Corded to cordless

I've seen lots of instructables on turning cordless tools into corded tools, but not a single one the other way round. I want to know how it works the other way round. How do you make a corded tool into a cordless? Please, please help!

Rope/Cord Bracelet

I recently saw this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/gallery/2011/nov/18/christmas-gift-ideas-jewellery-over-20-pounds#/?picture=381571697&index;=4 ... and thought that someone could whip it up in next to no time, saving a fair few pennies. I'm not so hot on jewellery making though - does anyone know what the finding on the right hand side of the bracelet, the cylindrical one, is called?

USB extension cord not working

I needed to extend my USB port from behind my TV so I used an old phone charger cord, cut off the phone connection end and soldered a female usb port to it. I now had a cord with a male USB connection on one end and a Female USB connector onthe other. I double and triple checked the wire connections. (red, white, green, black). I even tested each cable end to end with a multimeter to ascertain that the were no short circuits or breaks in the wires. The extension is less than a meter long and it does not work when I plug it into my pc with a flash drive. What could possibly be wrong?Any assistance would be appreciated.

Power Tool Corded to Cordless

Hi 'nstructables I'm building a hovercraft (see several tutorials on Instructables - the one with a leaf blower) and my leaf blower is corded. I don't want to buy 25 miles of Black and Decker High Power Extension Cabling so I'm planning to convert to cordless. Here's my idea: (in visual) Is there anything I need to add? And if so, how do I make the "12VDC-240VAC" inverter described? My blower is 1600 watt. Thanks for any help! (Black and Decker)

Looking for a iTouch USB cord wiring diagram? Repairing the USB cord

Hey, I have two old USB cords form my iPod Touch laying around, and I took one apart to find that two of the wires simply pulled free of the part that goes into the iPod. I'm not willing to risk blindly soldering them back on and hopefully not frying my iPod to test it out, without at least a few tips as to which wire goes where. Could anyone help me? The four wire colors are green, blue, orange, and white. Orange and white are the ones that pulled free. Thanks :)

Help with what type of motor I should get

Ok well I've made a cord/wire reel for a 30m long internet cord, that I use for my xbox 360. I made it using 2 of those cd stacks holders. like this:[=====] II II II II[=====]Then put a cut half newspaper over so that the cord doesn't have to make tiny circles. It's really annoying when I reel the cord back in cause I have to turn the reel or else the cord gets twisted. I cant just grab the cord and wrap it around the reel. If you dont get what I mean then think of it as if you had pack up some string so you grab the string in one hand and use the the other to wrap it around. Thats what I cant do instead I have to rotated the hand thats holding the string other wise the cord gets twisted. So what I thought was that I could either get a motor that reels it in for me and I can also pull it out without damaging the motor or I could use something that you use to reel in a garden hose. The cord and the reel way a tiny bit over 1kg.Any ideas on what motor I shouldget or how to build the reel in thingy.

Easier starting chainsaw?

Is it possible to make a pull-cord chainsaw (Stihl 029) easier to start?  I'm in my mid-seventies and have lost much of my former strength, as such, I have extreme difficulty starting the saw initially. Once it's warmed-up, no problema, but after sitting for a few days, well—.  Anyone have a suggestion (aside from buying an electric saw which will not be practical, because of the cord length)?

what should a hotel General Manager do with all the forgotten Cell phone chargers

I'm a General Manager at a hotel and have worked at a number of different hotels through the years. Every place I've ever worked there is always a huge bin of long lost cell phone chargers. We've looked at donating them to charities but haven't found anyone in need or a use for them. I've used some in the past for projects. Is there any other uses for these or a place that people could use them. As a service to our guests we always keep a few around for the guests that forgot theirs at home but we always have more then we would ever use for that purpose.

A/V Cord to Typical Stereo Wires? Answered

I have a surround sound speaker system that only takes the typical stereo wires (you know, positive and negative electrode inputs for left and right side). I also have a stereo reciever that only provides A/V outputs. I was pondering how I could make these work when I realized that, even with an A/V cord, it still needs to make a complete circuit. Thus the cord needs to have two wires going through it, and the plug had a way to complete that circuit. Now that I know this, I want to know if I can cut the plug off of one end, strip the wires apart, and plug those wire ends in my subwoofer? If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know! And please help me determine which wires are positive and negative current. THANKS!

Bluetooth Trackball for the spinal cord injured.

Bluetooth Trackball for the spinal cord injured. I'm a quadriplegic and I'm looking for a Bluetooth trackball like the old ones from Kensington or Logitech. They were the larger trackballs that have 4 buttons. I know there is a large population of people with disabilities who would greatly appreciate help in locating someone to design, engineer, and produce. There is definitely a large demand for one of this type. I know there are wireless USB units currently on the market however moving from computer to computer I'm afraid that I will lose the USB receiver plug. Something like the link below… http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/menet/item/ma-tb38r/ If there is somebody out there brave enough to help, please let me know. Thanks for your help! Steve

Can I cut the end of a computer keyboard power cord and connect a USB cord to it?

I just got into electronics and I really like LEDs. I started looking around the house for some, but I might just go buy brand new ones. Well, I still have my old computer and I took apart the keyboard for LEDs. Instead of trying to take the LEDs out of it, I decided to keep everything together. The power cord is connected to the other board thing (a motherboard or baseboard?) It is one of the kind that have the 6 long pieces that makes a circle-like shape. I want to know if I can make that end a USB. www.quarkr.com/app/upload/product/20090525/image(962).jpg I see that in this image this is something that I want to do. But everything from the keyboard is still connected. I hope I am explaining this clearly enough.

Wiring an indoor extension cord to a small switch?

Hi - I need to take an indoor extension cord like this and wire it to a switch like this. I'm assuming I can just cut one of the two wires within the extension cord and connect either end to a prong on the switch.  Actually, I'm almost positive that will work. The real question here: is it safe? So, will this switch be able to hand the electricity from the outlet running through it? Thanks, Adam

Laptop "plug" upgrade/replacement question.?

I have an Asus K53SV Laptop and the power jack is busted, like the internal connections are loose.  I'm looking to upgrade it to a panel-mount one that's screwed into the case instead mounted to the mother-board. How do I find out which kind to order online?  It's not like I can go to the barrel-jack store with my laptop brick and see which one fits.  Is there a standard sizing scheme or something?  I couldn't find one. Also, is there a MagSafe like system for this?  I'd love to have it come apart if someone trips over the cord (again... that's why it's broken now... >.<)

How do I change the color of my earbud cord or create a detachable cord cover? ? Answered

I just got 3 new skullcandy earbuds really cheap at Marshalls.  The white really stands out when I want my cord to blend with my dark clothes. I want to find a way to change the cord color from white to black that won't rub off on my clothes and will stay.  I would be willing to paint but would consider other ways to cover the white cord .  Any ideas on how I could change  the color with permanently?   What type of paint  is best to permanently change the color of my white earbud cord to black? Could I sew a  protective cover ?  I read the instructable about using a sharpie but want the color to not rub off.  I tried black nail poilish which seems to chip off.    Please help if you have ideas!
