I've been looking around on here, and all i can find is Arduino stuff and stuff I don't have the money for. I'm a teenage American, I can't solder, and i don't have much wood, aluminium, or other construction supplies around to make things with, nor do i have construction skills or tools. I'm almost always without money, and I don't have a 3-Dimensional Printer / CNC machine / Hobby Club / TechShop / New-Wave Technology That's Required For This 'ible / Computer Program That Costs Lots Of Money/ Arduino or equivalent / Scrap Materials. Pretty much the only thing i could do decently is QBasic, which is hard to find inspiration for, and smashing things with a hammer. Now that I think about it, it's hard to find inspiration or a need for anything. All things considered, how do I get started making Instructables on this site, and are there any good beginner projects that use ordinary household materials or very simple beginner programming languages?

After reading a very touching series of forum posts from sistergldnhair's friends and family, we were sorry to hear that this young author had to undergo some brain surgery. The procedure was successful, and we here at the Instructables HQ wanted to send our well wishes with a few gifts and a signed card. Please take a minute to read through these posts, and leave your get-well-soon's in the comments below. PLEASE send sistergldnhair a get well message A Thank You to One Very Thoughtful Little Girl

Hi, i would just like to say that i have great difficulty getting resources for instructables, this is probably because i'm only 13 and live in the u.k. I have a small town near me but i barely ever go in, almost always with my parents (partly because i can't be bothered to go on my own). Hopefully i might get a debit card soon but even then im worried about bank statements my parents might look at.

One of the greatest DIY projects to try out is the lamp. Everyone can use a good lamp or two and here are ten different approaches to bringing light to the darkness. Redo the ideas exactly, tweak them, or even mash them up. As long as the result lights up your life and makes you happy it'll be worth the effort. Mad Scientists Light by tim-1138 The perfect touch for that lab you've been dreaming of putting together. Japanese lamp from recycled materials by PKM Put a bit of scrap materials together in this clever way and you'll be able to add a touch of class to your den. Big lamps from Ikea lampan lamps by daan These lamps are quite plain on their own, but start putting them together and you can make something amazing. Universal lamp shade polygon building kit by dan This classic Instructable uses only one cutout shape to create and extraordinarily wide array of lamp shapes. Geometric Cut Paper Table Lamp by drips Start cutting up paper to create a lamp and you'll soon see that the possibilities are endless. Keep experimenting with shapes and sizes to get the light you want. Paper Wall Lamp by naedhi One string of rope lights and a slick use of paper to diffuse the light creates a nice modern lamp. Again, you can tweak the design however you want. RGB Color Controllable High Power LED Room + Spot Lighting by dan Want some bright lights and the power to create whatever color you want? Then take the plunge into high power LEDs and see how much fun you can have. Small eco-footprint living room light by marc_alain Instead of just saying it's green, this Instructable even provides a life cycle analysis. Either way, the lamp itself looks good enough to build even if it wasn't super efficient. Audio Visual Art....FOTC Style by scooter76 Make some art and light up the room at the same time. Don't care much for the New Zealand duo? Then put whatever you want on there. Night Stand Charging Station Lamp by drocko Function meets more function with this lamp that does double duty as a charging station for all your electronic gizmos.

Can a gun get any scarier? I think not. Now the thing that scares me is that the gun alone could kill you in a fraction of a second, and yet, they feel the need to make it even more deady... I LIKE IT >:-) And see if you notice something about the guy holding it... (Look at his uniform hehe)

"Inspiration is for amateurs. I just get to work." - Chuck CloseChuck Close paints incredible portraits of himself and others with his unique style even though he holds the brush between his teeth due to being a quadriplegic. He is awesome and his paintings are beautiful in person. In a recent interview with Terry Gross, Chuck gives some great advice for anyone who can't think of what to do. Don't wait for inspiration, just get into the habit of making and ride it. After all, Chuck does well with this and here's how he describes himself:I'm a nervous wreck. I'm a slob. I have no patience. And I'm rather lazy. All those things would seem to guarantee that I would not make work like I make. But I didn't want to just go with my nature.More great stuff here.via Drawn!

I see that the first option is a year membership, about 20 dollars, the second one is 3 month membership, about 10 dollars, and the third one is more than a year, but that one doesn't matter. Anyways, I just want to get a 1 Month Pro Membership, As i don't have too much money, Now that i got a little bit in my hands, I thought i might try the 1/2 dollar single month membership, but it is more than that. So is it possible to get a single month membership? (note:My budget is a mere 5 bucks) Thanks... ~ReCreate

So im looking for ways that people are able to get access to metal working tools for quick projects for free. All I need to do is just turn a flashlight body on a lathe and make the inside of the body 18.5mm (from 16.5mm) so that i can fit 18650 size batteries. I was thinking maby I could call up a metal shop and ask to machine the body if I help clean up the shop at the end of the day or see if I could find someone in my area with a lathe. If anyone has any ideas or proven ways to get quick metal projects done please post away.

I have a theory, that I will be able to wake up easier if someone who's voice I don't recognize tells me to. I am asking if anyone who can would record their voice saying: "It is time to wake up now" After this is recorded save it as a mp3 or wav and upload the file and post it in a comment below. Thanks!

Well today i went to the movies with my friends and we saw "get smart" and it was good but then my friends said lets go see another movie and sneak in. They say it is not illegal but i think it is. Also it goes completely against my moral values. Is just getting one ticket and sneaking in illegal? What do you guys think about it?

I've just finished v1.0 of my Instructable about making your own blog, from scratch, and I was wondering who here has a blog, writes to a blog, or runs a content management system of any kind.I have been a blogger in numerous blogs in the past, i'm currently co-building a new blog with a friend, and I've owned and ran (before passing on) about 4 blogs. What's your experience?
