Play Guitar with cut off finger tip

I cut of my left middle finger tip, and wanted to protect it while healing, and wanted to extend my finger some way so as not to have to retrain my old brain and finger, so did what is shown on the MS Word attachment (Text  and photo's showing "how to" with low cost materials).  Now to get back to playing the guitar!!  Hope this helps someone else by saving time and energy on poor or expensive options.

Help!

The bassist of my band quit, and now my I have to be the bassist and vocalist at the same time. I'm pretty good at playing the bass, but I can't seem to stretch my fingers out that long.... Anybody have any idea on how to increase finger-stretching capabilities? Any advice would be appreciated.... Oh and I can't sing properly if I'm playing an instrument, so any advice on how to sing while playing a guitar/bass would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bluetooth finger print reader

I need a design (better yet an operating) hand held, battery operated bluetooth enabled finger print reader. That is, the bluetooth enabled finger print reader would store one finger print and then compare the person usign the reader to the print stored. If the prints matched it woudl send out an approval code. I am sure someone out there could make one. How can I contact that person?

Another step towards human cyborgs - the finger drive.

A Finnish computer programmer who lost one of his fingers in a motorcycle accident has made himself a prosthetic replacement with a USB drive attached.Jerry Jalava uses the 2GB memory stick, accessed by peeling back the "nail", to store photos, movies and programmes. The finger is not permanently attached to his hand, so it can be easily left plugged into a computer when in use.Mr Jalava says he is already thinking about upgrading the finger to include more storage and wireless technology."I'm planning to use another prosthetic as a shell for the next version, which will have removable fingertip and RFID tag," he wrote on his blog, ProtoBlogr.net.Half of Mr Jalava's left ring finger had to be amputated last summer after he crashed into a deer while riding his motorbike near Helsinki. He says he was inspired to create the unique storage device when doctors treating him joked that he should have a USB "finger drive" after finding out that he was a software developer. More is apparently available on the inventor's blog, but it keeps timing out for me.BBC story

Human finger model movements DC activated.

Hello good folk I have been working on some artificial finger extensions and retraction via a DC motor. An H-bridge is used which is connected to a dial switch. The tendons are braided fishing line. It has proven worthy during the prototype stage. The advantage of my design is that a single DC motor of servo can control movement and grasping of the entire finger. This design particularly excels when compared to the most advanced models at the moment.... The Shadow hand would be an example. Extremley capable yet the muscle collection to the rear of the hand makes their model obsoliete even before it was created. Much work needs to be done on their model to make it effective. I apologise for the pics (camera phone) as the detail leaves much to be desired. This is just a functional model of the unit, so it's not ment to look pretty. It only purpose is to serve as the concept base as I was trying to get the tendons/joint configuration worked out... You should notice the holes in each section, the tendon passes within the finger segments within a sheath embedded inside the epoxy segment. The tendon is only exposed at the joints which also need to be finished with a exterior protectant layer. I am posting these as an example of the funtioning finger. However I would like to post videos at a later date.

This is Why You Don't Stick Fingers into Fans (WARNING: BLOOD)

WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD WARNING BLOOD Enough? Good. I am now working on a project that involves soldering. As usual I set up my extremely powerful fume extractor (I didn't make an I'ble on that, a different homemade one...).  I never put some kind of protector on it, and today I accidentally stuck my finger in one of the fans. If you're wondering whether you should put a guard on a fan, the answer is yes. Why? It takes a long time to type forum topics with one hand... "Nahhh... I'm going to be careful. Why would I even get my fingers close to the fans?" Picture are in the comments section, in case you want to learn what happens why half of your fingernail gets pulled off...

Vibrating Finger Ring Creation

I'm looking for someone to build me a finger ring that has some kind of vibration/impulse capability that is pre-set to vibrate at certain times and/or intervals throughout the day. I will create a website where the user enters in when, or at what durations, they want it to vibrate. This is then somehow sent to the ring and it vibrates accordingly.  Looks are not really important but not being bulky is desirable. Is this possible? Let me know your thoughts and cost estimates and I'll respond asap.  Thanks for reading.

I'M SORRY

Hey, just wanted to let you all know that i broke my right pointer finger. To all of you who like the guns i build, i'm sorry but i cant really build with a cast. I can put easy pieces together and such, but when it comes to snapping in a bunch of connectors i can't do it. I broke it when it got slammed in a car door. (the car is the lexus that i took the pics for my hell slayer on) My stupid sister saw her friend and jumped out of the car to see her and slammed the door just as i was getting out. I was just stepping out and my finger got slammed in the door. i had to go get a freaking splint and it sucks :( I can still make some stuff. I get my splint off in about 2 weeks. Then it will be sore, and i will have to have a wrap on it for another week.

Your Best Trick!

Hi Guys ^.^ Just wondering what is your best trick? hardest trick? and how you do it? Everyone has different techniques so your way could help others do the trick... :) My best / favourite / hardest trick is a triple K-flip into dark slide shuv-it into 5-0 grind with an impossible out. The K-flip I do like a normal kick flip but pop higher / kick harder, also one has to catch it before it makes the 4th revolution. The shuv-it is tricky as it goes 270degrees and 1/2 a flip, fingers go in the center and just behind and under 1 back wheel. Catch it and land manual on the rail then set up for a back foot impossible. Fingers like a K-flip but the back finger more to the toe side so as to hook/pull the board round.  Pop hard and swing the back finger upwards while at the same time moving the front finger out the way, as the board comes back round catch with the front finger and land it. Hope it helps anyone stuck with those tricks. Now I want to hear from you! =D Mountain Island xx

It's been this for a long time, just noticed it when i Compare my hands with someone. I really wouldn't ask this to how to straighten them hard flat and fingers joined. But my Commander in CAT(citizenship advancement training), and many of my fellow cadets noticed it too. I told my commander that it's been this since i was young, he said to flatten it to a wall, its more than 2 weeks on pressing it to the wall and my fingers are flat, except when i lift them off the wall. i got some pics below, tell me if you need more from other angle or something :) Now every time i salute, my fingers is always noticed. Any help? (they even called me tentacles because of it) Cheers!  -aye

frog fingers/gloves?

Hi! i'm working on a frog costume among several animals for halloween, and the frog hands have me stuck. The plans are for a red eyed tree frog, so it needs 4 long digits, with slightly larger tips for the distal pads/suckers, and only a small amount of web between the digits. I don't think it will be a problem to settle for 5 fingers, I'm more concerned with length, shape, and the maybe the webbing. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated. Thanks, David

Have you ever put a 9volt battery on your tongue? You will get a shock, or a charge on your tongue. How come if you put it on your finger or arm, you can not feel the same charge? How can I get that charge to be felt on your finger?

Code of determination the position of my finger in a screen

Hello guys I am so happy to be in this big helpful community. So I am student and I love electronics, this is why I am working on a touch screen working with the technology of projected capacitive sensors using, of course the Arduino Unoto determine the position of my finger on the screen and show it on an interactive screen (like the project of the 3D tracking interface https://makezine.com/projects/a-touchless-3d-tracking-interface/). Because I want to know more about this domain also to share this project with the geek of electronics in Instructables and learn more about Arduino . So please guys I need an example of an Arduino sketch to show the position of my finger. I know that's I didn't talk about the details, so if you want to make this project happen , this is my Facebook account ( https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100017432321426)

Momentary flashing lights

What is the easiest/simplest method of making a flashing light (preferably a small string of LED's or a piece of EL tape) connected to a momentary push switch? no timer or any other complication just lights that will flash on and off until the button is released. i want to make a flashing indicator light and switch small enough to mount on a ring that i can wear on my pointing finger so that the button hits the back of my hand as i straighten my finger to point and the light flashes only until i curl my finger to release the switch.

How do you type?

Well my computer teacher says always to keep your hands in the home row position(look at picture.) and not to do move your fingers around just to move them up and down to the according key. By the way the home row is.. a s d f g h j k l ; Now is this a better way to type or just to move your fingers around. another explanation: he says to keep your fingers on a s d f g h j k l ; and then curl them down or up to hit the key. Hopefully the pictures will clear it up.

Halloween: Spindly finger costume hands help

Hi! Looking for any ideas on an easy to do version of the gloves/hands in the attached pic. They don't have to have articulation, just be relatively sturdy. I have approximately zero cosplay/crafting experience so I'd appreciate detailed thoughts. If this isn't the right place, I apologize for my newbie-ness.

X-Ray your finger with stickytape!

Scientists have discovered the cheapest source of potentially-useful X-rays.Peeling sticky tape emits X-rays strong enough to scan a human finger, a remarkable experiment has shown.US researchers used a motorised peeling machine to unwind a roll of Scotch tape at a rate of 3cm per second.By placing their apparatus in a vacuum, they measured X-rays strong enough to X-ray a human digit, according to a report in Nature journal. It is well known that unwinding sticky tape produces sparks of light that can be seen in the dark by the naked eye. This phenomenon, known as "triboluminescence", is produced by the friction generated when two surfaces rub against each other. The study, by Carlos Camara and Juan Escobar, of the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, provides evidence for the phenomenon, which was first observed more than 50 years ago. Dremel Wound Question?

Quick Question: I was using a Dremel Rotary tool yesterday with one of the rough sanding bits. While I was using it, the tool slipped off the edge of the wood I was sanding and landed on my middle finger, stupidly, I wasn't wearing gloves like usual cause' I was in a hurry and had left my gloves on the upper level of the house. Anyway, I got it off my finger and turned off the Dremel immediatly and it slowed down fairly quick. Now, I got a small wound on my finger, not bad, but I wanted to ask if I should be worried about it being infected since the dremel bit probably had wood dust all over it.

This normal?

I just got into soldering, and I've been haveing a very bad problem of burning myself. Within the first 10 minutes of using it, I accidently touched the tip of the iron to my finger, and it HURT! And then jsut now, I was soldering, and my mom called me, so I kinda of jumped, brushing my finger against the newly melted solder. Is this normal for beginners?

Holy moley! Pneumatic mouth cannon!

I don't know how much more random fun you can find. I discovered this while at a buffet with my girlfriend and her brother on his birthday. Anyway, I was finished after two plates and a salad, and was balling the straw wrapper between my fingers. A tiny piece, probably a half-inch by a half-inch, ripped off in my hands. Staring at this little fragment, I put down the rest of the wrapper. I balled up the fragment, and put it between my fingers in such a manner that when I blew, it sent the fragment flying at great velocity. Thank God no one noticed or was killed. I have yet to chronograph this little amazing scientific breakthrough, but I estimate about 25 fps. Cool, huh? Anyway, rip off a tiny corner of a napkin or straw wrapper. Ball it up. Touch your thumb and index fingers on both hands together like you're rubbing something off of them. Put the tips of them together, and there should be a little diamond-ish hole between the four fingers. That's where the ball of paper goes. Put the ball in that hole, and pinch gently. Put your lips up to the hole, and blow. If nothing comes out, good! Blow to ready this little weapon, and release the pinch of your fingers to fire. Awesome, huh?

Ok guys so Basically I have a plastation 2 console in my arcade machine, I want to be able to turn it on via a arcade pushbutton on the outside of my machine. Is this possible? what type of push solenoid do I need....eg. 12v? size etc.... and can I use a momentary contact pushbutton to power on the solenoid momentarily to do a single press of the playstation 2 power button? Thanks for any help... P.S. I have very little knowledge of robotics or servos and solenoid usage....but I can solder, wire, etc....

Can I mod the shoulder buttons on a PS3/PS4

I lost a good portion of my left hands fingers in a workshop accident 3 months ago. I just recently picked up my controller and tried to play. I have one inch left on my index finger and 1 1/2"  left on my middle finger...those L1/L2 shoulder buttons are a PITA to reach. Can I somehow mod my controller to move the buttons counterclockwise so they are more on the left side of the controller near the D-Pad? For the PS3 I can probably buy a USB mod stick and use the XBox One controller but the PS4 has the touch area smack dab in the middle of the controller. I have a bunch of spare parts/controllers for the PS3 / PS4 that I bought...in case I needed to mod my buttons. Any ideas?

Laptop touch screen from webcam?

I had a quick look around for something like this, but couldn't find anything. Place some kind of mirror / lens / prism over the webcam at the top of my laptop's screen so that it can register the screen itself + software to track finger(s) touching the screen. = (multi)touch screen. The angle would be easy, figuring the distance of the finger from the camera would be trickier... You might not get amazingly good resolution, but it should be enough for iPhone type scrolling sweeps and simple button pushing etc. Thoughts?

Boing-E-Boing

Boing-E-Boing is a cool trick for the yo-yo. It is fairly simple, but still looks very amazing. First, go into a split bottom mount. To do this, throw a sleeper and go into a brain twister mount, but instead of bringing you throw hand under the yo-yo, swing the yo-yo over your index finger of your throw hand and it lands on the string. That is a split bottom mount. After the split bottom mount is in place, pass the yo-yo forward once by switching your arms. Now the yo-yo is in the middle of two strings. Move your index finger at the top up and down. Watch as the yo-yo bounces between the two strings because it has nowhere else to go!

Yo-yo

Hello, I have been trying to do the trick Boing-E-Boing for a while now, but I just can't get the split-bottom mount right. Whenever I swing it around my finger, it just bounces off the string instead of staying on it. Could someone help me?

(hmmm, you didn't think I was leaving or anything, huh? I will leave when they pry my cold dead fingers from my keyboard LOL (with apologies to Charlton Heston). I am going to start simple.....I am going to make this look a little better and also more useful at least, hopefully. I also want to test a few ideas with it. Then on to bigger and better things....Added more to the BOX, added a few more pictures.....

Accelerometer glove for HID development platform

Anyone interested in a glove with accelerometer built-into every finger and data collected via BLE processor? Would it interest you to develop HID algorithm to replace a mouse for gaming or control to a rc car, or a drone? I'm working on something like this and want to gauge interest level.

Embedded joystick in Laptop

Hey guys :) On November 22nd I had a bike accident in which I got my left hand caught in my front disc rotor and I lost my ring finger, pinky and top middle finger. I've had my middle finger and pinky reattached, but my pinky is permanently pinned so im getting it off anyways... Basically i'm an extremely avid biker riding trials, dh, freeride and slopestyle, My other passion is my computers and newly arduino and robotics. Im new to arduino though and do not have enough experience to take on this project (Plus the amount of morphine i'm on doesnt help either :P   ) Since I have no effective ring or pinky finger I cannot do my excessive gaming on my laptop (As any 16yr old...), For christmas I got a Razer Nostromo allowing me to game again but not very portable as I use and am getting a gaming laptop (Celvo P170EM) The laptop has 2 hdd bays, so I was thinking about using a PSP joystick in the left alt key space.  How could I go about connecting it to the motherboard or internal USB? To act as either analog or digital joystick?  Would this be able to convert into all games as a form of W,S,A,D keys or Arrow Keys? How expensive would it be? And what are the chances someone can make this for me and I can simply install it and solder it to the inside usb legs? Im not sure of how hard it is to build this into the 2.5" hdd bay, I'd prefer not to take up the whole bay and if even be able to keep whatever the minimal chip and wires in a space in the case. I know this is a lot to ask considering I cant do it myself and I do not have the laptop to say where good spaces are. But I would appreciate any and all help or ideas, thanks :)

Will Google "Penguin" ruin my Instructables' ranking?

I recently came across an article about Google Penguin. I also recently started sharing my Instructables' posts on Pinterest, Twitter, and Google+, and am confused. There are many spammy websites that take the info form my I'bles, repost it, and also leave a link to the I'ble (most of them). Example: https://www.google.com/search?q=Finger+Mallet+from+a+Tree+Branch&oq;=Finger+Mallet+from+a+Tree+Branch&aqs;=chrome..69i57j69i60j69i59&sourceid;=chrome&ie;=UTF-8 I really like Pinterest, and am okay with G+ and Twitter. I think most of my Instructables show as the first clickable option (rank), since most of my Instructables are ORIGINAL (until the Youtube plagiarizers find about them) things that haven't been posted before online... Will sharing on social media affect this?
