Last night we added a new "Games" category, and brought back (and made better!) the random sorting. When we first added categories, the theory was to add new categories as they emerged. I'd say that games has pretty clearly emerged. There are great Instructables focused on video games, video game cabinets, homemade game consules, board games, card games, magic tricks, dice games, how to cheat at games, and lots of other ways to have fun. Explore the games category, and have fun. If you come across an Instructable that should be included in games, but we missed adding to the category, leave a note here.A great way to see if there are any we missed adding to games, or just to explore the site in general, is the revived sort by random. It's new every time you click it in the Explore pull-down menu, or click "Spin the Bottle" on the explore pages. I bet you'll find something cool you've never seen before. As always, let us know what you think.

I saw an electronic banking edition of the monopoly board game in the shop and was pretty impressed by it. But its too expensive to purchase and i already have a normal version of the monopoly board game and also the electronic banking unit alone is not available for purchase. After thinking for sometime i came up with the idea of making a software for mobile phone that will act as a monopoly banking device. But I don't know programming. Can anyone here help me in making such a software? I don't think that will involve much work. All the software need to do is allow the user to select the number of players from 2-6 and assign each of them a custom start balance and then allow them to transfer money between each other and also pay fines to the bank. I hope someone is ready to help me. I am just sharing an idea/thought that will help many others like me who play the monopoly board game.

Just had an idea for simple to play but complex to build battleship game. If i had the money and resources to build it myself i would. So i just thought i would share the idea and see if anyone else is interested in making it. Basically the target and ship fields will be made from a large pin board for LEDs to plug into. The Ship field of one player will be wired to the target field of the other player. So when an LED is plugged into the target field and there is an LED plugged into the same spot on the opposing player's ship field the target LED completes the circuit lighting both LEDs indicating a hit. No need to call out coordinates and can be a good game for the hearing impaired. The LEDs for the ship can be placed onto sets of header pins. It would take allot of LEDS to make but would be an interesting game. 234 total LEDs are needed 34 of which will be used to create the ships. each player get 100 LEDs for shots (less then 100 are actually needed to complete a game. peg board could be made from old IDE female headers. Board should be marked with line indicating negative side of the connections. Negative side of LEDs should be visibly marked to help the user determine the right way to plug them in.

Does anyone know a super simple game console hook-up? I don't really know much about circuit boards, and electronics, but I'd like to learn. What I mean by simple is: a power supply plug for it, AV cable plugin, an on/off switch, controller ports, and game cartridge port. To be specific, I'd like to be able to build a smaller, simpler version of a Sega Genesis, or N64, or whatever. --- Thanks!!

I have an old version of Labyrinth, one of the German versions published in 1994. I bought it at a thrift shop a while ago for $1and recently went back through to find that it has two of the cardboard labyrinth/pathways missing and one or two of the card pieces are missing. I have a scanner, so I could reasonably make computer images to print. The cards are similar to playing cards, maybe a little thinner. I could easily print out the missing cards on cardstock and use modgepodge to seal them, but I'm worried that the homemade ones would give them away, as each player gets a stack of the cards (which have "treasures" they have to collect on the board) and whoever ends up with the homemade ones might be dealt an unfair advantage. Any ideas? The cards are the biggest issue; the cardboard pieces really just need to be the right size. They don't have to be secret. Any help would be great!

I have searched the Internet hard for a reasonably priced electronic numeric display board to no avail. I am interested in constructing a remote control scoreboard for volleyball similar to basketball scoreboards deployed in high schools. For many years I have played and continue to play a LOT of drop in volleyball at various local Rec Centers. It would be great to be able to keep track of the score with a remote control device in your pocket while playing the game. Alternatively please let me know of any high schools being torn down which could be an opportunity to save a basketball scoreboard that would otherwise be relegated to a land fill site. When you think about the utility of such a device, why hasn't this project been done before? Maybe it has and if you have any info then PLEASE forward. I would seriously entertain any posted price for such a completed device if it exists as the hero factor is huge. The advantage of building it yourself is that you are in a position to manufacture duplicates for others and you become the repair man. The bigger the display board, the better. I know they exist but are mostly cost prohibitive. At this point I am prepared to start with a small display for the prototype in order to get this project started since I am very enthused.

Hi, i want to connect a normal - nicely looking wooden chess board - to my pc to play chess against the computer but instead of staring at the monitor, i rather want to look at my "analog" chess board, move on the board and let the computer "tell" me the next move (ie i don't have to sit next to the monitor when i play). i have been searching the web up and down and so far, havent found a single web page where somebody describes of how to do that; all i find is 500 dollar electronic chess boards .... since great chess programs exist for the pc, there is no need to write my own, i just want to read out the positions on the chess board - either through a web cam and some recognition software, or more hardware oriented with sensors on the board...... i really don't have a clue how to approach this problem in practice - any advice would be appreciated. regards, charline

Looking for people who are interested in helping out on the electrical engineering side and/or set design of a installation game. Various people in the industry (theme parks and video games) should stop by during the exhibition and credit will be provided. On the electrical side it would be helping out with networking of Arduino boards to run each "gag" and be linked into a show control. On the set design side - help with the set design of the piece, lighting, and construction. The installation will take 3 players and have them "break into" a vault with various high tech security (lasers, pressure sensors, computers needing to be hacked, etc). Other examples of this type of work would be "The Tomb" and "Operation Spy" by 5wits, La Fuga by Negone (in Spain), interactive haunted houses, and theme park attractions. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks!

There is a board game called "Pie Face" that uses a randomized trigger to release a hand that has whipped cream on it- which splats into your face. So the trigger cant be so strong that it breaks your nose, but fast enough to hit ones face before their reflexes dodge it. I would love to get my hands on one of these to figure out how the mechanism works, but the game is unreasonably expensive. Anybody have any ideas?
Question by bracmanf 3 years ago | last reply 3 years ago
I am working on a game last 7 years. I need coders for making this game. I will just give you game idea, you will do the job and you will gain the money. I am played all of games and watching game videos everyday. So game designing is my job, you just read my idea. This game will be a turn based strategy, MMO, open world, crafting, starving, pvp, pve, dungeon blah blah game. I cant make this game as a board game bcause it is too complex and requires calculations. So it cant be funny as a board game bcause causes headache. This game has an unique combat system and strange classes and races like turtle, rhino, ninja, runner, mantis...... So you can play as everything. Some characters can fly, swim, run; depends on what you are playing as. Every turn everybody moves at same time. After that everybody attacks to each other at same time. And cycle repeats. You can order to your character "be that much near to target" and it always tries to be that much near to enemy. Server does this calculation automaticly. Lets see what i designed: CYBER Cyber is a robot looks like human but its made all of steel. So its metalic gray colored. Its dark. It is a serial killer. Hates everything, even itself. He is male but he have no gender. His strongest attack is COMET CANNON. Causes a explosion which will kill the target and damage the who arounds it. Cyber can kill its friends while shooting stuff. ZERO POINT is stronger than Comet Cannon and if you shoot it you will lose all of your HP so this spell consumes HP; its deals same damage to everyone in explosion and this spell always deals damage but enemies will divide damage with their FLE so enemies with high FLE will take less damage. After Zero Point; damaged tiles will damage to who stay on them with heat. GATLING GUN spell deals damage with bullets. Damage will be increased every turn but its MP cost will also increase. You cant move while shooting with Gatling Gun. Also nothing will miss you while you using this spell but %100 of your FLE will become DMG. And your movespeed will become your HIT but only half of it. Also while using this noisy spells your hiding will decrease so enemies can see you from even more faraway. Cyber uses bullets and rockets while using its spells and it gets out of ammo. Ammo will refill 10 turns after an empty turn(nothing attacks you and you attack to nothing). Gatling Gun deals area damage so you can shoot many targets at same time. PAILDRAMON GUNS: If you still didnt mention all of Cyber spells are stolen from digimon and gunslinger of Ragnarök online so this skill is same. So he takes rifles from inside of his calfs and shoot the enemy. You cant use this spell if you moved this turn so you cant move. You can shoot the target until miss it so this spell can be used again after you used it if it hits target. It has more hit than Gatling Gun and it can only shoot 1 target. TWIN STINGERS: you shoot 2 stingers from your nipples. Its a divided attack but stingers must be locked to same target. If they miss target, next turn they will try to hit it again. Enemy can attack to stingers for destroying them but stingers have 0 HP and %500 of your FLE also you must destroy stingers 1 by 1. ROCKET RAIN: using this spell causes you to use all of your ammo. You release all of your firepower as mini stingers. They will randomly attack every enemy they can reach. Missed stingers will hit each other and get destroyed. This attack have high HIT but low DMG. ROCKET STRIKE: you shoot a giant rocket from your arm. Its most basic attack of cyber but it costs too much MP and ammo and have low HIT, but still great for dealing damage to 1 enemy and killing full damage build noobies. PUNCH CANNON: cyber can longer his arms for punching enemy. Really stupid but requires no ammo; also it is ranged. JET BLOW: cyber flies really fast by using his jets and punches enemy from its belly. Bcause of he is so badass, blood comes out from enemy’s body. This spell gets used for reaching enemy and starts melee fight. PUNCH: you punch the enemy. If you dont miss, you can punch next turn. You can only punch three times in a combo, so after that Punch goes cooldown. Bcause of his Punches reducing targets FLE for next turn and dealing massive damage and also dealing damage to targets MP; its Punches consumes too much MP. If you can Punch enemy 3 times after each other; 3rd punch will make enemy unable to move. ENERGY SHIELD: the robot creates an energy field like every mechs doing in Sci-Fi movies so why not? When enemy attacks you it will hit your MP with multiplied by %150 damage. If you turn off your shield you will lose all of your MP and MPR, HPR for next turn and you will gain +%50 HIT, +%50 FLE. The turn after that turn your MP will comeback so you can use your spells again. Also shield will turn off when you reach 0 MP. Than next 2 turns you cant turn on your shield. LIGHTNING JOLT: if you use this spell after turning off Energy Shield you will deal +%50 more damage. And your unexist mana can be consumed for this skill. You shoot lightning which one deals damage to all enemies. If there is less enemy it will deal more damage. This lightning will firstly damage enemy’s FLE for next turn and if it can make FLE 0, than will deal damage HP. LIGHTNING CHARGE: It can only destroy both players MP when it used turn after when Energy Shield turned off manually. You rush to the enemy and punch it. Punch throws enemy to back based on your base speed. If you use same spell after shield off, it will not push enemy but will destroy enemy’s MP by destroying your MP. When one of you reach 0 MP, that event ends. This spell also will deal damage. METAL FORM: you already made of metal but you still want to go in metal form. Metal form is a buff will affect you for next many turns. That buff increases your AMR. Its just that. Increases your AMR for many turns. WASTE: when you die, your remaining ammo will deal damage to enemies in range. All of enemies will take random amount of damage but total damage is always same. BURST SHOOT: you shoot the target with a flamming bullet. Its just that. ARM CANNON: You shoot something unkown but also this attack always missing. When it hits, it deals too much damage for its mana cost. It may hit another random target. Sometimes it causes an explosion and hits many targets. RAINBOW CANNON: you shoot your strongest cannon three times for shooting targets. If three of them hit, it is better than Comet but mostly 1 of them miss. Base values of Cyber(elements will be added when game ends): 3 DMG 1 HIT 0,5 FLE 3 AMR 15 HP 0,5 HPR 10 MP 1 MPR What elements Cyber use? Melee(MLE), Ranged(RNG), MAGnetic, EXPlosive, BuLLet, PLAsma BLoW, WAVe, WiND, HOT, FiRE Sense’s of Cyber: %100 SEE %200 hEAR %200 HEaT %200 MAGnetic Cyber cant fly or swim, bcause of that he has 4 times more attack range than his movement. Also machines are really great ranged units. But Cyber have no ability for escaping. Cyber’s hiding values are: %50 SML %50 MAG %50 HET %0 EAR %150 SEE %200 IDE %200 SUL Cyber is good for killing low FLE and high AMR and low speed units. Cyber is strong against high DMG units.

I took one of my old laser guns apart a little while ago, but I'm not very tech-savvy. I took these pictures (very sorry about the bad exposure, blur, and quantity, I'm a bit tired) to see if any of y'all could help me. All I know right now is: There are two circuit boards (one from the gun, one from the vest that you shoot) The cone-shaped black thing is the IR diode There is a receptor on the vest for the IR (no duh, right?) There are quite a few resistors and capacitors There are quite a few switches and push-button ignitions (used for starting games) There is a speaker Things I would like to know: Is the speaker perhaps of any quality, say, for amplifying songs? What are those semi-circle shaped black things, under them on the circuit board it says something along the lines of Q3? The capacitors say 10v on them. (One even says 25v on it.) Does that mean it handles 10v? What is the best way to remove the solder from the wires and board so I can usify (my own word) the parts? What is the yellow box-shaped object on the smaller circuit board (you can see it in the fourth. sixteenth, and last picture)? What is the circular metallic object on the larger board (seen best on the twelfth picture)? Thanks for all and any help!

Looking to make a simple LED scoreboard for scoring "Bags" games (Cornhole). All i Need is 2 rows of 21 LEDS on each side of a vertical board with the bottom denoting scoring "1" and the top as "21". And I'd like to have some sort of momentary button to press that would move the circuit from 1 to 21 one increment at a time (moving up, turning on the next as the last one turns off). I could just put switches on each led but I am trying to avoid that. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks PS , if all the lights stay on until i get to the top and then able to reset it, that would be fine too, Just trying to eleviate the use of multiple toggle switches.

I'm in need of a couple dozen battery powered "throwie" styled (read: super simple) UV light emitting LED's for a board game prototype. The devices (12 total) will be built into simple chipboard player pieces on a stand. I'd like the entire piece (including the chipboard and stand) to be no larger that 1" x 2" x 1", but here is the catch! Each piece will start with 3 pegs placed in the stand (a la the classic board game "Life") that keep the light on as long as there is at least 1 peg in. Don't know if this would mean they are pressing a button or completing the circuit, but whichever is safest is ideal! I also need a 2nd version that will operate with a simple on/off switch or button that can be housed in a small piece of foam core board (.25" thick, approx. 2"x 2" piece). I need 12 of these as well. Concept sketch attached, but more detailed information will be provided upon inquiry. I would need them to be completed and delivered by Friday, June 8th, 2012. Thanks in advance for your help (whoever the helpful soul may be!)!

I'm dying to play it with my frnds as it is the best ever. But im unable to decide on some aspects of the game. Like what to use for the cards and how to make the skyscrapers, houses, hotels, train depots and cab stands. I can buy them but other than the standard monopoly, no one is sold in our country. (I am Indian :P). So i was thinking if anyone can make an instructable on how to make these with the other basic things it will be very nice. It will sum up to a very good instructable as no such other is available on this site. Plz comment its link if you do so. Thnxx in advance.

I'm not interested in modifying them, only pulling the values. I know various keyboards can do things similar to this, but I havent had any luck finding a specific model or resource to tell me how it works. Anyone have any ideas or resources?
