I found this metal plate and I've searched everywhere and can't find it.

How would you imprint a graphic or text onto a blank aluminium or stainless steel blank switch plate cover?

I'm making a pedal board/road case with a buddy of mine. It's in its early stages, but it will consist of a pedal board and lift-away lid, covered in tolex with metal corners and such. I'd like to put some sort of small name plate or logo on the front end of it. I've found a blank switch plate cover, normally used to cover up spots where light switches or power outlets used to be, and by some means apply a logo or text to it. It's about the size that I'd like the logo/text to be anyways. I guess I could go and print a sticker and call it done, but I'm looking for a way to make this more permanent. It will be on the outside of what is essentially a small road case, so it will be up against the elements. So I guess if there was a good way to print off a design and put a layer of something over it so it will stay in place, possibly be shiny ( :D ), and be protected from the elements, I'd be all set! For the sake of aesthetics I've decided whatever plate I get, it will be some kind of metal. I've found brushed aluminium, stainless steel, and chrome.

LED Car Badge/Emblem/Shield

Hi there, Firstly, I am a mechanical engineering student with a limited knowledge of circuits and electronics, so therefore I may be a little out of my depth. However I am very keen to learn about electronic circuits and have completed other simpler projects and that is why I am attempting this project. So onto my dilemma, I want to use my universities Shield of Arms to make a car badge for the single-seater racecar we are building as a project. However this badge won't just be a run-of-the-mill plastic car badge. I want it to be made from stainless steel (laser cut) and acrylic with the idea that I will solder a bunch of LEDs in series and when the ignition is turned on, the LEDs light up one at time until they are all lit, after which they all flash three times together and then remain lit up until the ignition is turned off. The LEDs I intend on using are 0603 SMD LEDs and the aim of this whole design is that it is reasonably thin (No more than 1/4 " or 6.35mm thick for the PCB however ideally I would like it to be as thin as is physically possible. The dimensions of the badge will be very similar to a Porsche badge (51mm by 69mm). I have included the Shield of Arms in question and also the Porsche emblem for comparison. Also price is an issue since as I am a student, I have limited resources, so if someone could point me to some cheap electronics parts shops etc it would be greatly appreciated. (I live in the United Kingdom so a lot of American shops will be unavailable to me) I don't really know how to read schematics but I do have friends working on this project who do,  however if anyone can guide me in the right direction with maybe a couple of how-to's (particularly the requirements for the lighting up process) and some really good pointers, it will be very much appreciated. If I have not made myself clear I do apologise and I will be happy to explain further should you need to. Thank you all in advance. I hope to hear from you soon. H

How do I get rid of scratches on plastic?

I have been wanting to get some minor scratches off of the top emblem on my GameCube to make it look nice. I was just wondering if there is any way to do this. Preferably a home remedy that doesn't require any special order chemicals. -TheWaddleWaaddle

LCD Monitor went blank

The Gateway logo and energy star emblem still come on the screen then after few seconds goes blank. When I unhooked from PC and hooked up to the HDMI input from satellite I saw nice picture for about three seconds then went blank and haven't been able to do it again. none of the inputs (HDMI, RCA, VGA, DVI )produce picture now except the Gateway logo and energy star emblem at start up. and the power button lite turns green from orange and menu buttons lite up then all go out as though no signal coming in.Model = gateway hd2200

Final Fantasy 6 magitek armor!

Hello, fellow instructables members! I was looking over Bug's steampunk chicken-walker mecha, and I had a most awesome idea. From the final fantasy game that screams "steampunk", I remember the cool walker mechas, the 'magitek armor'. See where I'm going with this? I plan to make a chicken-walker style Magitek armor costume! Now, I doubt my mecha will do the magiteks any justice, and I've never quite made a complete "costume" myself, save for a mashup medieval style outfit (makes me think of ike from fire emblem). So, if anyone has input, especially anyone who does steampunk, I'm all ears. Also, thank you again to the user "Bug" for the inspiration!

Creating a light from recycled parts

Here is my dilemma. I have a Superman acrylic plastic emblem. I removed it from a former toy and now I have an idea that I would like to make a light out of it. As you can see by the photos, it's not very big. It's length is roughly 2 inches, and I plan to sand the ridge down so it can slide inside a PVC pipe adapter. I have a landscape capsule light, so it doesn't have excessive heat, and it has direct light. I am trying to figure out a way to use all the material to make a light with a Batman Signal light type stand. (See Instructable for the the Batman Signal light) If anyone can assist me or give me some ideas, hints, suggestions so I can put all this together, it would be terrific. I will post the whole thing when I am completely done. Thanks!!!
