Ok... this was originally meant to be a Desert Eagle and it looked pretty good... but it didn't shoot very well at all, that's why I didn't call it a Desert Eagle. In the future (next week) i will make a replica that does shoot. Some features: 30 - 40+ ft range True trigger 8 round mag Sounds really cool CREDIT TO TRAUTS, SUBSCRIBE TO HIM!!! I USED HIS MECHANISM FOR THIS GUN. A VIDEO WILL BE UP THIS WEEK AND INSTRUCTIONS ON THE WEEKEND!!!

Over the summer, I designed and built an extremely simple single-shot .22 pistol. Below is a video showing all of the parts and the first shots fired. I did this as a design exercise and to see how hard it would be to build a reliable firearm, going from idea to 3D model to working prototype in about three weeks. So far I've fired over 200 rounds with 0 malfunctions, however some parts still need to be heat treated and I need to apply a finish and maybe add some sights. When it's completely finished, I'll port my blog posts into an instructable.

This was my first commissioned prop build as a favour for a friend of a friend. All in all they cost about £15 in materials and took a total of 42 hours to conceive and build (abit longer that expected). It was made on the base of a cheap toy gun which had to be modified and was then built upon with wood, paper mache, plastic and MDF. There are further step by step photos on my props blog. I hope you like them.

Would making homemade shotguns and handguns be considered to be illigal? I've made one, it was awsome. I took an old computer moniter and shot it. It went all the way through.Of course, when trying it the fist time, i mounted it to a tripod and pulled the trigger using string just to make sure the pipes were not going to blow up on my face!

Does anybody know if there is a way to measure the damage against the gelatin or another experiment i could do with the gun?

This is my first ever knex gun. I have called it the viper. it doesnt shoot that far but is more of a short range handgun than a powerful big gun. The gun has an expansion port so you can add other things to it but cannot be used when the handle is folded in. The handle can be folded up to make it easier to store

Is there any way to blacklist a tag? It's difficult to find any good prop indistructables behind the almost literal mountain of terrible knex content. It's a million knex results and like, two results i actually want to see.

I recently joined the homemade firearms community and realized that the group is focused on highly illegal NFA weapon construction and i want no part of it. I thought this would be a group of mature law abiding amateur gunsmiths building legal single shot, bolt guns or semi-auto rifles and handguns but based on the few posts I read, this is not the case.

I'm new to the 123D world and have a question about capturing thin items like handgun grip panels. I was wondering about the kickback from a gun, i know that fired normally a gun kicks up but i thought what if you hold it upside down? will it kick upwards like usual or will it kick towards the ground? Thanks in advance for your answers. O and is the effect the same with handguns and pistols?

I've been doing a lot of stuff the past week. I have to memorize songs for band, do summer homework, yada, yada, yada. But, as always, I've found time for K'nex, and this is what I've come up with. If there's enough interest in any combination of these, I'll post accordingly. The first picture is of the 'collaboration project' I had with Dr. Richtofen. X3 It really wasn't a collaboration... It was really me looking back through Dr. Richtofen's many successful attempts at a non-shooting Walther PPK and trying to make them shoot. When I was finished building, I realized something: there was no firing pin for the gun that would make sense; the red rod was too short (it didn't reach the end of the barrel) and the black rod was too long (it stuck out the end). I could've used a red rod firing pin and jammed the bullets down the barrel, (it was a singleshot) but I thought better of it. I'd say at least 50% credit goes to Dr. Richtofen for that project. The second picture is just a random little pistol I made out of boredom after scrapping the PPK. it was cute and compact, but the next day, after I woke up at three in the morning because I couldn't sleep, I had a revelation... What if I used the type of trigger off of The Racker Rifle (link below) on a mag in the handle gun, and positioned it just perfectly as to have the trigger block behind the handle. I'd then give it removable magazines like on Blue Mullet's K'nex Handle Removable Pistol (link below). The last three pictures are the result of about an hours work so far; I may update again soon. (Oh, and the Elvis mouse pad is my Dads, not mine; my Dad's a big fan, obviously.) The Racker's The Racker Rifle: https://www.instructables.com/id/The-Racker-Rifle/ Blue Mullet's K'nex Handle Removable Pistol: https://www.instructables.com/community/Knex-Handle-removable-magazine-pistol/ Thanks for viewing! UPDATE: The big pistol thing is now named George, and I have pictures of it completed structurally, and internally. It is now in Pre-Beta. UPDATE/NOTE: The internals you see in the last picture won't work, sadly. I've updated it so that it now functions.

My 7yo was begging for a bubble gun, and I promised I'd 3d print him one. To my surprise, there are very few 3d printable bubble machine designs around, and none that match what he wants. (He wants it to have a handle and trigger like a handgun.) So, I suppose I'll be designing one. . . (FYI - My parts bin has plenty of fans and motors and even small liquid pumps and I am competent at 3d design. ) My challenge is that the basic rotating disk method of wetting the bubble hoops is both too bulky for a handgun-style bubble shooter, and is highly spill-able. I see online there are numerous toy bubble guns that look like what I want and appear to be much less spill-able. However, I can't figure out from the pictures how they work, beyond that there is a pump that sends bubble solution to above the hoop and a funnel to route the excess back into the container. How does the bubble solution get swiped across the hoop reliably? (And, yes, I know it would be easier and cheaper to just buy one. That's not the point.)

How do i go about making one of these i have a few ideas floating around but the sound well "primative". i want to make one myself cuz for me they are too tedious to load to cheap and break easy and the ones tht are sturdy are wayyy to expansive for a weekend worrior. also the clips only hold like 15 for a handgun and we play from like 10 feet away from each other and dont need a rifle. also they just arent accurate enuff. and dont go as far. i see some ppl playing in fields like as big as football feilds and if i tried tht the ball would curve wayyyyyy off half way orrr not make it there. and the exensive ones do tht but are toooooo expansive. For me and my friends airsoft is a paintball subsistute cuz here in maryland it gets really cold and paintball supplies are only found at the nearest wal-mart. so i want a realiable semi-auto, self built gun.

Hi all, I've been asked to design a "Hellboyish BIG handgun" to shoot "holy water dart bullets at demons" for a show that is in pre-production. I've decided that rather than the usual "glue a bunch of stuff onto an existing toy gun and spray paint it" prop build I would like to actually make a functional metal prop gun (functional in that all the parts should work like a real gun but of course not actually shoot real bullets). Soooo.... my plan is to design the look of it and then work with a gunsmith to design the functionality; get the parts milled and then assemble it. Simple, right? Anyway, I'm not sure where to start so I'm calling out to the Instructables community. Has anyone built their own guns from scratch? Does anyone have advice? Right now I'm looking into companies that customize existing guns but what I really need is to start from scratch. All advice appreciated! DAZU

Ok well i wanna know if i should post this true trigger pistol i made. its a semi automatic rubberband gun. its pretty decent, and can hold as many small rbs as u want, but after about 12 rbs, it gets hard to load. so should i post? and please rate EDIT: i took most of the pics, and will get the instructions up ASAP, but that might be a while cuz im getting left 4 dead today... ANOTHER EDIT: i AM going 2 post wen i finish with the detachable mag idea that me and dunkis were talking about. it might be a while, but ill get it up AGAIN, ANOTHER EDIT: i made the gun, i have all the pics except for the front of the barrel. i made it so it shoots pieces, but reloading takes a long time, so im just gonna post the rbg version, it is SLIGHTLY modified to have a longer barrel, and a slanted handle PLEASE RATE

Alright, someone needs to say this so i will. Knex guns are stuck in this sort of, generic handguns, average assault rifles, shotguns with nothing new. We all need to rack our brains and come up with some concepts, then post them. So we can all have a crack at a what would be considered "HARD" concept. We need to be trying new ideas. We're stuck in a dark age of nothing new (only rarely something good might come out) we need to step forward . Basically, I'd much rather see some pics of a failed concept and what you were trying to acheive than, "Removable Mag Handgun" or "M8AR (MegaMetal8's Assault Rifle)" which is just a generic removable mag gun. I Say one of us with quite alot of subs needs to make a ible/forum where EVERYONE has access and can post concepts. Its just getting boring with all this, so for more fun and ideas. Together, LETS DO THIS! Thankyou for reading and together we can make this happen. -MM8

Hi, first of all, I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place, if I'm not I apologize, but I couldn't find any that seemed more correct. Anyway, my grandfather passed away many years ago and among his knickknack were two handguns and two rifles that he had crafted for a funfair he worked at. (Images at the bottom) All 4 are originally made shoot light as far as I'm aware (he passed away when I was very young, and I've never seen them in action), they look like they are meant for light at least, as they all have lenses inside the barrel. That said they don't look functional anymore, and especially not the rifles as my little brother wanted to rebuild them for laser tag, but only got as far as taking them apart. The thing is I have some experience with electronics (Arduino, Raspberry PI and more) and a few years of experience programming (though mainly pc programs). I want to make something with them, but I've had them kicking around for a while now, but to be honest, I have no idea what I could do with them. Any and all ideas are appreciated =) (except suggestions about turning them into real weapons ;) ) Regards -Logan

Apple has released the new iPhone--and there are Instructables to make it better. Check out these iPhone-related Instructables, some of our favorites, that can make your iPhone better prepared for everyday use. Retractable Headphones Headphones are always getting tangled up in knots, but these recoiling headphones will keep the wires conveniently curled up and ready to use. Business Card Stand Using just a business card, you can make this simple stand on which you can watch movies or just let your iPhone rest. Handgun Handset By talking into the grip, listening through the barrel, and starting and finishing your calls with a pull of the trigger of this modified airsoft gun, your iPhone calls will never be the same again. If you get trigger-happy, though, you might end up with a bunch of dropped calls. Book Safe As long as you don't choose a piece of classic literature, you can safely conceal your iPhone inside of a book with this design. Car Stand You don't want to be talking on your phone while you're driving, but this car stand will keep the iPhone in a convenient position for music and other purposes during car trips. One-Hand Use A simple loop attached to the back of the iPhone can make one-handed iPhone-ing simple and secure. And these are just a few--there are plenty more great iPhone Instructables to use!

Alright, since my orangeboard has decided to revolt against me posting pictures on it I will post them here. Unlike the Springbreaker, this gun is fully functional and working perfectly. The Competitor Rival III is an Adaptive Magazine Rifle meaning you can shoot more types of ammunition with one gun. I made it so magazine well is adjustible so it can shoot sizes ranged from gray connectors to yellow rods. I have pictures here of it's blue rod magazine and it's yellow rod magazine. Why do I have pictures here you may ask. Well, I haven't built a rifle since, hmmmm....., Springbreaker? Anyway I want to know what you think of it and if it really does look as good as I think it does. Also how to take better take pictures of it (I'm so use to making handguns and submachine gun sized guns!). What angles should I try, so it shows off the most detail because as you can see it was kinda hard. Anyway thanks for looking and commenting, this will be posted in the contest with Competitor III so good luck! A gun that fires variable speed bullets and which can be set to kill, wound or just inflict a bruise is being built by a US toy manufacturer. The weapon is based on technology used to propel toy rockets.Lund and Company Invention, a toy design studio based near Chicago, makes toy rockets that are powered by burning hydrogen obtained by electrolysing water. Now the company is being funded by the US army to adapt the technology to fire bullets instead.Bruce Lund, the company's CEO, says the gun works by mixing a liquid or gaseous fuel with air in a combustion chamber behind the bullet. This determines the explosive capability of the propellant and consequently the velocity of the bullet as it leaves the gun. "Projectile velocity varies from non-lethal at 10 metres, to lethal at 100 metres or more, as desired," says Lund. The existing VWS design is a .50 calibre (12.7 mm) rifle weapon, but Lund says the technology can be scaled to any size, "handgun to Howitzer".Experts warn that fatal mistakes could be made in stressful situations, with angry soldiers turning the dial up on mobs, or forgetting to turn it up when confronted by a situation that requires a lethal response.Me, I think we're more likely to find all the secret Star Trek fans crawling out of the military woodwork, cries of set weapons to "stun", Number One echoing across the training grounds...As an aside, Lund are the people behind Tickle Me Elmo as well, which makes images of armies of armed Elmos marching towards a mob; Hee hee hee, this will tickle, hee hee hee!Article in New Scientist

Without looking at this question, the best answer would probably be to buy a new one, but that doesn't apply here. Well a while back I bought G2 airsoft handgun for me and a couple of friends. Long story-short, they broke. First the mag release broke, then the bottom of the mag itself, then finally an internal part. I reinforced the mag with tape, but I couldn't do much for the internals. Recently, my friend decided to buy another one, a G13, which is a 1911 replica. Problem is that it comes from the same company, Galaxy, so I'm doubting the quality. I haven't been able to get a definite answer, but some people who own the gun believe the internals are made of ABS plastic, which is better than the plastic in the G2. For the future, I would like to reinforce the internals with a thin layer of something? Off the top of my head, I thought of enamel paint, shellac, and fiberglass resin. I'm not sure if a couple of thin coatings would do anything. I've heard that friendly plastic is very durable as well. I could potentially use that to mold my own renewable internals. But I have no experience with that either, and doubt it could be molded into certain specifications. Any ideas on how to increase durability? I'm not expecting for it to last forever. I just need an extension on its really short lifetime (couple of months). Looking for a cost-friendly idea.
Question by alester333 7 years ago
So some time ago, i was at an Academy store and did an impulse purchase. Spent $50 on this durable, watertight pistol case as seen in the accompanied image. For a few weeks, i have just let it sit in my room and thinking about what to do with it. Then i thought "What about a Portable PC?". So i did some measurements, the interior is roughly 12x9x5 inches in Length, Width, and Depth (if you count the lid's interior). At best i have some components, such as a 10 Inch screen from an old netbook, i already have the controller board to make it a regular monitor for a few purposes. But a few things im not clear on is what components would best fit this case? I know its too small for most motherboards, and im not intending to use a Raspberry Pi or a Linux OS. And i also want to do as little drilling or cutting into the case as possible to retain its moisture resistance. If i had to list any criteria for such a build, there would be: Information Storage Connectivity to Larger Screens (aka stationary "tower") Wifi Capability Emergency Power Source Thats just off the top of my head, tbh. In short, im wanting to make a utilitarian computer that could survive (and possibly thrive) in a disaster situation of non-biblical proportions, all crammed into a case that was meant to hold a handgun. Keep in mind i have little to some electronics experience, but i have built a pc before. So who has any advice or what-have-you to point me in the right direction? (i hope this evolves into something pretty dang good. i do believe its kind of a challenge to pull something like this off, going with a case roughly half the size of your standard PC tower)
