Just wondering if you would be willing to offer Veteran Discounts for Pro membership?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there is a discount offered for college students or a discount if you have an Autodesk subscription?

I remember once seeing that an Instructables Pro-Membership came with a discount code for purchasing on Adafruits website or am I mistaken and if I did see it once, does this discount still exist? There is something on Adafruit I need to purchase, so before I do, it would help to know if there is or is not a discount for having a Pro-membership. Thanks in advance for any information about this.

Hey guys, thanks for the Pro months!! I'm interested in checking out a few of the sites with discount codes, but it looks like a few of them include "13" and expired in 2013. Can we still use those, or should there be a new code? (I think one of them was for Lumi.) Cheers! Alex

How long can you use the discount code for? I have a big wishlist I'm planning on buying in may (utilizing birthday money), and if I don't win the contest, I would like to know if I can still wait until may to buy the stuff. EDIT: I was under the assumption that the "add a new topic" button would add a new topic to the contest, not just the forums. I was talking about the april fools day contest.

So my calendar Instructable turned into a successful Kickstarter project. And now that I have calendars left over I've started selling them online at a new store here: supamoto.co The calendars are big at 24" x 36" with the goal of being able to make long-term plans and see the whole year at a glance. It also has a week count down the middle so you can quickly see how far away events are in the past or future. For all of you awesome folks here, I'd like to offer up a discount code for $2 off. Just use INSTRUCTATHON when checking out. Yes, I know, the store is super rough. It needs work. I'm getting to it when I can.

Here's something I haven't seen before: the "pro-only" ad for Adafruit's discounts has a Featured banner in the upper right corner! Even the Instructables Card Game ad doesn't have that banner. Is this something new for "blessed" in-house ads? Or a bug? Or what?

My wife bought the thing (DS Lite) on Ebay at about a $40 discount......well, so far it works....she got it to do the Brain Age games. Opinions, comments, over-ripe tomatoes, welcome :-)

I was looking through the discounts that pro instructables members get (which I am). I saw a 10% off your purchase from adafruit. It said that you can only use it once but I have never used it before. I was trying to buy an arduino uno, full sized breadboard, and breadboard wires. When I entered the code that I got (which I wont say on here but private message me if you need to know it) in the "enter gift certificates or discount codes" box in your cart it says invalid coupon code. Away from that, On the iOS app running iOS 6.1.6, there are many glitches in the app. One of them is that in the contest tab, it only shows some of the current contests, none of the finished and rarely it will show one that is being judged or open for voting only. Then it doesn't show all of the contests. For example, today, 6/30/14 at 4:30 pm Pacific time, It shows 15 out of 23 contests. It shows the contests: squeeze ore out of summer, Epilog 6, summer #mikehacks, paint it, great outdoors, lego, knex, metal, home tech, hair and makeup, concrete, glue, bbq, swimwear, and battery contest. The ones it doesn't show on the app that appear on the website are green design, launch it, wheels, outdoor workshop, bees, tarun featured author, r/c, and pallet contests. Some website problems are also there, Often times you will have to click search twice because the first time it will just go to the featured page. You also have to click twice to place a comment. I'm not sure if this is a bug but I posted a Q and A topic about how I haven't got a medal for different things like being featured and getting views and also comments. I've got one featured and about 13.5k views. I should have two bronze medals. In the Q and A topic someone answered that I might not be able to get them for a certain amount of time: e.g. a year, I've been a member for about six months, so I thought that might be true. Then I saw that Bhawya already has 6 achievements including 3 medals, and she has been a member for less time than me. Also, a suggestion, it would be nice to have forums, groups, and Q&A; on the iOS app. And a collections section.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to make a scoreboard or counter out of two screens from old discount "touch screen" organizers, brand name Ultronic. They are 32K memory devices that used to store phone numbers, had calculators, etc. Anyone have any idea what I would need to start this project?

If you teach electronics to groups, finding all the parts you need can be a drag. Organizing those parts once you receive them? Even draggier. Asking students to buy the materials? The draggiest. It looks like Jameco is making it a little bit easier to source and organize educational kits. Just browse their site, add kit components to your cart, provide some basic info about your school, and either you or your students can purchase the kits from the Jameco site. They'll even include the course number and an educational discount for you or your students. Here's the text from the announcement: While we've always offered educational discounts, we're excited to announce a new program to allow you to design your own electronic kit. Whether you want to create your own grab bag of components or design a step-by-step project, Jameco will source it, build it and sell it offering students an educational discount and educators a royalty on every kit sold. Oh yeah. And they'll provide some royalties. Probably not enough to pay off your new 'vette, but it's better than nothing. Check out this super-informative link for all the info. This is in no way an advertisement for Jameco, but this program might be useful for teachers, professors, scout leaders, after school programs, hackerspaces, or any other place where a group of people would learn electronics.

(or: one fob to rule them all)problem: too damned many keychain fobs for all the supermarket and other retail discount clubseach one is designed to be nothing more than advertisement on one side (store logo) and a bar code on the other.solution: electronic keychain that can be programmed to display a store’s logo and discount club’s UPC code. a small LCD might work, but would be difficult to properly scan with bar code scanner. plus, LCDs drain batteries whenever they’re on.something like electronic ink would work better. it’s more reflective, only uses batteries when changing the pixels, and the display only needs to be black and white, so why bother with LCD?(http://www.eink.com/)the whole thing could be really tiny, needing only the controls to scroll through the programmed UPCs, the display itself (maybe .5′’ x 1.25′’), a small battery and a mini-USB port (for plugging into a computer to program in the UPC codes).anybody want to build me one? my keychain’s getting a little cramped.

Hi gang! We're running this super fun challenge over at Betabrand, and I knew you guys would be into it. So I'm calling on all of your zany photoshop skillz to blow this thing up! And I mean, seriously, get wacky with this. Recently we did a Think Tank poll (that's the section I run, so I hope you all dig it) to see what color we should make the next disco hoodie. Canida in particular was a strong supporter of purple, as her twitter campaign for purple disco indicated, and indeed, purple won this round! So to celebrate, we're asking people to play around with some photos of the new purple disco hoodie. Photoshop any of these images of hoodies to participate, and email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Purple Disco Hoodies Gold Disco Hoodies Check out a few of these sites if you need inspiration: Kotaku (gets better as you scroll down, also provides links to other examples) Fark (so many. . . just. Just look.) Oh, and hey, did I mention that everyone who plays gets a 20% discount to Betabrand? And there were only 50 Purple Disco Hoodies created? So, you know, if you're into it, get going. Let's show these Betabrand folks how it's done!

Seeing that the economy has gone absolutely crazy with the outrageous prices for food!!!! I would like to ask my fellow community members if you have noticed any grocery stores who are having good deals on turkeys per pound? I live here in Northeastern Ohio and at Save a Lot(Discount food store) a turkey was $1.79 a pound. Please can somebody possibly give me some feedback on how a family of three can have a decent meal without spending my whole paycheck?

Last year I created a Jellyfish costume created out of discounted yarn, tull, a Clear umbrella and a string of electroluminescent wire. It got rave reviews and was just fun to play with. So, I have a vision but really no skills as far as technology or art are concern. I'm trying to deveolp a Peacock costume that will be primarly worn at night. I want the feathers to open and close preferably by a switch. I plan on having electroluminescent wire throughout the costume. I've been racking my rain and asking my techy friends for ideas but I keep coming up short. Anyone have an idea on how to "motorize" the feathers? Any advice is welcome and appriceated!!!

Fenix Intl is a little company with a great solution for backcountry power. It’s the Fenix ReadySet: a mobile power source with a sleek design, which fits (along with its solar panel) in a backpack. It can also be charged with a bicycle generator or plugged into the power main, if that’s handy. They are targeting it towards remote parts of Africa, where power is rare and sun is plentiful, but I’d use the ReadySet’s 5- and 12-volt outlets to finally rig my swamp fort with the Arduino-powered extras it clearly needs. In addition to the USB charging ports, it’s got cigar lighter adapters, so charging a phone and running a radio in the wilderness are options as well. Sound good to you? Just yesterday, Fenix launched a Kickstarter campaign where pledgers are rewarded with discounted ReadySets and other Fenix gear. It runs until August 10th, though as of writing it looks like they’ll reach their goal by the end of the day! (Update: goal now reached. But you can still get the units at a discount!) What’s more, our friends at Fenix have given us lots of units to play with and use as prizes. Thus, Instructables will be running an “Off the Grid” contest in early August-September, to be based on rural and mobile power sources, green charging, and renewable energy solutions. And we’ll be giving lots of ReadySets away. What can you do? How could you make it even cooler with a Fenix ReadySet? Post your ideas below in the comments, and we'll look forward to seeing your Instructables in the contest! -SelkeyMoonbeam

Who is my audience? I started writing my first instructable and hardly got two sentences written before I found myself assuming everyone is in the United States. For instance if want to say some fabric costs $4.50/yard at Wal-Mart, that's potentially 3 things not everybody can immediately understand: the dollars, the almost exclusively American unit of measure, and a store that's not in every country. Should I just say it, or should try to translate. i.e. The fabric costs about USD $4.92 per meter at local discount stores. There must be a middle ground, but my strong Aspie craving for exact specifications makes me ask here before getting started.

So, I've been wanting a didgeridoo, and thanks to my $25 gift certificate to amazon from the science fair, I was finally able to order one! I knew that I didn't want a PVC one (like many that are for sale) but other than that, it just needed to be cheap. Luckily, I found the perfect one, so I ordered it on the 13th. The estimated shipping date was from the 22nd to the 25th...so they would ship it today or tomorrow. When I checked my email this morning, this is what I found:Dear Micah Weissensteinburg,We have received the order you placed on Amazon. In rare instances, we run out of stock on an item and another personbuys it before we can update our stock on Amazon. Unfortunately that iswhat happened in this case. The 52" Aboriginal Didgeridoo is on backorder but oursupplier could not provide us the ETA, so unfortunately we do not know when it could be shipped. We fell behind a bit on our stock updates. We really strive to keep our customers happy and wish to attempt to makethis right with you. We will offer you a 10% discount on your next order with us.We apologize for the inconvenience. Just make note on your nextorder that you were promised a 10% discount (with this number 6Y139).Please visit our storefront under ShopZeus.com.Thank you for your understanding.Yours sincerely,Support teamThat's right, twelve days later I get an email saying that they just didn't have any more...and it's not like that 10% will do anything, they're the kind of store that sells whatever hey can get their hands on. Twelve days to find out they're sold out is just inexcusable, and now i'm stuck trying to find another didge, besides the fact that a bunch of my friends expect me to have it on monday. Gah!
