I need help. I've wanted to make a good 3D game for a long time now, and I don't know what to do next. I've downloaded the latest version of Blender on my computer, but my computer is very laggy, has an inconsiderate graphics card, and I have no idea how I'll be able to play it other than on the blender game engine. I took careful notes, I already have a pretty good idea what I want to make, but the idea is so huge, that I don't think my computer (or any computer) could handle it. I have excellent artistic skills, and I've made a lot of thumbnail drawings, conceptual artwork, and details. But I have absolutely no skills at programming, and I've never made a game before. What should I do now? I'm working on learning how to use blender, but since I just got it today, I might be a couple of decades...If I can't make this game, is there a company that I could sell my plans to in some hope that a game might be made? If I can't make a game, I suppose a good 3D movie would work as well...... But I just don't know yet.

In the late '50's Popular Electronics magazine (out of print) published an article "building a rudimentary computer" It was called the Challenger. It was a circuit that could play the old parlor game of "21", and utilized a mechanical stepping relay to do the "computing". There was a series of 21 pilot lamps, with a 'player' and 'machine' pushbuttons. The player, and the machine, in turn, could light 1, 2, or 3 lamps, with the object being to avoid lighting the last, or 21st lamp. The machine would invariably win. The secret is that within the number 21 there are five groups of 4, with one left over. Whatever number the player selects, (1, 2, or 3) the machine then selects a number that, when added to the players choice, totals 4. (player 1, mach. 3 / player 2, mach 2/ player 3, mach. 1) It would seem that today's processors and LED's, could handle this task easily. Would you, or someone you know, be interested in designing such a circuit as a project? I built it back then but I'm afraid my knowledge is stuck back in that time and would need instructions remenicient of that era.

Think students playing games on their laptops during class is bad? What about parliament members playing games during government policy sessions? The parliament of Bhutan, a small country in the Himalayas, has decided to ban laptops so that lawmakers will stop playing computer games while the Bhutanese parliament is in session. It is not however true that we were always playing games, said the MP, who is from the governing Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT). We need the laptops because that saves us the trouble of having to carry huge amounts of paper and documents. He makes a good point: playing game after game of tic-tac-toe does require a huge amount of paper. What games do you think they were playing?

So, I live in a dorm now with a few other students. We'd like to play a game together on our personal laptops, but we don't know which ones would be good to play. Requirements: 1. No internet access required. 2. 2-16 players or more. Multiplayer-only games are OK, but single player would be nice too. 3. Mainstream games are fine, but if you know of any indie games, that would be even better. 4. It doesn't have to be new. In fact, from 1990-2008 would be just fine. 5. Most of all, it has to be fun to play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

'Sup. So I have a cheap crappy computer, (even i realize it) and on most games it should work smooth; but it lags. VERY often. But it lags on every game similarly: It would work smooth for about 10 seconds, and then it would be like playing a playstation game on a windows 98. Over and over again. It lags on most the games i have: Battlefield 3, just cause 2, saints row 3, mafia 2, even on gta san andreas. This is very annoying and my parents are alittle stingy on money. H3LP M3 PL34ZE??

Here's my situation. I got Call of Duty: Special Editon 3 for the ps2 after playing the Xbox 360 version because I loved the multiplayer mode. But when my ps2 game arrived, it was only playable in single or online. I have close to dial-up internet. I have a Wii, Ps2, DS lite and Computer, So I was thinking about just selling it and buying it again for the wii. But I don't know if it has multiplayer (local). I could also get a newer call of duty. My last option is selling my ps2 and it's 14+ games and buying an Xbox 360. What should I do?

I was just wondering how easy it would be to make your own simple game console to hook up to tvs. dosent have to have 3d graphics but it would be a plus. i just kinda want something to play around with and make my own games for it. price isnt really a problem but even a computer that can run .exes from a cd, and plug into a tv, and posibly even play through a online server with other people. edit: ok i meant like using microcontrolers now. i want to make a gamboy like system and possibly even wireless. i know you can play games using micro comtrolers, but no idea what i would need. anyone with any idea about this please comment. oh, and a lcd screen too, so that would prolly ne a little work, but im up for it

I know that its possible to get a ps3 running Linux, turning it into a fully functional computer. And some people say that it will make a good gaming computer, but the hardware doesnt seem to meet the requirements, only 325 mb of RAM when most games require 6gb. Will a ps3 be a good gaming computer running linux, or is it only good for gaming as a console?

Young chimpanzee can recall number placement better than people can.http://www.nature.com/news/2007/071203/full/news.2007.317.htmlA particularly cunning seven-year-old chimp named Ayumu has bested university students at a game of memory. He and two other young chimps recalled the placement of numbers flashed onto a computer screen faster and more accurately than humans."It's a very simple fact: chimpanzees are better than us -- at this task," says Tetsuro Matsuzawa, a primatologist at Kyoto University in Japan who led the study. The work doesn't mean that chimps are 'smarter' than humans, but rather they seem to be better at memorizing a snapshot view of their surroundings -- whether that be numbers on a screen or ripe figs dangling from a tree. Humans may have lost this capacity in exchange for gaining the brainpower to understand language and complex symbols, says Matsuzawa.

If I were to build a gaming PC and put Linux on it (probably Ubuntu or Mint) Could I play decent games on it? such as First person shooters, strategy, and RPGs? I'm hoping for more like main-line games (COD, Halo, Age of Empires, Civilization....), not shady, third party download type games.

When you move, the character on the bottom screen will move along with the one on top. You use the stylus on the bottom screen to draw a red line on the top screen. I hope you like my game. Note: You have to have a copy of Petit Computer for 3DS/XL/DSi/XL/2DS to play this game. Game Version: 0.1.1

Human VS Computers - an algorithmic competitionScience and technology have been mimicking nature for as long as human beings have been tinkering. Computer scientists have developed neural networks and genetic programming techniques to try to approximate the computational methods of nature. But here's something new:http://fold.itFold it is a game that takes advantage of unique human perspectives in problem solving and also the innate competitive drive to solve the insanely difficult problem of protein folding."Since proteins are part of so many diseases, they can also be part of the cure. Over the summer, we will add new functionality to the game to allow users to design brand new proteins that could help prevent or treat important diseases."-I think this is interesting, have you guy's tried this. I can't wait to see how we (as humans) pan out.BG

I am a fairly avid scuba diver, I try to dive every other weekend, but I think I want a dive computer. It can calculate my pressure group, weather I do a multilevel dive or use a different nitrox mix. A good dive computer should also tell you your current and max depth, tell you if you are ascending or descending to quickly, include a compass and maybe even show you how much air you have left. It should also be easy to use. I also like Fallout (3 and 4 are the only ones I have played), and the wrist mounted computer that the hero always wears, called the pipboy 3000, looks like it would be the perfect dive computer. Not only could it be a dive computer, but it also may be a watch, or even an mp3 player while above water. Although the knobs, scroll wheel, and "RT" and "LT" buttons make using it seem more complicated, the size of the unit allows for a larger processer, allowing for a similar GUI as that of the "real" pipboy. Such a GUI would be able to display info in Standard English, such as "Set your nitrox % mixture." and letting you use the wheel to set the air mix that you will be using. I guess that having “confirm” and “back” buttons would help as well. The Geiger counter can easily be used as a depth gauge, which works, as the deeper you go, the more dangerous. The dive computer settings could be where the quest, world, radio, etc used to be, and you can have dive info and other things like reminders where your stats would be. The time could be displayed on the upper right side of all screens except the time screen, which shows the month day and time, which would be where your “weapons” usually are. Other time related functions can be used to fill the sub-sections like stopwatch, timer, etc. There could also be a screen that shows your limb conditions that you can switch to, just like anyone you meet in the game who has a pipboy, you see that screen. All this will have to be water resistant to maybe 70 to 100 feet, made of a hard metal, and fit comfortably. If anyone has any ideas on how to make and program this, or know of any job shops that can make and program this please answer. I know someone can do it, I wouldn’t know where to start looking. I probably made this sound much more complex than most likely is. I am basically looking for a diving computer that looks like a pipboy 3000 and is easy to use. I don’t really need an mp3 player. Again, if anyone has any imput on how to build and program it, or if anyone know any jobshops I can send this request to to have this made, please let me know. this is too good of an idea to forget about. Edit: Thanks to all who answered, And I think just the fact that it IS entirely possible is good enough for me, although price is probably the limiting factor. Thanks again.

Hey, I'm trying to figure out which computer I should buy. One is an HP Pavilion HPE H8 with an Intel i7 third generation quad core at 3.4Ghz. The other has an AMD FX100 Hex core processor at 3.5Ghz. It sounds like the AMD is the winner, but I just want to be sure. I plan on running games such as Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, Saints Row 3, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed World, and about 7 or 8 other smaller games. The computer with the AMD processor has 8GB RAM and the i7 processor has 10GB, both have 1TB sata 7200rpm HDD. Which is faster? Which will run best?

Ok, i was trying to help someone on a different forum with their computer problem. heres the post: "My sister bought a new computer. Its a monster of a computer.. Some HP with 8GB RAM 64bit Vista o.o It didnt have a TV-card, so she bought one and put it in herself. Shes been playing some online game, I dont know which one but whatever. After the game loaded a new patch, she got an error message. Some CCCC.exe errored.. She found out that CCCC-thing was part of a driver of her grafic card. Whenever she tried shutting down the computer now, it would take about 5 minutes, than the 5 seconds she used to have before. And the problem got worse every day. The computer is running really slow. For example hitting the Windows button, it will take her about 3 minutes till it even shows the Windows-menu. She tried downloading a new driver for the grafic card. But after hours of searching she couldnt find the one for her card. So she took an older version of it. But yet.. it wont work. Should she just back-up the whole computer and install Windows new again?" anyone know what to do? all credit will go to the poster upon request.

I have Call of Duty 2 (or COD2) for PC. I've had it running fine on my computer before. Then I got a virus and then had to run it again, which is this time. I put it into my disk drive...nothing happened. I went to device manager and it said that my two CD drives were not working properly. I uninstalled them and reinstalled them. I restarted my computer, put it in and nothing happened. When i go "My Computer" it says that the disk drive is empty. I have Windows XP.

So, I want to build a computer, and this would be my first computer. I don't know how to tell how parts are compatible with other parts, and which parts are good. I just want a computer that can surf the web, and support gaming with little to no lag, or freezing. To keep cost down, I don't exactly need to be able to play newer games that can over heat a six month old gaming computer in seconds. I want to keep this project under $400, or at $450 at most. Some games I would like to run is Halo 1 and 2, counter strike, and perhaps WoW. Any, and all help will be appreciated, Thank you.

Is it possible to use a program like Flight Simulator 2000 to send radio signals to an RC plane? The game can take messages from a joystick and convert that to "move ailerons," "throttle up," etc. If it is possible how can it be done? For a contest I am thinking about entering I need to build a vertical takeoff/landing UAV that can fly out 2 miles beyond line-of-sight, send back live video (or possibly a buch of still pictures) of an area for up to 3 hours, and return to a different spot than where it started. I don't know where to get radio equipment that can go that far except expensive 900MHz stuff. Some walkie-talkies claim to be able to go that far but I don't know if they can send a signal useable for something like that. So I was thinking of having my drone drop a thing half way that could pick up, amplify, and re-transmit controls to the UAV, and video (+mabey some tellemetry stuff) back to the controller. Is that possible?

I was just wondering if it would be possible to make a gameboy into a simplified computer with some small (?) upgrades. IE higher resolution, modern screen, extra buttons, wifi? I'm mainly thinking about it in terms of playing games like the following: www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ www.spelunkyworld.com/original.html www.youtube.com/watch These are just a small few of what I had in mind for the proposed system, but I am unsure of the plausibility of all of this. Keep in mind though that these are all free, free to share, independent games with file sizes much much smaller than traditional games. I do know that Texas Instrument calculators of the 73 line and higher have the capability to be rigged up for some simple games, so I got to wondering.... Anyways, let me know what you all think about this :)
