Where is the best place to find a replacement screen for an old discontinued Hitachi 65 inch back projection?

I need to find a replacement screen for our 65" Hitachi back projection TV model number 65T500. Just the outer most screen layer is cracked, you can still see everything fine with the TV on, just there's a crack in the way... I've searched on Google, but no luck. I've also searched on the Hitachi website, but I can't find that model number at all... Links would be great! Thanks! -Shadow Ops

30GB 1.8" IDE, 160GB 2.5" SATA and a 3.5" 180GB HDD and I want to power them all from the SAME power supply, how? Answered

I am not looking for how to build the enclosure because that part isn't electrical (an area of expertise where I'm lacking), just how do I power them all because I am fairly certain that the USB port is not strong enough on it's own. Thanks all!

how can I turn an old laptop monitor into a usable stand alone display?

I recently disassembled an old ibm thinkpad 380E laptop i had laying around. I have the guts and all that including the wire harness's and power inverter. The screen model is a Hitachi SX31S004 or ibm P/n 12J0130. I want to use the lcd by itself without having to get the laptop running as I have removed it from the case and have the board sitting in a drawer. I suppose I could reassemble the thing but I dont want to use all that. I would like to find the pinouts for the lcd but they have proven very hard to find. IF anyone can point in the right direction that would be tops. then maybe I can build something and make and instructable too

SMall LCD screen help

I have managed to get my hands on a Hitachi LCD module. Its a thin flat colour screen. Viewing area is 242x69mm and has a resolution of 320x240. Its model number is LMG9520RPCC-A. I have 2 data sheets for it but unfortunately no power or interface cables. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can use this? I have called Hitachi and am awaiting a response on to what cables I need and how to get them. But in case I cant get them has anyone any ideas on how Id put it to use? I was thinking of making a digital photo frame but...what sort of video feed will it accept? What pins do I connect to? Any geniuses out there who know a thing or 2 about screens?

Rectifier Diodes

My friend took apart his broken Kenwood amplifier. He used his multimeter to find the broken part,  then removed the RM4Z rectifier diode. I've been searching for about an hour, but I cannot find any websites that sell the RM4Z diode. The closest I have found was one from Hitachi, but I read that the RM4Z was from a Chinese company. Suggestions?

mini 5gb hitachi hdd re-purpose/integrate into speaker system (LOTS OF HELP lol)

Well, where to begin? I have a 5gb hitachi microdrive sitting in my lap right now, and i was thinking of possible  uses. ironically the idea I came up with is pretty much exactly what it came from. mp3player lol. I do have the rest of the mp3, which to my knowledge has no damage except a removed screen that was shattered many moons ago. So i shouldnt have to format it or anything.  ~Can I adapt some other random lcd screen/ externally operate via laptop or phone. ~could it be integrated into an amplifier circuit so that i could hook speakers up direct ~if yes ^ would any of you fine specimen be willing to either guide, or send me links for a VERY simple beginner amplifier circuit. (i dont have an LM386 taken apart tons of stuff, cant find one. and i am very much so a beginner.) ~ are there ANYYY ideas for possible other uses/configurations. I have an arduino but ive yet to begin study (on the grounds that I believe I should start with basic components and circuits b4 code) ~i have questions for dayysss.. would anybody care to do a little tutoring here and there when I have questions? Im no dumby, but I am just beginning so patience may be required, along with a casual tongue.  ~lastly, im poor. I mean like REALLY poor, donations? lmao no jk jk jk. however Im unable to purchase anything at all. I do on the other hand have a mismatched selection of harvested pcb's littered with the good stuff, so if given ample time and alternatives I may posses the required component.                                                                                                                                                                           Much appreciated,                                                                                                                                                                                  Codyb816

Swapping primary drive? Answered

I have laptop with a dying seagate drive, and before it dies completely, I got a hitachi drive as a replacement. My question is, how can I copy the disk exactly onto the new drive, keeping all files and programs intact so I don't have to re-install windows. I'm guessing I can't just copy and pasts, but maybe using xcopy? I have plenty of other computers and cables to use for transferring if needed.

Bios speaker randomly beeping? Answered

I finished building my computer a while ago, but initially removed the BIOS speaker as it kept beeping. Not a full alarm like if it were overheating, just a pathetic little "bip" every 10 minutes or so. The speaker is connected properly and it is the one that came with the board, and it makes a proper beep when I turn the computer on. I have disabled the CPU fan warning as I had it connected to my fan controller instead, and I also have thermal sensors on everything and everything runs nice and cool, so I honestly can't figure out what the problem is. I thought it may have been my dying hard drive, but I have replaced it now with a brand new hitachi 500gb sata-II drive that runs smoothly and I still get the problem (it just went off again whilst tying this). Any idea on what could be causing this problem and how to fix it (without removing the speaker). I have also tried it on Ubuntu and Windows, and I get the same problem, not that it should matter.

Nintendo DS TFT LCD Display mod's etc...

This is my first post here, though i have been visiting instructables for quite a while now. Anyway, straight to the point. I have been searching the web for LCD controllers and drivers for the better part of a year now. My hope was to find some web source that might give me some insight on how to reuse an old, but still functional, Nintendo DS TFT LCD display. My efforts thus far have been fruitless. I was hoping that someone with greater knowledge of LCD's and or LCD controllers might post an instructable on Finding/Building/Using a LCD controller. My ultimate goal here is to use the top LCD from the DS as a Heads Up Display/Widget Display for my PC. Hopefully connected via USB. Additionally, my dream would be to have a custom built tablet of sorts that uses the bottom LCD/Touch screen to control widgets and/or (insert media player of choice) via the touch screen. I know this is a rather daunting task, but really all i am hoping for is a little more information from those in the instructables community who have more knowledge on the subject than i do. Info on the LCD TFT LCD Display Manufacturer: Sharp or Hitachi (i'm not sure) Size: 3-Inch Resolution: 256 x 192

Disk boot error? Answered

Last night, I wanted some files off my laptop drive, so I stuck it in an external enclosure and plugged it into my desktop (whilst on). I then turned off the desktop without unplugging my laptop drive and turned it on again today, forgetting to unplug it. I have USB booting enabled, so it tried to boot from the laptop drive and as I was out of the room when it was booting, it entered the recovery partition as the hardware is incompatible. I have done this before, so I just turned off my computer, unplugged the drive, and restarted. Instead of booting from my primary internal drive, it got stuck on the post screen. It detected it, but wouldn't go any further. I then thought that it was still looking for the USB drive, so changed the boot order and removed usb boot, same problem. Removing my primary drive just returned the error "disk boot error, insert boot drive and press enter to continue", so I inserted the primary hard drive (I have it in a hot-swap bay, so it can easily be removed, although being my primary hard drive, not "hot"). After doing so, it kept returning a similar error. I then figured that it was still looking for my laptop drive as a primary boot device, so I cleared CMOS with the jumper and after setting it up again, disabling every other bootable interface except the sata port my primary drive is connected to, and it still just gets stuck on post. I have left it about 10 mins and still get the same problem. It is also hard to enter BIOS or any of the other utilities, as it waits until after post, so I have to either remove all drives or insert the laptop drive in it's enclosure. How can I get my desktop to boot from the primary hard drive again? Inserting the install disk is also hard, because I don't actually have a DVD drive yet, so I installed Windows 7 extended trial through a memory stick from my laptop with a disk drive. I have since deleted it off my memory stick, and my laptop is now in pieces hooked up to my monitor/keyboard/mouse instead of my desktop. It is on it's back and the hard drive bay is open in case I need it again. My BIOS is award with additional features on a Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3 board. Both drives are Hitachi sata-II drives, one being 3.5" and one being 2.5".

Problem driving a stepper motor using the A4988 reprap driver board and an Arduino? Answered

Hi guys I am having a problem driving a stepper motor using the A4988 reprap driver board and an Arduino I have set up the wiring using an example I found online (Diagram attached: A4988 wiring) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CmjB4WF5XA.. However the motor does not seem to turn. The motor I am using is from an old Hitachi printer which I took apart a while back. Printed on it is 0.9A/ph. It has six wires however I am using it as a bipolar stepper by just leaving the center tap of each winding unconnected. I have adjusted the VREF on the A4988 board to insure that the current is limited bellow the 0.9A. To do this I used the data sheet of the A4988. As I wanted to run the motor at full step mode, the A4988 data sheet specifies that the winding current could only reach 70 percent of the current limit. consequently: Current limit = 0.9 * 0.7 = 0.63A Current limit = Vref * 2, Therefor Vref = 0.63/2 = 0.315V or 315mV I have therefor set the current limit using the potentiometer on the A4988 to aprox 315mV Once the wiring was set up, I applied power and measured the Vref to confirm it is still the same and it was. Next I disconnected the Power to both the Arduino and the driver and connected in the stepper motor. I then connected the power and uploaded the following code: // defines pins numbers const int stepPin = 3; const int dirPin = 4; void setup() { // Sets the two pins as Outputs pinMode(stepPin,OUTPUT); pinMode(dirPin,OUTPUT); } void loop() { digitalWrite(dirPin,HIGH); // Enables the motor to move in a particular direction // Makes 200 pulses for making one full cycle rotation for(int x = 0; x < 200; x++) { digitalWrite(stepPin,HIGH); delayMicroseconds(500); digitalWrite(stepPin,LOW); delayMicroseconds(500); } delay(5000); // five second delay digitalWrite(dirPin,LOW); //Changes the rotations direction // Makes 400 pulses for making two full cycle rotation for(int x = 0; x < 400; x++) { digitalWrite(stepPin,HIGH); delayMicroseconds(500); digitalWrite(stepPin,LOW); delayMicroseconds(500); } delay(5000); } Nothing happened... started off with 5 volts on the power supply and ramped it up to aprox 12vs however still nothing happened. I can feel the heat sink heating up on the A4988 which means power was reaching it. I measured the voltages from the Arduino to the A4988 and the power supply to the driver and the voltages matched the input. I started shaking about the power connections to and suddenly the motor made one step, but that was it. So i thought it was a problem with the breadboard. I checked the connections on the breadboard and all where connected. To be safe i decided to use another breadbord. Again nothing happened. I checked the Aarduino using the 28byj48 and UNL203 driver and stepper that came with it and they worked fine. I confirmed the wiring sequences and layout multiple times and they all matched the tutorial I followed. My inital thinking was that the stepper motor was broken, so i disconnected it and tried running it using the power supple (5V) by connecting and disconnecting each coil in manually one by one, and it turned one step at a time, which meant that the stepper was working. Finally i decided to see if current was reaching the stepper, I therefore connected the Altimeter in series with one of the coils and it did not read any current, which meant that current was not reaching the coils. Now I am unsure what to do, or what has gone wrong. The vref still reads aprox 310 - 320 mV, this makes me assume that driver is not fried. I do have another A4988 driver however I started working on that one and now the Vref does not go above 62mV so I'm guessing that it is burnt, however the second one reads fine. I have tried using the enable button with the following code (Attached; A4988 wiring 2) however it still didnt' make in difference. The following code is what i used for when I set the enabled to low (Note that the pin numbers have been changed) int Index; void setup() { pinMode(4, OUTPUT); //Enable pinMode(2, OUTPUT); //Step pinMode(3, OUTPUT); //Direction digitalWrite(4,LOW); } void loop() { digitalWrite(3,HIGH); for(Index = 0; Index < 2000; Index++) { digitalWrite(2,HIGH); delayMicroseconds(500); digitalWrite(2,LOW); delayMicroseconds(500); } delay(1000); digitalWrite(3,LOW); for(Index = 0; Index < 2000; Index++) { digitalWrite(2,HIGH); delayMicroseconds(500); digitalWrite(2,LOW); delayMicroseconds(500); } delay(1000); } Why did the motors initially step (only one step upon each shake) when I shook the power supply leads? I am afraid to try that again as I think this is what damaged the first driver I was using. And why is there no current reaching the coils? I would really appreciate an opinion on this issue as I have no idea what to do Many thanks for you time. Adnan
