It's not pretty when a designer mangles an image in Photoshop. Most of the image may look a little cleaner, but it's those little mistakes that distort reality that make you wonder if anyone else looked at it.This new blog, Photoshop Disasters chronicles a few of these mistakes from the overly eager airbrush to the accidental deleting of heads. Hey, world! I have a challenge for you. Your mission... should you choose to accept it... Is to photoshop that picture of the eye down there better than anyone else! Yop. AND IF YOU WIN! You won't get anything. Sorry. This is just for fun! :D The deadline is TBD (to be determined), so go and manipulate!! Post your entries in the comments. **EDIT: Because an anonymous person *cough* ^kiteman^ ,your photoshop must resemble an eye. ***EDIT No. 2: The deadline in January 31!

I found these, I am seriously thinking about spending money on a set, but, they could easily be made using 'printable sheets'.Easy for one to do with a few screen shots!I think this set up with the magnetic board would make a pretty sweet item to have on ones wall, especially if your a designer type like me.Photoshop Magnets Shopvia Gizmodo

I have a 360, as decided by you all in my other forum topic :), and now I have madden 09. Frankly, I hate Brett Favre, i don't care to get into it. Anyway as you know Favre is on the cover, wrong team though... and I want to change that. I am a Giants fan .:) So I am asking please can anyone good at photo shop put these two together for me. I'm not so good with the photo shop (well, gimp). Or at least try to.... please :) and an interweb cookie for whosever makes me happiest :D

Hey, I recently drew a portrait of Lady Gaga, and I have then added some colour to it using photoshop. I would love if you guys could give me any critques or positives about it, so that I can improve it! And then I can start working on other drawings I have done too. Thanks :)

As Lira would say, I haz skillz. I do not, though, have any serious photo-editing skillz. So, it should be easy to impress me and earn a patch in my new contest; apply your skillz in Photoshop, Gimp or even Paint to join a Mini with anything else. Caitlinsdad's hybrid of my Mini and Thunderbird 2 (below) was the inspiration for this contest, so he has already won a patch. You can join the Mini with anything you like - animal, mineral, vegetable, even celebrity. You must use a Classic Mini (any model), not the BMW version. To win a patch, your image must impress, both with creativity and the level of skill exhibited. The judge's decision is final and potentially rather arbitrary. Ready... steady... shop! EDIT: This contest ends June 30th, midnight GMT

Hello, everybody. I've gotta keep this message brief for now, but suffice it to say: I am very much alive and well. I have sort of dropped K'nex as a hobby but this will not be one of those 'I'm done with K'nexing forever' posts, because nobody ever really is. If you'd like me to help and collaborate, I am totally open to busting out the K'nex again. I'll probably message some of you guys to say hello again pretty shortly, but right now, I've got a few things to do before I can do so. Sorry about that long bout of inactivity... I'm currently working on digital art (animation, stills, and everything abstract) and you can find my most recent work at the following sites (If anyone's interested): darkowlartifice.tumblr.com (the final products) and ondrewstuffpreview.tumblr.com (works in progress; the password is 'egg.') Hope all of you guys are doing well! (Also, to Mods questioning why this is in K'nex: this is an address to old friends who primarily exist in the K'nex community.)

Hello all, Ive begun to crack into digital art in photoshop. This is mainly refering to painting and not manipulating photos. Im not having much trouble with lighting or coloring. My main issue is with Texture and detail. I can make shapes and lighting and coloring but that all means nothing if it doesnt have any texture. So any and all advice within these regards would be awesome. and i will be starting on grass and nature and im trying to make high quality photos so if you have any advice on ground texturizing (like grass or trees) you can also help me out there. -Thank you for taking time to read this, Liam

When I first saw it, this sinkhole image looked photoshopped to me (original story here). It turned out to be legitimate, but air.command suggested adding a Silver Surfer to the image. I did (see below), and quite liked it. So, I have decided to open up another photo-editing contest. You can either... Add something to an image of a real sinkhole (or other hole in the ground) - what caused it? What's climbing out or falling in? Put a sinkhole somewhere interesting Do both - add a sinkhole to a scene, then put something else in the hole. Use any source images you like, but images that involve classic projects will be more likely to win the Silver Surfer patch I have just created. I will also put all entries together to make a slideshow as well. EDIT: This contest ends June 30th, midnight GMT

Could someone tell me how to photograph negatives, and then process them into positive images? This is the best I can do, and when I invert the colors, it does not look right. (Ctrl-Alt-Cmd-8 on a mac) Any help would be appreciated, preferably with camera settings rather than computer adjustments. Second image is original print, I would prefer not to have to get expensive prints.

I dont have photoshop and im kind of freaked to download off the internet for fear of slowing my computer even more than it already is (im running windows 98). all i have of a graphic application is the corel programs. anyways, i was just wondering if i could use the same methods of converting a picture into a stencil as on photoshop or GIMP. any experience on this would help.

Edit: I have moved this from photography to Tech because you have to have a computer, which is tech, and Photoshop or Gimp (not tech, but software). If you think I've put this in the wrong catagory, please suggest the correct one in the comments. I would put this under a software tab if there were any. Would any one be interested if I made photoshop tutorials based on ideas given in the comments? Ex: Make a retro background for (insert college of choice). Ex: Make a B&W; poster for an upcoming event, grungy I would then (possibly, depending on feedback) make a tutorial of how I made your suggestion as well as post a high resolution finished product. I'm self taught in the art of photoshop so I am by no means a professional. I've added a few of my recent works just to give you an idea (I got the second idea from a tutorial...) Also, if you feel you have or know of a good photoshop/gimp instructable, feel free to suggest it and I may add a link to it in the main thread. CURRENT INSTRUCTABLE TUTORIALS -Photoshop 101: What You Need to Know! (goes over the basics of Photoshop, includes the use and description of many tools) -Photoshop Basics: A Building Banner (goes over the basics of photo manipulation and techniques, includes detailed instructions on how to use more complicated tools)

'Judging has now been completed. And the winners of the shiny Photoshop patch are (drum roll please!)... n8man and Chicken2209! Congratulations and great job! I'll get around to giving you each a patch as soon as possible.'It seems like user-run contests are all the rage these days so I thought I'd try one of my own out. I like to edit photos, so I thought I would start a contest about editing pictures. Here are the rules.1. Find a picture you could edit.2. Edit it! (You don't need to use Photoshop. There are some great free alternatives, like GIMP)3. Come here and post the original photo along with your edited version.4. The best two entries get a shiny Photoshop patch.5. There is no limit on number of entries.6. The judges are myself, Lithium Rain, and domindude10So go ahead, start editing!

Hi gang! We're running this super fun challenge over at Betabrand, and I knew you guys would be into it. So I'm calling on all of your zany photoshop skillz to blow this thing up! And I mean, seriously, get wacky with this. Recently we did a Think Tank poll (that's the section I run, so I hope you all dig it) to see what color we should make the next disco hoodie. Canida in particular was a strong supporter of purple, as her twitter campaign for purple disco indicated, and indeed, purple won this round! So to celebrate, we're asking people to play around with some photos of the new purple disco hoodie. Photoshop any of these images of hoodies to participate, and email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Purple Disco Hoodies Gold Disco Hoodies Check out a few of these sites if you need inspiration: Kotaku (gets better as you scroll down, also provides links to other examples) Fark (so many. . . just. Just look.) Oh, and hey, did I mention that everyone who plays gets a 20% discount to Betabrand? And there were only 50 Purple Disco Hoodies created? So, you know, if you're into it, get going. Let's show these Betabrand folks how it's done!

I have Photodraw 2000 on my computer from several years ago - I copied it onto my newer computer and I use it all the time to add text, borders or effects and to correct old photos or erase backgrounds. I use my photos for various purposes, for teaching and family use, so it's good to be able to do lots of things with the photos in just one simple program I love Photodraw- it has so many uses and is easy to use. I never got the hang of using layers as in paint.net (which I've tried ) and Photoshop (which seems so expensive and complex). Does anyone else still use Photodraw or am I hanging on to a dinosaur here?

Psst: we're doing something fun with the Homepage header this week! Adobe gave us a sneak peek at their Creative Suite 5 package, so we've used some of the new tools in CS5 to create five new themed headers and make some snazzy mods to some of our house ads. It's a great way to have fun with our header, and celebrate the release of our new categories! As a bonus for all you Photoshop artists out there, fungus amungus will be posting an Instructable documenting how he made the header images. How did he get the laser-cut logo to float? There are some neat new tricks that made the process super-easy. Check out How to Make an Instructables Header for full instructions! Check back on the homepage every day this week to see what's new, and let us know what you think! Note: the rest of the site is normal; any changes are the result of our new categories and updated header. The homepage header will revert to its normal orange on Saturday.

Basically The big reason that I'm asking whether I should post or not is because it would be quite a long instructable and take alot of effort on my part, so I would want to know that it's going to be worth something for people, since it's a long thing to do and I'm fairly up to my eyes in crazy projects... Please refrain from posting kitemans law as a retort, I follow it most of the time except in cases such as this, I know there's alot of interest in this stuff on the web and didn't know if many on instructables would go for it. The 'ible would include: - Pen tool Use - lowering car etc. - Cloning - making new parts - Colour shifting - use of masking and hue/sat tool - Burning and dodging - creating new light condtions - Adding new backdrops and the like - Use of layers in a more advanced way - Lots of other little tricks.

I've been having a bit of a dilemma with raster graphics editors such as Photoshop and GIMP. In either of the two programs, when I draw a solid line, it automatically fades the edges. This normally wouldn't bug me, except I need to fill in these areas. Whenever I do so, the area I fill in doesn't do so entirely because of these faded edges. Does anybody know how to make either Photoshop or GIMP stop doing this and fill in the entire area?

I made this just yesterday because I could not find any tuorial that tells you how to make a decent explosion. So after a little experimenting, I got this. Would anyone like to see an instructable for this in GIMP and Photoshop? I updated the picture from one that did not have a backround to this

Hi Lately while working in PS I noticed that I needed a way to freehand with a pen but couldn't afford a professional one.I was wondering if there was a way to make one on the cheap. This is what I'm talking about.https://www.instructables.com/id/Digital-Picture-Frame/?ALLSTEPS

The message (to housewives) is "Which girl is your little girl?" Followed by the answer, which is the brand. There's a lot to see in there that divides the two characters into a back and white opposition. It's skewed two people to present the one who's mother does use (that) detergent as better. For the sake of balance, I decided to have fun by introducing some colour - white is a bit boring no matter how bright it is. L

The Instructables robot, the beloved mascot of Instructables.com has become a symbol of DIY for some, who wish to express their love of making and their appreciation of instructables through it.These are the many faces of the instructables robot, created by instructable members themselves.

Um, hi.Im looking for pictures related to instructables.Mainly the staff, logos, Robot (although I have enough RObot pictures) and Eric in particular.Im working on a small project. Its not an instructable, more of some photo editing. Its basically what I did on this pic. Except of course, Ill make it better. The whole point is to put as many Instructables stuff in my room as I can. This was a bit of practice to see what woud work. Please dont steal my idea yet.Does anyone have any tips on how to make the pictures not stand out so much, or how to blend it with the background. I want to try all the methods.Name all the cameos you see here:
