Net-Bed / hammock style / Mattress alternative?

Hi Everyone, I saw this bed on a blog and it keeps coming back to me. Unfortunately I don't know anything about it, who made it, and how. I did some research (didn't find the source) but learned that many people consider sleeping on a hammock very comfortable. So maybe this could be used as a real bed? This is a burning question because I'll might have to buy a new mattress at the and of the month but I feel like DIY :) So, any ideas on how to build such a thing, or on how usable it is? Or maybe you are the guy in the picture? ;) Thanks, elbotho

My internet is down a lot recently, so don't expect immediate replys.

Imagen, my local web provider, has been down a lot recently, and I am losing my internet connection. I am not going to be able to post anything big for a while, so hold tight (because of not being able to upload...) I hope it gets fixed, and am only able to do brief things such as this. Thanks, and I hope it's fixed. BB

Partial solution to trash in water? Maybe.

Hey everyone, I had a couple of ideas for getting trash out of our storm drains/oceans/streams/rivers, the first one, this one has a couple of flaws: This is a very basic idea to skimming trash off the surface of water, a net. Preferably one with small holes to limit the amount of trash flowing out of it with the water. BUT, fatal flaw: It can also catch wildlife in it, and I'm still trying to figure out how to work around this. Any suggestions? Second, a filter of sorts for storm drains/streams: Imagine a metal mesh wedge, kind of like a snowplow wedge, that would go in front of drains and such (I'm thinking more for the type of streams and drains that have those big tunnels going under roads and sidewalks and emerge on the other side). The wedge could allow water to flow through, but direct trash off to the sides to collection tanks. I'll try to illustrate it below.                       - - - - - - - - <0 (the lines would be the stream, then the wedge, then the drain/tunnel opening. I couldn't do the tanks...) I'm eager for any suggestions/tips, improvements, and thoughts on these!

Anybody have any ideas about inexpensive fabrics that might stop arrows? i have seen arrow back stop netting online but it is prohibitively expensive. i am a back yard archer living in a city and i think my neighbors would feel safer in their yards if they thought my net might stop an arrow.

Net Gun

Hey instructables, I haven't been on in a while but I am back and looking for someone to give me some advice. In my class, we are playing a castle crashers type game where we have to design a device that will remove all of the foam blocks from the area provided. I came up with an idea that utilizes air pressure to propel the net forward with a decent amount of force. However, I am running into an issue in finding a feasible way to store the pressure provided from me pumping a bike pump, and releasing it to propel the net. I was interested in using a rubber bladder to contain the air pumped into it, and releasing the air on command (start button). I can't use an actual compressor unit as it must be human or battery powered, and it must fit in a 2'x2' space and can't reach more than 5' tall. Any ideas as to where or how I might create a bladder would be greatly appreciated!

new editor doesn't work with net books with "letter box" shaped screens

Since the add pictures pane floats over the page I can't scroll down far enough to reach the submit button. I will no longer be able to submit instructables until you provide a link to the old editor (the one that looks like this), make the floating pane where you drag and drop pictures fixed so I can get to the bottom of it, move the submit button to the top of the floating pane, or make the area in the editor where the pictures a shown able to just have pictures dropped into it without opening up the floating pane.  until then I will no longer be able to add pictures which is useless to both of us. I am using a net book with a 10.1 inch screen, this will be a problem for every small screen that cannot be reoriented the way a tablet can.

Netting circle - The crafting and DIY crazes are catching on with websites such as Etsy and Instructables

Instructables and Etsy appear in the OttawaSun article Netting Circle. If you're into creating, but you're not into domestic arts, try Instructables.com. This subversive site bills itself as "the world's biggest show and tell." Anyone can contribute how-tos and get feedback. The postings are slightly unusual, sometimes even extreme, such as how to build a cheap still to make moonshine, turn a shotgun shell into a USB stick case or make shoelaces from tape. The projects for extreme DIYers are uploaded by users who offer step-by-step guidelines along with photos. "It's a reaction against a mass-produced culture," says founder Eric Wilhelm in the Telegraph.Sounds quite similar to the 18th and 19th century backlash against the advent of mass production which created the arts and crafts movement in the first place.Wilhelm started an earlier version of the site several years ago while a starving student seeking advice on how to make equipment to cheaply support his kite-surfing hobby. More news and press about Instructables here.

Javascript bugs in FF and IE

I'm experiencing multiple bugs in Instructables, most JavaScript related. FF 11.0, have these same problems with FF10.2?. Instructables on safe list @ NoScript 1. Images look ok in instructables, switching between them in steps do not work at all. I click on the second image. It should replace the first one in the same container, nothing happens. 2. Can not vote. The stars are simply not there anymore. 3. There are 4 fingers white gap above, and 3 fingers white gap below the instructable title / photo-step row FF Javascript error console shows no errors. Things like Favoring/Unfavoring, commenting works fine. IE 8.0.6 1. Same problem as previous #1, yet clicking on the second image opens the image thumbnail directly in a new window. 2. IE displays "Errors on page" with this text: "Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Timestamp: Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:18:56 UTC Message: 'f[...]' is null or not an object Line: 25 Char: 358 Code: 0 URI: https://www.instructables.com/static/js/gw-11.6.4/lib/gw.min.js I bet some script near the bottom of scripts is killing the rest of scripts, this is why some scripts work and some don't.
