Can anyone tell me how to delete ur account?

There appears to be no one to write to (email/messages) to close you account. There is no link, nothing. Need to know the who/what/where/when/how of closing account. This doesn't seem quite right that you can't quit!

Hello! My pro membership is about to expire, and I looked at my account because I've earned a couple of free memberships, and I wanted to activate them. I see one I got for having a featured instructable or something (3 mos) but I'm pretty sure I won a free 1 yr membership when I won a contest this summer, but I don't see anything in my account about that. Please help? Thanks!

I am writing an instructable and i got this email "I saw you started working on your first Instructable". It says FIRST instructable, but i have published 3 i'bles before. Is there any problem with my account? should i be worried?

Hi, I spent time writing up a portion of an instructable (a lot of time). I clicked the save button, and it indicated it was saved. I've searched around my account page and can't find anywhere to get back to it so I can continue editing it. Help anyone? This seems silly, but I can't find a link anywhere. (I found some threads about finding published instructables, but not about finding those that are saved, but not yet published.) Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this is a true bug, but here goes nothing: I tried to log in to add a comment to an Instructable, but I couldn't seem to recall my password, so I used the (lost username/password?) link at the bottom of the dialog screen and entered my e-mail. Sure enough, I received an email from you letting me log in using a reset code: Username: taserian Reset code: [CODE REPLACED] Reset here: [LINK REPLACED] But when I try to reset my password, it still asks me for my old one, which is what I couldn't remember in the first place. The reset code and link only allowed me to enter the site using my account, but won't allow me to reset my password without using my older one. To re-enter my account after shutting down my computer, I would have to resend a request for a lost username/password. The reset link should drop you into a page that allows you to reset your password. Thank you.

I know how instructables already has loads of information without being a pro. But we have this lab project that we have that we really need to do in order to pass and we would need to download a pdf file for the codes for the program. Im willing to subscribe for one month since i saw that it would only cost 2.95/month, but then when i look at the check out, it is 35.40 dollars? does that mean ill be charged 35.40 dollars right away when i subscribe? i find instructables really useful and i think i might be able to go back here for our future projects in school but i dont think i could afford to give 35.40 dollars when i think we would only need it for a month, :( Maybe there could be a one month trial? Any help or information would be really great! Thank you in advance!

I was wondering if there was a way to unlink my Instructables account from my Facebook account. I was planning to delete my Facebook account very soon, but still wanted to keep my Instructables account. Anyone know how to do this? thanks!

One of my instructables got featured and I got a mail regarding a promo code for upgrading to pro membership. After I have upgraded to pro membership, I am unable to log in into my account and it is showing 'Sorry, your account is currently disabled' . I need to participate in a contest waiting to post my instructables but unable to do so. Kindly help at the earliest. The account in question is : prem_Sagar

I tried to sign up for a Pro Account. I tried on two different computer, using both IE and FireFox. I also tried to pay using PayPal and CC. I entered my CC info, after submitting, I was taken to a blank page. The same happened when I attempted to pay with PayPal.

Hi, I have paid a 3 month pro membership but if i logged in, I am not a pro member. I tried this in two different browsers on my macbook and PC. I have cleared the browser cache - without success. What is going on? Can someone help me? The Instructabes-Team gives no answer on my e-mails. best regards

I find it very annoying seeing people from 2006 who have done nothing but post one or two comments! Ibles should create a way like if youur inavtive for 2 months, you get a warning e-mail, then boom! good-bye, or they change your username to something like dead_account 1 dead_account 2 dead_account 3 Etc. Etc. Authors of ibles, please reply as to WHY you have not done this, thank you Bartboy ( I would be Bartman, but SOMEBODY took that, and they are one of the people I am talking about! )

Every time I close my browser, I'm logged out of Instructables. Closing all Ibles tabs doesn't do it, but closing the whole browser does, very consistently. Does this on FF5, both XP and Win7, and I haven't changed any settings recently. The ad-filled, restricted, locked-down, freebie version of the site gets annoying when it pops up as my homepage, I think that's going to change...

So just came home from work and checked if I had any new comments...then I saw very low ratings on two of my Instructables...https://www.instructables.com/id/Big-Powerful-Knex-Crossbow/Ratio was about 3.6 when I last checked, now it is 1.62https://www.instructables.com/id/Reaper-Crossbow/Ratio was 3.7 this afternoon, now it is 1.52This does not really make me happy =\Maybe some admin can look into this?

Ok, so I have switched to a different email address than the one I was using when I signed up on Instructables, even changed the email in my account settings to the new one. Yet my Instructables newsletter continues going to the old account. Maybe this is some kind of bug or a part of the system that has some flaw in it, I just dunno.... If you're reading this I hope you are an admin or something of that ilk that can remedy this. ~Peace Be Da Journey Man!!!

I just purchased an annual membership for ~$23 and created an account for this site for the first time about 5 minutes ago. payment process went smoothly, logged in no problem...but when I was trying to personalize my various account settings nothing would save. So, for example, for creating the 5 optional shortcuts...all the dropdown lists worked fine, I made my selections, but when I hit "save settings" I ran into a snag. I'm on my gen 1 iPad...using safari...and as I'm sure you know, the iOS for first gen iPads tops out at 5.0 :( but that still should not make a difference as using safari is not functionally different. when I click "save settings" it gives me the grey highlight for a sec, to acknowledge that it knows I touched it...and the words become underlined in white...and they stay underlined, but nothing else happens. Safari doesn't start thinking, the page gives no indication that it's reloading...but it's not as though the page freezes. If I go click the dropdowns again it works like normal. I refreshed the page a few times, closed safari, opened it again....closer browser window....navigated back to the site from a fresh window...nothing made a difference. I then clicked the tab for email alert settings and I successfully went through and indicated all of my preferences for when I'd like to get email alerts but when it came time to hit "update settings" the same exact thing happened...underlined the text but then nothing else. it's as if hitting the button sends a command to "highlight and underline" but doesn't include a command to do anything else. It's not even like its a broken link....I'm not getting rerouted. i searched the app store because I figured maybe I could download the app & possibly tweak account settings within the app....but I'm actually not able to get the app on this device because it requires iOS6, which obviously is not available to me. If I have to open up a laptop or turn on a computer anytime I want to use my account to the fullest extent, then I'll probably never use it....I don't drag out the computers unless I have work to do, and when I'm working I'm not on the instructables website. the main thing for me is the ability to see all steps for a project on one page. I wasn't even going to create an account until I saw where I could set that as a default preference. unfortunately, as of right now, I can't take advantage of that setting and I'm not interested in looking at projects over multiple pages. feeling a bit like I wasted $23. Please fix ASAP.

Sorry for a new thread, but I was not able (allowed?) to add comments to any of the existing threads. I pushed the buttons but nothing happened. Anyway, here's the deal. I've seen several comments that the original plan to only show "secondary images" to pro accounts has been reversed, and that now all accounts will be able to view all images. I guess that depends on your definition of "view". Currently I can only view thumbnails of ANY images -- I have no idea what you mean by "secondary" images. Even instructables I looked at two days ago now have no large (useful) images. What gives? It's bad enough that I no longer can save the PDFs, but this make the whole site worthless. I'm ready to drop my membership and stop being a fan on facebook, because as of yesterday your posts and emails are spam to me.

I have, so far, published 179 instructables, many of which have been featured, and I have also been lucky enough to win a few contest prizes. This means I have accumulated Pro codes. A lot of Pro codes. To be honest, it would take a genuine medical revolution for me to live long enough to be able to use them all, so I want to spread the joy. But, you have to earn them. All you have to do is post one of four things in the comments: A photo or video of something you made by following one of my instructables. A photo or video of something you made that was (however vaguely) inspired by one of my instructables. A link to an instructable of your own that you are kind of embarrassed about publishing, but can't really bring yourself to delete. A photo of an instructable-related image you have spotted "in the wild" - say, an instructables shirt on a passing stranger, or you meet a dog-owner with their dog's back legs in a home-made wheelchair. The ones I like (and I'm often easily pleased) will be sent a code to unlock a 3 month Pro account. If I'm really impressed, I will send a code for a full year's Pro. This contest is open to absolutely anybody, anywhere, with no deadline (except for the natural deadline of running out of codes), and only one real rule: don't be greedy. If you are already Pro, you can also nominate somebody else to receive the Pro code, or just pass it along to them yourself. Feel free, as well, to share this topic with your friends you wish would join the site. (What does turning Pro actually get you?) A word of warning: if you do not use your code quickly, I may accidentally give the same code to somebody else, and if they use it first, you're kind of stuck...

Just tell me why you deserve it, and if you are convincing enough, you will get it! Just a few things: No one that's already got pro, and You're not eligible if you've posted very little on Instructables. And now, over to you!

I have a pro account but I'm still getting ads on the instructables front page. Is something wrong with my account, is something wrong with the ad, or is instructables slowly beginning to add advertising to pro accounts? The ad appeared in the spot where cool instructables and new contests are usually displayed: In any case, I'm really disappointed. First, admins censor my and cammers' comments on the ikea contest, and now this! Seriously?

So I am changing my email and I found the place to change it under edit profile, but I no longer receive the weekly email of featured Instructables and contests, which sucks because it is one of the few emails I look forward to getting. Is there somewhere to resubscribe to it or something? I have double and triple checked and my account now has my new, correct email listed. Thanks, J.

Damn site, can't get rid of it. It's sending continuously emails. I even changed email in settings but it keeps sending messages. No "Delete account" button not updating settings...what can I do to get off of it? I do not need all these messages any more in my mail.

If you select sign up on the top of the page, then select any of the 3 radio buttons as a payment option then continue to info page. Enter your email, user name password etc... the clcik the next button. The page will not continue and there is an error on page not in the lower left corner. I am on Windows 7 IE 8 Work around: Create a free account and then upgrade

I can't sign into the Instructables Apple iOS app from my iPad, with my account credentials. Each time I click on anything to do with account, login, or settings, it redirects and opens the Instructables site in the browser. After I enter the account info into the browser and log in, I am still not logged into the app. Repeatedly I have tried different methods of connects, but still have this issue. Has anyone else had this issue, found a work-a-round, or knows what the problem is?
