Someone was such a fan of Akira that they recreated Kaneda's bike from the manga and the movie. The bike is actually street legal and I'm looking forward to reports of it tearing it up in Neo Tokyo in vicious street gang battles. Extra bonus points if it manages to create light trails. Link

Miss Monster has been making some amazing sculptures from animal skulls that you have to check out. She wowed us last year with her werewolf costume, winning the Halloween Contest's grand prize, but this sets the bar even higher. bear skull | wolf skullvia BoingBoing

Obviously from what we see today, evolution branched off into two sides, the co2 producers, and the co2 users. Now all animals that walk or swim the earth today breath in oxygen and out co2. It may sound crazy, but have we not even attempted to produce oxygen making creatures. Evolution just didn't really branch off to this kind of creature and it would be very difficult to create. Todays Autotrophs don't produce enough energy for a large animal. Trees and small single cell organisms use tiny amounts of energy, but could a hybrid allotroph, which gets the majority of its energy from eating like a normal cow, but then it also uses co2 and sunlight maybe, and then you can eat it. Just a crazy thought that has always bugged me.

Hi Guys Everyone on this site is so fantastic at making stuff I wondered if one of you might be able to help me to make a Muppets Animal Costume for my friend. I'm thinking of glueing 2 pieces of foam together (will sort of look like Stewie family guys head) as the base then cutting a hole out for the mouth. Ping pong balls for the eyes and some fake fur. I'm going to use a black mesh/netting for the inside of the mouth so you can't see my friend inside the costume/ What do you think? Anyone got any ideas that would work better? If anyone could do an instrucauble for this I will be your bestest friend. Thanks everyone PS: The party is at the end of November, so I guess I should be making it already!

I'm brand new to this site and hope some one can help me. I am making a fabric covered starfish that will be stuffed with a polyester fiberfill. I am wanting to animate it in that I wish the arms to move in some manner. I'm not fussy about what direction or even how much; I just want it to have the appearance of being alive. I also want to have two small lights for eyes; if they could blink, that would be cool, but if not that's fine also. I don't know a thing about what I need and live in a small town, so my resources here are little if none. Hobby store websites have been no help. I just need someone to give me some ideas of what I need and how to run wires or whatever into the arms to make them move. Of course, I'm looking for this to be battery operated. Something I can turn on and walk away from. I can adjust the size of the starfish to accomodate the equipment I need, but don't want it to be too big. I guess I want it to be as compact as possible. I saw the wonderful hand that someone built and it said that it could be done using servos(which I have no clue what they are), but that sure got my interest as the fingers moved much like I would like the arms of the starfish to move. So can someone give me some suggestions or head my in the right direction? Thanks so much!

I have an anime figurine made by alter. She is a Azusa Nakano with a cool guitar. A very cute figurine I must say.Anyway uh, she took a little tumble and her guitar got slightly damaged, specifically the tuning knobs up top did, four were lost and one was damaged a little. So I am trying to figure out how to make new knobs, how doable is this? They are roughly 1.6ish mm in diameter pearly white discs that have slightly sloped edges, so they are circles but rounded on the corners instead of perfectly flat. Oh and they are super thin.there is a little stick attached to the disc which connects to the guitar. So in short I am trying to figure out how to make little white plastic lollipops. I can paint some parts if I have to, or use a little metal if it is safe. Any suggestions? Sorry for bothering you all. I am a noob, i know, and I bow to your greatnesses. :P? Oh the included picture is her with her guitar intact. It is one someone else took, not of my figurine but rather the same make, so I am not claiming credit for the awesome photography, but what I am looking to make are the white things up top. I ordered a set of jewelers drill bits and some steel wire which I think might help out a lot. Also my dad is a model railroader and I was thinking his skills may help me where I fall short. Anyways thanks in advance.

I have a character that I use for everything named Dark Surge, and a part of his backstory is that he's 35 developmentally (literally, he's 40,000,001), but he looks like an adolescent. I'm not sure how I can make him older. Any tips? Thank you! (These are his two side views; I am animating him, and so the two views are used as separate characters for simplicity.)

In a combat RPG game; What do you want to play as, who do you want to play as? I am making a board card game and i am asking you, what do you want to be? Examples: Goku, a turtle, volibear, a dire wolf, a swordsman etc... Game must be funny. So choose entertaining characters. I prefer tanky, melee characters bcause they are brute.

I stumbled on this site with all kinds of cool physics animations a few minutes ago. It has all sorts of animations illustrating physics concepts, from wave behavior to vectors to fluid mechanics to magnetism. It looks pretty cool. Some of the animations are more like just articles, and some are true animations. Requires flash to run.

I was considering using an animated gif from one of my Instructables as an avatar but then thought it might be annoying. What do you guys think? Is there a policy on the avatars? Gif below. Feel free to tell me that people who use animated avatars should go drink castor oil. ;)

If anyone is looking for an advanced cool project, here it is: Acoustic Levitation. Scientists at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xian have used sound waves to levitate small creatures while they are still alive, without causing them any apparent harm.

I want a picture of a man in white kneeling and a man in a black suit with a sword putting the sword on the kneeling man's head. I would prefer this to be in a manga kinda style, but any style will be ok. It doesn't matter how long it takes, but sooner is better.

Recently I've been wanting to watch One Piece, since I heard that FUNimation had begun dubbing it. Apparently this had happened about a year ago, but since I had stopped watching it on Cartoon Network, I didn't know till I saw an episode with different voices. It was great! A lot of stuff was cut out in the 4kids dub, and the voices were downright awful. Especially sanji's retarded voiceAnyway, the FUNimation dub is really more loyal to the original, and featured a lot of things 4kids left out, like blood, dialogue, or even entire arcs! They cut out one part about a whale and a lighthouse, which at the time didn't seem like much more than filler, but as it turns out, was the background story for a new friggin crew member! So basically, 4kids had completely ruined continuity. The FUNimation dubs on CN was the best thing that ever happened! Yup! All 15 episodes it ran. CN canceled it for no friggin reason, even though the FUNimation dub was quickly gaining much higher ratings than the 4kids one.The main reason I am angry, is that I can't watch the GOOD version o One Piece on tv, because CN is stupid. And I can't watch it on the internet, because FUNimation is too copyright...y... And the DVDs are quite expensive. I can't watch 4kids version now, knowing all the stuff that's missing. All the wounds that should be there. All the facts that have been ignored. All the 9 year old voices on 20 year old men. All the serious themes dumbed down for stupid 8 year with their fingers up their noses! (okay, so my finger is in my nose now, but that's not the point!Basically, this is a rant. Anyway, if anyone likes One Piece, please discuss how idiotic and retarted 4kids is, and how you hope they get ****ed in the *** with an iron stick hard from multiple angles for making a great series just udder ****!

While watching some Japanese cartoons on TV, I always noticed that some symbols appear on the head of the characters. Sometimes a sweat drop appears when they are aggravated or embarrassed. Sometimes I have seen what looks like crosses, periods and other symbols and shapes. Since I am not familiar with Japanese culture, can someone explain me what these symbols mean? Thank you.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!I downloaded a bunch of stk. files to use with Pivot Stickfigure Animator. Some of them required version 3, I have version 2.Anyway, when I click on the file, Windows ask me to choose an installation package, even though Pivot is already installed, and I can import stks with the program. I basically have to go to the program each time I want to see a file. What's going on?!!!

Hi, i living in Bosnia and Herzegowina in Southeast Europe (probably you heared for that country if you are living in USA, Barrack Obama loves us!). I live in city usually (not my house), but on holidays in my village (something like mountain). I readed a lot off books at home about animals, and i love animals. I like to watch them, play with them, take photo of them...) and because i am living in village with my old parents both more than 60 years :P and my brother I cant play with anyone expect animals. My brother is lazy and just plays some games like CS and Tetris on laptop and doesn't like experiments and animals. I am 16 years old. I have seen lot off animals in my mini forest at my property and at forest near my property lot off animals like: birds, bats, frogs, bugs and i rarely i have seen: rabbit, wolf, wild pig, squirrel... So how to attract and catch any animal easy with 100% success without buying any trap expect buying something really cheap under 3$ or using something found in forest? (BUT SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT MY FATHER WONT RECOGNIZE TRAP, I WANT TO CATCH ANY ANIMAL EXPECT BUGS, SPIDERS, FROGS).AT LEAST A BIRD EVEN IN WINTER HOW TO CATCH? I DONT WANT THE TRAP SEEN BY MY FATHER NOT BIGGER THAN BALL. I WILL NOT HURT BIRDS BUT JUST WANT TO PICTURE WITH THEM AND I WILL RLEASE IT AFTER SOME PLAYING AND TAKING A PICTURE. SO IF YOU DONT KNOW ANSWER DONT SAY ANY COMPLIMENTS!!!

While browsing earlier I came across this gorgeous collection of animals made from electronic parts which features, among others, an owl, a deer, a horse, a flamingo, and a theropod (my guess is T. Rex, but who am I to say?). Gears become joints, springs become necks, wires become hair, chips become feet. The attention to detail and overall construction is incredible. I wish I could track down the creator, but I haven't been able to find out who made them or when. Anyone? EDIT: the author is Ann P. Smith. Thanks, Andib!Link via Arts design blog

For my photography class we have to create a stop motion project. I decided to use a white board to do my stop motion animation. So, I need a tripod or something to hold the camera steady above the white board. My camera is going to be my phone (don't have my own digital camera). I was going to try to make something out of K'NEX probably cause they're easy to work with and I've seen some people make tripods out of them. But does anyone have a design for such a tripod already? It doesn't have to be made out of K'NEX, it could be anything, I just have K'NEX ready to use. So, any suggestions?

Hi everybody! I've developed a a CSS3 inspired, keyframe based color animation library for controlling RGB leds with Arduino. It basically allows you to program custom RGB light patterns by specifying a duration and what color to display in a specific percentage of that duration, without caring about transitions between the colors. I've put a small demo video here https://vimeo.com/79962595 and the library comes with quite a lot of examples. I'd love to hear any suggestion and comments about it! Didn't actually do it for christmas... but I guess it can come in handy these days :) It's here on github https://github.com/fabricacode/arduinoLightAnimation Cheers!

To many cosplayers, the most important thing is not how they look, but the manufacture of cosplay costumes. Generally there are four ways to get the cosplay costumes: get it from the local store, make it by yourself, and find a tailor to make it as your size or order it from the internet. 1 get it from the local store. In Japan, you can get the right costume you want, for the anime cosplay is developed from Japan. Some of the Japan local store even has the officially recognized. Some of the store is not officially recognized but has the same quality that you get from the official one. As for most of the countries of the world, there is not even a store specializing in cosplay costumes. So if you or friends travel to Japan, you can ask them to bring a costume along with his trip. 2 DIY Actually the greatest pleasure to cosplay is made you own costumes and props. Of course, if you really want to make it by yourself, you must be a tailor, what’s more there should be a sewing machine at home. Generally speaking, a person who made costumes needs one month to finish the costume making, from materials selection, the style design and also the props. During this period you should not only go into the techniques and tools, but also the mental concentration. We surely enjoy the fun of making a costume, but to some one it is not a easy thing to do. 3 Make-to-measures. Tailor-made is surely a good choice if you do not have a sewing machine or you do not have that much time. Remember when you ask a tailor to made you own costume, you should make sure that he had made it before and he know what cosplay is, for the cosplay is not so popular in some place. Made to measure is the best way to get the right size for you, but some time the tailor could not make the right one in you mind. What’s more, the material is too many and expensive to choose. 4 Order it from the internet With the development of the internet, there are more and more on line shops. They get the products directly from the factory and sell it to the costumers, really in good type and quality. You really could save lots of money and enjoy yourself. Such as the China wholesale company. There are many t on-line foreign trade companies like milanoo.com cosplaymagic.com, mooncostumes.com. They get the costumes directly from the factory and sell it to the foreign customers. What we should get into mind is that they have the professional tailor and the costumes are really in a low price and fine quality. Sometime they will have a promotion and you can the cheap cosplay costumes. In fact, it really cost lots money for a really costume, especially from the franchise house. If you had some one made it for you, you surely can save lots of money but most of the time you can not get the one you like, surely there are seldom tailor could make the cosplay costume. So order from the internet maybe is the best way.

I am wanting to make a stop motion animation kiosk for kids to make short animations. I'd like it to have a simple design using a mac mini, buttons for shooting frames of an animation, playing the animation and deleting the animation. ideally this would email the animation to an email address. Where would I start? Thank you.

Hey you sword gurus of I'ble. I have a question, is it appropriate to cover your bokken's handle ( gripping it ) with coverings like tape, cloth or something like that? I mean I saw this on an anime called shaman king, where a character named ryu covers his bokken handle in cloth to have a better grip. I tried doing that, and it works. Now, what I am asking is that is this allowed? I mean will you get scolded at by your sensei or something in aikido or kendo practice for doing that? because people very rarely give their bokken a grip job, so would it kill the ' traditional ' wooden sword look? thanks in advance. P.S: I just finished making a nice, homemade bokken, so expect a bokken I'ble from me anytime soon!

I've been using Corel R.A.V.E for simple animations. I am an amateur at it, but I got simple creations out of it. But I wonder if there are other types of animation creators out there. I would like to see from the Instructables community some animations they made too. Post them here for everyone to see!
