So this weekend is shot with the image uploader having problems uploading and the problem continues. On various systems(XP,IE and firefox, new and old uploader) I get the 302 error after the upload wait and now the server maintenance message. I am sure this is discouraging to anyone trying to work on an instructable, especially new members that want to contribute to the slew of contests. I hope it gets resolved soon or else some instructables like the one below will be on a summer hiatus.

I'm in the process of writing my first instructable. i tried to upload pictures to go with it, but after i uploaded several pictures the loading process of the next picture stopped or got stuck. i aborted, tried again and after 2 more pictures it got stuck again. so i guess since i could upload more pictures after it stopped for the first time it can't be some kind of data-volume limit. so why does uploading stop and what can i do against it?

I can not upload excel files to my instructible. I have tried 20 or more times, closed the browser and repeated, tried another browser, renamed the files but nothing seems to work. I have had this problem before and sometimes after about 2 hours of frustration, the files suddenly upload correctly. This is extremely annoying. Can anything be done to fix this fault ?

Hello, I have an Arduino Duemilinove with Atmega 328 and Arduino 1.0 programming language. I am using a Mac. Whenever I try to upload a program, It tells me avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding. I have downloaded all the drivers and normally the port that the Arduino is on starts with /dev/tty.usbserial, but that does not show up. I have tried on a PC also and it doesn't upload either.

Newbie I tried many times last night to upload pictures to my library and had no luck. Watched a youtube video on the subject, but still no luck. Are there an instructable to show me what I am doing wrong? I am using a newer Mac. Are the pictures in the wrong format I was able to choose files . when I hit upload, nothing seemed to happen and the library was empty. The text I entered vanished into the unknown.

I just uploaded 200MB of images for a new instructable, and I can't find them in "my library" or anywhere else for that matter. I used the new uploader, and I'm in Firefox 3.0.6 using no funny plugins. (no dragdrop or anything.) I've waited several minutes, since I figured there might be a delay for thumbnail generation or something, but I just can't find the images anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

I usually put my logo and url in nearly all my photos and shrink them down to 640 X 480.When I upload the bigger pics, should I remove the logo and url for the sake of the editors?Just wondering. It's for this instructable:IKEA lamp hack

I am working on an 'ible for the camera & photo skills challenge. I have 27 files I wish to include in it & want to show the better ones in all their glory & in some cases not so glorious faliure. To this end I would like to upload them without reducing the files size any more than would be done by simple cropping. I know many sites limit the individual file & total flie set size you can upload so before I upload about 15mb of pictures I would like to know it that's the case on Instructables. Does anyone know if there is such a limit in place? Thanks in advance for your input folks.

I have an Instructable in a contest right now (https://www.instructables.com/id/Custom-Laser-Etched-Wedding-Invitations-With-Victo/?ALLSTEPS) and I had previously uploaded files for others to use but I'm not seeing any links to them. Did I miss something? Am I looking right past them (a distinct possibility)? Did they get taken down for some reason? Or is this merely a glitch?

I just tried to create my first instructable but I can't seem to upload an image. Or rather, when I select an image file then click upload I get a progress indicator that goes from 0% to 100%. After it gets to 100% I see a grey progress bar for a fraction of a second then nothing happens, no image, just the page exactly as it was before. As I've never done this before I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong or whether it's a bug. Also, I tried dragging an image to the white box in the middle of the page. That crashed the browser. I'm using Pale Moon and the image is a jpeg

Hi, I already had this problem before, and I have no idea how to solve it - I took this picture with my iphone. It rotates the picture automatically on the phone, but when I try to upload it to the website it's not rotated. When I try to rotate it again before uploading it doesn't work either. Thanks! Merav

My apologies, I realize how much I have been slacking in posting Instructables. Part of the delay is due to living in the boonies with internet service that works about as fast as dial-up, and the other was the old image upload system. So, I popped in last week, and what should I find, to my complete surprise and thorough amazement, a new image system. Wow, is it ever the best! /I LOVE the new system. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! This is wonderful. The features, the gadgets, it is all the best! (skipping off to create a new Instructable while whistling a happy tune)

I have been trying for a few days now to get one of my youtube videos on Instructables with no success. I have done it before, so I know how to do it. When I get to the page where it wants me to paste the embed code from youtube, it alerts me at the bottom of the page saying "Unsupported Video Host" (in white letters on an orange banner). I have tried changing the embed code several ways, and using just the URL....nothing seems to make any difference. I tried in a new browser. I tried on different days. My other video from youtube works just fine. Am I doing something wrong or is there some kind of bug?

But only three appear in the slideshow after repeatedly saving and publishing. The image here is the one that won't appear. It's from Flickr

I'm trying to upload images to my first instructables. The first picture I uploaded in the intro was a vertical picture and uploaded fine, but the rest of my vertical pictures in the steps are all turned to the side so they're landscape instead of portrait. I've tried uploading them a few times but it still doesn't work. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

As I am working on a somewhat picture heavy instructable I running almost all the times I try to upload pictures into the following problem: I select the files/images I want to upload and add to the step I'm working on, hit the upload files button and wait for the magic to happen. Then it starts uploading. Then on a seemingly random file the upload stops and I have to cancel that file. The upload then continues until it stops again, sometimes on the next file, sometimes it uploads some other files in between. When I had to cancel the upload of the last picture once, all the images did cancel (at least they didn't show up in the library). Normally on a second or third try the images upload fine. There was also one that was corrupted but then I got a error message back and the upload of the other files worked fine. I am using Firefox 20.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro

You may have run into trouble uploading images to forum topics, or directly to your image library. The old image uploader is being phased out, and will soon be replaced by the uploader that is part of the new editor. The recommended temporary work-around is to start an instructable that you do not publish, but any images you upload to it will become available in your image library. You may find it easier to keep that draft instructable "on file" until the uploading issue is sorted, just be careful not to accidentally publish it!

Hello, I just posted my first Instructable. I uploaded photos and a .dxf file. However, I tried to upload a .crv file and it looks like it uploads (bar goes to 100%) but it does not show up in the file list. A .crv is a file for the program Vcarve, which is a CAM program used to create CNC files for machines like a ShopBot. Are there limitations on the file types that can be uploaded or some other limitation? thanks -John

I am unable to add images to instructable. Whenever I click the upload button it gets disabled and nothing happens. I can upload images via app, but them moving images around from computer to phones is a pain, also editing on phone takes too long. Here too getting file uploads disabled due to server maintenance for Flickr import.

1) Using latest stable Chrome for Windows 8.1 2) Viewing image library 3) Clicking "Upload Images" 4) Drag-dropping an image into the target area 5) Press the orange "Upload" button. The button disables. 6) wait ... wait ... wait ... nothing ever happens Chrome Version 45.0.2454.85 Curiously, the new uploader dialog for this bug report form doesn't allow me to even browse to an image, but the old uploader seems to work, but after uploading, the screen shot of the bug doesn't show up below, either.

For some reason I can't upload images to an old instructable I've been working on. I can upload them to new instructables, but not an old saved one I'm trying to finish. Also when I scroll through the images in the library, where it displays "showing 10 - 20 of 100" the first number becomes negative? It will say "showing -10 to 20 of 100" or something like that ?
Posted by scraptopower 6 years ago
When you implemented the new upload tool, I couldn't use it in Chrome on a Windows 7 laptop. You drag and drop the file to a location on the page and then click upload. However, the upload button was off-screen and I couldn't scroll to it. Weird! I got around the problem by using another browser for a while. Recently, I discovered that the zoom setting was over 100%! I hadn't zoomed in…. By setting it back to 100%, I could access the upload button. Why do the create pages change the zoom setting on on you? Why can't you scroll to the button in Chrome?

I can upload images, but they don't seem to store anywhere. The only time it has worked, I accidently uploaded a dumb picture as my avatar when I didn't want one. All I did was upload and suddenly, dumb avatar. I couldn't get rid of it, so uploaded another barely acceptable pic in it's place. I can't put anything in my library, or find any standard patch pictures anywhere. Is it me or my software, or a bug? Windows XP Professional V2002 Service pack 3. IE 7.

When I make a step by step Ible in the new editor, it takes me an enormous amount of time to upload the pictures (like a whole day!). A lot of uploads will "hang" and must be aborted for the uploader to continue with the next picture. When I upload them again they might work that time or not. First I thought it was because I always upload huge pictures, but when I made the pictures smaller (less then 500 kb) the problem still occurs. After many tries, I managed to get them all uploaded, but it doesn't really invite me to do a new Ible. Making the Ible takes more time than doing the project this way. In the old editor you could write the Ible while the pictures where uploading. In the new one you can just wait. It would be great if the uploading could happen in the background again. Writing the text takes me some time, because English is not my first language. I am using a Mac with Lion and the newest version of Safari. This problem occurred with the writing of my last couple of Ibles. In my last Ible https://www.instructables.com/id/Faux-paining-copper-plating-effect/ was especially picture DSC06149 a real adventure to get uploaded.
