about the new album, how drummer Bob Bryer is after recent wrist surgery, how guitarist Ray Toro's wedding went, what Frank Iero's been up to with his side-band, Leathermouth, as well as quashing internet rumours that he recently died in a car crash. It reads as follows:"Hey guys, Gerard here... I'm hanging out with Mikey in New Jersey, relaxing, drinking coffee, talking comics, and getting ready to take a drive down south tomorrow. I don't know what states I'm passing through but I know where I'm heading. Don't worry, I've got a the Clockwork Orange audiobook, a Dr. Pepper air-freshener, and a GPS so I don't get lost. We figured by now everyone that's a fan of the band might be wondering what we're up to, what we're planning, so I thought I'd write this letter and fill you all in."We're living, decompressing - The Black Parade took over two years to tour and six months to make so that's a lot of existing in a fictional world, and we're just extremely happy to live in a real one for a while. One thing I can let you know is that we're excited. Genuinely more excited than we have ever been to be in this band, make some new music. And we have ALL been writing new material in our own separate worlds... I started a week after I got home, buying a good rig, an old Jag, and a bunch of pedals- just searching for the next sound."Bob is recovering well from his recent wrist surgery - exceedingly well considering how risky the procedure can be. We're all really happy that when he picks up the sticks again he won't be in the intense pain he was in during the last year of touring. It's going to take him a while to rehabilitate but knowing him, he will most likely be playing the drums before the doctor says it's a good idea. He just loves playing, we all do. Franks on the road with Leathermouth and Reggie and The Full Effect so you should go see them and get spit on. I know Leathermouth doesn't have a record out yet, but Frank gave it to me in Mexico and I can easily say it's my favourite post-hardcore record of the year, so I know you will at least enjoy the songs if you don't know the words."One of the best parts of the last five months was getting to see Ray get married and all of us be a part of the wedding. It was beautiful. I'm not sure where the happy couple is right now but I am sure wherever they are, they are really enjoying it. I have never seen him happier in my life. So we made plans to get together soon and make some demos, see where our heads are at, take it slow. If explosions happen in our heads right away who knows how soon we could have a record out, we aren't in any rush but we get just as anxious as you to find out what the next 'thing' is going to be."So that about wraps it up... I'm glad I could stop by for a chat, I think I will do it more often. I'm writing more comics, writing more music, and missing my wife right now. Oh, and I heard a rumour that I died in a car accident. I didn't."[{Posted from Kerrang!}]

The Instructables Knex Tournament - with Prizes! :D

The Knex TournamentI am NO knexer. At all (I lie, I have a Knex pocket turret I designed sitting next to me right now. Whatever.) I have posted no Knex Instructables, no forum topics besides this, and only have half a blue tub of Knex in my basement. So why the &%! would I post a Knex contest, and offer fabulous prizes (look below)?Recently, for those who don't know, an argument in the Knex section has been going on. Quite a few Knexers, angered by their in-ability to pay for Pro (I need a pro judge! Look below), have left Instructables for a clone known as Knex Innovation, which is a Knex site similar to Instructables, but with higher criteria and no 'Non-Knexers". This gets me down. Instructables is a great site, and a substantial group leaving it makes me angry, esp. as it is over a small issue. However, one of their complaints- that Instructables does not cater to Knex- is completely true. There have been no official contests, and all the user-run ones are small. So here is a contest that I hope will draw those Knexers back to Instructables, while also improving the Knex image. Rules:Your entry MUST be original. No mods on anything existing. Borrowing parts from other builds is allowed with original author's permission. A PM will do.Your Entry must be completely Knex and rubber bands. For a complete list of allowed materials, check below.Your entry must be posted in Instructable format, with complete and readable instructions. For more detail, check "Criteria"Your entry must have good spelling and grammar. Entries without will be disqualified, within reason ( a few mistakes are fine.) If you are foreign, please send me a link to your unpublished 'ible, and i will correct as many mistakes as I find.Criteria for Judging:How well it worksAesthetics (PRETTY!!!)It must be clear and easy to follow, No "follow the pics". You must state, in both word and image format, how to do each step, with piece by piece instructions.GrammarSpellingAny additional rules stated in the roundAllowed Materials:Knex (Duh)Knex motorsRubber bandsTape (in moderation)Please ask if in doubt or if you wish to incorporate other materials.Prizes (Yay!)Grand Prize (1 winner)Either $10 or a tub of Knex. (Aren't I generous!)First Prize (1 winner)$5 or a quart bag of Knex.Second Prize (2 winners)A digital Knex PatchLargest Entry (1 winner)A digital Knex PatchAll Other EntrantsA digital Pat on the BackPlease note that, due to parental restraints, the contest organizer may be unable to provide prizes, and reserves the right to change or get rid of any prize at any time. Prizes can only be shipped within the U.S and Canada, participants from other countries will receive alternatives instead.Judging:Here is how the judging will work. There will be two non-knexer judges (myself and one Pro person, who is willing to provide prize patches) and two knexer. All entries will be up for judging by the people, and any person who wishes (including judges) can post their three votes IN THE THREAD FOR THAT ROUND. Votes posted anywhere else will be ignored. The top fifteen in the first round will advance, then the top ten. The third round is the judgment round. The judges, and only the judges, will vote and discuss over PM or AIM or something until we pick the winners (but largest entry can be from any round). got that? ABS Recycler for 3-D Printer Filament

Many inexpensive 3-D Printers use ABS filament as feedstock. This filament is not cheap and being a plastic, it is a substance that demands recycling efforts. Imagine a small 3-D printer that you use to produce useful household items with. Here is an example Instructable illustrating what I am talking about. Now imagine that you no longer need an item that you have made. You toss it into the hopper of the machine that I have in mind and it is ground into small pieces. These pieces are then melted with acetone and extruded anew into ABS filament for your 3-D printer! It may be possible to recover the acetone during the extrusion process since the acetone evaporates to restore the ABS.

3-D Baseball Card Webcam System

In an effort to bring baseball card trading into the 21st century, and aid falling revenues, playing card manufacturer Topps developed an interactive 3-D baseball card experience using specialized cards and a computer webcam."Since the 1950s, Topps has sold baseball trading cards filled with photos and stats, bringing the game to life. Now the company is bringing its cards to life.""Beginning Monday, collectors who hold a special Topps 3D Live baseball card in front of a webcam will see a three-dimensional avatar of the player on the computer screen. Rotate the card, and the figure rotates in full perspective. It's called 'augmented reality,' a combination of a real image with a virtual one."Webcam Brings 3-D to Topps Sports Cards The New York TimesTopps 3-D Live Toppstown.com

B&D Workmate 825 any good? Answered

I want a folding workbench for my birthday from my parents, I don't have enough room at uni for a proper workbench so this will have to do until I get my own house. I've read some reviews of workbenches available at the moment and a lot get rubbish reviews. The better of them are the B&D; WM825, though even that has mixed reviews. Does anyone have any advice on which to get or can recommend a different brand? I'm looking for one for less than £70.

FIFA Day 3 Group D results

The world cup continues with ever so exciting games. Here are the results for group D: Game 1 Ghana 1- Serbia 0 Gyan 85th minute Game 2 Australia 0- Germany 4                       Podolski                       8th minute                       Klose                       26th minute                       Mueller                       68th minute                      Cacau                      70th minute  personal thoughts on game 1 An amazingly close game. if it wasn't for that penalty it would've been a tie. Not much more as i didn't get to see the whole game. personal thoughts on game 2 Watching my country lose was heartbreaking. I think the coach and the team made some bad choices. First of all, The coach should have put more players in defense. Also the team should have done shorter passes. almost every time they did a long pass the ball ended up in German feet. Another thing is that they should have attacked instead of waiting ten seconds before attacking. The last thing is that they should have run faster. The German team played amazingly well considering their injured players. I have always thought of Germany as one of the best soccer teams in the world. They have once again proven that they deserve being in the top 10. If Australia doesn't pass the group stages I'll be cheering for Germany. Good luck Aussies and Germans! Please comment about the teams and games.

Prevent Clipping and Hum in class d amplifier

Hey I got this amp. Now at large volumes, there seems to be clipping. Even though the amp is 20w, my speaker is rated for 25w.  How can I prevent it from happening, rather than never playing at high vol. Can it be done by AGC or Dynamic Range Compression or Noise Gate. In my case, which is a ready made pcb, how can I include such circuitry. Is it even possible. Also, while selecting an IC, what needs to be looked at that will suggest clipping would not happen, or which parts needs to be referenced from the datasheet which ensures preventing clipping. At large volumes, if I disconnect the mp3 player from the amp but keep the jack plugged into the amp, a high hum is heard. When removed, hum is lowered but not eliminated. Similarly, when track changes. What steps needs to be taken to eliminate them. All the time before actually getting into practical electronics, I was only looking at Power output, THD+N, Class, etc of amplifier. It is only after going hands-on, for the first time, that I can experience the real things which most matter. Appreciate for helping me become a pro. Thanks.
