So yes, my dad has said he will choose the PS3 as the free gift. So as you see im Estatic! I thought I might aswell get some info about the console, from gamers like yourself on instrutables. Just answer the questions: What is the best game to get on a PS3? Any regrets on buying it? ( e.g would of chose a different console, not worth it) Is it backwards compatible with other PS2 games ( if not is there a way to make it?) ? ( Im getting the 40gig - the only model available ) Which console do you think is going to win the next gen war? ( xbox has put up a good battle but the PS3 is picking up speed fast!) List of ps3 Must haves!!!? please. - Baron

A prisoner in the UK wanted to ink some skin so badly he made a tattoo machine from a Sony PlayStation. He did it by attaching a motor from the PlayStation to a sharpened ballpoint pen. It must've worked because he gave tattoos to others before he was caught it was taken away. Sony PainStation via Inhabitat

Hi! Has anybody tried interfacing the Beaglebone with a video game controller like PS or XBox etc? Any help with connections and coding would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys/girls I got a Playstation controller (CECH-ZRC1E) its for PS3, AMP and TV but i want to sync my TV, but the problem is... I got a unknown TV (Terris LCD 2213, Medion, BEKE, TEVION) so i can't find the code for it plus The PS3 remote is IF (infrared) and the original is RF (Radio Frequency) So my question is, is it possible to sync it on one way? The chance of finding the codes isnt a problem but if i can use a IF remote on RF remove (That's what i'm thinking that its Infrared and Radio Frequency, when i block the top side of the original it wont work, and the PS3 will respond (tried it on the PS3 and it still react)

Hello, I have an interesting proposal for you all. I am interested in putting all of the hardware from a PS2 into a PS1 case. I want this for a friend of mine who cannot have a PS2 where he is. Is there anyone who has done this, or has any ideas that would help me? I have been told by one person that the hardware will never fit, but I've seen the crazy things people on here can do, so I thought I ask you all. Thank you

Hi again iables, I want to build a oil submersable ps3 and have a few questions, 1. Will the oil degrade the silicone on a glass fish tank and cause a leak? 2. How do i extend the power and eject buttons off the motherboard? 3. How do i extend all other wires for the hard drive, power supply, bluray drive, hard disk drive and any i have missed? 4. What would be the best way to stop wicking in the wires from slowly emptying the oil? 5. Would any normal pc case cooling fans be ok to circulate the oil or would they burn out from the extra current draw? 6. Would a normal overhead fish tank filter be ok to use as a diy radiator pump? 7. Would this prevent the dreaded YLOD as iv already had it twice and fixed it myself, with relative success (about 2 months or 100ish hours), and this time im going to oven bake instead of heat gun as this method is rumoured to provide the best results, anyway i hope because of the even cooling provided by the oil bath, then it would keep it much cooler than air cooling? 8. What about using themoelectric cooling pads with huge heatsinks to provide extra cooling? 9. Would the wireless and bluetooth antenna's need to be extended or would they be ok submersed? i thought radio signals were blocked by water so is oil the same? If they do, how would i go about this? 10. Where would i buy mineral oil? I heard that Johnsons baby oil would work? 11. Could i use something similar to an undergravel filter in a fish tank to generate circulation if a pump head wont work? 12. What metal piping should i use for a diy radiator as i heard that mineral oil is very good at dissolving some things and im worried that the contamination may cause conductivity? I think that's it... if not ill add more when i think of them, many thanks in advance for any help!?

I lost a good portion of my left hands fingers in a workshop accident 3 months ago. I just recently picked up my controller and tried to play. I have one inch left on my index finger and 1 1/2" left on my middle finger...those L1/L2 shoulder buttons are a PITA to reach. Can I somehow mod my controller to move the buttons counterclockwise so they are more on the left side of the controller near the D-Pad? For the PS3 I can probably buy a USB mod stick and use the XBox One controller but the PS4 has the touch area smack dab in the middle of the controller. I have a bunch of spare parts/controllers for the PS3 / PS4 that I bought...in case I needed to mod my buttons. Any ideas?

Hey there! First time poster, occasional lurker here. I've recent took apart my old dead PSP 2000 for spare parts, and while I have use for the memory slot and the audio jack, I have none for the LCD screen itself. It's in good condition, and I wonder if there's any use for it. Got any suggestions?

Hi, I was recently given a wireless microphone for a ps2 game called dance UK. The person I got it from didn't want it and I thought it might be useful(I'm a junk collector ;D) it plugs into the controller port and the scart adapter, it seems to draw 12v from the ps2 for the transmitter, has an input cable for the microphone and an output cable to the scart adapter. On the scart adapter there is also a jack for an external speaker. Finally after some thinking about what it needs the controller port for; I decided it might be for volume control (it also says volume control on the bottom :P) Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could use this for? (I don't mind rigging it as long as it's not TOO much)

I would like to build my own Guitar Hero guitar using buttons similar to those in the pic but have a clear button for the frets and mount leds under the frets that are lit up as long as the system is on and the controller is plugged in. If it's not possible to do using button switches then I request one for making fret buttons that have leds. Thanks

SOOOOO i've got way to many gaming consoles.. i collect them i love them all DEARLY but i hate the fact i've got 20million sets of AV cables for each one. SO i went to gamestop and bought a multi console av cable.. covers my xbox (original), xbox 360, playstation 2, and gamecube/nintendo. so i plugged all my consoles in and fired on up.. and to my surprise i had no audio.. so i checked the av's on the tv side and moved htem and after much arguing with it all unplugged all but my xbox.. magically SOUND. so while the xbox was playing a movie i plugged in another console and bam sound was gone.. so my THEORY is this 1) Single Console it Works fine but i still have to switch the cables around every time i want to use another console 2) more than one console plugged in the audio from L & R is being diverted from the tv to the new console plugged in. but i am unsure how to test this.. and even more unsure if my theory is correct how to fix it. i bought the cable for next to nothing and am not above hacking it apart to get the results i want.

I am working on a performative art project and need to figure out a way to take a Playstation 2 controller and hook it up to lights so when I press the O or X button a corresponding light will turn on. The lights will prompt the performers to carry out certain actions. If you are interested in helping you will be compensated (through paypal or something. We can discuss that later). Let me know if you have any thoughts about such a project. Thank you.

So i finally purchased a Model B Raspberry Pi. I'm quite enthralled by the stuff ill be able to do with it, but i figured i would start by making it a case. That idea somehow resulted in using a cigar box i had lying around to turn the whole thing into a laptop-esque build thing. The inside dimensions being 8.5" x 5.4" x 1.5", i looked around and i have a PlayStation 1 with an LCD screen. The console and screen are fine but the hinge is broken. And given the size of the screen, i thought it would be really nifty to disconnect the screen and use it as a monitor. The only problem is im not sure if i could make it HDMI or RCA compatible. Any Tech people think this could be done?

I found Yabasic as an extra for a PS2 demodisc, and i recently dug it out from my Ps2 pile. it is a fun and simple piece of software for creating small programs, in which you type a command (eg. print, input, goto, beep etc.) and then a piece of text. here is a code for a simple number guess program, sorry for mistakesREM Number guess gameprint "I am thinking of a number between 1 and 50, try to guess it!"input a$if (a$>13) thenprint "your number was larger than mine!"goto inputendifelseif (a$<13) thenprint "your number was smaller than mine!"goto inputendifelseif (a$=13) thenprint "My number was 13! Congratulations, you win!"Feel free to edit the prints, and the number doesn't have to be 13. there are other things involving string variables and other commands. heres one called identitiy finderREM Identity finder programPrint "What is your name?" :":input a$Print "How old are you, ",a$,"?" :":Input b$Print "And where do you live, ",a$,"?" :":Input c$Print "so your name is ",a$,", you are ",b$," years old and you live in ",c$,", correct?"Pause 5Feel free to add more string variables, just add them as d$, e$, f$ etc.anyway, post coding for more yabasic programs, and use the stuff above!

Last Friday I was looking through some of my old stuff when I found my old PS1. I was wanting to try doing a case mod on an old NES but i thought this could be a bit more fun. Anyway after brainstorming some ideas for designs I settled on a steampunk-like style. So far this is about all I have done. But to explain what I'm going to do to it just mouse over the pics--\/ Let me know whatcha think.

Are you going to buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3 or even both? If so, on PC, XboX360 or PS3? I already have the Battlefield 3 Beta for PlayStation 3 and I think it's awesome. I pre-ordered MW3 for Playstation 3 for only 16 euros. Guess how that's possible. Greetings, H.

Hello all! I recently aquired a broken PSP 1000 as sort of a challenge to myself. Now however, I actually want it to work. I need some help with the fix, so here are the problems I have been able to identify: -PSP won't always charge, I strongly believe it is the battery though. When I tilt the PSP around at different angles, it will charge. Also, fiddling with the battery makes it charge. -PSP won't tun on. I have checked the power fuse, and it was burned out. I placed a jumper across it like so many internet guides say, and it now has continuity. When I hold the power switch, the PSP will do one of two things: 1. The light will turn off, and then turn back to solid orange (charging) 2. The light will turn green for about 0.5 to 1 second, and then turn off -PSP will make a rythmic clicking when not charging, doesn't seem to be a problem though. -Battery is cracked, and I don't know if it works properly because it won't maintain proper contact with the PSP. I have also checked the backlight and USB fuses, they both have continuity so I'm not worried about fixing them. Right now I would just like it to turn on. If anyone knows anything, please make a comment, perhaps someone else has this problem. P.S. What is a pandora battery? I keep hearing about those, what do they do? Also, what exactly signifies a "bricked" PSP? Thanks UPDATE: 11/08/2009 I had a friend test the battery, he said the battery works and he charged it for me. Now the PSP turns on. But, (there's always a but) there is no activity on the LCD. I tried bridging the backlight fuse with tweezers to see if the fuse was the problem, no luck. So what now? All I have learned is that the charge circuit doesn't work and that the PSP turns on with no activity. I held a white LED flashlight up to the screen, but I didn't see anything. any suggestions?

I am selling my PSP gaming system, and my iPod Nano 4th generation. Neither have many scratches (In fact, no deep scratches.), but the nano has a chip of paint missing on the side, which I would estimate to be around 1.5mm across. Very unnoticeable. I would LOVE to trade them both for an iTouch, but I would be willing to sell them. If you have any interest whatsoever, feel free to PM me for pictures/further information! Thank you!

Hello all... Been working on this for a while now. I purchased a generic playstation 2 (ps2) gaming pad, hand or controller (your preference). I completely removed BOTH the joysticks from the unit as the native state of how they were, would not work for the project. I DO NOT want wireless, and that first off is all I am finding online. My question is this: WHERE do I connect the SEL (My understanding is this is where the pushbutton operation of the joystick would be wired) Do I connect the SEL of the breakout board to the actual Arduino, or do I connect it to the breadboard. To both, just give me a location as in 3 thru 13, A0 through A5, Now then, I have power, ground, left (left3), right (right3) figured out. Am I totally off my mark, I have attached my fritzing diagram as a jpg with notes to assist. For reference purposes please see these links for further info: Breakout board: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9110 Joysticks: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9032 Thanks in advance Tony

"User1877" I just can't figure it out... I need tech-assistance on why my PS2 game won't run anymore. Details: 1). It's not scratched, but when I put it in the game system...; 2). The "PlayStation 2" Bios Screen comes up -- then nothing after that... just a black screen. 3). Also: I hear the CD game spinning - at which I've tried "fast disc speed" and letting it play at Normal Disc Speed, too; only to find out it's going to do the same thing every time. The name of the game is "Shadow The Hedgehog". That game was originally out on the Nintendo GameCube in the mini-disc format; but, then in 2005 - it came out in the PS2 3" format.* So - (Question: What do I do)? Providing the details, what can be done - (do I have to buy another copy of the game, or can it be restored, somehow?) Someone - please, tell me.

Hey guys! I have a Motorola Droid and I love all the games people are developing, but the controls are TERRIBLE! so I was thinking "I wonder if I could mod a controller with joysticks (Playstation or something) to work with my Droid?!?" Im aware that it would also require some kind of software but I just cant shake the idea that it would be AWSOME. Anyone seen anything like this or have any pointers for where I could get started?

'Sup. So I have a cheap crappy computer, (even i realize it) and on most games it should work smooth; but it lags. VERY often. But it lags on every game similarly: It would work smooth for about 10 seconds, and then it would be like playing a playstation game on a windows 98. Over and over again. It lags on most the games i have: Battlefield 3, just cause 2, saints row 3, mafia 2, even on gta san andreas. This is very annoying and my parents are alittle stingy on money. H3LP M3 PL34ZE??

Guys, I'm dyin here, this should be such an abvious creation! I need to create a simple mechanism to repeatedly push a button on a Playstation 3 controller. Doesnt have to be quick at all, even every few minutes would work, be it has to be able to repeadedly press a button for a few hours at a time. I figured I would go Homer style and grab myself a trendy little dipping or drinking bird, but figured it would be reliable enough to keep up for a few hours. Seems terribly trivial, but that's whats driving me so crazy to figure out a solution?! Any crafty McGuyver's out there want to take a stab at it?

I'm planning on making an Xbox controller with a dualshock 3 controller inside. I'll be making one for me, but I'm looking to earn some money so I'm curious if anybody would be interested in buying a second one for themselves. Keep in mind this won't be cheap, it will cost up to $100 in parts alone. While I don't have a lot of experience, I have a lot of skill (see my tvbgone sonic screwdriver for an example). Lastly, keep in mind this is not a sale yet, just gauging interest so I know whether or to make a second one. Leave comments here on requests for aesthetic features, and PM me if you have a price you'd be willing to pay. Please only reply if you're serious. Expect to see a sale post sometime in July, I'll be going by best offer.

Ender's Game is being adapted into a video game. It won't be the whole book so no hacking mini-games where you try and post comments as another student. No, this will be focusing on the Battle Room. Even more intriguing, to me at least, is that this will be distributed via Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network and not on a disc. Very interesting. So how excited am I about this? Excited enough to say that it will likely be absolutely horrible and worthless. That's right, I'm burying my expectations right next to all those copies of E.T. for the 2600. Otherwise I risk extreme disappointment which leads to rage which leads to fighting words in Internet forums which just leads to a sorry state of being altogether. full story
