I've been looking around on here, and all i can find is Arduino stuff and stuff I don't have the money for. I'm a teenage American, I can't solder, and i don't have much wood, aluminium, or other construction supplies around to make things with, nor do i have construction skills or tools. I'm almost always without money, and I don't have a 3-Dimensional Printer / CNC machine / Hobby Club / TechShop / New-Wave Technology That's Required For This 'ible / Computer Program That Costs Lots Of Money/ Arduino or equivalent / Scrap Materials. Pretty much the only thing i could do decently is QBasic, which is hard to find inspiration for, and smashing things with a hammer. Now that I think about it, it's hard to find inspiration or a need for anything. All things considered, how do I get started making Instructables on this site, and are there any good beginner projects that use ordinary household materials or very simple beginner programming languages?

After reading a very touching series of forum posts from sistergldnhair's friends and family, we were sorry to hear that this young author had to undergo some brain surgery. The procedure was successful, and we here at the Instructables HQ wanted to send our well wishes with a few gifts and a signed card. Please take a minute to read through these posts, and leave your get-well-soon's in the comments below. PLEASE send sistergldnhair a get well message A Thank You to One Very Thoughtful Little Girl

I am pondering the possibility of getting a new laptop sometime. I want portability, LOTS of storage, ease of use, and a RELIABLE OS. I play WoW, do lots of high def video editing and Im home most of the time but when im out i dont want a 40 pound paper weight in my backpack. I also want something thats easy to use IE a decently large keyboard or a good trackpad. I'm not addicted to WoW but i play it enough that I cant but a netbook! I also do video editing for my youtube channel.....Basically, I like small but I NEED STORAGE and processing speed and some RAM for my games....I prefer windows after my crappy experience with my mac but ill stay open minded and allow mac suggestions....oh and Im a klutz also I drop things all the time.

I need wine corks for a project i'm working on, and have not been able to find them. I have tried asking a friend who is a caterer, no luck. I have asked other people, but no one has any. please write any suggestions that you have. I have no money, so it would be best if they where free.

Hi, i would just like to say that i have great difficulty getting resources for instructables, this is probably because i'm only 13 and live in the u.k. I have a small town near me but i barely ever go in, almost always with my parents (partly because i can't be bothered to go on my own). Hopefully i might get a debit card soon but even then im worried about bank statements my parents might look at.

So, I was replacing a bad capacitor on a smart car battery charger. It was making a terrible whining noise, which the bad cap was causing. So, I replaced it. But, silly me, I installed it backwards, so when I powered it up, it vented up a storm. Now, the basement smells of burnt electrolytes. I've opened windows, and even had a fan running to draw air in, but that nasty smell lingers. What else could I try to rid of it?

I was thinking about entering the "Get in the Garden" contest but I may not want to if the Instructable could be used towards another contest whose catagory it would fit into better. Any advice is most welcome and much appreciated.

One of the greatest DIY projects to try out is the lamp. Everyone can use a good lamp or two and here are ten different approaches to bringing light to the darkness. Redo the ideas exactly, tweak them, or even mash them up. As long as the result lights up your life and makes you happy it'll be worth the effort. Mad Scientists Light by tim-1138 The perfect touch for that lab you've been dreaming of putting together. Japanese lamp from recycled materials by PKM Put a bit of scrap materials together in this clever way and you'll be able to add a touch of class to your den. Big lamps from Ikea lampan lamps by daan These lamps are quite plain on their own, but start putting them together and you can make something amazing. Universal lamp shade polygon building kit by dan This classic Instructable uses only one cutout shape to create and extraordinarily wide array of lamp shapes. Geometric Cut Paper Table Lamp by drips Start cutting up paper to create a lamp and you'll soon see that the possibilities are endless. Keep experimenting with shapes and sizes to get the light you want. Paper Wall Lamp by naedhi One string of rope lights and a slick use of paper to diffuse the light creates a nice modern lamp. Again, you can tweak the design however you want. RGB Color Controllable High Power LED Room + Spot Lighting by dan Want some bright lights and the power to create whatever color you want? Then take the plunge into high power LEDs and see how much fun you can have. Small eco-footprint living room light by marc_alain Instead of just saying it's green, this Instructable even provides a life cycle analysis. Either way, the lamp itself looks good enough to build even if it wasn't super efficient. Audio Visual Art....FOTC Style by scooter76 Make some art and light up the room at the same time. Don't care much for the New Zealand duo? Then put whatever you want on there. Night Stand Charging Station Lamp by drocko Function meets more function with this lamp that does double duty as a charging station for all your electronic gizmos.

Can a gun get any scarier? I think not. Now the thing that scares me is that the gun alone could kill you in a fraction of a second, and yet, they feel the need to make it even more deady... I LIKE IT >:-) And see if you notice something about the guy holding it... (Look at his uniform hehe)

"Inspiration is for amateurs. I just get to work." - Chuck CloseChuck Close paints incredible portraits of himself and others with his unique style even though he holds the brush between his teeth due to being a quadriplegic. He is awesome and his paintings are beautiful in person. In a recent interview with Terry Gross, Chuck gives some great advice for anyone who can't think of what to do. Don't wait for inspiration, just get into the habit of making and ride it. After all, Chuck does well with this and here's how he describes himself:I'm a nervous wreck. I'm a slob. I have no patience. And I'm rather lazy. All those things would seem to guarantee that I would not make work like I make. But I didn't want to just go with my nature.More great stuff here.via Drawn!

I see that the first option is a year membership, about 20 dollars, the second one is 3 month membership, about 10 dollars, and the third one is more than a year, but that one doesn't matter. Anyways, I just want to get a 1 Month Pro Membership, As i don't have too much money, Now that i got a little bit in my hands, I thought i might try the 1/2 dollar single month membership, but it is more than that. So is it possible to get a single month membership? (note:My budget is a mere 5 bucks) Thanks... ~ReCreate

I have a design for original body armor, but I don't know where to buy it or get it built. Think of a nomex survival suit, but Dragon Skin and Kevlar for fabric covering underneath armor, 2nd layer U.S.A. brand or Japanese exoskeleton suit with titanium caseing, 3rd layer graphene and dragon skin for plates covering entire body like a full body mold but cut in pieces for flexibility. Where can I get this built or how can I build it precisely. It will last against a FN FAL. I live in McAllen Texas. I prefer professionally made, so any suggestions. I have no budget.

Anyway, recently we haven't been talking a lot and I miss the attention he used to give me, help?

So im looking for ways that people are able to get access to metal working tools for quick projects for free. All I need to do is just turn a flashlight body on a lathe and make the inside of the body 18.5mm (from 16.5mm) so that i can fit 18650 size batteries. I was thinking maby I could call up a metal shop and ask to machine the body if I help clean up the shop at the end of the day or see if I could find someone in my area with a lathe. If anyone has any ideas or proven ways to get quick metal projects done please post away.

I want to know where I can get them - I live in England, and would prefer to use the internet. I have tried ebay, but none of the search terms I came up with brought up any appropriate results. Thanks, ~H4ZZ

Ok so here are the details, I want to access sites like youtube, and well just youtube and I tried the https protocol and that didn't work and on top of that there's a bug installed within our computer especially designed to keep us away from changing any of the proxy settings in all of these browsers and I only have these 3 browsers: Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome. If possible I would prefer Firefox because of the add-ons that I have with it. And i can't modify anything within the advance settings button on the Network/Internet Preference Pane. And as my last resort I ask all of you on how do I bypass this web filter? P.S. I have a mac mountain lion v10.8.4 Tank you very much for your support

Well today i went to the movies with my friends and we saw "get smart" and it was good but then my friends said lets go see another movie and sneak in. They say it is not illegal but i think it is. Also it goes completely against my moral values. Is just getting one ticket and sneaking in illegal? What do you guys think about it?

Hello, i just tried electrolysing 50mls of water with a teaspoon of dissolved salt inside it, using my tv's power cable which gave out 12v @5.5A. after about 5 mins of electrolysis, my entire room began stinking like chlorine, and the salt water was splattering and bubbling out of the very small container i was using. i was using carbon electrodes for both the anode and cathode, and they were fizzling like bi-carb soda in vinagar as soon as they both touched the water. what i need to know is, how can i improve on this method to get a high yelid, say 99% of sodium chlorate in the end, and not end up with perchlorate, or hydroxide?' i know that if i want to get a high yelid of chlortae, then no chlorine ions should be lost in the proccess, is there any way to keep all the chlorine? or is it inetivable that they bubble out? also, would it help to add hydrochloric acid to neutralise any sodium hydroxide that forms during the electrolysis, or will that destroy my electrodes? lastly, is 12v 5.5a too much? and is 66 watts too much? also is it watts that makes the electrolysis go faster, and not the voltage, because i have a power supply that can give out 12v 500ma instead. also, as with all my questions, whoever gives the best answer will be given a best answer.
