Waking up on Father's Day

Good morning, world! The boys woke me up around 9:30 this morning, gave me cards (#2 had made his at school) and a big Fruit-and-Nut Toblerone. When I came downstairs, they worked together to grill some waffles for my breakfast (their first time using the grill without supervision, and they didn't set fire to any of the waffles!)Now they've sat me in front of the PC to "play on your Instructables" while they go and get dressed so they can take me to the DVD shop to hire a disc for us to watch together. Apparently it's going to be something called Dragon Wars. So, what are you doing for your fathers, or what did your sproglets do for you?

Trouble entering Father's Day contest

So I just made an instructable today on a body scrub and spray for Father's Day but it won't let me enter it in the contest :/ I tried the craft contest and that worked fine but when I try to add it to the Father's Day contest it says, "Sorry, your instructable isn't eligible; it may have been published before the contest entry date." But it wasn't (*>.<)

This girl recently died at my school, You may have heard.

It is Really bad when you feel you have to carry a weapon. This girl and her two younger siblings and father recently died, by her father, and people started a rumor that i was making fun of her and her family after the tragedy, i wasn't, that is just messed up, it is even more messed up how you cannot walk around and feel safe at school, and people want to kick your ass for something you didn't do. I didn't even know the girl or her family and i felt bad. People are mean. You may have heard about it on the news. http://www.q13fox.com/pages/news_story_landing_page/?Memorial-Service-Thursday-For-Slain-Chil=1&blockID;=258526&feedID;=144

cycling machine for father with traumatic brain injury

I am seeking a very resourceful, intelligent builder.  My 79 y.o. father suffered a traumatic brain injury 15 mos ago.  He is minimally conscious and immobile.  We get him into a wheelchair but he gets no movement.  This machine will cycle his legs while he lies in bed.  It is over $9,000 and Medicare does not pay for the device.  I am in leaving a web site address that has information about the machine.  I have alot of other information if anyone might be interested.  http://www.medimotion.co.uk/motomed_models_letto.php I realize that this is a long shot but I thought I might try.

Who is Luke's REAL father? See details before you answer, PLEASE... Answered

OK, so when Anakin meets back up with Padme, he's been gone for ~1 year, right?  Problem.   Padme is pregnant, but hasn't delivered yet.  Logically, that means that Anakin is not actually the father.  Right so far? So who is Luke's real father?  Some random guy?  If we believe that the Force is a power that everyone has that must be cultivated, his father can be pretty much anyone.  If we believe the medichlorion count interpretation of the Force, however, he would have to have a powerful Jedi as a father.  Yoda has been Padme's protector, right?  I don't think I'll follow this logic any further.

Electronic tether to tether my father's rollator to him

My father lives independently but has poor mobility and dementia.  He frequently walks away from his rollator and then gets trapped when he realises he has left it elsewhere in his home.  A physical tether would be impractical and might actually increase his risk of falling.  I think he would benefit from an electronic tether that would sound an alarm whenever he moved more than, say, three feet from the rollator. There does not appear to be a commercially-available product to meet such a need. Giving him a passive RFID tag to wear and attaching a light-weight alarm to the rollator that polls the tag every few seconds might generate a workable solution, but I don't have sufficient experience with RFID to generate a solution in a reasonable time-scale.  I would probably favour CMOS timers and logic over a microcontroller for similar reasons. Does anyone have a project that could be adapted, or expertise that could be applied, to this task?

Should I bother with this lathe?

My father-in-law told me that he has an old lathe in the basement, it was his father-in-law's. I've been wanting to get a lathe, but not really being able to afford anything, but I'm not sure if this is any good or even worth trying to work with. I don't know what's missing (but I know things are missing). Missing parts may be in the basement, but I have no clue what I'm looking for. Edit: I got the picture of just the lathe to upload finally.

Found in my father-in law's  old  tool box. They aren't metal or magnetic. Possibly ceramic. The only information printed on the side is 'Made in Canada'.  They fit together into a unit of four.

Math riddle? Answered

My friend asked me this one, I couldn't figure it out but I think the question itself is somehow flawed.Anyway, so here it goes: A kid has to buy a toy of 100 Rupees, he takes Rs.50 from his father and 50 from his mother. Later when he goes to the store he finds that the toy is only 97 rupees, he buys the toy and 3 rupees are left, still with me? Now he goes to his mother and father and out of those 3 rupees gives one rupee to his father, one rupee to his mother and keeps the remaining 1 rupee aside (not for himself). Now here is the question, as he has already given 1 rupee to his mother and father each, he has remaining 49 rupees to pay each one, so, my friend asks that add 49 to 49, 98, and then add to it the remaining 1 rupee he had kept aside, 99. Where did the remaining 1 rupee go? I just can't understand what is he trying to ask, the calculation he just did, I think, has nothing to do with amount the kid has to pay or paid.

Can not enter contest, message says my instructable was posted before the contest started

I am trying to enter the father's day contest with this, https://www.instructables.com/id/Supersized-Jenga-game/ But I keep getting a message that says my instructable was posted before the contest started. When I was posting the instructable the toy contest and epilog contest had the same message. So I published the instructable and then I tried to enter the contests. The epilog and toy contests worked fine but the fathers day contest continues to give me the same rejection message.

Dragon Samurai chapter 2

Hi! I decided I would post every chapter I do instead of just the first so here's the second chapter! Enjoy! Chapter 2 The traveller After eating some delicious noodles we decided to go to my house. I expected my mother would shout at me because I hadn’t made my bed, but when I got home there was a very different response. My mother looked very frightened. Suddenly my father walked in. He too was a samurai. He was dressed in samurai’s armour and had a katana and a wakizashi (Samurai sword and dagger) which were placed in their sheaths. He only wore the armour in an emergency and in times of war and the expression on his face told me that there was bad news. “Pack your bags, Ryu,” he said. “It’s time for you to go to the dojo.” “What?” I asked in disbelief. “Go and pack your bags,” he repeated. “Hiroshi, you must also get ready. Go home to your father who is waiting for you.” “Yes, sir,” he replied. Hiroshi never questioned my father’s decisions. “Father?” I started. “Do not question me, Ryu. Now go and get ready.” Hiroshi ran out the door and I went to my room and opened my cupboard. Inside were all my kimonos and my bokken (wooden sword). I grabbed my favourite ones and came back to where my father was waiting. I didn’t have time to say goodbye to any of my friends. We walked outside where my father’s horse stood ready. “Hello, Diamond,” I said. He whinnied when he saw me and put his head under my arms so that I could pat him. I scratched his ears while my father prepared the saddle. We named him Diamond because of the diamond shaped mark on his forehead. The white stallion was very rare and my father was lucky to have found him. I still remember the first time we met Diamond. My father and I were travelling on a large dirt road when it started to rain. The road quickly turned to mud so we took shelter under some trees. Hearing a sad whinny, I looked around and found a white stallion lying in the mud. I turned my father’s gaze to the horse and we walked over to it. It was only half awake and had a huge cut in its side. We brought it back to our stables and healed its wounds. It became fond of us so we decided to keep him. He was easily the fastest horse in the city. Back to the present, we set out on the road to the dojo. As we left the city I could see almost everything from the palace down to the pier. The gardens at the top of the hill were full of flowers and shrubs. It was bordered on two sides by a thick hedge. The pagoda was in the middle for people to visit. I realized that I had never actually visited the garden. There were many things I hadn’t visited in the last fourteen years. I would miss the beach with its crystal clear waters and sandy shores. I’d miss the constant movement of the waves. I’d miss my mother and younger sister. I’d especially miss all the friends I had. Leaving Hiroshi would hurt dearly. As we travelled I helped Diamond’s tail to flick away the flies. Diamond galloped so swiftly that it was comfortable riding him. The white stallion sped past villages and mountains until we arrived at a forest. The entrance to the forest was shrouded in mist and there was complete silence. Entering cautiously we heard a weak yelp. My father stopped and stared in the direction of the sound. I dismounted and walked toward the faint voice. My father told me to take my bokken. He always thought that curiosity was a great teacher. I got closer and heard a twitch. Behind a small bush a girl was lying unconscious. She looked about my age- fourteen or fifteen, maybe? She had a deep cut in here wrist that seemed to be from sometime of weapon. She had a large bump on her head which must have left her unconscious. The thing that really surprised me was her hair. It was the colour of gold. I called my father over to see. He stared at the girl and then picked her up. “The healers from the dojo will be able to heal her wounds,” he said. “Put her on your lap and make sure she does not fall of the horse.” I laid her on the horse and put my bokken between me and the saddle holding the girl in place. We continued our journey through the woods without another word. Halfway through the forest the girl started to wake up. She had crystal blue eyes that stared straight at me. “Danger,” she said before drifting back into unconsciousness. I had a bad feeling about this.

Smurfs (bizarre)

When I take a holiday in Wales we always listen to "The Smurfs" (Father Abraham in Smurfland) - it's a tradition. Hence the phrase "The Smurfs have finished" meaning "Someone change the record". If you've not been exposed to this yet, see here: Then there's "Smurfing beer" - quote: "you don't get drunk and it isn't dear" (It isn't beer) www.youtube.com/watch The Pinoccio song questions - quote "Pinoccio, Pinoccio, why are you made of wood?" www.youtube.com/watch The annoying but up-beat Dippety-Do song: www.youtube.com/watch Looking at the album cover I wonder exactly what happens when the floating-head of Father Abraham appears in Smurfland - do they panic and start singing lest he smite them? (Notice the bad image job where the top of a mushroom-house has been cropped off on the right)

I found a poem I wrote from 3rd grade!

On my computor, I found a poem I wrote when I was in 3rd grade! Here it is: Bother Oh the people you bother, You sister, your father, Your brother, Your mother, And they always say, "GO OUT AND PLAY!!" And I say no "What if it'll snow?" No one will know Until the next day. Oh the people you bother, Your sister, your father, You brother, Your mother, And they leave the room. So I take out the vacuum. I sucked up their cheeks, and I sucked up their nose, I went outside and squirt them with a hose. And then they say, "GO OUT AND PLAY!!!" And I say no "What if it will snow?" No one, no thee, No more than three, Will know until the next day. I guess it's pretty good for a 3rd grader!

How to teach a sxi-year-old boy?

I am now having a part-time job, which is teaching a kid with simple mathe and chinese. The boy's father has a high expectation with him, so I cannot just play games with the boy and I am supposed to teach him something in the textbook. And after teaching him for a week, I found that it is really difficult for him to focus on what i am saying. Like when I was drawing apples and telling him how to count numbers, he was completely concerntrated. And once I finished talking, he started to ask questions like why Tom Cat always chases Jerry Mouse.... Also, sometimes he interrupt me and ask why he has something that other girls don't have. I was so embarrassed because his father was in the next room. Sincerely, how to teach him?

My father (an electrical engineer) told me that if a capacitor is charged and than shorted out than it can fail, possibly with explosive results.
