Getting money

So, I am 15 and I live in Colorado. Recently something has caught my eye that I want to buy. Problem is that is costs $550. Does anyone have any ways to get money at my age? I have submitted some job applications already but there is really only two places that I can walk to. I went around and de-iced some gutters and got about $60 from that, but that is a one time thing. Anyone got any more ideas?

Getting into Lacrosse

Today in gym class we "played" lacrosse, and by play, I mean we threw and caught the ball. Still, it was mucho fun-o! I think I would like to play lacrosse, or at least get into it more. I seemed to excel today, and I do like contact sports. The problem is, I don't have much training in lacrosse. I do know that it is similar to hockey, both in field and rules. Another thing is that my (future) high school does not have a lacrosse team. Only 2 of the 4 high schools in my county have one. I could play for rec, but what I am thinking is: Do you think I could get my high school to support a lacrosse team? So, everyone (and by everyone, I mean you, Brenn10), do you think you could help me out learning about lacrosse? What do I need to get started and practice? Do any certain body sizes excel at lacrosse more than others? Thanks, Bran!

Getting started!

Hello everyone, I just found this site last night and lets just say that i didnt get to much sleep! A quick introduction about me. Im 24y old guy from sweden. I loved taking electronic stuff apart as a kid (not so much putting them back together) and i did some experementing in school but it soon faded. I then went on to become an electrician(house/construction installations) and have been working as one for 6 years now but never really went back into electronics. The last few years LED's has been getting big as the main lightsource in our homes but the comercial solutions aren't always satisfactory, hence my renewed interest in this. Only thing i've done outside of work is built some computers but never really modding. As if i didnt  have enough to do in my spare time i now wanna get into this, so i have a few questions on how to get started: - What basic tools do i need? Soldering kit, precision screwdrivers, multimeter......more? -What store is best for getting supplies/tools? Is it ebay or do you prefer a specific company? Any site that is better/worse to use living in sweden? Also should i stock up on basic components or just get what i need for my projects? -Is there any other communities that supplements this one? Any Swedish sites perhaps? -Anything else i should know before buying some stuff and starting? Right know im mostly focused on mods involving LED and lighting in general. Suggestions about that? Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section but i didnt really find any better place. I know this might not be as exciting as the other questions in here but all input is greatly appreciated!  TLDNR: What do i need to know/have to get started modding electronics? Cheers!

Getting sponsorship?

Hello everyone, I am currently by the end of my studies and I am also working as part-time.  Now I applied to be a volunteer for the Olympics and Paralympics for 2016 in RIO and have been selected for both which I am really excited for, but the only problem is that to be able to go over there It is very costly as I live on the other side of the world and I don't have enough funds and time is very limited to acquire those as well.   So what I need is to find a way so that I can get sponsored for my air tickets and take care of my accommodation.  Here are the things that I have been thinking and trying to do as well. First I looked for a job and I got it but the problem is that the pay isn't enough so that I can get the required amount to cover all my expenses.  I cannot get another job as I need to complete my studies before June so time isn't in my favour again.  However I think that I can work freelance online for short jobs such as 1 day to 1 month and If I can get as many as possible It should help.  SInce those won't be enough I need to look for sponsors but I do not know where to look for and how to do it and I was also thinking of getting a job in the US or even south america so as to be able to stay and work there for a while after the event so that I can take care of myself and explore at the same time before returning to my home country.   Any help. I really appreciate it.

Getting known

Hi everybody, READ THIS (ALL OF IT): Recently I asked a question about how to get better known in the k'nex community on instructables. I got lots of tips but most of them didn't help me because I already used them. Except for this one: POST A FORUM TOPIC. So here it is, my forum topic, everyone who reads this will now know me because they think: What an idiot and what a stupid avatar picture(I agree). That's me, Mr. Muggle ( or actually: mrmuggle but I don't know how to change that)

Getting Worried

I am very worried. With the contests deadline looming right in front of us my Hydroponics entry has still not been accepted. I am pretty sure it meets all the requirments which are listed below. Here is the link to the 'ible. The InstructableIf you find anything wrong with it please leave a comment so I can fix it.ThanksHere are the rules taken directly from the contest's page:The Instructables have to be of very good quality. So include well written text, plenty of details, original pictures, and provide a thorough answer to the question. If they're lousy (and you know when they are), your project won't be allowed into the contest. The Instructables have to include their own original images taken by you, the author. Instructables comprised of images found online will not be allowed into the group. They have to be titled exactly as they appear above. Why? Because that's what people are looking for. They have to have a publish date after March 5th. They have to be on the list! Only Instructables answering questions on the list will be admitted to the group.

How do I get started?

I've been looking around on here, and all i can find is Arduino stuff and stuff I don't have the money for. I'm a teenage American, I can't solder, and i don't have much wood, aluminium, or other construction supplies around to make things with, nor do i have construction skills or tools. I'm almost always without money, and I don't have a 3-Dimensional Printer / CNC machine / Hobby Club / TechShop / New-Wave Technology That's Required For This 'ible / Computer Program That Costs Lots Of Money/ Arduino or equivalent / Scrap Materials. Pretty much the only thing i could do decently is QBasic, which is hard to find inspiration for, and smashing things with a hammer. Now that I think about it, it's hard to find inspiration or a need for anything. All things considered, how do I get started making Instructables on this site, and are there any good beginner projects that use ordinary household materials or very simple beginner programming languages?

Getting rid of the smell of a blown electrolytic capacitor? Answered

So, I was replacing a bad capacitor on a smart car battery charger. It was making a terrible whining noise, which the bad cap was causing. So, I replaced it. But, silly me, I installed it backwards, so when I powered it up, it vented up a storm. Now, the basement smells of burnt electrolytes. I've opened windows, and even had a fan running to draw air in, but that nasty smell lingers. What else could I try to rid of it?

The rich get richer

I'm kind of ticked off about a big problem I noticed. The main page in every contest has a big panel for the most viewed instructables posted in the contest. The problem with this is that because a lot of people only click on the instructables they see right in front of them. So all the other instructables no matter how good they are , if they don't have many views , get buried under the most viewed ibles and don't get any views. So the people who don't even need any more views get them piled on and the people with hardly any stay that way. Somebody please do something about this!

TDA7293 gets hot?

I recently bought some TDA7293 chips in order to make amplifiers, but when I tested one it got hot! I've checked the wiring several times. I'm using this circuit :  http://xtronic.org/circuit/amplifier/circuit-power-audio-amplifier-stereo-with-tda7293-200-watts-rms-total-includes-power-supply/ I'm using +-8V supply, which is bellow the minimum voltage according to the datasheet, so it shouldn't work nor get hot!  If I use a higher supply voltaje it gets hot faster. Any ideas?

Getting started for a beginner

Hi there, I hope this is in the right forum. So, I have always liked to work with my hands, seeing things people made and thinking "I WOULD LOVE TO GET INTO THAT" and I recently decided to make good on my wishes and wish to really get into the DIY scene. I'm looking for help on what tools I should get my hands on to start working on things. An example of something I wish tor re-create would be this: https://www.instructables.com/id/Portable-PC-project-inspired-by-Shadowrun-Cyberdec/ I'm not looking for help on what it takes to make up the end product but rather the tools one would use consistently to make everything fit and what not. Is there a sort of beginners toolbox or something of that sort I should look into getting? Sorry if this is confusing, I'm confusing even myself a bit, haha. On a side note, does everyone here have a garage they work in? I'm in NYC and as many of you know it's not the easiest place to have a workbench. Can anyone recommend me places you would go to work on projects? Thank you in advance.

Redo the ideas exactly, tweak them, or even mash them up. As long as the result lights up your life and makes you happy it'll be worth the effort. Mad Scientists Light by tim-1138 The perfect touch for that lab you've been dreaming of putting together. Japanese lamp from recycled materials by PKM Put a bit of scrap materials together in this clever way and you'll be able to add a touch of class to your den. Big lamps from Ikea lampan lamps by daan These lamps are quite plain on their own, but start putting them together and you can make something amazing. Universal lamp shade polygon building kit by dan This classic Instructable uses only one cutout shape to create and extraordinarily wide array of lamp shapes. Geometric Cut Paper Table Lamp by drips Start cutting up paper to create a lamp and you'll soon see that the possibilities are endless. Keep experimenting with shapes and sizes to get the light you want. Paper Wall Lamp by naedhi One string of rope lights and a slick use of paper to diffuse the light creates a nice modern lamp. Getting Started with PIC

Hello again, I'm looking for suggestion or first hand accounts on getting started with programmable IC's. I'd say I have enough basic electronics skill to get by, but I'm completely new to programmable chips. So I'm asking where is the best place to start? I'm mostly just looking for hobby stuff at this point. The PICAXE stuff seems simple enough for a starting point, anyone have first hand experience there? I should note I don't have any access to programming though parallel ports, and I'm running Windows Vista, so any set up would need to support usb and my os. Additionally any recommendations on some reading would be nice too. Thanks again Nic

So I'm going to purchase an arduino Uno soon to make some robots. I already know how to program so that shouldn't be a worry, but I'm not exactly sure what motors and motor controllers work together.
