Someone who is sure they are right is posting in one of my instructables. The project works, and I have done all the math there is to do, but this guy is totally convinced that despite the fact that my design works perfectly and always has, that his math proves it shouldn't and/or is doomed to failure. I really don't want the banter that is there to stay there, and personally I'd just like him blocked from posting anything further to my instructable. I made the analogy of the wright brothers making the airplane, and while everyone was looking up at it in flight, he was on the ground pointing out how it was impossible, and attempting to prove it to everyone. It's neither constructive nor helpful, and I'd like it gone. Someone please help me in how I go about this. I don't think it's gone to the point of abuse, but it's close. I've flagged things as "not nice" before, and nothing was ever done about it.

Here's an interesting contest that's up for a couple more weeks: the Smellfighters Swirl Innovation Contest . The goal is to identify some funky domestic smell that you could do without and propose a solution for it. From the look of the entries so far it shouldn't be too tough to have a fighting chance. Enter it by Dec. 21 for a shot at the top prize of 2,000 Euro! You guys are great at coming up with ideas so this should be easy to check out and try. Give it a shot.

Ok the spam in the Q&A section is out of hand. Almost to the point of being a denial of service attack. So much so there is no way to keep up with trying to report it. Be nice if we could report a user directly. Alternatly it would be nice to see restrictions implemented for new users. Such that they can only post a limited number of threads per day.

I know there are some Dutch knexers here. Since Holland is quite small, maybe we can have a war or share ideas. If you are Dutch tell me and if you're interested in a war say it. Since this is ment for Dutch people i will now continue in Dutch. Use google translate if you want to know whats written in Dutch (it's just the age, experience and requirements) P.S. If you want to say something, post your comment in both Dutch and English if possible

I enjoy playing with these things. I am having my birthday here pretty soon and will probably play with these things. I am asking for imput on these questions: 1. Ideas for cheap and easy face and head protection and other safety precautions. 2. Your own set of rules that I can use to help me make a highly thought through and fair set of my own. 3. Tell me if you like to do this kind of stuff and give me your knoweldge from experience. (I have a picture of noodle swords here just so you would know what I'm talking about.)

So I have 2 friends who got in a fight about a week ago, after school, and off campus. Someone videoed it, and put it on their facebook account. One of the fighters got suspended for school for a week for the fight, despite it being after school, and not on campus. Do you personally think this is an unreasonable punishment, or is it? What do you think of this situation? I want to hear your opinions here, and encourage a good discussion.

Conoy Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; is voting to avoid flying surveillance remote controlled aircrafts above their skies. In a time when the United States government approves the use of drones to spy on the civilian population, I have found interesting how people are responding. This municipal ordinance definitely will not stop the use of drones on this area if deemed necessary for our national security but I wonder if this could be the start of a trend.

Hello, I am building a beer pong table and would like to have a button that when hit would cause my school's fight song to play. I am confident i can do the wiring and all i just have no idea where to begin. What i am perplexed by is how to get my fight song on some sort of chip. Any ideas of what type of chip i am looking for? I really appreciate any help on this.

Is there a way to shut off the slideshow option and see it like the rest of instructables? It seems to be slow, clumsy and eye-iritating to the point that it's not worth fighting with to look at. Feel free to disagree and post your opinion.

I've been working on a game where you choose whether you're Homer Simpsons from "The Simpsons," or Peter Griffin from "Family Guy." It is very simple, Choose your player, 2-player game, 2 attacks each. Homer: Duff Belch D'OH! Peter: Piercing Stare HAHAHA I will post a sample sprite of an attack if you want. Should I bother posting code when I'm done? _,,_ ____ / \ /____\ | | /O__O | M _OO | (__ | ( / __\ | /__. | | \___/ | \ | \_/\/\ | (..)| /__\ | |______| | | | / \ | | \ | | | | | | | |_| |_| ///_____| | | | | | /| | | | | | _/ | \\\______/// | | | \ / | | | | || | | | | | || | |___|___| _+___||___+_ |____\__\ /_____||_____\ (Copy+Paste into Notepad.exe and switch to Lucida Console font for best results)

As you know (or don't know), a while ago I came up with an idea for a place to keep arguments hidden. Some of you agreed, while others did not. I terminated the War Zone after asking Eric about the idea. He said it was best if people just told him who was fighting so he could temporarily ban the offender's account. As of late, I've noticed some fighting around Instructables and I am beginning to have second thoughts about it's termination. Not to go against Eric's wishes, but I feel that banning is only a temporary solution. I think banning could work, but it might also backfire. The offenders could feel that the other got him/her banned, and worsen the grudge. If the War Zone works as planed, I believe the offenders can come to terms without being banned and hopefully stop fighting.I just want your honest opinions on this matter. It would be arrogant of me to believe the rest of the community feels this way. This is the original idea:Welcome to the Hidden War Zone. Here you can settle disputes with other members privately, without disrupting the rest of the community. Every once and a while, two or more members feud with each other. As this site retains a friendly image, other members detest the violence that ensues. Eventually these feuds move from each other's orangeboards into the public forums, dragging other members into the conflict. In order to avoid this, I have created a war zone that is sheltered from the public eye. Think of it as fighting in a barren field as opposed to a populated city. If you're going to fight, at least try to limit the number of civilian casualties. When the dust settles, truces, reparations, and atonements can take place. When you are done, please visit the Peace Forum. You must war either two ways:Chaotically battle in the comments.orKeep differing disputes separated by steps. (ie. Step one: Goodhart vs. Kiteman. Step two, Adrian Monk vs KK, Skate. et al.)If you do add a step, please hit "save and finish later" or "finish later". This will keep the War Zone hidden. If you must fight, do it here.I truly hope this will never be used, but I've made it as a precaution. Send me a PM if you wish to be a collaborator.~Spl1nt3rC3ll

It's winter and snow is everywhere (well where I live there is) People are sledding and making snow angels. And of course my favorite part- Snowball fights. Snow in ball form whizzing thru the air towards people. Me loving to build stuff and loving to improve it to, I wanted to make something that could throw snowballs better than any person. I have an idea for a couple launchers and cannons but I want to see other people's ideas. So post anything, a launcher, a cannon, a catapult, a chucker. Anything that can accompany someone in a snowball fight. So people POST.

Ok, This Idea is either really cool or the dumbest one Ive had yet! What if They made a movie about aliens coming to destroy earth by infecting us with an alien virus that makes us turn into zombies, so the Worlds military makes Super advanced robots to fight them! and because all of the military personnel are fighting aliens The world erupts in mass anarchy and pirates start to sail the sea and attack coastal cities! So chivalrous ninja protect the people from the prates and aliens. But then the Anti-virus the Drug companies makes to stop the virus in the infected mutates and causes certain people to turn into vampires! I think it would be cool but it might also be a bit much! :)

Last weekend, Makers Local held a Build Night event, sponsored by the Instructables team! Armed with Bare Conductive paint pens and a couple of pizzas, we got to making! The first thing we noticed was that the conductive paint pens were only rated to 12VDC. What happens if we took that higher? (More info can be found here) One of our members though it would be neat to use the conductive paint to create an electronic sword-fighting game! It turned out really well, and his Instructables write-up was really well-made: check it out here! Another member designed a system to dispense soda in style! He wrote up an awesome Instructable about his system here. One final project started as an attempt to make a touch-sensitive piano using the conductive paint, but the piano ended up using aluminum foil due to some inconsistencies in the resistivity of the paint. It still turned out pretty neat! Below are some pictures from the event! Thanks to Instructables and all who attended!

Around 200 people in Washington DC got a shock after a maroon hummer got caught in the cross-fire of a friendly snowball fight. The driver got out and pulled a gun. The driver was a cop... The cop, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, was later filmed admitting the over-zealous action, saying: "I did it because I got hit with snowballs." Assistant Chief Pete Newsham said: "We have to see what the entire circumstance was. But just a snowball fight, not in my mind, that doesn't seem a situation where we would pull out a service weapon." The officer has been placed on desk duty pending the results of an investigation, which could be finished in as quickly as "weeks". "The Star Wars kid has gotten a lot of shite over the years, mainly because he's not a professional. He simply didn't have the training necessary to pull off that fight sequence. On the other hand, there are lots of professionals who do have the training and simply lack the means to wield it. I'm talking about people like Aragorn, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Westley. If somehow you could only put a lightsaber in these fearsome warriors hands...Ugh, blogging. What am I even talking about? Let's just be ourselves, you guys. I found a bunch of clips on YouTube where people took fight sequences from other movies and overlaid lightsabers on top of them using magic, and they are hilarious, and you're gonna love it."Link

My friends and I all realized that there are a lot of relatively recent movies that none of us had seen. We're now trying to watch as many of them as we can. For example, last night we watched Fight Club. We were wondering if anyone on Instructables has any good recommendations, or anything similar to discuss.

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."-Buckminster FullerThis is such a great quote- that's what we always strive to do. Everyone who makes, builds, or creates should probably adopt this as their motto, because such paradigm shifts are the only real way to change the world. Oh, and Buckminster Fuller is totally awesome.

Have you been buried by the American snowpocalypse? (Or is it snowmageddon?) We Brits thought we had it tough recently, but thirty-eight inches? That's almost a metre! There are quite a few pictures (more pictures) and stories on the BBC, even another Washington snowball fight (no guns, this time). What about iblers, though? Can you get to your workshops?

Antibiotic resistance is becoming a real problem, and I figured that the crafty and scientific community could help. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/help-fund-and-add-incentive-drug-companies-create-new-and-better-antibiotics-fight-rising-super/nwTTbVX3 I started this petition on the white house website. Note: This is at no benefit to me, I am just trying to bring awareness to this issue.

Is there a way to make a mouse to fit my hand or anyone else's? Maybe use arduino to help connect all the buttons together or any other type of controllers. It would be like making a custom fighting stick or headphones. Either by making a totally different mouse or by modding an existing mouse would be good.

Engineer, Machinist, Rigger or really clever Tinkerer who can be themselves on camera for a new Spike TV show about warriors throughout history. Position would entail talking about and setting up tests for weapons in fight laboratory. May be asked about their opinion on certain show content. Need someone between 25-35 due to their viewing figures.

In this peashooter competition in the UK, some entrants have modified their basic tubes with some high-tech parts. This one uses a laser sight and a gyroscope to help aim. All of this is fine with the organizers who have allowed laser sights for a decade.Even so, the winner this year was someone with a regular peashooter so it still is quite a bit about skill. Pea shooters fight it out for world championships via BoingBoing

Head over to my blog to check out what I've done: Walking Stick Bludgeon If you're not using it for decoration, fending off a bear, or fighting ninjas, you've added some nice grip for when you are going for a hike!

I've already started working on my Halloween costume, which is a scaled down version of a giant Japanese fighting robot otherwise known as a Gundam Suit. I've finished everything except the helmet, which I am having serious trouble trying to build. The attached image is what I am trying to replicate. If anyone can post pictures or make an instructable and link me to it, it would be appreciated. Thank you! -Tomcat94
