I have been thinking of building something like a two-way radio except that it should be more like a mobile phone network with the exception of call charges. it will be used in a small environment of about 100 people. I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to build something like this.

Ok, so, it was a pretty lame day at work, what with the apogee server crashing, and me being the only one to sort it. There was three upsides to my day, Firstly, my colleague gave me a cool pair of 3D glasses! (which is good, cos now i can see everything in 3D!) Secondly, my local burger king opened again, and i had an extra large bacon double cheeseburger! Thirdly, my book came, along with, MY OTHER BOOK! I knew that i had got into the book twice, which is great! but i only expected one copy of the book! Alas, i am now the proud owner of two copies of the book! So, i have to ask, does this mean i get two patches? did anyone else get into the book more than once, and received two copies? am i one of a kind? - gmjhowe

When i plug 2 keyboards they are recognised as one device. So I just need to make that Guitar Hero World Tour let me play 2 people with one keybord. And then I will be able to use two keyboards. I don't know if this is going to work. I think that here may be other solutions. So please tell me how can I play Guitar Hero with my friends wthout using guitars.
I have 2 accounts for some reason. I did not create 2 intentionally, but somehow I did. Is there some way to combine them?!?! Carol Oswald

Youtube poster RinpaEshidan puts up some great videos of walls being painted and repainted several times over and sets them to a nice groovy soundtrack. I find them helpful for when I need to give my mind a bit of a mental reboot. Here are two worth checking out.Do you guys have any favorite drawing/creating videos or other forms of inspiration?

Hi, I'm working on a project where we're working on a tele-operated robot and we are looking to include the ability to have a conversation. We would be looking to use earbuds and a microphone on the operator side and a speaker and microphone on the robot side. Does anyone know how to go about implementing this? It needs to be hands free on both ends as the operators arms are being mapped to the robots arms. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I wonder if any one can help me? I have fitted a two stroke engine kit to a cycle of mine, the thing was running perfect for 220 odd miles then starting stopping and would start again after a few minutes of pedalling. I have changed the petrol mixture and this has seemed to alter things slightly, now it will go but will not rev and only goes to a certain speed then starts kangarooing. When I engage the clutch it will not ideal it just conks out. Could there be something wrong with the accelerator perhaps? Thanks a very frustrated Paul

And we're off!At 3:30 this morning I began making the WOD's [waffles of departure] and gathered my friends. This was it, I was having my goodbye breakfast. We sat around a giant LED display that was playing tetris on autopilot like we were at a sports bar and called the AI engine out on it's bad plays. Choice is the name of the game in AI, how do you make the optimal choices with limited knowledge about the present and doubt about the future?I drank my cocoa considering the choices I've made to hit the skies and shoot a documentary on hackerspaces, and it filled me with exhilaration. What could be more critical than doing something that gives you the energy to do the thing you want to be doing? There has to be this ignition point to push the chooser into action, creating this snowball of awesome gathering steam as it goes downhill. Rather than chilling with Sysiphus on his uphill downhill journey. Feeling energized, feeling pumped, I called my friends around me and we ate to good health and poured generous libations of yogurt smoothie [Spilled the contents of the blender on the floor].

Have two old electric linear screw actuators that work great. I Need a lift table but can't figure out how to put it all together. I don't know what width or type of metal use for the lift or the bolt hinges???. Does it have to be a scissor lift or can I keep the actuators where they are at each end of the bed, wire them to work together and make a lift that way? I need an affordable way of doing this and it only needs to lift to about 500 lbs. from 17 inches off floor to 30 inches off floor. All framing is angle iron but seems heavy duty. Anyone's help if greatly appreciated as I just cannot afford to spend $ 1000. + on an electric massage lift table. The pic is after everything but the motor/actuators were removed. Thanks Deb

Not that anyone cares, but I just realized that I've been a member of Instructables for 2 years now! It's been a while since I've written a completely self-serving post and I just thought this was a personal event worth noting. So.... how long have you all been members? P.S. I haven't been on here too much recently, but I'm liking the new editor. P.P.S. It's easy to do crazy formatting!

New Replacement MOTOROLA NTN7143 Two Way Radio Batteries buy from http://www.tradesourcesonline.com/replacement-motorola-ntn7143-two-way-radio-batteries_p9571.html usually comes in a discharged condition and with a very low capacity. It is generally recommended to fully charge new battery packs before use. The MOTOROLA NTN7143 battery pack needs to be circulated (fully discharged and recharged) 3 - 5 times to reach its optimum performance.

I have a two stroke weed eater engine (actually from a tiller but it's the exact same) and I am having trouble getting it to run. I have the carb screw tightened all the way so the carb is opened up as much as it can be but when I start it, it coughs like it wants to die then it dies. If I squeeze the throttle a little it will continue running or if I squeeze it all the way it will still run. It just won't run if I let it sit. Also, I am intending to use it to put on a bike and it has a clutch but it doesn't really work that well. It will engage without even squeezing the throttle. Any idea of where I can get a small geared clutch that will fit it? Thanks.

Ok so I have this crazy idea to make a two stroke engine out of paper that runs on hydrogen and well ive allready built part of it just the piston head and cylider and stuff but if i lined the inside of the cylinder with tin foil would that be enoth to keep the paper from burning? and so ya anyways the engine of i have made allready is very sturdy each peace is 10 sheets of paper or more compressed for over 24 hours now the compression im not two worried about because its more of the sheer pop of the explosion that will push the piston down well i guess thats how it is anyways but if the gas ignites anyways with oxygen why have compression for this anyways because the explosion is going to be soooo small anyways that it wont really matter much. the overall size of the engine is about almost 2" tall by about 1" wide on the widest part the bottom . So um I know by now im classified as "CRAZy" but that asside can i get some opinions and ideas plz. thanks MRN

The assembly of the Two Hands Project was complete as we fortuitously intersected directly at the gates to NoiseBridge nouveau. An odd bunch from Chicago/Alaska, Michigan/Boston, and Florida/notsureyet we were meeting for the first time since the inception of the project, and we were ready to rock. Having almost no equipment after meeting up with Mitch and experiencing excellence and consensus in action we go to Sadies house (what a great lady), stay up late, and work all night. Starting the tradition that will continue to this day. Hopping on Paul's tiny folding bike I run across town gathering Mic's, video cameras and miracle fruit. Meeting up with the crew dazed and confused walking around town with tons of gear on their back we were glad to have a brief breakfast with SkyT, Mitch and FBZ before checking out the reMakeLounge. At the reMakeLounge we met up with Inna who saved our lives, 300 times. With her help we were able to talk with the folks at the Internet Archive where we met up with Mang. She drove us over to Oakland, back to SF, and finally back to the Airport. If there's one lady that made the SF leg of this trip possible it was Inna.Mang and his roommate Mike have an awesome Hacker Space appended to their home. We were given a rare peek into Radish Research which they opened up to us. It's been amazing how much people have opened up to us this trip! I'd like to take this moment to thank you all for your kindness, generosity and ability to withstand the rush that is The Two Hands Project. Hee!Posting would happen more frequently if it weren't for the emergency nature of this trip. I just realized that I had a dream this morning in the same location... twice. By that, I mean (in a gaming sort of fashion) you started playing a game, then halfway through, your mom called you and you had to save your progress. You then resume to your most recent progress in the game and continue playing. It felt something like that, and I can't explain how that happened (also given that I had the first one weeks ago). Out of curiosity, has anyone else experienced such a thing? And if so, what are they called (if at all)? ***It's been a while since I've done anything in Instructables lately.

Hi I'm just in the process of refurbishing the bathroom of a flat I bought. It's all been plastered out already and I realised I've no extract! So, I created a plenum at hi level and mounted a fan under floor and have ducted it out. I want to run the small AC extract fan 24/7 at low speed (kinda tick over speed) and then switch it to hi speed when either the humidity goes up (cos the shower is running) or the light goes on (assumes someone's using the WC!). I can't get to the lighting wiring so I'll need to sense that remotely. I can fit a humidity sensor in the duct work. I've tried everywhere to find something suitable with zero joy. Is anyone here able to point me in the right direction?

Okay, so I want to build a set of two-way speakers. BUT, I'm still confused on this one part. Do I need an amp, or some kind of receiver for them to work? Or can I plug them straight into the device? Thanks for your help, sorry if this is a dumb question.

Hi,I'm working on building a tele-operated robot that will be able to send signals generated by moving your arms and mapping these to the robot arms. I'm looking to add an intercom system to the robot that would allow for the operator to speak into a microphone and come out a speaker on the robot and a microphone on the robot so send audio that someone speaking to the robot generates to the operator.I've currently been looking into VOX circuits and walkie talkies but all walkie talkies I have seen require both sides to use a headset. It would be fine for the operator of the robot to use a headset but it would be better for the speaker and microphone on the robot to be out loud. Does anyone have ideas about how this type of system could be implemented? Could I replace the PTT button on a walkie talkie with a voice activated switch kit available online?Thank you.

Hi, I'm in need of some help with a project I'm working on. I'm looking to build a handsfree two way audio communication circuit but I've been getting very confused when looking at material online and don't know where to look or how to even start. I've been looking into full duplex communication but I have no idea how to implement this in a circuit I could build. I'm confused as to if I would need a microcontroller (probably an arduino) or not and what transceivers and antennas to use. If anyone could show me where to look or help me get a starting point your help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I recently took the pamel (pennsylvania math league test thing) and for one of the questions it said: rearrange the numbers 2 in anyway with mathmatical symbols to get the highest number possible. I though the answer was 2 to the 222 power The answer was 2 to the 2 to the 22 power Is this correct? I thought that you would multiply the powers to get 2 to the 44 power, now have the power to the power and get 2 to the 4194304 power.

I found Yabasic as an extra for a PS2 demodisc, and i recently dug it out from my Ps2 pile. it is a fun and simple piece of software for creating small programs, in which you type a command (eg. print, input, goto, beep etc.) and then a piece of text. here is a code for a simple number guess program, sorry for mistakesREM Number guess gameprint "I am thinking of a number between 1 and 50, try to guess it!"input a$if (a$>13) thenprint "your number was larger than mine!"goto inputendifelseif (a$print "your number was smaller than mine!"goto inputendifelseif (a$=13) thenprint "My number was 13! Congratulations, you win!"Feel free to edit the prints, and the number doesn't have to be 13. there are other things involving string variables and other commands. heres one called identitiy finderREM Identity finder programPrint "What is your name?" :":input a$Print "How old are you, ",a$,"?" :":Input b$Print "And where do you live, ",a$,"?" :":Input c$Print "so your name is ",a$,", you are ",b$," years old and you live in ",c$,", correct?"Pause 5Feel free to add more string variables, just add them as d$, e$, f$ etc.anyway, post coding for more yabasic programs, and use the stuff above!

Would connecting like 2 or more single cylender horizontal engines like briggs and strattons together flywheel to shaft run as like a 2 cylender in line engine? or has anyone done it even? example : if [0- represents an engine with the [ being the flywheel, the 0 the crankcase/block and the - a shaft then this is my idea [0-[0-[0- and so on like a two cylinder would be [0-[0- would this work? what would i have to do to get this to work?

I love all things survival, and I used to love Survivorman with Les Stroud. After he stopped his Survivorman series, he made a new show called Survive This. It's about survival among kids. I love this show, and have watched the entire first season. The second season is out now, but it being a Canadian TV show, I can't seem to watch it on my TV, or even find a place to watch it online. Season One was on Cartoon Network, so I could watch that. Cartoon Network dropped the show, though, so now I can't find a place to watch Season Two. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Right, Firstly im not sure if this is in the right part of this forum. Basically i want to make (or buy) a two way wired phone system and other end needs to ring upon picking up my end. I've searched here and online for something which will do this and i rememebr having a set of these when i were a kid. Now i have kids of my own i have built a wooden playhouse at the bottom of garden and would like to be able to ring from there to the house with only a pick up of the other end or something equally similar. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE! If anyone can post me details of how to make this or a website from which i can buy it from would be great been searching for weeks. Thanks

I am planning on making a very high volume compressor from a small engine. I plan to adjust timing and stuff accordingly. I just wan't to make sure an engine can handle the pressure. I assume it can because of the explosions it can contain but I just want to be sure it can handle 125-200psi. And also, is 2 stage really necessary or can I just push all the air in in one stage with a couple pistons.

Here it is. 2 days solid work and this is what you get. Project dos. Dos meaning 2 in spanish, it is an apropriate name. It has 3 tracks, and stands over 3 feet tall. (Maybe this should be my 3rd ball machine ;)) but anyway, watch the video, enjoy! Also, I won't bother posting unless you want me to, so If i get 10 requests I will, if not I will leave it.EDIT: The machine is posted! here it is!

My idea is that instead of putting ice in the same spot as the beverages, you put them away from them. In the cooler, instead of four walls and one bottom, there would be eight walls and two bottoms. In the inner walls(the walls in the cooler) will carry ice water(with salt to make it colder perhaps?) and so would the very bottom. The center will of course carry the beverages which would become cold by the ice from the bottom and the sides. For a lid, I was thinking of just plain of latches, or a ledge on all four sides to support a lid. Also, which is better for a cooler? Foam or plastic?
