Here is where you can ask questions like if an accomplishment is a win or fail (This topic is a fail...lol)

Really digging this poster about failing and moving on to failing better. It's from a quote by Samuel Beckett and it's letterpressed onto recycled paper. Still trying to decide if it's worth the $46 to have it shipped to the US and then a little more to have it framed. Hmm. Fail Better Poster

Here's a blog I can totally identify with: CraftFail. For all those times when things don't go according to plan. That happens to be most of the time and hats off to those who are willing to share their embarassing stories with others. As one of the entries says: "We tried. We really did." It is officially impossible for anybody to live their full lives without failing. The reason why is because if you never fail, you fail at failing. Makes sense?I just posted this cuz I was bored, and I'm rollin' in mah six-fo' =P

I receive the newsletter through Yahoo Mail and everything is OK. But this e-mail is redirected to Outlook, directly into my computer. In Outlook, only the first (main) link works. The rest doesn´t. This problem have already happened around a year ago.

Some of the best advice I've received was to "fail faster." You want to get the mistakes out of the way, learn from them, and move on as quickly as possible. Don't live in fear of failure as you'll be stuck before you leave the starting gate. It's been good advice and in the spirit of embracing failure, here's a Fail blog that collects Fail images from all 'round the Internets. Enjoy. The FAIL Blogvia BoingBoing

I have at least 11 premium membership upgrades Iv'e acquired over the years and they never work. I am logged in, click "redeem, then it asks me to log in again, then I am taken to the homepage. Nothing. I tried on Chrome, Canary and FF. (highSierra) A while back I gave a few memberships to friends and they had similar experiences. Ultimately it's no huge deal for me, my experience doesn't change, but its a bummer when I am trying to loop people into this community and the onboarding reward fails ya know? I see quite a few posts here with similar experiences too. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I have a strange problem: Each time I try to upload a pdf-file into on of my new made instructables, it just happens nothing. I can upload pictures with the new and the old uploader, but when I try to upload a pdf-file, the file upload-dialog closes and nothing appears in the library or on the recent upload list. Sometimes instead of the pdf, the last uploaded picture appears on the list. I already tried deleting all the cookies and restarting the system, no success. Currently I'm working with WinXP and firefox, but I also tried from another computer with Opera and IE. I guess it's some kind of bug in the uploader, or not? Thanks Andreas

I was browsing ibles yesterday, and I came across this stunning piece of stupidity: Person 1: "d - b" (some interesting ASCII art) Person 2: "How do u get the backwards b" Me: "It's called D" It got me thinking afterwards that I should make this forum. So, what are the best examples of fails, stupidity, and general ignorance that you have witnessed?

Recently, I baked a cake that I had long awaited making. Just the right time. Just the right pan. Just the right season for pecans. It was a sure hit. Everything was beautiful, everything fell into place. The pictures were fabulous. The cake was gorgeous. This was going to be made in many homes. My tutorial was divine and thorough. So came the time to cut the cake. My parents, my son, daughter-in-law and husband were present. I was so proud! Everyone took a slice and began chewing. And chewing. They each had that 'Uh, yeah, it's, uhh, yeah." look on their faces. My son said "Oh, it's not that bad, after you chew it for a while." This was an epic disaster. This cake was so dry, I could have gagged. There were suggestions of soaking it in coffee. Covering it with whipped topping. I could have died. Needless to say, after tasting the crime that was this cake, there was no way it was going up on Instructables. What a waste of time and food product. Thank goodness the chickens loved it. Has anyone else ever experience such when trying a new recipe? Sign me, NOT serving this cake anytime soon.

Apparently, when I try to comment, it says "missing comment text" i am on an iPad, it used to work, but now it doesn't. Maybe it was some update? Idk. All I know is that it was working fine, then it failed. I have a temporary fix for comments on my instructables, but I can't comment on others! Please help! if you can, please fix this ridiculous problem. Thank you. ps. This has been going on for a while, so I think it's not just a one time glitch. if anyone is having the same problem, post to me in my orangeboard. I cleared my cache and it still doesn't work. I think it may be a bug brought about by an update or something. i have attached a picture for reference.

I have had this problem for years, yet I am only now reporting it because I have been a more frequent visitor to Instructables as of late. Every time I login with the correct password, I get a message saying that it is incorrect. So I take the 5 minutes to reset my password, but when I logout and then try to log back in (using the password that I just created) I get the same error message, saying that my password is incorrect. It's taken me a while to post something about it because it only takes about 5 minutes to reset my password. Still though, I shouldn't have to go through the trouble every time I want to login.

Hey all,I'm new here, but i've made a tonne of things from this site, and always forget to register. ANYWAY, i came across something a few weeks back, and i just cannot find it again. Please please please help me.I think i was looking for something on how to make LED's react to sound or possibly a guitar valve amp or a spectrum analyser, when i came across it. It was some sort of LED or filament bulb or something, that was being built as a decoration. I'll try to be as descriptive as i can here. The actual LED/Light thing wasn't an LED. It looked like a filament bulb, but instead of it just being a light, it made symbols, text etc etc. It wasn't like a segment led or anything led related, it looked more like a filament in it. The lamp itself was box shaped, and it looked like it was about 50mm x 50mm x 50mm. I can't even remember the name of what that lamp display type thing was. There were a few things i've come across that remind me of what that thing was. It was a bit like a display version of one square of one those old school alarm clocks where the numbers flipped down?Sorry if this is a bit vague, i'm hoping it might jog someone's memory?

Today i bought a used psp, but it won't turn on. When plugged in to charge, it won't charge. this is a shame because i spend $50 on it : ( when a pandora battery is inserted, the psp light turns on. But nothing else happens, the backlight doesn't light up, and no text is displayed (even when magic memory stick is used) i kind of need to make it work... thanks!

I've had my faithful Hot Rod Red Nintendo DS for a long time now... at least 4 years or more! A couple of years ago, my friend smashed the top screen with his forehead (don't ask...please, just don't). I sent it in to Nintendo for repairs and paid $70, and when it came back everything looked fine. This year, however, i have been noticing that something is wrong with the top screen. The colors aren't shaded right, like they don't blend into each other like they should. Also, every once in a while the screen flickers into false colors (light colors turn black, dark colors turn that freaky blue color). ALSO, every once in a while a shadow of what's happening on the bottom screen appears on the top screen. How weird is that? The best example is when I'm playing Animal Crossing, and as I'm walking around I can see a shadow of my character, the trees, buildings and everything on the top screen. They aren't colored in, just dark shadow images. It hasn't been that bad, but recently it's been becoming worse, and i'm afraid it's going to fail completely on me soon. I'd get a DS Lite, but a new DS, the DSi, is coming out sometime next year. Should I pay to get it fixed? Should I attempt fixing it myself and risk ruining it? Or should I just wait a whole year for the DSi, and hope that the screen holds out? Someone please help, my DS is pretty much my main console, and the discoloration and shadows drive me nuts when I'm playing MarioKart and such.

HELP! My mouse has a clicking problem. In that; whenever i try to click, it doesn't work, and i find myself having to click multiple times with some force in order to get a result, but it's not consistent. Sometimes, it works straight off, and sometimes it takes upwards of 20 clicks, in order to get my computer to do anything. The problem's also isolated to only the left button, the right one's fine. I reckon it's just dirt or something in the mouse, but it's really inconvenient. Any ideas on what i can do to fix it? can i fix it? To give you something pretty to look at, here's a brass cog: Thanks for all the replies. I've just had the case off, and cleaned the rollers. I looked at the switch and there was no dirt packed around it. I clicked the switch without the case on and it still didn't work, which leads me to believe that it's actually the switch that's damaged, and therefore it's not worth trying to fix.

Hey guys. Well, after seeing BM's latest Bullpup (L85A2), I thought I'd try my hand (again) a a new Bullpup. I intended to build an MTAR from Black Ops 2, but as you can see by my title, I failed / was unhappy with what I had. If you'd like to, go ahead and finish it. -The Red Book of Westmarch

Hello everyone!! It has been a while since I have posted anything but I am back. So, I am currently a freshmen in high school, taking block science. I just started chemistry and was very excited having prior knowledge and love for it. The teacher give us a paper with the Periodic Table of Elements on it. It was made by the Navy with a bunch of pictures of ships and what-not. So it seems legit. BUT, after closer inspection I discover this is as accurate as a un-modded Nerf gun. Many errors, ranging from spelling of elements to incorrect symbols and more. So I issue a challenge. Since I have only knowledge of Chemistry I hope that here on Instructable's there are people who know it from the back of their head and can and will find the errors in this catastrophic table. I am posting a picture of it for you to investigate, if you need it to be clearer or anything else just ask. I am very curious to see what else on this is wrong. I have already marked and fixed a few errors with a pen, but I want to see if there are more!

This is a thread for everyone to post pictures of their failed and/or unfinished projects. That way when people need ideas for something to build they can come to this thread and find someone's project and build it and improve on it and maybe make it work. There is one rule in this thread: IF YOU USE SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEA/MECH/PROJECT, YOU MUST GIVE THEM CREDIT. I will start the thread off with some pictures of my uncompleted projects. Here is the link to the album on photobucket because I find it easier to upload them there: http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg159/jollex/Uncompleted%20Projects/ Guest password is knexinnovation

I'm getting the feeling the people running this website don't really care about fixing it's problems, twice now I've tried to post a new topic and it fails to even show up, if these problems are not fixed and my 3rd attempt fails I will be contacting admins to remove my content.

Hi, i disassembled my full-automated coffeemachine as the push buttons for programs failed. The buttons are a line of rubber and the contacts on the platine are toothed while each rubber contact got tiny plates that bridge the contacts on the platine. I guess that the contact plates lack of conductivity - any suggestions what i can do to improve the conductivity? I thought bout buying contact foil and glue it over the rubber contacts, but i don't know, if this is the best solution.

People don't often post 3-layered guns, so I thought I would try one, and (as you can see by the title) it did not turn out so well. It got maybe 40 ft. of range, but that was an accented, as the gun never shot again. It was a good attempt, and is not too ugly, but, it is still a failed project. I just thought I would share it with you guys. Keep an eye out for more projects from me! -E Pluribus Unum

Hello everybody I have not posted a KNEX gun for a while and have not made anything that worked that good but this is something I made a month ago that failed but I kind of liked how it looked and some other aspects of it. I know this isn't innovative or anything but it looked kind of cool and I have not seen something just like this before. Now what made this a failure was first the turret was held on by a rubber band. This could have been fixed if I just put a longer rod in but then that would look weird. Also this has a slide trigger that I came up with but I did not take the time to fix it so that it worked right and it was mounted wrong so it rubbed on my hand when I held the gun.

When I try to upload pictures using the new style flash based uploader I get the message "http error" for each file and they won't upload. This uploader has never worked for me. Old uploader works fine. Using Firefox on Linux - no luck with other browsers either.

All I want to do is simply make a MMPR Green Ranger Helmet. No where on instructables is there a tut, nowhere on youtube is a tut, nowhere on google is a tut. It's always Halo. The balloon trick didn't work for me. I blew the balloon as big as it would go and it didn't even cover my head at the end. So I wasted a balloon, 2 hours, and alot of newspaper to fail. Can someone please do me a tut so I can do this? I will be grateful as hell.
