I have this circuit from an old $20 camera (pic sucks, I was lazy so I used my scanner lol) anyway it requires a computer to capture video (it only holds pictures without one) Is there a way to capture video from it without a computer on me? I'd love to use it as a "spy" cam.....

So, I was talking about homemade backup cameras for a car. And the question of legality came up. Do they have to be shut off whenever you're in drive, if so, how do the wireless ones that you can buy turn off when you get out of reverse?

Hi all, This is kind of an Outdoors/Tech thread. I work for a nature center and I am developing a watercraft program on our river. To help promote it, I would like to purchase some action cams to mount on canoes and kayaks, and post the videos and images on Facebook and Youtube. I have a $300 budget for these cameras. Ideally, I would like to be able to purchase two cams, including memory and additional accessories (mounts). However, I know that a good quality camera can be pricey, so if absolutely necessary, I will cut this down to one cam. If you are miraculously able to suggest a cam that is priced so that I can buy more than two, I would be amazed and eternally grateful. I do have some requirements: - Waterproof (Preferred camera is waterproof in itself, though an inexpensive case would be fine) - Durable - High Quality Image and video (If the video is shaky, what's the point?) - 2 Hour battery life, though 1-1.5 would be acceptable These are not required though I really would prefer them -View Screen (A lot of these cams have to be plugged into a computer or synced with a smart phone to view. Not great.) - Removable Battery to switch out if one dies. Do you have any recommendations within this price range? Also, what kind of memory would you suggest for about 1-2 hours of footage per camera? Thanks

Well when I was scrolling through the forums I saw the thread "cat cam" i remembering seeing it once but i didn't comment on it. But anyways that would be awesome. But would there be any way to put it on the cat without it weighing them down? W-burg (I called you that because i don't know how to spell your name) I will remove this if you want me to. Also would this be possible?

I've just posted my 1st instructable :) which is a Fish speed trap I've installed in my aquarium. I'm tempted to install a Speed camera as well but that will take some time to figure out lol.The interactive site is called Burp the Frog (for obvious reasons lol)

I have several old USB webcams and it seems the you can get them pretty cheaply now. I would like to hook them up to old school CCTV monitors with coaxial connectors. I don't know if it's possible. I was wondering if I could cut the USB cable off and add a coaxial cable and connector. If so, how. I know I'm going to need a separate power supply but I don't know how many volts, if it should be DC or AC, and where to hook this supply up to.

Hello, i am T.Y. Mech Engg. student. I want to know how software's like PRO/E are made. I mean how do they create the graphics (links of free download available graphics library's would be appreciated). Also how do they connect that(graphics) with their kernel? I know c++ already, which else languages or concepts do i need to know to create such a software? Also i would like to know how FEA is integrated in these software's. Expecting detailed reply's from all the experienced people who have worked on PARASOLID or Granite (PTC) or any other CAD/CAM software!

Hi everyone Just wanted to get some thoughts about instructables using computer aided drawing, computer aided machining. I want to do a series on using CAD to make projects but I find it difficult to make a heap of screen shots and instructions into something that is interesting or "Instructable worthy" (read BORING) . I know videos are good but in many schools videos are blocked and band width problems can make videos a pain in this part of the world. Also unless you have the same software that I'm using the instructable will be of little use to you. So I was thinking I would use free software and have links to download it. Also the instuctables would be about making a real project ,rather than just a tutorial on how to use the software. I personally get a little annoyed with an instructable that is.... step one download stl file step two send to 3d printer step three your done So is there anything else that would make a CAD CAM Instructable something you would want to read? Thanks

Why not use the head motor from a VHS recorder. If the rotational inertia is not enough, perhaps some bolts around the perimeter of the head, the assembly would have some type of handle attached to the camera (bicycle hand grip) the vhs motor attached to the bottom of the handle, battery pack to attach to belt?

I want to build one of these on the cheap.http://gizmodo.com/344069/flashlight-dvr-perfect-for-spiesI was wondering if I could mod a 4GB mini pen spy camcorder usb flash recorder in a flashlight.I would also need to extend the battery life of the camera, because the camera would run out of battery before filling up the memory.I would like it to turn on when I press the on button of the flashlight.I also wonder if I could instead add several of them instead of having to mod the power and have a toggle switch and possible indicator when power goes out.By the way I'll be using an led flashlight

Is it possible to add an A/V input to an old VHS-C camcorder?? I have a helmet-cam but don't have something that I can record to. My digital camcorder doesn't have a/v or d/v input. I could just buy a new camera or dvr but hey, its much more fun trying to hack something old... obviously.

I want to have my web cam mounted at a specific place in my room and control the web cam rotation using the USB interface and some program on my pc. I was thinking of having the web cam to be mounted on a USB rocket launcher sort of thing, but it would be great if i i find an instructable which tells me how to do this using a few stepper motors which i have from my old printers. Specially i would love if a stepper motor control system through USB port is provided.

This is what a gyro cam on a motorcycle looks like, great hey!, but they are currently too expensive for mere mortals to buy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCOt78MB5vM&feature;=player_embedded Ive been asking for help from my local RC club and a close friend who is a plane engineer & flies RC helicopters, all say this cant be done so im coming here for help cos I know Instructables members know how to do it. My Skills - No electronics or RC experience, but I do make lots of engineering parts on my garage mill and lots of stuff from carbonfibre. My Plan - Was to buy a RC helicopter gyro, servo's, gears & linkage etc and build a platform that could rotate a small bullet cam to be level with the horizon. But my RC club says it cant be done, so now I dont know what to try. Can anybody help suggest what bare components I need to start experimenting?

Hi everyone. Ive just finished my little mill, and it works great, its ardunio based running grbl control software. I thought it would be cool to mill PCBs so I downloaded fritzing, designed a PCB and Im now stuck, as I need something to output an NC Gcode to the mill. Fritzing can output a few different formats, pdf, svg, and grber. I have got Vcarve but it doesn’t like fritzings pdfs, I can import grber file into grbl, but the scale is wrong and the trace looks like its full of errors. Can anyone recommend a PCB design package that is compatible with grbl?

I'm looking for an instructable (or help) to set up a portable camera and display. I don't know if this is currently feasible, but I would like to use my iPod Touch as a display for a small, battery operated camera. Wondering if a Bluetooth connection might work. Wondering if a cel phone might work as a remote camera. I want this to help me easily back-up my truck and connect to my trailer. Also to put camera on a stick and put it into walls, attics and crawl spaces in order to see into difficult places. Also to put on some kind of snake and pass into sewer pipes, etc. Is there such thing as a Bluetooth transmitter that would work with a battery and a ccd cam? Thanks in advance

What I would like to see is a mod for one of those little wireless printer port boxes, you know, the ones that you hook up to a USB printer to make it wireless... Anyway, the mod would be to allow it to take a web cam instead of a printer and turn your web cam into a wireless cam that can be placed anywhere. The mod would have to be less expensive than buying the typical wireless cam (~$150.00). Has anyone ever attempted to do this? Would someone like the challenge?? For all us financially limited folks out here, you would be praised and raised to god-like status.... =)
