looking for motor mounts

I'm wanting to attach a few motors to a wood frame; however I'm not sure how to go about doing this.  The motors I'm using are in the picture; you'll notice their really isn't any holes to attach any mounting brackets of any kind.  I was thinking of using a 3/4'' pipe clamps, but was wondering if anyone here has any advice or experience with this.

Name this thingamajig

Hi I'm trying to locate or build something I don't know the name of and searching around hasn't proved helpful, perhaps somebody here could put a name to it so I at least know what I'm searching for?  It's a mount which allows something to rotate  horizontally a full 360 degrees  continuously (similar to the column rotation on a tripod) however the object to be rotated needs cables passed to it through the mount unhindering the rotation - some sort of contact connection?  Ideally I want the mount to have a powered rotation but putting a name to this would get me on the right track. Thanks in advance. Garrett

moving across the country-need some kind of camera mount.

I'm moving across the country. I'd like to make a video consisting of short clips every single stop we make, but I need a way to make sure I get the exact same camera angle every time I set up the camera. Camera angle to include some of the U-Haul, whatever is in the immediate vicinity and my wife and I, dancing of course. Any ideas?

VESA Mount for 24" Monitors ... design request

HI folks. Just wanting to see if anybody had a good way to mount some computer monitors. I'm in the market for two 24" monitors (widescreen) that I want to mount side by each vertically (not using the original mounts that come with the units, as they only go horizontal). Since VESA mounts are standard, I thought there could be a way of putting them onto something behind my desk so that they just fit that way. Any ideas?

Recommendations for mounting a 2.5" HDD in a small space

Hi, I'm currently trying to put together a small computer. I have a very limited space in which I can fit the motherboard and a few other components. Most of it kinda fits, but i'm not entirely sure how to mount the hard drive. The HDD is a 2.5" one like this one, with those dimensions: L:  100mm W: 70mm H:  8mm And once I exclude all the space taken by the other components, i have about that much space to fit it in (including the mounting parts): L: 170mm W: 40mm H: 75mm See the attached illustrations I made to get a rough overview of the space in the box. Note: I can technically extend a bit out vertically (height-wise) as the cover has a bit of gap inside but probably no more than an extra 15mm. The drive has screw holes on the sides and on the back (cf. the linked WD page) so there's a couple of options there. I'm not really sure how to go about this. I may be able to salvage some metal mounting parts from an old desktop but I would have to do some cutting to it and I don't have much room to move around for the mounting part. Another of my concerns is it'll be difficult to attach/remove the drive if I need to, because the bottom screw will be very hard to reach. Maybe there's a way to make a mounting rack where one part slides off to make the screws more accessible, I don't really know. Do you guys have any suggestions? How would you go about this?? I would much appreciate any tips, suggestions or even comments. Thanks Ben

Quick SMD question

I am just getting into SMD work for PCB's & I was curious when I am using the electric skillet method for solder reflow does the PCB have to sit on the skillet itself or can it slowly pass over & the heat that is coming up from the skillet still cause the solder to flow like it would sitting on top.

(SOLVED) Mounting Slide Potentiometers

I need help for a project I am soon to begin work on ('ible coming soon). It will involve several switches and potentiometers mounted on a piece of hardboard. The switches and rotary potentiometers I have all have washers (or whatever you call the hexagonal things with screw-like threads on the inside) to secure them in place. The slide potentiometers don't. My question is this: How would I mount the slide potentiometers? Thanks in advance, ~H4ZZ

iPod Touch Rail Mount

Hey!I got a Roland V-Drum kit last year and there's an aux input for mp3 players. I use it with my iPod touch to play along with songs. My problem is, I rest my iPod on the control module and not only does this then block half the controls, but it sometimes falls off with furious drumming. So I though to myself, I wonder if I can buy a rail mount so I can have a cradel attatched to the stand. I knew you could buy motorbike iPod cradels, but all of these weren't wide enough to accomidate the 35-40mm diameter of the stand. So I thought about making one.But I can't come up with any ideas. The stand I have is this: the drums though... I wish)The rail mounts I have been looking at are like this:;=21Any ideas guys?

I purchased a monitor and realized that it does not have the VESA standard holes in the back.  Does anyone know of any way to use it in a normal monitor stand type configuration such as;=ITD&body;=MAIN#productresources.  Could you use a product like JB weld or Gorilla glue to just glue a mount to the back or is there a standard type solution out there?

Is it possible to mount a CO2 tank on the side of a painball gun?

I am working on a paintball sniper project using a Tippmann 98 Custom as the base gun. I was wondering if it would be possible to mount a small CO2 can, maybe a 6 ounce, on the side of the gun without the bolt on it. I suppose I could just rig something up and attach it through the existing bolt holes, but I was wondering if there was a manufactured product that does this that I could work from. At the moment I have my tank mounted under the front barrel by way of a home-made rack. This works, but messes with the balance of the gun. any tips or links appreciated.

Would it be possible to create a DIY wall mount for a Dell SE178WFP monitor?

Hey all; I'm a bit frugal and I was thinking about creating a mount for my widescreen, 17 in. Dell SE178WFP monitor. As it turns out, the base detaches quite nicely from the screen; however, I'm not willing to pay extra money just for an additional mount. Preferably, I'd like not to drill holes in the wall in back of it, as it is merely thin drywall. At one point, I thought Velcro could work but that's a bit ridiculous for a -stationary- computer screen =cD. Additionally, there's a small metal plate that is attached to the original base that snaps into the monitor itself, if that's of any use. Thanks in advance, Zak

Help! Questions about virbration absorbtion for SLR bicycle mount

Hey Guys!Firstly I just stumbled upon this site while searching for answers to my build and on 1st glance it looks great! Loads of cool stuff to try..Anyway, I'm looking at building myself a camera mount for my Canon 350D to go on the front of my bike. My main issue/worry is vibration running through the bike and the mount to the camera and damaging it. I've seen loads of instructions on how to make bike mounts on here, but am still worried about the damage that could be done to my camera (my pride and joy!) if I undertake my project without dampening any vibrations from the road.I'm going to be doing timelapse/stills photos from the front of my bike around London (not the smoothest of roads!) so want to be sure I won't be damaging my camera doing it. The front of my bike has decent suspension so should take the hit of the bigger bumps but it's the smaller, higher frequency vibrations that worry me.I've searched as well as I can at 2am but can't find any of the instructions covering the topic of vibration, so I was wondering if there are any mounts or heads out there that are designed for this purpose or if anyone has built something similar with success (or lack of camera damage anyway!)As I'm doing stills work I don't mind about it being slightly 'wobbly' it's more the vibrations that worry me.I've found websites selling anti vibration materials ( so I wonder if that could be incorporated into a more general design. Thanks in advance for any tips or links! And sorry if this has already been covered but I've not found it!Ian.

Need a DSLR Car mount

browsing for parts, thinking about resting it on the window itself. just looking to see if anyone has any type of ideas? This is pretty much my plan at the moment but I have to find parts for it. But with this plan I for see 2 issues 1. The arm would most likely swing from side to side when speeding up or slowing down 2. If you wanted to record the driver, the window has to be down for this plan so wind would seriously be an issue. You could solve the first issue by using 2 arms, but windows are curved so.. im not so sure about that.

LED wiring and soldering help needed

Hey everyone! New to the forum here but not to instructables. For quite a while i've been looking into making an iron man arc reactor. I've learned how to wire and solder regular LED's but i am at a loss for how to wire and solder surface mount LED's. I've tried searching and googling for some answers but i haven't really come up with much. Can anyone help me out? Oh and a bonus question for not only surface mount, but also regular LED's. I know how to hook up one LED to a battery pack...but what about hooking up multiple ones? Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

UV Surface Mount LEDs

I am currently modifying an iBook G3 so that, among other things, it will be fluorescent orange. Currently, when the computer sleeps, a white LED illuminates through the casing. Since the casing will now be fluorescent, I would like to replace the white surface mount LED with an ultraviolet one, so that the case will glow as the computer is sleeping. I was wondering if someone could help me out by telling me where I might be able to purchase an ultraviolet surface mount LED? P.S. The image included will be stenciled and mirrored on each side of the apple on the top of the iBook.

Ceiling mount for a Canon Digital Rebel XT?

Glueing acrylic to wood?

Evening all, I have recently been contemplating throwing together something of a monitor mount. I am currently contemplating whether it would be possible to finish a wood box by attaching a plasticy black surface(plastic, acrylic or what have you) to it. At this stage I am motivated by wanting a black plastic finish that will go with my monitors while at the same time attaching a vesa mount to wood seems like it would be more sturdy than an entirely acrylic box. So long story short, would a sheet of acrylic glue nicely onto a sheet of wood with some sort of epoxy?

Not needing root access to mount drives?

I have been using sshfs (mounting SFTP servers) with MacFUSE on my Mac Mini (Snow Leopard). When I mount an SSH server, I can do it without having to be root, and i'm fine. My friend, on the other hand, tries to mount my SSH server, and it says access denied. He then runs the mount as root and it works fine. The issue with running as root though, makes it not accessible by Finder. He's an administrator on his computer (which is Snow Leopard on a MacBook (White)). How can he mount it as himself (his account)?

How do I embed a 7" usb monitor in acrylic?

I'm looking to perform a case mod wherein I install a 7" USB monitor into a clear acrylic case. I plan to paint the inside of the case as well, but that's a different matter. The case in question has a decently sized area (allowing for at least 7" in width) directly below the main audio and USB ports in the front. (The left side of the front; the right side has three vertically-stacked 3.5" bays.) I am wondering what is the best way to go about cutting the hole in the acrylic and mounting the monitor to the front. I would prefer that only the front half of the bezel show above the case. I would be painting the bezel and the rim of the cut in the enamel prior to mounting, if that makes any difference at all. Let me know if I'm not making any sense. Thanks!
