Bolt actions, and mine

I've noticed there are alot of "bolt action knex gun"'s, and it really ticks me off when I click to see that they're simple ram pull, please, don't call them bolt actions. Also, still got my semi auto, made a very close to true bolt action (the breech doesn't open when the bolt is pulled back) its my 2nd bolt action, also, once I've posted my Semi auto V4 and my Bolt Action v2, I'll make a single shot, (or mag fed if I'm lucky) that when the bolt is pulled back it exposes a breech to put one or two bullets in, this will be shellfed, so you can't exactly shout about the singleshot. Thankyou for reading this, Yerjoking

Airsoft Bolt Action?

I was wondering on how to make a bolt action for an homemade airsoft gun. Im open to any suggestions

Question by JuriusV 6 years ago

True bolt action sniper

Ok so i got fed up of people saying that they're guns are bolt action when they arent. so i got this idea that an actual bolt action mechanism would have some sort of carrier that would pull the ram back and then return to the forward position. so what do people think?

My Bolt-Action Mech

Pretty much all of this morning for me was spent designing a real, true, bolt-action mechanism. I had my dad help me by telling me how bolt-action guns work. I doubt I'll add a magazine to this for shells, but if I can, I will. Anyways, here's some pictures. Video explaining concept and everything coming around 6 PM tonight CDT (GMT -6) So in about 6 hours.

Knex bolt action mechanisms?

Could anyone post a link to a bolt action mechanism or gun that doesn't require too many pieces. I have already tried the zkar v2 and the ar-4 but I didn't have enough pieces. I do not have any ball socket pieces and I only have one hinge pair. The ar-4 required too many tan locks. I also do not want to break any pieces. If there is not anything which can help me please post a link to an instructables of good, powerful gun that does not require many pieces, preferably a rifle. Thanks

Concept for Pump + Bolt Action

I had this idea for awhile. Basically you combine the pumping action of a pump and the loading action of a bolt action to get something with a high RoF and high power without needing a turret. The idea is quite simple really. My idea is to have a bolt loading pin attached to a pump that contains the magazine. when you pull the magazine back far enough it will load a round into the chamber. When you move the pump back the bolt pin will push the piece of ammo forward with it. Anyone feel up to making something like this?

R5, Bolt Action Carbine

Hey guys! After the "rebuff" I received from ZakS and FlyingFish10 (and more kind comments from TheDunkis and Raz1r Knex Bull3t) about how my K'NEX Gun: Declaration (R2) looked just like a ZKAR (to which I disagreed), I decided to rebuild and heavily edit my K'NEX gun Declaration (R2), changing the body and mechanisms so heavily that the comparison between it and the ZKAR would be virtually non-existent. After about three days of hard work, I have finally come up with this gun, the R5. With a brand new trigger mechanism and bullet transfer system, this gun is ENTIRELY different from any other bolt action gun you will find. While the bolt itself is heavily similar to the ZKAR / Zaktangle, almost everything else is entirely unrecognizable (except the magazine, that's a pretty standard yellow rod magazine). Features: Brand new trigger mechanism Brand new bullet transfer system Heavily edited (and improved) pin guide setup Comfortable stock Very reliable New magazine setup, with magazine breach Comfortable grip Flip-up back sight Great range: 50 - 70 ft. Preloadable magazine Internal magazine pusher 12 rd. magazine (could be increased) This version is by no means finished, but when I do finish it, I'll be sure to post a full set of instructions. Check out the image notes for more info. Tell me what you guys think I should change or add to this gun. I'd love to hear your comments. Quick Tip: When you have a magazine that is full of rounds try and make the last round different in some way, so that when you shoot the gun you know when the magazine is empty. This will prevent you from shooting the magazine pusher, and make it so that you don't have to keep track of how many rounds you've shot. -The Red Book of Westmarch

DM-15 bolt action sniper

Well, all the great K'nex gunners have snipers(besides oodalumps , but his semi-auto makes up for that :-) ), so I thought i would make one. its nothing really new, nothing innovative. Just that it has a bolt to pull back the ram, that allows for rapid fire. It's could be as powerful as the other snipers but i can't put to much power because i have to pull the ram back with one hand(i am wimpy so you guys will have more power). it has a 9 round mag that could be extended if you wanted. Has a block trigger hooked up to a true trigger. The front is just a make barrel. Bipod folds up and hooks onto the front of the fake barrel. i am sorry that the bolt is hard to see in the gun, it on the right side. only the left side is shown in the first two pics. its in the third pic but is kind of hard to see. it works by having a "door" in the side of the barrel for the bold to travel in and out of. the bolt need tape because the orange connectors would come off instead of pulling back the ram(the ram is the same from the pack sniper). it has just your basic scope on it, nothing to new on that part. yea, i think thats it. instructions are being made.

Vice CKG Bolt Action Rifle

I haven't posted anything for a few months, and I decided to begin work on something that would blow everyone away.  My goal was to create the most efficient, most power, most versatile mag fed knex rifle ever.  I discovered a way to do that when I came up with the Bullet Transfer System (BTS) that you saw in my BTPA pump action rifle.  However, the BTPA had a several drawbacks.  The first was the size of it.  It was just way too big.  Second was that the ammo it shot was connector ammo, and would start spinning out very quickly.  Last was that the ram barely had any time to accelerate,  as the bullet was placed right above the handle.  I suddenly thought of a design that would solve these problems, quickly drew them out, and began work.  The result was the most efficient, versatile, and powerful mag fed gun ever made, the Vice CKG.  CKG stands for Compact Knex Gun, and I am truly proud if it.  The trigger is a variation of Zak's so I give him credit for that.  So exactly how efficient is this gun?  I was able to get 60+ feet with a string of two #64s with the long range round.  The yellow rods get around 50 feet, only because they spin out after a while, but with two #64s unsharpened yellows can go right through a box from a few feet away.  What's the secret to this incredible efficiency?  First off, the firing pin is a grey rod+a gray connector long, giving it that extra room to accelerate.  Second, the trigger is as far back as possible.  Third, the rods are placed as far away from the ram, giving it time to accelerate.  Finally, the BTS allows the bullet to stay in place with nearly no contact between the bullet and the gun.   THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL, EFFICIENT, AND VERSATILE MAG FED GUN OUT THERE. (I know that statement may sound a little bold, but I am very confident in saying it) Pros 60+ feet range single shot with two #64s 50 feet range with yellows with two #64s Extremely versatile (perfect for long and close range) Looks great 15 yellow rod mag capacity You will dominate the battlefield Cons Reload time (for me anyways)   This video is a little out of date, I have made some upgrades since it was made/

S2 Bolt Action Pistol Review

When joined Ibles, I knew that I didn't have any guns ready to upload, so, I decided to post some reviews, being that I already had some  guns built. The S2 pistol by  Sharir1701 seemed to be a logical choice, so I grabbed some blue rods did a little bit of testing. Please realize that even though I have just joined the site, I have a wide range of experience with knex guns, such as the ZKAR, TR8, Racker Rifle, and many of Red Book of Westmarch's replicas. In this review I am not going to do the ratings on a scale of one to ten, because Knex guns differ so much. Say you have a gun that shoots 70 feet. You give it a eight out of ten, because that is great range. However, the SRV3 shoots 500 feet, so 70 feet is NOT eight out of ten any more. Due to that, a truly honest review would rate even very nice guns quite low, due to the fact something will probably is better. If you don't understand this, that is OK, because I do, and I am the one writing the review. Also note that this one has Sharir's pin guide holder thingy. Anyway, let's jump right into the review! RANGE:  Frankly, this gun does not live up to Sharir's claim of 100+ feet. I only got 65-70 angled using two size 117 bands, which is still great range for any gun. Sharir says that it will only get that range with three bands. Sometime ago, I used 3 and did not 100 feet. I don't remember what exactly I got with three, but I am sure it didn't get past 75-80 feet. RELIABILITY: This is one of the gun's good points. Knex bolt actions don't have a great reputation for being reliable, but the S2 works nice and smooth. When I decided to review the pistol, I thought it would be nice to test the reliability and give ya'll the numbers. Here they are. I put the gun through two hundred rounds, and it had: 3 failures to fire, 4 failures to load, the pin guide broke twice, the bolt broke once, and the chambering rod popped out of the bolt twice. Now this sounds REALLY bad. However, the pin guide issues, the chambering rod issues and the failures to load were my fault.  The pin guide and chambering rods broke when I was jerking the bolt back too vigorously, and the rounds that wouldn't load were because I was manually  chambering the round, instead of having a return band chamber it. after I added the band, no trouble. ROF: Now this is one part I didn't really test. It charges slower then a ZKAR, but faster then most pin guns. It is good enough for most uses in a Knex war. COMFORT: Pretty comfortable. The handle is quite good, and I think it would be even better for someone with larger hands then mine. The problem is that there is not really a good place for your other hand to go except for the magazine, which doesn't make the best handle. To be truthful, it is kinda awkward to hold. It is too big for a pistol, but doesn't have a stock like a rifle. (Ok, you COULD use the pin guide holder as a stock, but it doesn't work that well) CUT PARTS: The gun is fine when it comes to these. There are several recommend, but you only need one cut gray rod for the chambering rod. ALL IN ALL: This is an awesome gun. not too many pieces,  looks kinda cool, and is fairly accurate. The ammo is blue rods, and i have a couple hundred of those, so it works great for me. Range seems about right, and it is very fun to shoot. In a war it would do pretty good, but the ammo is hard to find in the grass. The mag is a bit small, holding around 13 rods due to the mag pusher taking up quite a bit of space in the mag. This, a TR8, and a ZKAR would make a fine war arsenal.

Why is a bullpup style knex gun less powerfull then a normal bullet-trigger-pin gun? Answered

All the bullpup guns i made were very weak and someone told me it was because of the magazine was behind the trigger. is this true and if it is, why?

Barackuda Internals

Alright, I grabbed some more internals for the latest version of the Barackuda. I can't believe it's already been over a year since the last time I updated my status update thread. It's sad that nothing much goes on here, but I'll still maintain activity as long as I have ideas. I bought a home in the summer and have since been doing adulty things but I've been looking for more hobbies, so I'm still interested in doing a K'nex gun building guide series for newbies. I otherwise haven't built much. But anyway. For those that don't know, which I imagine are few, the Barackuda (portmanteau of Barack as in Barack Obama and barracuda) is basically a compact bolt action repeater with a small, removable drum magazine. I believe this is the first time a magazine like this has been successfully implemented on a weapon. I spent years figuring out the design and trying to perfect it, never quite satisfied, but I really need to just throw it out there. I'll get full instructions eventually. Hopefully these will do for now. Sorry if some of the pictures ended up sideways. I was using my phone and rushing. Let me know if you'd like any other pictures.

Bolt Action Mech for a Knex Bullpup Gun.

This is an idea that I have had for a while now, it allows a bullpip gun to have a full black rod pin but with a more realistic design. the idea is using a shotened bolt that moves right back then pushes the ammo into the chamber. I'll see if I can get a pic up of what I mean

M200 Sniper Rifle (With *REAL* Bolt Action!)

This is my new sniper rifle. It has real bolt action, but does not shoot. When you actuate the bolt, it loads the shell. When you pull back, it ejects and loads the next. The mag is for show, but there is a 5 round internal mag. If anyone would care to mod it to shoot, I would be thankful. Should I post anyway though?

I made this true bolt action that works like the real one . instead of using gravity to put the bullet in the chamber , mine uses a ramp . Another thing new about this is the magazine is easy to remove , just press the button behind the magazine , just like the AKs , and remove the magazine .

Bolt Action Rotary Magazine Gun (updated with internals)

Alright, it's been a while, forgive me. I work in spurts of an hour or two every few nights. It's not quite finished, but it's at a point I'm comfortable showing. I'm also working with BM, so hopefully he can make some improvements on it before it's posted. This gun is the combination of two different goals I've had. First off, I always wanted to make a bolt action. I came up with the idea for the modern bolt action long ago but was beaten to the punch. So since then, as others have made their own bolt actions, I still struggled to make one up to my own standards. I wanted something sleek and compact with a removable magazine. Second, I went off on a little tangent while building, which then turned into its own project: a rotary magazine. While it's been done before, I don't know if it was ever successfully used in a gun. It's more about the novelty than the practicality, but what it does do is give you more storage in a compact design and act as a decent foregrip. I wanted to make it a decently usable. At first I thought of making just some cruddy gun to show off the concept as a usable magazine, but then I decided I may as well go the full nine yards and make it perform well. So this is what I ended up with. I don't have a real name for it yet, but I've considered calling it the Barackuda, a portmanteau of Barack (Obama) and barracuda because...well why not. I wanted to keep it as compact as possible, so I used a barrel similar to my Oodassault 3 series and a stock connection similar to my PDR. The stock is a bit long compared to the body of the gun, so it may look awkward, but I wanted to give at least enough room to aim the gun without sticking the pin into your eye. The blue connectors in the stock stop the bolt right after the trigger engages. The bolt is somewhat typical. I like how it sits flush with the back of the gun rather than looking like an extension on the back of it. The handle isn't amazing, just a variation of my tried and true handle I've come to like. The trigger also isn't amazing, and in hindsight, I want to block a bit further back still, but it works for the limited space I've got. The magazine on the other hand is magical. Go look at my last topic for details on its operation. This version is for yellow rods. I've added a rotary lock and band. When the middle rod is pushed toward the trigger (like in the pic), it's locked. It can securely contain 10 usable yellow rods while locked, though it can load up to 12, the top 2 can fall out. You insert it into the gun by pressing the top two red rods at an angle into gaps in the grey connectors at the front, then rotate the magazine, slightly pushing in, until you get the white rod in the gaps of the yellow connector. Finally, you push in the middle red rod by the trigger all the way forward to unlock the magazine. Edit (9/10/2015): Made my adjustments and now I'm mostly satisfied with the weapon. Here's the video.

New K'nex ideas and a request.

'Sup people, K'nex.X here, I got something to ask you, does anyone has any ideas for a new K'nex gun? I've practically ran dry and I'd love to have something new to work on. Don't come showing me pictures of models, I'm talking about real innovation like bolt action, lever action and/or semi auto's with a potential range over 30 feet. Next, I got an idea. What if we stop focussing on making models, replicating them as best as we can with the limited forms of k'nex pieces? We could focus on real innovation, the world needs about a 100 more Oblivitus and Kinetic's. Just check it out. Even though most have given up hopes, there are still loads of ideas to improve, perform or make. Take a look at thedunkis' forum topics, Oblivitus' concepts I'ble and Kinetic's mechs. For example, I'm now working on a bullpup, bolt action, horizontal magazine gun. Concepts are far more challenging than replicas. Just try it out for yourself.  Another thing, the veterans left. So stop making a 1001 forum topics about where everybody is, they have left. Mepain, DJRadio, Oodalumps, Zak, Shadowninja31, Coolbas, Killer-safecracker, IamCanadian, KILLERK. They all left. stop complaining, instead of whining, go out there and design something new! The red book of westmarch, Senior waffleman, Drrichtofen and all the awesome new(er) guys. You are the future of K'nex guns! Yours sincerely, Knex.X

BTPA-7

This is my newest project-the BTPA-7.  BTPA stands for bullet transfer pump action.  This gun brings out the new year of innovation, as it is my most innovative and successful gun yet.  It is a bolt action gun, making for superior efficiency, combined with a pump, making for a high ROF.  Unlike other bolt action guns, however, this gun uses a pusher to transfer the bullet to the firing chamber, and also unique to other bolt action guns, the bullet stays there until it is fired, no matter how you shake or tilt it.  Right now I have most of it done, but do not have the pieces for the ram guide, which is crucial to making the gun fire successfully, keeping the ram in tact as it is pulled back.   Here is a video of the bullet transfer system: And here is a video of the gun with the pump (I also removed some pieces that were getting in the way of the trigger so now it works perfectly) Let me know what you think.

Bolt Action, Removable Magazine Slingshot Sniper rifle ( L96 )

Help me guys. Im planning on making a L96 sniper rifle, however the main features have never been on the same gun before. This features are slingshot, bolt action and magazine fed. The idea i had was you pull the rubberband back onto the trigger mech ( maybe something like on Jollex's Dash gun ) then use the bolt to push the bullet from the magazine ( preferably removable ) up in front of the trigger. This means that it would be a repeating slingshot with no friction from the magazine. The main problem would be the bullet staying in front of the trigger but im sure it could be solved. If anyone wants to collaborate your more than welcome :-) Bhuty

What i've been up to: the bolt action, bullpup, tube mag, pump action, dual shot, sling repeater. Got your attention yet?

Ok, for those of you who had seen my shotgun design, you could probably tell it was over before it had even started.  I had tried 5 different layouts and I couldn't get past the frontmost barrel without running into problems.  I think it was a cool design, but it was just too much for K'nex. Most of my best get designs just pop into my head at the most random times.  Is it just me, or does this happen to other people too?  Anyways I was trying to make it until the bell in pre-cal (my teacher is a crazy cat woman who enjoys talking about her imaginary husband) and I just started drawing this design.  Not only did it kill 10 minutes but it may just be the best thing I've come up with in terms of K'nex. The magazine looking thing in front of the handle is actually the driving mechanism in this gun.  Shots are housed in the stock pressing up against the pusher.  When the pump is pulled, the pusher moves down, allowing two bullets (one shot) into the chamber.  When the pump is released, the pusher pushes the bullets up against an upper section, where they wait for the trigger so be pulled, releasing the ratchet and the rubber band, launching the two bullets with a decent (I hope) spread.   Even though it doesn't shoot yet it is fun to just load the ammo (thats just how cool this gun it).  It is probably going to be a little different than what is shown in the video by the time I post it, but right now I'm just going with what I have.  I hope you like it and please let me know of any improvements you can come up with. -Kinetic

Detailed Lego Gun Instructions

Hello everyone, I have recently created a lego bolt action, magazine fed, streaty121 type gun that i will be more than willing to share with all of you who also want to build a lego gun. The reason the instructions are not already up, is the long recording process of showing how to build the gun, so I first wanted to make sure that people were going to view the instructable before I went through all the process. The gun is fairly simple, easy to use, and doesnt require many "special" parts. If anyone is interested in instructions for the gun, please either private message me, or comment on the topic saying that you would like instructions. Thank you :)

AR-4 Commando v3-NOW POSTED

Posted!Do you think this gun makes the AR-4 v2 look like a noob's toy? plz answer! This is a new bolt-action knex assault rifle I made. It shoots Yellow rods. This gun is the first bolt action to my knowledge that doesnt use modded part. For those of you who dont think it is true bolt action, to shoot the gun, you have to pull the ram/bolt back, then push the bolt back while leaving the ram pulled back.STATS-Bolt-action-True trigger-includes bipod (foldable)-tight looks-includes scope-6 round hopper-30-40 foot range (one rubberband doubled up)-Safety (new)EDIT- I have put tape on the part of the bolt that pulls the firing pin back, and it gets an increased range. the tape straightens the parts that hold the bolt, decreasing friction. This started out as one of my failed projects, I made it before the jackal and showed it to ajleece and some others. The original one had a bottom loading removable mag, shot blue rods 5 feet. I took it apart to make my jackal, and then I got the idea to make it a true bolt action.I was not trying to compete with the ZKAR, I was just trying to make my AR-4 v3 work. Here is a video of me firing it on youtube:

I have 4 guns, which one should I create an instructable for?

Alright, I'm not new to knex guns, I've been making them for a good 2 years. However, I AM new to making instructables for my own guns. Now, I have a list of 4 guns I have made, let me describe them so the community can choose which one I should make: 1. It is TRUELY semi automatic, I have designed it to be easy to use, and easy going on the fingers. Many semi automatic guns can be a pain to constantly push around the trigger, but not this one. It has a hidden magazine that holds 3 green rods. Now, since it is a semi automatic pistol it doesnt shoot as far as other single action guns. 2. SBAR : A Standard Bolt Action Rifle that holds 6 blue rods. It is an extremely sturdy and reliable, the magazine almost never jams. WITH the detachable barell it shoots about 30 feert, however you can easily get rid of the barrel and have it shoot even further, however I keep the barrel for cosmetics. It is my personal favorite of my creations and I am yet to take it apart for any other gun I see on instructables. 3. Desert Eagle Semi Automatic Pistol This is my most recent gun, I never actually meant for it to look like a desert eagle, however in the middle of construction I realised the resemblance and decided to make it a replica of the desert eagle. It is like my first semi auto pistol, however it holds 5 shots, is MUCH bigger and shoots white rods instead of green rods, which I suspect increases the distance. However if you have small hands (like me) it may feel slightly uncomfortable so I advise building the smaller SSAP above. It has the most resemblance to a desert eagle than all the other pistols I've seen on instructables (Believe me, I searched "Knex Desert Eagle) Remember, this also has a hidden magasine and is semi auto so it doesnt shoot that far compared to other guns. So guys, please respond and ask me to post an instructable for one. I look forward to being a part of the knex weapon community :).

LEGO sniper rifle

This LEGO rifle by Jack Streat at MOCpages.com is pretty awesome. If there was ever any ideal way to shoot LEGO bricks, this would be it. Even the creator is impressed: This is by far the best rifle i have ever made. it is a working magazine-fed rifle in bolt action configuration, with detachable magazines, sniper scope and bi-pod. Check out the video to see it in action and the link below for a lot more pics. Lee Enfield Bolt Action Sniper Rifle via Neatorama
