link the button/pad to the button keyboard?

Hi, I'm a newbie here and I know nothing about how to make my project possible. My project is making a flash games and when it comes to the solution that people have to choose A, B or C people can push the button on the keyboard. But now I want to hide the keyboard and use 3 pads/ or buttons only. So that's mean I have to link 3 buttons from the keyboard that I made to the 3 pads/ buttons. I'm thinking of using 3 switches of the light for the button/pads but I don't think that is a good idea. And I don't even know how to make it become true. I really need your help please. I appreciate any helps from you guys

Multiple contest entries

Several members have expressed concerns about projects being in more than one contest, yet only one contest vote-button appearing at the top of their instructable. I think that we should either... Have a row of button, one for each contest it is entered into (since it's a maximum of three, there's a narrow range of button-sizes that would need creating) Have all the relevant banners appear stacked at the top of the project If that's too cluttered, then maybe all at the end, so votes would be cast by people who had actually gone through the project. Have the required banners changing on a constant cycle.

Arduino Script Issue?

Hey world, I am making device that will automatically water my xmas tree: I am using the basic "button" script from the Arduino IDE examples. the only change I have made so far is instead of using an actual push button I am sticking 2 bare copper wires(the ground has a 10k resistor) into a jar.  When water is added to the jar the connection is made and the LED goes on. The problem is that it only stays on for like 7 seconds. I need it so as long as there is water in the cup the light stays on. any ideas? Below is a copy of the script. Thanks! const int buttonPin = 2;     // the number of the pushbutton pin const int ledPin =  13;      // the number of the LED pin // variables will change: int buttonState = 0;         // variable for reading the pushbutton status void setup() {   // initialize the LED pin as an output:   pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);   // initialize the pushbutton pin as an input:   pinMode(buttonPin, INPUT); } void loop() {   // read the state of the pushbutton value:   buttonState = digitalRead(buttonPin);   // check if the pushbutton is pressed. If it is, the buttonState is HIGH:   if (buttonState == HIGH) {     // turn LED on:     digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH);   } else {     // turn LED off:     digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW);

Toggable MP3 player to play/pause with a electrical input? Answered

I know the title does a poor job of explaining my situation. Basically, what I want to do is make a simple one song MP3 player that will play when it has power, and not when it doesn't. But verses most MP3 players, I would want this to pause when it does not get power, not stop and then restart. I know I need a power source to the MP3 player to keep it's spot in the song when it's paused, but it's critical it has a play/pause function that is dealt with through a power source going to/through it.

We need a "Like" button

I think Instructables is missing a "Like" button.  There are many Instructables I see that I would want to "Like".  I know there is a favorite button, but I only use that to "Tag" the Instructable, so if there is something I wanna learn I can easily go back.    Not everyone wants to favorite a post, due to the fact they might use it for the same purpose I do.  But if we had a like button at least the creator might get more of a response on how many people actually "Liked" the Instructable.

Remote button presser

Hi :) I will try make this short. I´m a taxi driver in Denmark and have a little problem. When a customer calls for a cab I receive it on my screen and press a button to accept it. I have 10 sec to press accept and if i´m not sitting in the car then i take my remote receiver that makes a sound so i can jump in the car and press accept. Most of the time i don´t make it to the car because i only have 10 seconds.  So i could really use a little thing to press the button for me. It could be something that reacts to the sound and clicks the button, or it could be an extra receiver/transmitter that i press manually. The button is almost like pressing a keyboard button and it doesn´t matter if it its pressed without me getting an order.

Physical button to launch a PC application?

So for an upcoming project I need to make a physical button that when pressed launches an application on my PC. I'm going to need to make quite a few of these, each to launch a different app. Ideally it would not be a keystroke from a keyboard, I saw tutorials on dismembering a keyboard and registering a button press to open an app, but I don't want any interferences so I'm looking to avoid that if I can. I'm going for the most cost effective design, not looking to spend much if it can be helped. Any resources or tips would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!

Hacking cell phone buttons

Hey there everyone, I'm trying to hack a cell phone such that I can simulate a button being 'pressed' by some other external switch.  I simply want to wire a lead on either side of the button so that I can essentially short it out (and then set it up so that the call is set up off of other circuit triggers such as 555 timer). If anyone has a recommended type of phone to use for prototyping purposes, I'd love to know.  Otherwise I'm just using a verizon pre-paid phone I picked up from 7-11 (will attach picture shortly)

View all steps button reloads page

Hey guys, in in latest iOS, using the latest feedly news reader, I noticed last week that the view all button just reloads the current page rather than a new page containing all steps.  I.e. If I'm looking at steps 1-3 of 10, view all steps just reloads the 1-3 page.  I am not signed in while using feedly.  When using mobile safari, I am signed in, but it seems to be loading all steps by default.  (Which I love btw) many thanks, steven

Hello all... I am new to this website and I am wondering if any of you can help me out. A buddy of mine is trying to replicate this little gadget that he had purchased some time ago. Since that time, the creator of this little device, has passed away. Therefore, my buddy is unable to purchase anymore of the device. So, I am trying to see how difficult it would be to build it from scratch. It seems to be fairly simple as it only has one function. The device is small enough to fit in a pocket and has a button on the exterior side. When the button is pressed, the device emits a series of short beeps four times. There is about a one second pause between each set of beeps. The beeps sound similar to that of a digital watch alarm or when you leave your car door open with the key in the ignition. Here is the pattern of the beeps... 1. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 2. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 3. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 4. beep-beep-beep-beep I have attached a few images of the device and I am hoping anybody with knowledge, experience, or ideas of an alternate way of replicating this device and it's function will reply ASAP... The beeping will need to be loud enough for other people to hear it when the button is pushed inside a pocket. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas...

Early Halloween Costume Question (Button Costume- What should I call myself?)

I know it's early, but today my friend and I were talking about what we wanted to be for Halloween. Since I bought a very expensive costume last year, I wanted to make a costume this year using what I have. I collect buttons, so I had the idea that I could pin them all over a shirt and a pair of pants. My friend suggested that I use specific types of pins in a theme (ex: political buttons for a political activist, video game and science buttons for a geek/nerd). But, I want to use all of my various types of buttons on one costume. I want my Yankees buttons, Evanescence buttons, political spoof buttons, abstract art buttons, and UAA stop codon buttons all at the same time! What can I say that I am dressed up as (beside a button collector)?

adding remote button to halloween screamer device

Hello! I am pretty new to all this. In fact, this is my first project. down to the dirty part. I have a battery powered screamer toy. It has a light sensor with a toggle switch and a push button that both activate the speaker.  I want to add an external button in place of the internal one located on the circuit board.  I have added a length of wire to the board already.  One end to the contact push button on the board, and the other to the point that connected to the other end of the contact push button. I scraped the copper off between the point where the second wire connected to the contact push button so now the only way they connect is through the added wire and tactile button.  My problem is this.... none of it works now. Not even the light sensor.  Please help!
