TV options?

Im looking for a "tv" under 200$. My parents won't let me get a real "TV", but a computer monitor or a portable dvd player are ok. Preferably more than 10 inch, and it needs to have either composite inputs or "mini" composite inputs. Suggestions?

TV antenna

Is it possible to make a tv antenna from an old router? I have an old router and a tv antenna. I am trying to do this because my stupid cable provider won't pick up a second CBS. Then my TV tower fell about 5 years ago. Last month I found this station. It's 79.2 miles away. My little indoor TV antenna pick it up at NIGHT, on CLEAR skies only. (Not in the day) and I have to hold the antenna. I know routers would be didgital (if that has anything to do with it). My tv does have the digital tuner. On digital I can't pick it up, but i do somewhat on analog.

Sceptre tv

Hi  I have a fairly new TV < 1 year old.  Upon adjusting the volume on the TV remote the picture began cycling colors as shown above. Grey, black, white, red, green, blue...over and over I can still hear the volume, but no picture...just flashing colors.  Also no features on remote are currently working. Have powered off and re-powered on TV...no help. Please help- Thanks much- Eric

Live chassis on a TV? Answered

I was given a TV, (Panasonic TC-1485); it directs the sound to the side rather than to the front and it's not very clear. I was going to take the wires from the internal speaker and solder them to a 3.5 jack socket so that I could use it with headphones. I read today that until recently TVs were 'live chassis', does this mean it would be dangerous to wire up headphones or have I misunderstood? Thank you.

Linking Multiple TVs

Does anyone know how to link 4 (2 more more really) TVs together so that the resulting image is a HUGE image off the DVD player? I've had some luck making it 4 separate images (same one on each TV) but would like to know how to make one large image. Thanks!

Uses for a handheld TV?

I have this handheld analog TV and I wondered if there was any use for it. A friend gave it to me he bought it just after the analog to digital conversion. It works and is brand new. Does anyone knowa use for it? Do you think any one would buy it if I tried to sell it through the instructables forum. Thanks

Portable Homemade TV Answered

I built a TV from an old laptop screen and one of those LCD control boards you can get from eBay but I’m curious how to go about adding a battery to it to make it portable. So, my question is, how do I go about battery safety and how do I control charging and isolation? For example, if I plug the TV in because the battery is dead, do I just have a charging board between the input and battery and let the charging board take care of the rest? And the same question is applied to when the battery is at peak charge but I don’t want to use the battery just simply plugged in. The battery is a 12v 2A lipo and I don’t want any fires. I’ve thought about adding a switch to simplify things but that’s inconvenient and armature I could make a circuit that would cut off the flow when the battery is at peak I suppose but I’m not sure of the schematics or if that is the right approach. I’m good at building just not figuring this stuff out….

Flo TV hacks?

So I've got a defunked FloTV since the service was cancelled.  I was wondering if there are any fun hacks that can be done to it since now it's just sitting around collecting dust.  I don't want to toss it because it has a nice screen and speakers but right now its worthless.  I doubt that there is any onboard memory or anything like that to it, which would be a big help.  Anyone have any ideas?

Re-using Smart TV board from dead TV to make another TV smarter...

Hi, I have just bought LG 47GA6400 TV but I damaged LCD screen (CRD31092201) when I was assembling it.  I couldn't find low cost LCD to replace and I started wondering how I can reuse any remaining parts of this TV. Actually there are many people like me wondering what to do with dead Smart TV. Few years ago you would receive a standard advice – throw it away. But today Smart TV parts are powerful and with your help might be re-used again... Here is an example: My LG TV has mainboard with dual core CPU,  Google TV inside and cool remote controller with QWERTY keyboard and tons of applications.... I wish I could reuse it with other, not so smart LCD TV I have.  The only problem, how to connect Smart TV mainboard to a HDMI.  It doesn't have HDMI out, it has only input ports and one LCD interface cable.... Is it a crazy idea to convert LCD interface back to HDMI or VGA ? Can you create an instructables to show how to do that ?

Casio pocket Tv: Tv-1900B info/suggestions on uses?

I just received a casio pocket television model: Tv -1900b, produced somewhere in the late 80-mid 90's(cannot find year) as a gift from my sister, purchased for 2.99 from goodwill, she bought it because I like vintage electronics, and thought it was useable as she was not aware of the difference between dtv and analog, and took the label heading that it received working channels for true, from my research it appears to be functioning but is receiving no signal due to the dtv transition. this is my problem, I am trying to figure out ways around not having an available analog broadcast to pick up, and can not find much info for this tv model online, not even part labels manuals or specs, Im wondering what my options for use or connecting it to another device are.. There is what appears to be an extra headphone sized jack/connector at the top next to the speaker, and a headphone plug does fit into it... but the label for it is long gone, so I do not know if it is an external antenna connection, external composite video in port, external video out port, or a service port of some kind, as it is right next to the rod antenna  screw connection, what exactly is it, and can it be used for an external video/sound input connection?, I see that  on other models before and after this one it can be used as a video/audio input, when utilized with a rca to headphone adapter cord but that does not tell me for sure if mine has that ability. What are my options with this?, I have some technologic know-how, but could not build my own signal transmitter, oscilloscope, built in jack, etc from scratch. is this model capable of easy external connections?, is the extra hole for an antenna input, video input or both?, can a box, dvd or vcr be connected, also is wrapping wire around the antenna and then connecting to the coaxial output on an external device feasible? Iv seen it work on other pocket tv's on the internet but dont know about the true signal quality/effeniency I would be able to make most physical external connection adapters myself, or, are adapters other then the headphone to rca adapters sold to remedy the problem of having a rod antenna and little to no external hook-ups? p.s I am not opposed to having it constantly wired/tethered to a much larger device, as it would be used for a novelty or in a small area where a larger unit would be to big or unweildy, like next to a bed, spot at the table, etc, also I would probably not use it for cctv or similar as I have little to no use for such things the picture included is not of my actual item, but the same model and version, for reference purposes I appreciate any help, as it appears to be functioning it would be a shame to not find a use for .

remote code for curtis tv?

I have a curtis LEDVD1975A-2 tv that I got for christmas. I have it hooked up with my comcast digital converter and the little remote with it. I am trying to calibrate it or whatever so I can control the power and volume of the tv with the comcast remote. The instructions for my remote say to hold the set button until the light blinks twice, then enter the 5 digit code. Well, the code the manual for the tv says is 2295. Only 4 digits. It doesnt work. Comcast does have a thing that gives you codes other people have used but none of them have worked for me yet. They say 11326 and 11531. Here is the link to the thing I am trying to use to get codes. http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=426

broken led tv uses?

I have a 32" Visio led with a cracked screen, way too expensive a repair to justify going through with, but I want to utilize the parts for other projects if I can. the tv was brand new so all the boards, LEDs, speakers, wires, etc... are in perfect condition and I was wondering if there is anything cool I could do with them. I was thinking about rigging the boards up to a 7" LCD screen I have and installing it in my car to add tv/DVD/audio in/hdmi/USB to my dashboard but I'm not sure how to go about connecting the 30pin LCD monitor cable to the componant screen input.  anyone have any ideas on how to do this? or anything else I could do with all my newly acquired parts?

Using headphones for listening to tv.?

My panasonic tv does not have bluetooth. I have new Marley headphones. Theywork well but not when the channel says Dolby or no good with Netflix as they appear to all transmit in Dolby. I purchased both a digital to analogue converter and bluetooth transmitter as advised but still cannot get Netflix audio or those channels using Dolby. Is it because bluetooth will not transmit analogue??
