Who would a god be without believers?

You could also ask "What would a god be without believers?" (because not all gods are human-like). Lots off people all over the world believe in one or more gods. But what if (and I say if because it isn't very likely) all human beings on this planet would stop believing in there god (or gods)? What or who would a god than be? Would a god than be a funny drawing on a wall or just some guy in a book? Perhaps the new neighbours, the mailman or the birds in your garden were ones your god, until  you stopped believing.  Think, philosophies and give your opinion about this question! I'm curious who or what a god would be without believers according to you.

I can hardly believe my luck....

or should I say the lack there of?  I sat down this morning (at about 7 am, because I couldn't sleep) and went to start writing up the ible for the gift exchange....since I am ready to ship. As luck would have it, and as things seem to be going with this project) when I went for my photographs, they were no longer on the camera, and so I had to spend 3 hours looking for them - "someone" downloaded them off the camera and had them auto delete :-(  Anyways, I found some of them...but will have to take a bunch more on the last steps as I write up the ible. Delays,  delays.....

Million Dollar Idea - Believe it or not. its happening.

This is the first time I have ever posted anything about my idea. If this idea is created as I envision it, I wont have to work another job in my entire life. Currently, I am an IT Technician at Texas A&M.; After much consideration, I am quitting my job and devoting everything I have to getting this created. Currency is not an issue, finding the right people to assist me is. I am unable to create this myself as it is very complex, in my eyes anyways. I would be willing to invest large sums of $ to get this underway.. Anyways, I am scared to disclose the details of my idea without having whomever I tell sign an NDA. So, the reason for this post is, I dont know what to do to get this developed!! Hoping someone can give me general advice to get this going. I understand everyone thinks they have a million dollar idea, lucky for me, mine actually is. Seriously...  Any input is appreciated and will be remembered..

4 Reasons why we believe in Conspiracy theories

Did NASA really land on the moon?Did the government cover-up involvement in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks? Is Elvis still alive and kicking? What about Michael Jackson? Was John F. Kennedy assassinated at the hands of multiple shooters?Do the Freemasons control the United States?A small but fervent group of people believe there was more than included in historical record about the aforementioned events. Conspiracies, they call them. And every generation has its own. Some of them turn about to be true, after all: Pearl Harbor was a Japanese conspiracy and Nixon’s Watergate break-in was a coverup. But with so few that turn out to be true, why do people believe in conspiracies?HERE is the link to the Rest of the story. And one final note:so, NOW we know who was on the grassy knoll and shot JFK LOL It was JFK himself !!!

Austin schoolteacher who didn't believe Linux existed

From linuxlock:A teacher in Austin who threatened to report a local free-Linux-machines charity to the police because "there's no such thing as free software" and they had therefore deceived the student she caught distributing Linux disks in class. The teacher sent an email to the blog, which sparked this whole incident. The teacher's initial email: (Thanks, gmoon!)After confiscating the disks I called a confrence with the student and that is how I came to discover you and your organization. Mr. Starks, I am sure you strongly believe in what you are doing but I cannot either support your efforts or allow them to happen in my classroom. At this point, I am not sure what you are doing is legal. No software is free and spreading that misconception is harmful. These children look up to adults for guidance and discipline. I will research this as time allows and I want to assure you, if you are doing anything illegal, I will pursue charges as the law allows. Mr. Starks, I along with many others tried Linux during college and I assure you, the claims you make are grossly over-stated and hinge on falsehoods. I admire your attempts in getting computers in the hands of disadvantaged people but putting linux on these machines is holding our kids back. This is a world where Windows runs on virtually every computer and putting on a carnival show for an operating system is not helping these children at all. I am sure if you contacted Microsoft, they would be more than happy to supply you with copies of an older verison of Windows and that way, your computers would actually be of service to those receiving them...Original Article which started the situationNew Article that clears things up

I believe someone misuses instructables.com for his own agenda

Hi, i believe there is someone using instructables.com for some kind of SEO scam. I believe it goes like this:- Post a mediocre/repeating guide- Add links to different websites, for example to www.american-home-loan.net as seen in https://www.instructables.com/id/How_to_Convert_AVI_WMV_RM_VOB_to_iPod_PSP_Cell_/- Have a highly valued site (instructables.com) link to cheap sites- ???- ProfitI believe the ??? would eventually be remove the guide and point to some site that seels some crap. This is called a SEO scam if i remember correctly. So far i have catched 5 different usernames using that scheme (i believe the same person is behind all of them):https://www.instructables.com/member/byrdcarlyle/https://www.instructables.com/member/disraedole/https://www.instructables.com/member/arlenegeorge/https://www.instructables.com/member/gilmergraham/https://www.instructables.com/member/aliceanton36/Check out the guides, they are basically all the same with a link in the first part at least repeated twice. It all points to the same server and even CMS, however, different hostnames are used.I would like to hear a second opinion.

Can you identify this tool? I believe it is used on firearms.

This tool came in a box of firearm items, however we have been unable to identify what it is or what it would be used for. The overall length is 2 7/8 inches, largest diameter is 3/4 inch, smaller diameter is 7/16 inch, has a 3/16 slot on one end and two 1/8 inch pins in the larger end, pins are 1/2 inch apart. There are two holes cross drilled in the smaller diameter, they are each 3/16 diameter and are 15/16 inch apart. The metal is blued same as a firearm would be. There are no identification markings on this tool.

Does anyone believe the world is coming to an end on Dec 21, 2012? Answered

Now that it's 2012, you can't help but here all those dooms day discussions about the Mayan Calendar and the end of the world on December 21, 2012. For the record I don't believe the world is going to end just because the Mayan's said so.  I mean really? There isn't too many Mayan's left nowadays... why couldn't they figure out their own demise? Ironic, isn't it? What do all of you think? BTW: The best argument "For or Against" will get best answer credit. :D

Do You Believe in Fate? Read what my weekend was like

It is somewhat long, but an incredibly interesting story of what happened to me this weekend. After what I went through this weekend, my view of fate took a 180 degree turn. Some background information, I have two dogs, a few gates around my house that need to be closed to make sure my dogs stay in our yard. It starts out when I arrived home from school. My bus drops me off at the end of my driveway, and as my brother and I walk up, our mom is there with our main gate open, which usually is not. I saw her up there and knew it wasn't good. She tells me Toby is gone. Toby escaped through a back gate with my other dog Casper. My neighbor picked up Casper, but Toby was no where to be found. We pretty much scoured every single road in the area, so we knew he wasn't hit. We also told everyone we saw to keep and eye out, and asked them if they seen Toby. ~The oil company came to our house while my mom was out and about. They left our back gate open. When the dogs escaped, she went to our basement to see the oil tank, and it was full. She knew the oil people came, and they fill it through the back of our house, where our back gate is. 4 years ago, the same oil company cut our Invisible Fence Wire, and tried to tie it back together, so it worked off and on.(Which we found out later). The dog named Buddy escaped and got hit by a car. So we get the invisible fence man out here and he sees that the oil company cut our wire. ~Oil people, if you are reading this, close the gates please. ~So as you see, the oil company killed one of our dogs already, so I was fuming when I found out it was their fault again. We were planning on going to the mountains that night, so my dad, brother, and sister, and I went up with Casper, while my mom stayed at home to see if anyone would call about Toby or Toby would return home. On Saturday, we got a call from our mom saying that Toby was dropped off at an animal shelter, and she picked him up. We were ecstatic, and the rest of our day was awesome. That night, we went to bed early because none of us slept Friday night, because we were thinking about Toby. ~Thats only the half of it. Recap: Dogs escape, 1 dog found Friday, other Found at shelter Saturday, we are in mountains with Casper, and go to sleep Saturday night. I wake up Sunday morning at 5, to my brother turning the light on, and he walked out of the room. I thought, well this is weird, so I turned it off and rolled back over. My brother walked back in, and turned the light on. He told me Casper isn't moving. (In the mountains th dog sleeps with us in the bed.) I look at Casper, not moving at all. Casper is deaf, so sometimes he is always sound sleeper, but always wakes up when you touch him. I look at his face, and his eyes are in the back of his head. My brother gets my dad, my dad (doctor) tries CPR. It was too late. Casper passed away. He showed no symptoms, no struggle ( my brother didn't choke him), dandy as could be the night before, it was unbelievable. What Luck? So I am not religious what so ever, and don;t really believe in much religious stuff. But I felt that because we got Toby back, Casper had to pass away. It is so weird that the dog we thought was gone in the beginning, came back to us, while the one we had no inclination of every passing away, well, passed away. So we thought Toby was gone, got him back, and in the mountains, the one we had, died. Recap: Dogs escape, 1 found Friday, Other Picked up at shelter saturday, Casper up to the mountains, 2nd dog at home, Sunday morning Casper dies in his sleep. This weekend pretty much was the most stressful, and worst of my life. I am grateful for the man who brought Toby to the shelter, but I guess because we got Toby back, God felt it was Casper's time to go. I do not know what I'd do if we lost 2 dogs in a span of 48 hours. Thanks for reading all of this, I had to get it down. It is unbelievable. I am thinking of posting up an instructable on how to increase your chances of finding a lost dog.

Less then 2 yr old flat screen - has died....I believe...

My 17" Gateway flatscreen went blank this morning while I was at meeting. My wife claims she didn't do anything.....that it was blank when she saw it. It was not in sleep mode, nor was a screen saver on. I noticed the "power button" which is normally green (power up, with computer signal) or amber (powered up w/out signal), would not come on. I attempted to see if any of the adjustments on the side might have been bumped, no effect. I tested to make sure there was power from the surge protector (switched power outlets after a shut down) to no avail. After my 4th reboot, I subbed in my old monster sized 17" CRT tube monitor, and it works fine. Resolution is different, but it works.....but that pushed the monitor about 2 feet closer to my nose then I would like (it is about 10 inches from my face. )Did I miss anything as far as testing the monitor before replacing it? I personally think the PSU in the monitor went on the fritz, but I am open to suggestions. EDIT: The old CRT is now back ni it's storage area, and the newest LCD screen is up and running.

Why do people believe that a cat bringing a headless mouse into the house is a gift to the owner ? Answered

Swords and Souls

I was wondering how many people believe in swords having souls. I am a huge fan of Bleach, which refers to the Zanpakuto as being spirit beings, and I was reading a forum post somewhere that swords have personalities outside of their wielder's skill and the naming of a sword was based on the sword's personality. So, from this, I have chosen to believe that swords have souls and that one can communicate with their sword. So does anyone agree?

Why isn't my burning laser focused? Answered

I recently bought a 5.6 mm, 300 mw, 650 nm laser diode and a corresponding driver. Anyways, I got a 3.2 VDC output from the driver and connected it to the laser diode. However, the light looks more like a flashlight, and isn't focused at all. I read up on it and I believe that the problem is that it needs a laser housing. Is this correct?

CFL power factor and how to correct? Answered

I have installed solar pv on my house and using a killawatt meter I have been checking the power factor and they are pretty bad .7.  Residential metering dont charge for power factor but when the solar pv is operating I believe the losses are coming from the pv power generated. Does anyone know of a CFL with a good power factor? I have heard that the power factor for the CFL's could be corrected with a .50 cent part. I believe that would be a capacitor but what size and how could you add it?   ?
