I was browsing through Ibles' with Chrome, and it suddenly gave me a warning page telling me that: "The website www.instructables.com appears to contain elements from the site resolvenews.in, which appears to host malware". It's Imagine that it's from the ads because I visited the same page just seconds before, and when I went back to it I got the warning, hinting that something changed which was probably the ads. This really needs to be dealt with pronto, because we don't want anyone thinking Ibles' hosts malware when it's a totally reputable site. By the way, I put this in bugs because I wasn't sure where it should go.

An Instructable I published last night is not showing up in its category. I cannot pull it up under "Technology" or using recent under "Soldering" where I had published it. The link I have for it is - https://www.instructables.com/id/Cleaning-up-your-PCB/. Is there something I need to do to try to republish it?

Have you ever felt like knowledge is being crammed down your throat in School? Do you ever feel physically ill (like you're gunna thow up)? You're going to be tested later on something insanely complicated? Today, for me, in algebra 2, we are starting to learn about conix, and I feel ill. There are so many formulas, so many variables, so many variations, so much space to make a tiny error, I feel like I'm gunna die in math. Unless anybody knows an easy way to memorize a bunch of complicated formulas and how to use them ;) anyone ever feel ill from knowledge?

Is it just me, or does it seem like time speeds up around the holidays? It doesn’t matter where I’ve been in life, time seems to enter a sucking vortex towards the end of the year. Every year I have plans to be more clever, more efficient, more thoughtful when it comes to the holidays, and each year I hear myself getting snappier and more impatient with the demands made upon me. “A Christmas list? I don’t have time to think about what you could give me to make my life easier!” That’s right, I’m an ungrateful troll. So in an attempt to keep this holiday-troll at bay, I make lists. I gather supplies. I get excited about what I can make for friends and family, and I set out to learn whole new skill sets to accomplish my goals. This year, a laser-etched arduino-powered cribbage board with hand-carved pegs! Knit socks in decadent colorways for everyone in the family! Infused liqueurs with home-grown fruits and herbs! But let’s face it, last year, I taught myself crochet so I could make a friend a beautiful sampler afghan. It’s almost done! It’s right next to half a sock I started knitting the year before. Oh, and I don’t grow fruit. Still, every year I pride myself in how this year I will make simple gifts for family and friends. I will eschew consumerism! I will not fall prey to deep discounts and crowded malls. I will not find myself waiting by door to accept delivery. And yet, come December 24, you’re likely to find me trying to hide my face in the endless queue at whatever store is still open at midnight, arms rammed full of manufactured goods that no one really needs or will remember, promising myself that next year I will start in May! Let’s get real. I didn’t start in May. I will probably never start in May. But maybe one day, I will learn how to think mindfully about the holidays and what they mean to me. I will think about my loved ones and what they mean to me. I will simplify and know that it is enough. I will learn that it is for the best of everyone that I find time to breathe and to let go. One thing no one wants for the holidays is a cranky troll – I have at least learned that. To be honest, I don’t remember the gifts I receive from year to year. What I remember is the time I get to spend with friends and family. So this year I will try to make myself a simple gift: the gift of time. Time away from a computer, away from responsibility, away from my self-imposed pressures. Time to spend with my loved ones. After all, isn’t that the best gift we can give? Ok, I’m still going to make something for everyone I can. I mean, c’mon, it’s what I do! But reflecting on this helps me remember the point. So how do you handle the holidays?

Hello. I apologize in advance for my English :-) I have the following problem. I discovered an interesting topic, and found that I did not authorize. Clicked "Login" - "Google +" and logged in. Then I went back to an interesting topic, and it looked like I was not authorized. So I was not able to add the topic to the collection :-( On other topics and the whole site everything looks fine (authorized).

Two years ago, the contests said that entries are accepted from any country That was all nice until i noticed that lately the contest policy has changed and there is only a small list of countries now. I've always hated the idea of country-exclusive stuff going on on the internet. Will it be possible in the future to submit entries from Romania too? Also, based on what criteria do the admins here choose what countries can participate?

Hi, I like the way the "Instructables.com" has been emerged from starting with simple site to very up to date and helpful DIY guide to the obsessed DIY geeks like me. I really do appreciate the great job of the web site authors having this site evolved since! Since, I am from Pakistan, never submitted any entry yet, just avoid to fear that my entry will be wiped away, I want to ask the "Instructables.com" authros that could I submit my entry regarding Microcontroller contest? Is the contest entry from Pakistan is accepted here? Perhaps, the entries from our neighbor country INDIA are already accepted. Please reply ASAP. Thanks. M. Jawed

I want to burn the Arduino bootloader to an Arduino from an Arduino. I have an Arduino Duemilanove, and I want to take the chip(ATMega328) off, and use it in a circuit, without having to connect the whole Arduino to the circuit. However, I then have an Arduino with no chip. So, Can I just put a regular ATMega328(I know I can just buy one with the bootloader already on it, but I would rather do itmyself.) into the Arduino, connect it to the computer, and use the Arduino IDE(I'm using 0021- the most up to date one) to burn the bootloader to it? If so, how? If I cant, is there any way to easily do it with only another Arduino with the bootloader on it?

I bought a dollhouse made 25 years ago and someone put white oak tag like a poster board paper on all the ceilings of the rooms in the dollhouse and I want to take it off. It doesn't peal easily and right now it makes the rooms look tacky. Anyone have a suggest how I can get this paper off?

Ok so long story short i want to make a serious home theater system. i have all the amps and speakers, but they are from a car. so i will need to run them from 12ish volts from my home outlets. so i cam wondering what kind of adaptor i should be making or using. i see pre-made ones that have an output of 12v with their amps ranging from 3-15 and watts from 3 to 300. i am no electrician and have little electrical experience, so i am wondering if i should go with more or less amps and watts, i dont need to fry anything as the amp and speakers i have are expensive! THANKS!

Now that Convert your Honda Accord to run on trash has won the Craftsman Workshop of the Future Contest, it's prepped to race to Mexico for a chance of winning $10,000.00!Our friends at The Shipyard and ALL Power Labs are running Escape from Berkeley (by any non-petroleum means necessary), the premier alternative-fuels road rally, for the second year in a row. Last year they escaped from Berkeley and fled to Vegas; this year they're running for the boarder. The directions are laid out for you, all you need to do is get to work. Will you be there? If so, be sure to document your alternative fuel project on Instructables!A road race to Mexico, no fuel allowed.June 12-16, 2009Berkeley, CA - "Escape from Berkeley (by any non petroleum means necessary)" is a road rally of alternatively powered vehicles from Berkeley, California to the US-Mexican Border. Part engineering problem, part artistic opportunity, the rally challenges contestants to start their "engines" on something other than petroleum based fuel, and by any means necessary, cause their "vehicles" show up at the border five days later - using only fuels/power/motive force scavenged for free along the route.Last years inaugural race took us from the DIY oasis of ALL Power Labs in Berkeley, CA, to the consumptive excess of Las Vegas, Nevada. Returning to compete for the second running of the race will be 1st Place Rally Winner Jack McCornack from Cave Junction, OR and Runner Up Wayne Keith from Springfield, AL. Registration for new racers is now open. Interested racers should write email@example.com.All types of vehicles are welcome. All schemes for non-petroleum based transport are encouraged. In short, everything is permitted - just as long as your "fuel" is from a non-petroleum based source, your acquisition of it does not require money, and you start the race with no more than 10kwh of it on board. The full field of power generation and conversion is open for scavenging and creative power hacking.DARPA had a Grand Challenge. . . the rednecks a Cannonball Run. . . and the Auto X prize is still a year away. So in the meatime, NASA scientists and junkyard fabricators will go head-to-head in a no holds barred battle of engineering prowess and creative excess. Hanging somewhat in the balance are bragging rights for saving the world. That, and a grand prize of $10,000.Schedule:June 12th - Race begins at ALL Power Labs in Berkeley, CA. End and overnight in Parkfield, California, the Earthquake capital of the world.June 13th - 2nd leg start at Parkfield. End and overnight at El Mirage dry lake.June 14th - Day off at El Mirage dry lake for landspeed trials. Some EFB racers to run speed trials.June 15th - 3rd leg start at El Mirage. End at Salton Sea, California State Recreation Area.June 16th - 4th leg start at Salton Sea. End at the beach where the fence goes into the ocean at the Border Fields State Park, US Mexico Border."Some entries will arrive at the start line with extreme technical innovation. Others will arrive with only creative excess. The best entries, as well as the likely winners, will need to arrive with both." - Jim MasonNew York Times article on last year's race.

Hi, I am working on a project that measures temperature and current, store it on an SD card (csv file) and send them to a website. I decided to sample the signals every 5 seconds and store the data to the SD card using time interrupt (TimerOne). My plan is to sample and store data for 1 minute and then read the sampled data from the SD card and store them into 2 Arrays i.e Array1 for temperature and Array2 for the current and send the data to the website. Thus far I have managed to sample and store the data using the time interrupt. I also included a count variable in the interrupt subroutine so as to know how many times the interrupt has occurred. Since I am sampling and storing the data every 5 seconds and I want to read the data stored in the SD card every minute, so when count = 12 I would like to read the last 12 readings (24 since its current and temperature ) and store them into 2 Arrays. The problem I have is that I do not know how to read the data from the SD card and store them into two Arrays and would like your help. Note: the Reading of the SD card will not be in the Interrupt subroutine Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks Muundu

My question is: can a typical 12 vdc automotive relay be operated (voltage across terminals 85-86)? I am building a car from a riding lawn mower for our grandson. I want to operate lights from the 12 VDC circuit but I need a signal voltage to actuate the relay across relay terminals 85-86. I would like to use the existing AC powered light(s) voltage for this purpose? Possible?

Okay, i just got back from an air force base on a extremely classified training mission. but while i was there i learned a little known fact about a device that almost EVERYONE has in there pockets right now! well let me first tell you about a law that was passed somewhere between 2000-2005 that states " all cellular devices produced after this date must have a Global Positioning Service "GPS" device/module installed". so all post millennium cell phones have GPS in them and enabled for mostly federal uses. Your cellphone service providers such as Verizon have barely caught on to the trend and realized that since they already have a virtually unused GPS device inside why not utilize it? so they added a GPS service to it. thought not bug free, it is and amazing device for its size. it can give you position, speed, and altitude! so my question is as follows... how in the heavens can we "extract" and "utilize" this chip from our old our spare cell phones? this is possible but how? possibly paired with and Arduino? if anyone has a degree in engineering or a local library and the ingenuity to reverse engineer a mobile device, then the possibilities are endless! this is up to you instructables community!

The following is a quote of the post I've just left on the aforementioned Instructable (https://www.instructables.com/id/One-Person-Submersible-from-a-Plastic-Drum/?&sort;=NEWEST&limit;=40&offset;=40). I would really appreciate the removal of this instructable. "Hi. I am a certified OSHA and CSAO commercial diver air dive supervisor, level 1, and qualified Master Scuba Diver Trainer with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. This is a very dangerous idea. You might not die, but someone else might/will/and has. Just because there is a disclaimer there, you and Instructables will be subject to litigation. There is a reason that people need a certification to operate this type of life support equipment. http://scuba-doc.com/ageprbs.html "Because of Boyle's law, maximal changes in volume occur in the 4 feet (1.22 m.) closest to the surface and the diver sustains a tear in the pulmonary parenchyma with the escape of air into the pulmonary venous outflow." I can quote other resources, such as the US Navy Dive Manual and the DCIM manual, but it's Boyle's Law, not Boyle's "kinda' might happen. I don't know". "

As you may have heard instructables friend James Powderly was being held by the Chinese government for planning a pro-Tibet laser tagging event. He was held for 6 days and was finally released on monday. Here's what he had to say in a statement on Artnet:Powderly, who feels he was subjected to psychological torture, nevertheless stresses that what he went through pales in comparison to the ordeal of political prisoners or other inmates. He intends to share his experience with human rights groups and politicians, as well as with the public through his art. "They're going to really wish that they killed my ass," he said.If you're interested in his experience you can check out the article at Artnet, or you can wait for Powderly's own instructable in which he plans to instructablize his "Beijing projection machine" calling it "How to Get Yourself Thrown in a Chinese Jail." And from the test image you see below, it looks like it's going to be great. We're glad you're back and safe, James.

I think it'd be uber-cool if we had a contest for 'Food from Scratch'. What this would mean: None of the following: -Canned Food -Bottled Food -Premixed Spices/Salts/etc.* *This means you can have a salt shaker, or a certain spice, say nutmeg, but you can't have 'Season All' or any spices which have two or more ingredients in them. Any thoughts? Anyone actually interested?

Hey guys and gals, My toshiba laptop took a dive off the counter and it doesn't power up anymore. I ordered a new laptop and I would really like to retrieve my files from the damaged computer's hard drive. I had a friend take it out and put it on two laptops, one of them being another Toshiba but no luck. I wasn't around when he tried it but I think he said that it wouldn't read the drive and it would spit out error messages. Not sure if it has something to do with the fact that the old, damaged computer was a 32bit and the ones we tried to put it into were 64. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what I can do? I had just bought an external hd and I had not saved any of my pictures, videos, documents, or songs yet. I don't want to lose everything. Please help. Thanks in advance. oh, btw, I know very little about computer/tech stuff so please explain it accordingly. thanks again

Being an insatiable tinkerer, I an planning an exensive remodel on a '92 Honda 100. It's one of those all-plastic dirtbikes, and frankly, I'm too big for it in its current configuration. Not a problem I have often, but man is it annoying! The price was right, and I needed a functional sled, so here we are. I'm in the midst of designing/modifying and buiding a tank for it that is bigger and metal. As such, the current seat has to go. I don't want to hack up the seat because I'd like to have the option to return to stock. I would like to put a seat on it that is reminiscent of 70s Hondas, just new and on the cheap. Does anyone have any experience/ideas with building a seat like this? I've got a lot of foam (but probably not the "right" sort), and a masters degree in duct tape upholstery. I've made all-metal seatpans before, but these were aways solo saddles. Any tips/tricks/technquies that might make my life easier in this endeavor?

Does anyone here have experience with: -electric vehicles in general, -Prius-style hybrids -deep-cycle batteries -independent rear suspensions -repurposing "free" lithium-ion batteries -The heat output of half a ton of such batteries, and a cooling system that might be up to the job -electric dragsters -building a car from scratch (and I do mean scratch... starting with building the frame) -Using a large gasoline engine to power a generator, the output of which directly powers an electric motor, and any power left over going to the above-mentioned batteries -high performance electric motors -low-performance electric motors -Breaking, destroying, or otherwise rending any of the above components? On a budget?

More importantly if there is a way MAKE AN INSCRUTABLE ON IT!!!! i havent seen one anywhere on how to do this, metacafe, youtube, google, and rotteneggs From Homepie64

I would like to add a video link as well, again for information only. Any help will be appreciated.

I like to paint nightscapes and so far headlamps are not working so well for me. I used a portable light bar one night that worked well (on loan) but it was too heavy. I've been through stores looking for the right thing...and harbor freight came close. But I need something lighter weight and less expensive. Two or three led lights don't cast enough light and 30 led storebought lights are too much light. I have a solar powered phone charger with battery bank (with usb connections) that I now plan to use as the portable power source. I plan to use a pringles potato chip tube as the light housing that can be attached by clips to my pochade (really a mod'd cigar box) on top of a camera tripod. I guess my main concern is weight on the box, so I thought running a cable off a power source hanging from the tripod would be more secure and less likely to fall in my palette (as has already happened). I need help figuring out the circuit board; and also choosing the right white led for color purposes. Any thoughts?

So K'nexers, What made you come to instructables? My story is wierd.Okay, so I was in the living room watching tv. I saw a commercial for a catapult, and I made one out of legos. After making my catapult, I googled Catapult toys. It asked me if I meant K'nex Catapult Toy so I chose yes. The first one there was this. I instantly wanted to make a gun. A google search later and I saw the KILLERK gun. Built it, and then branched out to where I am now. And that's my story. What's yours? Signed, R&C;

In Most European palaces and castles, it is common to find the ceilings decorated with ornate gilded woodwork and elaborate frescoes. In Brussels, Belgium, one particular hall in the Royal Palace has a very peculiar ceiling that is decorated with very strange items. The hall's ceiling, which has remained unfinished since 1909, was redecorated by the contemporary Belgian artist Jan Fabre. Fabre was inspired by Sternocera aequisignata, a type of jewel beetle of the Buprestidae family, which has a shimmering green iridescent shell. Fabre and 30 other diligent artist armed with a truck-full of beetle shells and glue, transformed the empty ceiling into one bejeweled with a sea of swirling and twinkling green. The team also went to work on the center chandelier in the hall, turning it from gilded gold to sparkling green. As one gazes up at the masterpiece from the floor, the whole mass of shells appears to move as the light reflects from different angles.Jan Fabre calls the the ceiling Heaven of Delight, as a reference to ''The Garden of Earthly Delights'' by early Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch ( a personal favorite of mine). The green shells do indeed add a great amount of energy to the once bland and vacant hall. 1.6 million beetle shells were used. The beetles, which are wood-boring and are mostly considered a pest, appears abundantly in India, Thailand, and Vietnam. They are sometimes cooked and eaten, however their beautiful shells are discarded.LinkTranslated Original
