So yes, my dad has said he will choose the PS3 as the free gift. So as you see im Estatic! I thought I might aswell get some info about the console, from gamers like yourself on instrutables. Just answer the questions: What is the best game to get on a PS3? Any regrets on buying it? ( e.g would of chose a different console, not worth it) Is it backwards compatible with other PS2 games ( if not is there a way to make it?) ? ( Im getting the 40gig - the only model available ) Which console do you think is going to win the next gen war? ( xbox has put up a good battle but the PS3 is picking up speed fast!) List of ps3 Must haves!!!? please. - Baron

Last Friday I was looking through some of my old stuff when I found my old PS1. I was wanting to try doing a case mod on an old NES but i thought this could be a bit more fun. Anyway after brainstorming some ideas for designs I settled on a steampunk-like style. So far this is about all I have done. But to explain what I'm going to do to it just mouse over the pics--\/ Let me know whatcha think.

I have a couple of different questions regarding an old PS 2 I have laying around. Any idea why the drawer to the disc drive will not open? The reset LED remains red, the other will not come on. Anyone out there know how to power a PS 2 by way of an ATX or other PC power supply? I know the four pins that carry power to the other boards are rated as 12v. But I'm not sure which ones, and if they are 12+ or 12-. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt

I would like to try a small project of taking the playstation/PSone memory card and adding an LED to it so it lights up when it's plugged in to the Playstation. Even better would be to have it flash when it is being saved to. Any help with either a diagram of the memory card or where to solder would be nice.

Well, last Saturday I bought a Playstation controller from a yard sale. It was an original PS controller, you know, the ones without analog sticks or rumble motors. Anyways, I plugged 'er in, and it played fine. I was able to play for hours with no problems. I woke up the next day, plugged it in, and nothing. The controller just stopped working. I've tried several times since then, and it still is not working. I cleaned it all out on the inside, I made sure the buttons and button contacts were clean, I cleaned the part that connects to the Playstation, but it still won't work. I tested out a couple of working controllers in the same controller port, and they both work fine.

Hi again iables, I want to build a oil submersable ps3 and have a few questions, 1. Will the oil degrade the silicone on a glass fish tank and cause a leak? 2. How do i extend the power and eject buttons off the motherboard? 3. How do i extend all other wires for the hard drive, power supply, bluray drive, hard disk drive and any i have missed? 4. What would be the best way to stop wicking in the wires from slowly emptying the oil? 5. Would any normal pc case cooling fans be ok to circulate the oil or would they burn out from the extra current draw? 6. Would a normal overhead fish tank filter be ok to use as a diy radiator pump? 7. Would this prevent the dreaded YLOD as iv already had it twice and fixed it myself, with relative success (about 2 months or 100ish hours), and this time im going to oven bake instead of heat gun as this method is rumoured to provide the best results, anyway i hope because of the even cooling provided by the oil bath, then it would keep it much cooler than air cooling? 8. What about using themoelectric cooling pads with huge heatsinks to provide extra cooling? 9. Would the wireless and bluetooth antenna's need to be extended or would they be ok submersed? i thought radio signals were blocked by water so is oil the same? If they do, how would i go about this? 10. Where would i buy mineral oil? I heard that Johnsons baby oil would work? 11. Could i use something similar to an undergravel filter in a fish tank to generate circulation if a pump head wont work? 12. What metal piping should i use for a diy radiator as i heard that mineral oil is very good at dissolving some things and im worried that the contamination may cause conductivity? I think that's it... if not ill add more when i think of them, many thanks in advance for any help!?

A prisoner in the UK wanted to ink some skin so badly he made a tattoo machine from a Sony PlayStation. He did it by attaching a motor from the PlayStation to a sharpened ballpoint pen. It must've worked because he gave tattoos to others before he was caught it was taken away. Sony PainStation via Inhabitat

I've been looking for a diagram all over the internet, but I just can't find one. I'm looking to adapt a PlayStation 2 controller to usb, to act as a gamepad for my computer. ( I do lots of emulation. ) I was thinking I would just have to replace the current connector with a usb end, does anybody have a diagram or some wisdom to share?

Hello guys/girls I got a Playstation controller (CECH-ZRC1E) its for PS3, AMP and TV but i want to sync my TV, but the problem is... I got a unknown TV (Terris LCD 2213, Medion, BEKE, TEVION) so i can't find the code for it plus The PS3 remote is IF (infrared) and the original is RF (Radio Frequency) So my question is, is it possible to sync it on one way? The chance of finding the codes isnt a problem but if i can use a IF remote on RF remove (That's what i'm thinking that its Infrared and Radio Frequency, when i block the top side of the original it wont work, and the PS3 will respond (tried it on the PS3 and it still react)

Hey, Intstructable-ers. I have a question (Obiovusly): I just bought a Interact GamePad for my Playstation original from a yard sale. Now, I've bought many Playstation controllers from yard sales before and opened them up to fix simple problems or clean them, but I have no clue what the heck is wrong with this one. It worked last night, and I was able to play a couple of games with it. When I woke up in the morning to play again, nothing. na-da. The controller just, -ahem-, pooted out. Yes, I tried playing with a official Playstation controlller and another 3rd-party controller, both of which work perfectly, so it's not the controller port. I was going to ask this question on Yahoo! Answers, but half the people on there are just looking for points and don't know anything. Don't let me down, Instructables community! P.S. If it helps any, the circuit board inside the controller are almost the same design as an official Sony Playstation Controller (Not Dual Analog/ Dual Shock). The only difference is that this controller board is much simpler.

I have checked all the cables and they are all connected right! It was working, then I turned it off and I picked it up and put it on my knee sideways. I then put it back down and it wasn't working. Could this have anything to do with it. Other things : Its a fat Ps2, its quite old.

Hi, I was recently given a wireless microphone for a ps2 game called dance UK. The person I got it from didn't want it and I thought it might be useful(I'm a junk collector ;D) it plugs into the controller port and the scart adapter, it seems to draw 12v from the ps2 for the transmitter, has an input cable for the microphone and an output cable to the scart adapter. On the scart adapter there is also a jack for an external speaker. Finally after some thinking about what it needs the controller port for; I decided it might be for volume control (it also says volume control on the bottom :P) Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could use this for? (I don't mind rigging it as long as it's not TOO much)

Hello, I have an interesting proposal for you all. I am interested in putting all of the hardware from a PS2 into a PS1 case. I want this for a friend of mine who cannot have a PS2 where he is. Is there anyone who has done this, or has any ideas that would help me? I have been told by one person that the hardware will never fit, but I've seen the crazy things people on here can do, so I thought I ask you all. Thank you

I don't have much information about this game aside from a vague description, but if anyone recognizes this, please speak up. So... What I know about this game, is that it is a multiplayer "rail shooter" type game for the original playstation. I remember that each player controlled a crosshair and each crosshair had a special attack. I remember the setting looking almost post-apocalyptic with destroyed buildings and tall skyscrapers. If anyone has the remotest idea of what I'm talking about, speak up please. I'll make sure to check all of the games in this genre.

I lost a good portion of my left hands fingers in a workshop accident 3 months ago. I just recently picked up my controller and tried to play. I have one inch left on my index finger and 1 1/2" left on my middle finger...those L1/L2 shoulder buttons are a PITA to reach. Can I somehow mod my controller to move the buttons counterclockwise so they are more on the left side of the controller near the D-Pad? For the PS3 I can probably buy a USB mod stick and use the XBox One controller but the PS4 has the touch area smack dab in the middle of the controller. I have a bunch of spare parts/controllers for the PS3 / PS4 that I bought...in case I needed to mod my buttons. Any ideas?
