I just want to know because of recent topics, what do you know about me. And I know I see what I think people look like in my mind even though I've never seen them, so I was just wondering if anyone thinks they know what I look like. Please post anything, ANYTHING that will keep this topic from fading into oblivion before my curiosity is quenched. :D

Hi all. A few weeks ago I was visiting my cousin and we ended up going through a tool box full of things left to him by his father we came across two that we were at a loss to identify. The first is a brass cylindrical container about five inches long by 3/4" diameter with what I can only describe as a gouge attached to the inside of the screw down cap, it is blunt and shows no signs of ever having been sharpened so I'm fairly sure it wasn't meant for cutting. The second has a few clues of it's own with a manufacturer name and a part registration number, it also has what looks very much to me like a small cutting wheel similar to the kind you would find on a glass cutter, the small section with the words "British Made The Ideal" slides along the slot it sits in and the tip at that end is a sharp point. Any ideas folks? Thanks in advance. NG.

Instructables is great! But can you pick just a few things that you adore about it? If so, please comment below :) (I didn't know what to put as a pic for this so I decided to make it interesting!)

I had ubuntu 12.04 + win 7 installed, i didn't like ubuntu hence i deleted the partition. But i forgot to fix mbr. Also i cannot access the mutiboot option using f12 at startup. So when i start ,i get the lenovo screen with f2 f12 options but none work, and then the screen shows unknown filesystem grub rescue- with commands ls i get (hd0) (hd0,gpt6) (hd0,gpt5) (hd0,gpt4) (hd0,gpt3) (hd0,gpt2) (hd0,gpt1) (cd 0) and with set i get prefix=(hd0,gpt3)/boot/grub root=hd0,gpt3 may be because i had installed my ubuntu in gpt3 partition can anybody fix this problem?

Greetings I started growing an avocado tree from a pit...it's at least 8 months old now. My roommate said it was important to nip off some of the top shoots so that it would get stronger lower leaves. After it got about 20 inches tall, we nipped off the top, and now a few weeks later the top half of the trunk is showing signs of what I can only assume is infection. The bottom of the stalk/trunk is quite strong and stiff - as are the 6 or so leaves coming from it. Above that, where the newer leaves are, the stalk is mottled with 2-5mm long dark spots running vertically, and all the leaves in the area with the spots are paper thin, slightly translucent, and very weak. On top of them they have a waxy shiny sheen, where the healthy leaves do not. The healthy leaves are quite erect sideways, opaque, and vibrant dark green - while the weaker leaves droop almost vertical, are translucent, and lighter in colour. Is it an infection? Is there anything I need to worry about? Is there anything I can actually do? Pictures: 1) Good bottom 1/3 section 2) mottled middle 1/3 section 3) mottled top 1/3 section

We seem to have a giant collection of some very 'tasty' recipes on here. Wouldn't it be great to have them in a cookbook-like form, categorized. Even a quick cookbook vs traditional cook-time book. The instructables format even gives the novice cook an almost foolproof set of instructions which would make it soooo easy for someone to impress their guests.

I was curious how the "Most Popular" section on the front page works, it's great and shows some wonderful Instructables, but I'm curious as to how an Instructable with just 67 views gets #1 on the list. Is it views / time? Comments / time? Thanks!

Hey all, I'm new to the site and I am excited to get into all the stuff on the site. My specific questions deals with Pro for teachers and if it is still available for free. The post I saw was old and I can't find it again (really just didn't want to look that hard) and I was wondering how I could get in on that good stuff. I look forward to posting and checking out the content. I have a few students that have used the site for little projects of their own. I spent some time today showing some of the students the site on my iPad and talking about getting involved next year. I might even have a pair that will have an instructable to share in the next few weeks. Thanks in advance and I look forward to collaborations.

I was curious if anyone has created an air compressed tesla turbine bike. Using a 4500 , maybe even 2 4500 carbon fiber tanks. Something along the lines of this instructable https://www.instructables.com/id/How_to_Strap_a_Leaf_Blower_Engine_to_a_Bike_and_Go/ Just curious if anyone has tried this, sort of thing and if it was plausible, and how long the tanks would last or if there was some other design such as directly hooking up to the gears.

I am curious which would be best for casting my 9 coil 3 phase stator ,Cyanate ester resin ,or Polyester resin?I also curious if it would be best to cast all coils together as a whole or would individual castings work better for heat dissipation? The individual picture just for example. Thanks for taking time to help :)

Oh my... Coffee beans!(Sorry - had to create a new thread, would not let me edit)Challenge: Oh my! I lost my precious coffee beans! I need to travel around the world searching for them. Will you help me stay awake for that? Collaborate and innovate together - find a new way to filter coffee! Do not use anything expensive and try not to create too much waste ;) Let's go!... How does this game work: 1) First collect ideas for a coffee filter here under this thread until Sunday 24th midnight PST - write what you think would work freely!2) Discuss the ideas here, while they are being collected.3) Select one idea and form teams - prototype together, form an Instructable, make it Collaborative. Or alternatively, just add in your existing Instructable and make it Collaborative. Innovate together! A very rough prototype that shows the principle is sufficient. The time limit for this step is to be announced - not more than several days.4) Collect the 'ibles here under this thread (or I could make a collection of 'ibles if possible) 5) Let's vote and see which new coffee filter is the best!...I will always be around here - you could ask me anything and give feedback, too :).Disclaimer: This is part of a research for my PhD at Istanbul Technical University, department of Industrial Design. The research is strictly non-commercial, only for academic purposes and not financed in any way. I found this circuit while on some image gallery but I want to know what it does! I did some research and does this circuit have anything to do with truth tables? So could you please tell me, what the purpose of this circuit? and whether truth tables are involved? Thanks Dan1001

I am curious, not so much for my own self (after all, I am nearing my mid fifties) but because a youngster that I am mentoring likes this kind of thing, is there any way to get a decent "collection" of parts together without spending half a fortune? She prefers robotics, dinosaurs, and human anatomy to other subjects, but loves to build just about anything. And since erector sets and lego mindstorms sets (she's a bit advanced for an 8 year old) are so expensive, and she does have a small K'nex set started, I figured we could "build" on that one, if it can be done at a reasonable price. Sadly for me, "reasonable" is much less than the average idea of reasonable. When I was younger, I got an erector set that could build literally hundreds of different "contraptions" for about $20-$30 and now I see on line a "discounted" "contraptions" set that can be used to build 6 different things for about the same price.....not really comparable in any way. Tinkertoys are not really that "useful" for "creating" things as far as I could see (had those as a child also and the one I am helping doesn't care for them either). She also has a set of lincoln logs, but bores of them quickly as her imagination has not yet had a chance to "kick in" :-) I know I asked a similar question recently (in the general forums) that was a bit more broader in perspective, so I thought I would narrow it down and get some input from you all. Thank you in advance !

I've long intended to write instructables on many diverse topics. Considering my extensive building background and ability to teach coherently, I feel I could be a great resource to many people. However, I am a numbers oriented person, and I think it would be a fun challenge to see if I could match the output of some of the more prolific instructors on the site. Is there a list of 'the top ten most prolific instructable authors' or something similar? Or even a 'top ten best instructable authors by popular vote'. I would just like to make sure I am putting out comparably awesome content, not just making 'ables for mere quantity...Heaven knows how I hate opening an instructable to find one lousy sentence and an obscure picture....Thanks!
