Bottle Cap Beads

Ok....  I have literally exhausted every avenue I can.  All I can find are already done bottle cap beads and their finished jewelry.  NO WHERE have I found the instructions on how to actually make the beads themselves.  I need help.  This is driving me INSANE!  Basically you take to bottle caps(and MAYBE you round em out with a ball peen hammer)  Then you weld? glue? them together and drill holes thru them.  I have hundreds and hundreds of bottle caps for this project.  All I need are the instructions to do this project.  I am begging anyone out there who knows of, or has made these please, please...  Write me here, communicate with me telepathically....  Something..  Anything!  I am begging my fellow Instructians for assistance! Thank you in advance!! Johana P.S.  I am posting a picture of what the finished things look like.  Some have the wavy edges and some don't   I don't care if they have one of the other.  I just need to make these guys!!

Hi all,I'm already beading ahead for Halloween and also just completed this 3D Beaded Halloween Witch Charm Tutorial to share.I made this witch charm last Halloween but just managed to find time to draw out the tutorial now.I have hung it on my phone, bag and pouch as a charm. It is basicly created with the right angle weave beading technique but combines a little knowledge on jewelry making as you will need to know how to curl eyepins to put the piece together. Here's the free tutorial link: http://beadjewelrymaking.com/2009/project/september.htmlSee more of my Halloween creations at: http://www.beadjewelrymaking.com/halloween_specials.htmlThanks for looking!

Beaded 3D Kitten Cat Charm with tutorial!

Hi all, I just made these cute little beaded kitten cats few weeks ago and the good news is I also just completed the free tutorial for it at: http://beadjewelrymaking.com/2009/project/july.html to share with those who is interested to make one or a few for yourself.I used the smallest beads I have which is size 11/0 and one size smaller for the tiny paws, so the little cats are each standing at only 1 cm tall, they are so tiny that I'm thinking of making a kitten charm bracelet with some of them.I used typically the right angle weave technique but usually more than four beads weaves.I used various color combinations to make eight of them, each of different colors, here's more colors of my litter of beaded kitten cats: http://www.beadjewelrymaking.com/2009/beaded_cat.htmlThanks for looking!

learning to create pictures with seed beads

I want to learn to create art using seed beads and I don't know where to begin.  By art, I mean actual pictures that you would hang on your walls like you may have seen done with m&ms or jelly beans lol.  I hope someone can lead me in the right direction.  I don't know if you use fabric or tear away paper or what, I just know I want to learn to do it.  Thank you, Alison

Sanding/polishing porcelain beads in a tumbler

I'm looking to tumble porcelain bisque (not the final firing, still soft enough to sand off impefections), and polish the final fired porcelain beads in a tumbler. See attached photos of a final fired porcelain bead for the scale. I'm wondering if you know what media, burnishing compound etc I should be using, and for how long.. I already have a 3lb capacity Lortone Tumbler with stainless steel shot currently for polishing metal. But I believe this tumbler also does rocks.

Project: bead printer

Hey everyone! My name is Michael and I have a project I'm working on: a fuse beads automatic "printer". After I got my mechanical eng. degree I was looking for a project to prove to myself it was worth it. I guess being a maker was my secret ambition, and I felt I needed some project to be proud of.  While babysitting my little cousins and doing some works with Perler beads, I thought to myself: hey! this is cool- I should try making something bigger! and so, as my works grew larger, I began to wonder- can I make it automatic?   What are fuse beads?  These are small beads made from plastic that come in various colors, and can melt under a regular home iron. Its a kids toy- you place a pattern on a mat, iron it- and get cool results. google it!   What is it supposed to do?  The idea is simple: place individual beads of various colors on a mat full of small spikes according to a pattern. sounds simple, doesn't it? I think its good to first look at a 2 color (black-white) simple scheme and try to print it on a small part of the board. Once the mechanical part is finished, the real programming will start.   Some numbers:  The beads are about 5[mm] in diameter and in height. A typical board is 30X30 spikes. A piece could usually contains 2-10 main colors.   !!STOP!!! Before you read my concept, I would like to know- how would you try to make this project? I have had this idea in my mind for over a year now, and I'm looking for new ideas.   The concept so far: As I've mentioned, its been a long journey already. I am far from having a working prototype and am open to suggestions. The "printer" I designed is similar to a CNC machine: a tube has 15 beads in it. The tube is moved above the board, placing the beads. Refill will be done manually since I wish to prove the mechanics first. I made the printer with Lego and an NXT controller and engines, simply because I had it at home. I tried making a 2 axis motion using a rack and gear (with transmission), moving a tube with beads in it. To my dread, the beads do not like falling off when placed on top of one another (in the tube), so I used a third engine, converting the rotary motion into linear one, applying a small force over the tube to prevent the beads from falling, moving them to the next position, than letting go. I discovered the engines are not as accurate as I would have wanted, and the results are meh. I will add some pictures at a later time as I need to re-assemble it.     Thanks a lot for reading, and I hope we can make this dream come true- lets have some fun!

Making new bench seat

I need to remake the rear bench seat for my boat. The old one is about 100lbs and I would like something a little lighter. I can make a new frame with aluminum, but I am stuck with what to replace the cushions with. Whatever foam they are using is super heavy as well. Is there some way to remake the seat with styrofoam beads beads or something and still maintain form? I considered making a cheap gel seat using a thinned out mixture of silicone, but that wouldn't be any lighter than the original bench and would likely be heavier, actually. I think foam beads would work pretty slick.

Are you allowed to add links into your instructables? I run a small etsy store (selling beads and things) and am writing an entry for the jewelry making comp. I was wondering if it ok to put a link to my store after the last step?

My biggest childhood crisis!!!

That reminds me one time I got a bead stuck up my nose it was up so far you couldn't feel it if you stuck your finger as far up as you could. that night I went to a hospital and it took 4 nurses to hold me down while they stuck small vacuums up my nose. ( I was actually over powering the nurses and I was only 7 years old.) I could see blood going up the vacuums tubes.... all failed that night so I want home and went to bed. the next morning my mom took me to a eyes nose and ears doctor ad he just numbed my nose with a little dropper and suck a piece of curved metal up there (I still screamed a lot but I tried not too move) and hooked it around the bead and he pulled it right out. one try. it felt so weird with that thing up my nose. on the way home my mom took me to toys 'R' us and bought me two lego sets. I was like "oh yeah"!!!!

need low- tech medication taken/counting device, multiple strands , like a ranger klic bead counter

I have tried many of the sync programs including telephone call in reqall syncing with evernote. i may have to give that i try again, but there are times i don't have my phone /itouch within arms reach, I also have had problems where the syncing in evernote seems off and i need to keep a better count of pain meds,One is an extremely powerful very fast acting buccal tablet.. 5 to 15 minutes for breakthrough pain. Due to the change in pain daily and sometimes extreme breakthrough pain, my cognitive mind is shot and i am still trying y best to keep my daily count accurate, and counting helps me try and lower it by changing my activities. My ability to focus and write has gone downhill.. i have one med i may take 3 times a day at 10mg, or many times try and break it up to more frequent times but same dose, rather than 10mg(2 tabs) at one time i may take 5 and 3 hours later take the other 5 mg, i do this to avoid the side effects of the other meds, so i don't get as sleepy ,lethargic, i have another med i take usually 4 times a day, but sometimes 6 times and difference lucky 3 times.. so i need a 3 to 6 string. Another med i take usually 3 times sometimes 4, and may also break them in half it avoid the sleepiness,, that would be a 3 to 5 beads. i also have another that i may take 1 a day or 8 a day, that is the one that ruins my memory, so lately only taken before sleep, since 30 minutes after taken it , i will forget, and have done things like put the bottle in different places or turned it upside down, but doesn't help wherein i am out. Needless to say mu cognitive mind is very bad. i have plenty of leather and different beads so i have the supplies. i cant figure out how to do it, and since i have million things to do, 2 years behind schedule with a lot of medical procedures that take hours to do. plus need to figure out how to modify equipment so it works better for me. I cant focus on how to make this simple Aztec/Inca counter . I know it is simple, which kills me to ask, but i hate waking up dead. Which has almost happened too many times., i have to get ready for doctors so excuse any grammar errors please. thanks in advance , i lose my pens and papers all the time so that method became unreliable. i figure beads that i can snap on my belt loop would be the best fix.. A bead counter for one strand and i should be able to figure out the rest. i hope

Soldering sterling silver jump rings

Hello. I started working with metals, stones and beads in the summer. I think I am ready to solder as I am tired of some pieces falling apart. I make large jump rings and need to solder them. I saw the instruction on soldering on this website and bought all the tools today. I suppose I am a bit nervous about working with a flame. Could anyone share their experiences when they started to solder? Thanks. Tracey

wall water fountain

I would like to make a fountain that about 2 ft wide and would be almost ceiling height. I saw one on a web site for over 36,0000. which I could never afford in my lifetime if I want to continue to eat. It looks like it is raining behind a glass or clear plastic wall. I have seen them with glass bead inbeded into something and then water washes over them. How would I do something like this ? Thank you Karen

PDF downloaded but no instructions included

Hi Has anyone had any problems downloading the following instructable: https://www.instructables.com/id/Beaded-Round-Mug-Rugs-Coasters/?download=pdf I recently took on a pro membership specifically to receive the instructions for this project, but when I downloaded the PDF there were no instructions given at all. It only showed the table of contents, the images, the comments and related instructables etc, but doesn't actually tell you how to make the coasters.  I've contacted the services team, so hopefully they'll be able to fix the problem, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this before.  Thanks!

please I need help with a PROPER wiring diagram for my project

Hello everyone,  its great to see a site like this exists, I am still picking my jaw up off the floor with some of what i would consider genius minds making some pretty cool stuff. well let me give you guys and gals a little info about my project, I am making a 250 watt aquarium light for my fish tank after walking into the fish store and getting price shock from the ones that had in stock.  I will be using several wavelengths rated at 350ma per 10 watt LED bead and I have 12 forward voltage per LED bead. My question is I want to use an old computer supply to power the light as I would like to stay within budget as best as possible and the chance to tinker with other electronics would be awesome for someone like me.  I am familiar with the proper way to wire up LEDs using resistors and the correct order to connect them. My only question is I want to avoid a series of LED only because I hear if one goes out the series goes out, but then I heard about a by-pass method to battle that. The other reason why I want to use a series and parallel is because I don't want to drill a million holes in my heat sink, rather I would want them all to meet at one end and join them together and insert into the female plug that the computer supply 12v line will plug into (after a little modding of course to the computer supply to carry this plug) also if I am going with 12FV led beads would using 25 of them in series and parallel be less efficient than if I got 32-36 forward V led beads??? or does that potential ultimately lay within the wiring of the entire aquarium light? I don't want to loose any potential of these LED which i realize is quite easy to do if everything isn't exactly right as far as resistor choices go etc. I would like to add a temp fail safe shut off in the wiring of the panel but am unsure where to exactly place that. If someone wouldn't mind taking the time to show the the proper wire diagram and be able to walk me through the wire diagram maybe via skype, I would truly appreciate that very much as its a huge passion of mine to learn but I am not in the position to be able to go to school because I have a disease that wont allow me to really leave the house. but I am wondering if there is anyone out there that can help me with my little hobby and project as I would like to use the knowledge learned in future projects and tinker around with some more electronics around the house. it would also be something nice to do when i'm home bored all the time. have a great day I look forward to meeting my fellow instructables. I am here to learn!!
