How would i repair a Gilera H@K Speedometer drive? Answered

Hey there, well basically i have a Gilera H@K 50cc road bike and i have discovered that the speedometer does not work. I unscrewed the cable and with my fingers, twisted the cable as the bike would generally do while its moving. As i did this the speedo moved and was showing that the cable was not damaged. I then took the front wheel off the bike and removed the speedo drive. I removed the full cable so i could do some tests and i found that when i put the cable in the actual squared out hole that it just spun freely. the square shape has been worn down on the actual worm gear not the cable its self. so i was just wondering what would be the best way to get that square shape back, i was thinking about either taking off about 0.5cm of the hole then adding a home made piece that had a square hole cut out of the center. Would this be a good idea? or is there something else i could do like fill the hole and push the square rod through? I cannot find one of these on the internet well the only one i can find is over £40. I don't really want to buy this as i could easily just buy a digital speedometer and fit that to the bike. Thankyou in advance :D

How to learn to drive a car with a mph speedo when all the speeds are kph? Answered

I'm learning to drive in a Morris Mini but the speedo is in mph, when all the speed signs are in kph. Is there an easy conversion I can learn or should I just learn the local speeds in mph

Need A Reliable MECHANICAL Speedomenter?

I recently motorized a mountain bike and it is great.  I bet I can top 40MPH!!  Only problem is, I have no way of knowing for sure how fast I'm actually going.  I could buy a digital speedo for like $10-20 but I want the look of having a speed gauge on my bike, plus it's a little harder to read a digital speedo at a quick glance when the screen is like 2 inches long and wide!  I saw this mechanical speedo on ebay for $10-20, but some reviews of it on other sites says it breaks really easily, or as soon as it hits 30 MPH it goes crazy.  Does anyone know where I can get a reliable mechanical (analog) speedometer?

How to synchronize the brightness of a grille-mounted neon tube/LED bar to a car's tach/speedo?

I have a 1997 BMW 328i, and I've been thinking about installing either a neon tube or a bar of LED's in the grille of the car to use at night (most likely not street legal, I know). I want the brightness of the tube/bar to be controlled by one of two things: The speedometer or the tachometer. I.e., if the speedometer is at 0 MPH, the light is off, and if the speedo is at 75 MPH, the light is fully on. Same thing with the tach, light off at 0 RPM, light fully on at redline. Unfortunately, I haven't the slightest idea how to use the car's computer or the gauges themselves to set up a control module for the light. If any of you has a good amount of knowledge about automotive gauges, I would appreciate your help!

Records Ahoy!

'Specialist researchers at the University of Nottingham say they have developed one of the fastest swimsuits in the world.Scientists at NASA tested the fabric using specialised computer modelling technique to track fluid flow.Swimmers testing the new suit have so far broken three world records. The LZR racer suit, manufactured by Speedo, has up to 5% less drag in the water than a previous model produced last year.Jess Sylvester, a swimmer who has been testing the new suit in Nottingham, said she felt "like a rocket" when she wore it."I feel fast just standing out of the pool in the suit."As soon as I hit the water I feel really fast, really streamlined and it just gives me confidence wearing it."Dr Morvan said: "We focus on the hydrodynamics of the swimmer in the pool."Ms Sylvester added the suit was so tight that it stopped muscles "oscillating and vibrating" which caused drag and could slow swimmers down.World records set with the new swimsuit include those by:Australia's Eamon Sullivan, who shaved 0.08 seconds off Alexander Popov's record in the 50m freestyleZimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry who sliced 2/10th of a second off Hungarian Krisztina Egerzegi's record in the 200m backstrokeand American swimmer Natalie Coughlin who broke the 100m backstroke record in 59.21 seconds.BBC storyVideo of the suit in actionOdd Speedo game websiteUniversity of Nottingham Press ReleasePast Olympic row over Speedo suits.

My Costume Picture Entry

So I was hanging out with some buddies of mine in my spartan costume...betcha can't guess which one is me. My costume consists of: Helmet - Cardboard shape, covered in bondo and spraypainted. Bicycle helmey pads inside. Shield - Cut plywood, with a cardboard lambda, covered in bondo and spraypainted. Polyester straps are riveted/gorilla glued on the back. Cape - Scarlet cotton fabric with polyester straps to keep it from choking me. Beard/abs - Mom's eyebrow pencil...If you have experience with spirit gum, use that and fake hair, unfortunately, it didn't cooperate with me. Pantalones - If you're feeling frisky, wear a speedo, if not, brown shorts are acceptable

Arduino racecar dashboard help

Hey guys and girls. I'm hoping i can get some help here. We're building a race car as our project and were at the stage of needing a dashboard and the electrics. Now i know there are a lot of different units out there that run on the OBD/ CANBUS system but our car doesn't use it (our motor and gearbox is mid 80s with carbies and such) My problem, I have absolutely no experience in coding or Arduino, i've read multiple books and tutorials but there's still a lot that my brain doesn't understand (i guess there's a difference from copying someones code and writing it yourself) I know exactly how i want the finished unit to look like and what i want but i just cant work out how. What i need *An accurate tacho *Accurate speedo *Oil pressure *Engine Temp This all needs to be in a display form that is easy to read be it either one big LCD, an android tablet or a mixture of LED and LCD displays Any idea where to start with this? Thanks for everything
