Air tank testing

I have recently acquired a 25 litre compressor on which the motor was seized so my plan is to replace the motor and pump with a couple of fridge compressors however the tank is more than 10 years old and although I cannot see any damage is their anyway to check it is safe to pressurize to 8 bar? it has 175PSI stamped on it so I assume its designed with that as the maximum working pressure but I want to know if I can get it checked as I don't want to blow myself and my garage apart if it bursts I'm in the UK

Need a Gas Tank

Hey guys, this is my first time on the forum section of the instructables! Not a bad place to be, really. So here's the thing. I have this old scooter that I've had for as long as I can remember. It was the very first thing I rode that was powered by a motor and my father bought it for me so I could get ready for my first motorcycle (Which was sadly stolen about a year ago :/). Last year, my dad went back to our hometown to visit family and he brought it back with him, but there was one problem. We have no gas tank for it. I have NO idea where it could have gone or why it wasn't brought back. Oh well though. I have this scooter, the same as Wesley666 does. I'm having trouble finding the gas tank on my own. Notice that there is a gas tank that I took from a weed eater just to try it out. But I'm not sure it would work out very well. I mean, look at the size comparison between the two? I also want to keep original parts on this nostalgic machine. Sorry if the pictures are oriented weird, but these are taken with my phone. You can see from the thread posted above there is a picture that shows a blurry close up to the gas tank and I can't really tell what it says. "Something EBR Motor". Long story short I need to get that gas tank, maybe even the gas line that comes with it, in order to get this thing working again. Does anyone know of the brand name of the scooter so I could get the original parts I need?

water in 2 tanks

Hi, I have coffee machine with small water tank. i want to put large water tank next to it so i would not need to refill it every time. my problem is that the water tank in the machine is not sealed, so if i put more water with a hose from bigger tank it will spill out.. How can i create bigger water tank next to it so the smaller tank will refill automatically? Thanks,

Air Tank Help

Some friends and I are looking to make some projects, mainly air powered. We have been looking for an air tank to hold the pressure before we discharge it but have been having problems finding the exact part. I have found lots of the air tanks to fill tires and stuff like that but I need something to hold a good amount of pressure and let it out in one big shot and can be charge with a normal car tire air compressor. -I need to know the exact name this items goes by. (Just "air tank" gives me the tanks for tire inflation) -I need to know a webite or store to purchase them at. (Home Depot or Grainger by any chance?)

Handheld Flamer- No pressure tank?

Alright fellow instructables, here's the lowdown: I'm currently attempting to build a hand-held flamethrower that you only need one hand to use, sort of like a pistol. However, when I was looking at a diagram for a regular Army flamethrower, I realized something: The fuel tanks on the flamethrower werent pressurized, and the fuel was pushed out using a pressurized tank that was fed into the fuel tanks. Now here's my question: Because I'm just trying to make a little hand-held that I DON'T need to shoot 50 feet, can I skip the pressure tanks and just jump to a commercial fuel source, like one of those miniature camper stove fuel tanks? Thanks Outdoors!

Custom Fish tank stand

I am creating a custom fish tank stand from 2x4s and sheet wood. I plan to paint it black but I ran into 2 problems when I decided I didn't want the hood that came with the tank. 1) The lighting.     I have a pretty good history with LEDs so creating the lighting will not be too hard, only real issue I run into is sealing the lamp. I plan to use an acrylic sheet with holes drilled for the white and blue LEDs. White for day and a row of blue for moonlight on a 3 way rocker. I just dont want water to penetrate the holes from the ports for the light to damage the components. 2) The filter.    This is where I am at a loss. I plan on making something similar to this: http://tinyurl.com/fishtankdesign But I have no idea how to an external filter rather than one of the regular table top aquarium ones that would not look very pleasing on a nice stand. Any ideas questions comments or concerns please ask.

Regulator for disposable oxygen tanks? Answered

Does anyone know how I can get (or make) one of the regulator / valve things that screws on to a disposable oxygen tank? I would use the regulator from a propane torch but it has to have left hand threads. All the ones on Google shopping and Ebay cost like $40 and I realy don't want to pay that much, I'm thinking more like $10 or $15. I could use a Nitrous Oxide dispenser like the ones used for making whipped cream instead if anyone knows how to get or make one for the same price.

KNEX TANK with a mg with no chain.

My tankit has a mg. and uses no chain peaces. the only exotic peace it uses is a orange gear. like a yellow gear it has the pegs sicking out of it but only has half the pegs. it can be made by cutting off half the pegs if you want. not very power full but that is because i am using a clasic motor. the motor has to pull bach the ram so to much rubberbands and the motor can not pull bach the ram. if made with a beter motor it could be stronger.o and the last picture is of all my knex guns :)

Helium Tank Aluminum Foundry

I was looking through the internet, and was linked to this page. There they used a freon can for the foundry shell, but I thought those small helium tanks would work too. I kinda knew that a dremel wouldn't cut through it, but it is just what I put on there. I used Inkscape and GIMP to make it.Also, does anyone know a good source for fire clay? I've heard that masonry supply stores are a good bet. Another thing - does anyone know a good page on a cheap, simple, charcoal foundry? I made a .gif animation describing my ideas, below. In the animation, I meant to put the part about cutting the hole for the blower in the beginning, too (after I cut the top off).

Instructable wanted "How to build a Fish Tank"

I have been browsing through all the fish tank instructables and I thought that they were rather rubbish to be honest.... I want an instructable to build a decent tank in a rectangle shape with the dimensions of Height: 12" Length: 20" Depth:14" (Dimensions do not have to be followed but appreciated if they are and dimensions do not include lid space) If there is also any specific thicknesses needed for the tank to hold the capicity of water this would greatly appreciated if stated. I would also like the person who choses this project to use links to websites for the materials/tools (preferably English GBP currency) Any links to what types of fish are work well together would also be a bonus. Thanks in advance to anyone who will write the instructrable for this.

What type of tank should I build? Answered

I am planning to build a ~2:5 scale tank using this video as a guide. I am trying to decide whether to build the base as electric or gas powered like he does in the video. Electric may be less powerful but it is easier to assemble. (for me at least) I may even make an Instructable on it when I get the time. Any suggestions would be welcome. Although I have pretty much settled on a modern M1A1 Abrams-style design for the shell, my mind could be changed.

How do i plug a leak on the bottom of my 5,000 gallon well water tank? Help!? Answered

I can patch the side leaks on me metal tank easy enough with marine epoxy. but there's no way i can crawl in the tank without destroying the bottom with my weight. i would like to find something i can pour in there that would sink and find the hole and cover it up. wouldn't take much with the water pressing against it. maybe some sort of saw dust? it would eventually sink and find the leak? but it can't rot over time or have bad chemicals in it...  or something made of much smaller particles? really needs to be a remedy tested by time, maybe something from our grandfather's day. or, i could make a remote controlled robot with manipulators and a camera! nahhhhhh..... thanks

The roof tank is 35 ft above the basement tank and the top of the basement tank is connected at the bottom of the roof tank with 1/2 inch Pex with valves. Is there a simple way of pumping the basement water to the empty roof tank. Unfortunately I can't use city water pressure to force the basement water up to the roof. I am trying to transfer the basement water to the roof leaving the basement tank empty.

Circulating pump with thermostat

I have a 1550 gallon water holding tank and plumbing in an outshed in Fairbanks, Alaska. The pump and pressure tank are also in the outshed heated with an electric heater. To save energy I'm thinking to install a circulating pump inside the tank that circulates through the plumbing inside the outshed to keep it from freezing but not necessarily to the portion of water pipe going under ground to the crawlspace of the house. It should also have a thermostat to start heating when the temp of the water gets to 32 degrees or so. Is there any such thing and if so, how would it be installed? Thanks!

Tour of the Largest Private Collection of Military Vehicles

Through the MIT Club of Northern California, Christy and I got the chance to tour the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation's collection in Portola Valley. Seeing 100 tanks from different time periods lined up and seemingly ready to roll was pretty amazing. I've always had a thing for half-track vehicles, and was especially pleased to see a half-track motorcycle (SdKfz 2 Kleines Kettenkrad). In all honesty, this is probably one of the most impractical vehicles ever created, but it just looks so cool. My other favorites to see in-person were a SCUD missile launcher (SS-1b Scud A) and an M48A5 AVLB (armored vehicle-launched bridge). They also have a large shop where they repair, rebuild, and often re-engineer parts to restore the various tanks. While I was there, they were in the middle of repairing a World War II-era German tank found in a river. The collection is the hobby of Jacques Littlefield, whose father, Edmund Littlefield, amassed a $1.7 billion fortune by running the family construction and mining company, Utah International, and merging it with GE (more here at Forbes). The Instructables forums aren't exactly the best place to few 57 pictures, so here's my Flickr set, and here's the Flickr set of the person who organized the tour.
