My Dad bought this bottle along with a small Wild Turkey Bottle it says its Tauicå which upon my research it seems to be a ÈÂÂÂuicÄ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...ÈÂÂÂuicÄ (Romanian pronunciation: [ËÂÂÂtÍ¡sujkÉÂÂÂ]; sometimes spelled tuica, tzuika, tsuika, tsuica, or tzuica) is a traditional Romanian spirit that contains 45%-60% alcohol by volume (usually 52%). It is usually made from fruits. Although all of this information is great but what or who is the character on the top of the bottle that you will see in the photo: this is all I could find on this dude and this maybe wrong: Vlad The Impaler which like the 1st Vampire you can do a search on Google and see that indeed he looks like the dude on top of the bottle. The burning question is HOW MUCH IS THIS WORTH if anything please if someone knows contact me ASAP Thanks Mike

Writing accented characters in an instructable ends up with the questionmark-diamond failed unicode character. So far not a big issue. However, writing accented characters with the &code; construction works, but on a second edit of the same text, uses the actual unicode characters, and thus on a third edit is reverted back down to the ugly diamonds again.

The rich editor 'comment box' and 'Instructables editor' is able to handle international characters, such as: é, ê, ç, ¿, ñ (possibly others), however the "Title this Step" in an Instructable does not reflect the same editing perimeters. Instead, displays "" (displays as black diamond with white question mark). This also happens with the yellow description box overlays. This may be user error, but seems weird that I can see certain text in one field but not another. FF v3.6.12 ?? _mike

Here's something you might find interesting. I enjoy playing Clue, as does my family. A short while ago we bought a new board, and we've been playing with it. Everything was going fine, until something freaky started happening. Almost always Professor Plum did it. We tried shuffling differently, checking the cards, everything. Then we started keeping track. as of now of 15 times played, our favorite Egyptologist did it 11 times. Now that's just freaky. He did it with an array of weapons and locations, but he's been consistently a killer. Anyone know how to excorsise a game piece?

So, I have this annoying problem with Firefox... As I browse the web, opening and closing tabs, I get an accumulation of (Japanese?) characters all over the tabs at the top of the screen. It starts with one or two, but soon builds up to obscure the tabs, so that I can't find the Xs to close tabs, or even switch between them (see the screenshot). The characters occur no matter what websites I do or do not visit. It eventually gets to the point where I have to close the software to get rid of the mess. The problem has persisted through uninstall/reinstall of the browser, and the only add-ons I have running are a dictionary and McAfee site advisor. Yes, I know I could just switch to Chrome, but FF is my favourite browser. Anybody know a cure?

Why are the special characters in my Instructional changing to some form of computer code?
Topic by arcticpenguin 11 years ago | last reply 9 years ago
My instructable has changed. https://www.instructables.com/id/Electronic-Wart-Removal-8211-No-Blood-Little-/ The step title formatting is not what I entered. I typed in the title but when previewed shows only part of the title with the rest of the title within the text body. It also has extra text, strange characters showing in the preview screen. When the whole step is viewed it looks correct. It's in the quick view (cursor over the step) that the problem shows.

The instructables editor keeps eating my plus signs. Example: What is the sum of the first four natural numbers? 1+2+3+4 = 10 Oh? So I guess it works on this editor, but not the editor I'm using to post replies to the Answers forum. I am telling you, that thing devoured my plus signs! The previewed text, and posted text, wound up looking like: 1 2 3 4 = 10 I even tried whatyoucallit, ampersand-escaping the plus sign, using its special secret name of ampersand-pound-4-3-semicolon + and actually that worked... but this kind of seems like a convoluted way to write 2+2. OK. So it is working here, now, but I swear, previously, that damn editor was eating plus signs!

Okay, I am in the process of writing a story. It is an action/adventure story involving zombies. I need to find a place in the US with a high population and is not too too close to water. Any ideas? This will be the initial starting point for the main character.

Try creating an instructable with the text below in the description. When you save it, a JSON parse error pops up. The same exception will pop up each time you go to edit the instructable, preventing you from reaching the edit page or ever deleting it. You apparently need to sanitize your input a bit more. SET count=0 setlocal ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION FOR /f %%a IN ('dir /b *.jpg') DO ( set /a xOffset = !count!*2 set /a xSize = 1098+!count!*6 set /a yOffset = !count!*1 set /a ySize = 732+!count!*4 "C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-6.7.3-Q16\convert.exe" %%a[!xSize!x!ySize!+!xOffset!x+!yOffset!] pan-%%a set /a count=count+1 ) The exact exception is: "There's been a problem updating your Instructable [object Object] parsererror SyntaxError: JSON.parse: bad escaped character"

Instructables currently does not support a lot characters from other languages. If you use a character from another language, instructables simply replaces it with some letters and symbols. Since the only other language I use here is spanish, I can only say this has happened to me when writing in spanish. The problem is, that without these characters (like diacritics and a certain spanish letter), many spanish sentences cannot be properly written, therefore altering its meaning. This problem has made it very difficult to use spanish in the site. Is it possible that the staff can do anything about this? Also, if anyone has experienced this problem in another language, please write it in this thread.

Hi, I broke my instructable: https://www.instructables.com/id/drawing-from-your-mind-some-thoughts-and-ideas/ On Step 12, I entered some foreign characters, experimenting with the editor and broke it. It cannot be viewed or downloaded as PDF. Can someone delete Step 12 for me and I'll re-enter it without the foreign chars? Thank you -J

If I want text in an instructable to include characters that normally cause wiki formating magic to happen, how do I quote them ? For instance, if I want to enclose some text in square brackets:[my text](that was done with "preformatted" text. which changes the font and does a "block" at a time. Not what I want!)(couldn't find this in other pages about wiki formatting, either.)

I uploaded a picture to an unpublished instructable and assigned some text to it. My instructable locked up and spat out this error: There's been a problem updating your Instructable parsererror SyntaxError: JSON.parse: bad control character in string literal Now I can't edit the instructable to fix anything. I have tried deleting the picture from my library, but it will not let me do it unless I remove the picture from the instrructable, which I cannot do. I decided to create a new instructable with the same information, and when I uploaded the picture to the new instructable, the same error came up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use Vista on a desktop and Yahoo for my email and Firefox 9.1 for my browser. When I click on a web page to send the link, for example "https://www.instructables.com/", what it sends is " http%3A%2F%2Fwww.instructables.com%2F&subject; ". I have tried using Hotmail and Internet Explorer browser and have the same problem. I realize something is substituting %3A%2F%2F for ://. This seemed to have started about a year ago maybe when there was an upgrade to Foxfire. I tried everything on the Foxfire help pages and that didn't help. Does anyone know how to correct this.

I am looking for tiny raised characters, somewhere around size 10 font or smaller. It doesn't matter what they are made of, but I need the entire alphabet, preferably multiples of each character . The 'Made In China' text you find on almost anything plastic is the character size I'm in search of. Anyone have any ideas? Label maker characters are too large. I didn't see any rubber stamps with tiny characters at the local craft stores. I don't know if Ponoko can cut characters this small, but I don't think I could get something back from them in time. Thanks!!!

Adding extended UTF-8 characters to Instructables works the first time, but if I edit the page, the editor replaces them all with broken characters instead. I have to manually edit all the characters back before hitting save, or the broken characters are propagated to the web. The characters that I have tried are capital omega (Ω) and the degree sign (°), and I plan to use lower-case mu (μ) in the future. Also, the bug posting form seems to be much more broken in this regard.

I'm putting together a Steampunk outfit, and I need a good way to make a shirt look used. My character is a mechanic, so I want it to look like it's been worn by someone who gets dirty and greasy fairly often, but I don't want it to look nasty and like I should get a new shirt ;) The shirt would basically be a white/grey tank top undershirt. Thank you!

I'm looking for the arrow (or triangle) symbols to put into a batch program. I know the alt # codes, but I want the codes compatible with ANSI. I have the down arrow, but it's an invisible symbol. Anyone know how to get them? (ASCII numbers are 16, 17, 30, and 31) Thanks!

This is a count up race clock that fell due to high winds and has stopped working. It is a springco athletics model 2710A. I have already tried respecting and reconnecting all the non soldered pieces of this display. The main chip on the board is a PIC16F887 with 20 pins. Each display is connected by a single ribbon cable with 20 pins and there are jumpers on each display labeled 1-6(presumably for the character placement in the display). If I cannot find a way to fix the current hardware I would like to replace the control board with an arduino that can do the same thing but I do not know how to wire the display to the arduino nor what model to use. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Dear Instructables Administration: While downloading Instructables as PDF files, I like to edit the name of the file with the following convention at the end of the title: How_to_Make_Mashed_Potatoes (*++).pdf The part that looks like this (*++) indicates that the instructable has been featured (*) and has been a finalist in 2 contests (++). This lets me peruse my downloaded instructables within a given category (I file them by project type) and find one that is really top-of-the-line at a glance. Would it be possible and/or acceptable to have this sort of suffix automatically added to the title of downloads by the instructable web site? This would save much time and effort for me and anyone else who was interested in this luxurious little feature. Perhaps it could be included as a preference check-box for those who did (or didn't) want this feature enabling them to choose it? Would the code to do this be difficult to implement? I hereby request this feature for pro members! Timothy Nugent

I'm using a UK mapped keyboard and FireFox and find that I get a couple of problems when posting certain characters. The 'Pound' symbol shows in the thread with a circumflexed 'A' before it, and colons and semi-colons have a circumflexed 'A' after them. Is there a way of getting these characters in so they display correctly? Examples £ : ;
