how can i build a notification sound on my son's toy car, while it hittingsome where(with Jerking IC)

Hi, well, i would like to make a special kind of horn, for just making a notification while jerking the toy car of my son. now a days, he is hitting his toy car while driving his from Indore. so, i though that, if i am assembling a toy horn, with a jerking IC or a motion IC, it will be nice to him. but, i am not aware of, what and what needed for to make this. what i need to make is, if i am attaching this, under the toy car of my son, and while riding, if he hits some where, the body of the car will get a little shake, this point, the device should work as a notification horn. i am sure that, this will make more fun for him. be kind to guide waiting to get yours aithfully shinu

Who plays Baritone/Euphonium/Baritone Horn?

Who plays baritone? And whoever does, do you have the sheet music for: "Peer Gynt, In The Home Of The Mountain King"? If so, please post.

Motion Triggered Horns

I'm starting this one over, I made a mess of the last topic. Essentially what I'm starting with is a driveway wireless alert system (http://imgur.com/a/RgDeG)  and a car horn. The car horn is wired to a push button switch. (http://imgur.com/lg7Gbvj) What I'm trying to do is replace the [S] (switch) with this wireless trigger. The alarm speaker outputs at a very low voltage, ~0.08v: https://vimeo.com/75827101 The alarm LED's output 1.75v (measured from + on the one LED and - on the other, there are three total, in series) What would be the best place to tap in to get voltage from to trigger the relay? I think from the previous post I'll need a transistor switch of some sort? This is the part I need help with. Usage: Tractor pulling hayrack riders over a bridge, I'll place the sensors ahead of the horns so by the time the tractor is at the sensor the hayrack is right at the horns. Hope I posted in the right spot. Thanks

Novelty Car Horn - Help!

I bought an Ooga horn, and a button wiring kit, but i'm having some trouble...First off, there's no relay, should there be? Also, do i need to buy an additional toggle switch? I don't want to replace my existing horn, simply add another horn. Do I need a new fuse, too? And...I don't really understand the diagram, so if anybody knows where to find better instructions, or can provide them, that would be greatly appreciated.Key to the diagram:1: Original Horn2: Existing Fuse3: Horn switch on steering wheel4: Fuse 10 Amp5: Selector SwitchMy HornThanks!

Making an OWOOGA horn... How?

I need to know how to make a motor driven horn, the kind that goes OWOOOOOOGA! OWOOOOGA! Any tips? I know I need a motor of some sort, got one, unless it's not big enough(one of the little ones that can run off a D battery, even one AAAA drove it pretty good), I know I need some type of funnel(or do I?), but what can make it go OWOOGA! OWOOOOGA! By the way, I'm putting it on my bicycle. Yeah, I know. It's weird. But imagine it; You are walking in the street(not enough sidewalks around here) and OWOOOGA! OWOOOOGA! You turn around and a bicycle goes by you. No cars around. That would be different.

Matching speakers to amplifier

I have purchased 2 Maxamp20 amplifiers (http://store.accusafe.nl/modules/versterkers/maxamp20-met-3-5mm-connector) and i am trying to match speakers to them, i've searched audio forums for information (that i mostly don't understand) and tried asking questions (that have been mostly ignored) and i think i've found appropriate speakers but i want to get a second opinion before i purchase stuff i might not be able to return. i don't have the space for and can't afford the weight requirements of a large enclosure but i want fairly high volume and wide dispersion so im looking at getting 2 of these PA horns (http://www.specotech.com/index.php/products/audio/item/542-spc40rp) to mount on top of a shallow down firing enclosure for 2 of these subs (http://store.accusafe.nl/onderdelen/luidsprekers/subwoofer/dayton-audio-sd215a-88-8-dvc-subwoofer-speaker). i know the subs work with that amplifier because they are used in Boominators (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/class-d/104402-boominator-another-stab-ultimate-party-machine.html) but i have no idea about the horns. also assuming this setup is okay do i need some kind of filter or crossover (not sure of the difference) to split the sound safely between the midrange and the sub speakers?

Not as cute as Womble...but he comes close!

*see here and here if you don't know your Instructables history* This is my family's new-old Cushman electric vehicle. Yes, it's the same sort of thing you see reading parking meters downtown. Yay for tiny awesome cars that don't use gas! Any ideas for fun modifications? Plans so far include having a silly little decal printed for each side with an amber light on top so we look official, and mounting some 12V air horns in there to rattle the hubcaps off the jerks that pull out in front of it (We already mounted an electric ooga horn in my mom's Xebra SD, but air horns are so much more fun). Cardboard rockets that fire off of compressed air have also been proposed. He also has no name yet...we'll be working on that...

Spam/sponsored content

Where does the line between spam and sponsored content go? I'm specifically thinking about instructables like these: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Choose-The-Right-Train-Horn/ https://www.instructables.com/id/Things-To-Consider-Before-Purchasing-Window-Coveri/ They are fairly informative, but also contain advertisement for a company. Where does the line go? I see a lot of these ibles.

Passive Amplifier Optimized for a Single Frequency

First off, I know next to nothing about acoustics or sound science of any kind.  My idea is to make some sort of passive amplifier, like a horn, that is optimized for a single frequency, I'm thinking about 4KHz.  I have no clue how to go about designing such a thing and all the info I found on google was too complicated for me to understand.  Does anyone has any starting points for me or just general advice/suggestions?  Or, if you're feeling generous and/or really bored, would anyone like to design such a thing for me? Thanks ~Josh

It's my birthday!

It's my birthday today, the 19th of may... I'm 18 and well have been around for around 18 years now. Even jackalopes have birthdays, granted people would find them to be bizarre and fear inducing events we do have them, along with horns. The guys in the chatroom will be glad of this, every time we were talking it's ended up with me launching in to brithday excitement, I didn't have much of one last year so... It's also coming up on my instructabirthday... I know it was absolutely childish to have a forum post but who cares...

Drill battery Switch

Hello! i got a car horn with an motor, the motor is rated 12 Volts so i got a 12 volt drill battery since im not going to install it on a car. However, i got a problem... My plan is to mount 2 switches, a Keyswitch and a push buttom switch. so i bough that .. However it made me think if the small switches can take the Power of the drill batt. I have no idea how many AMps a drill batt got, and the key switch is rated 0,5A / 250 VAC and i the push/switch one is a standart like this https://elextra.dk/images/large/8011.jpg .. Help making hearing aid

Hello! I need a bit of help for a project I am undertaking to make.My is to make such a device which detects the user whether a car or any other vehicle is approaching or not. The project is dedicated for the people who are deaf and cannot cross roads safely. What I think a solution could be is to make such a sensor which detects the horn of a car which further activates a vibrating motor in the pocket of the user. The vibratng motor is not at all an issue but the sensor being the problem. If anyone can please help either by giving your own solution or helping me in what I propose to do. Please help as this is not anything personal but a social cause. Hope to get an answer. Pranjal

Vuvuzela filtering for World Cup

The biggest complaint I keep hearing about the World Cup is about the vuvuzelas, plastic horns that get blown for everything and nothing. This makes me almost glad that I'm missing practically every game because of the broadcast times and the fact that my TV only has bunny ears for reception. Well, PopSci has found that some people are fighting back by filtering out the frequencies of the vuvuzelas at 233 Hz, 466 Hz, 932 Hz, and 1864 Hz. It's a good enough trick that it makes me almost want to upgrade my setup so that I can try it out. Simple Software Can Filter Out That Vuvuzela Whine From World Cup Broadcasts

10 Pranks from Instructables HQ

It’s not yet the middle of March, which means plenty of time for planning and executing the perfect April Fools Day prank. (Also, there’s a contest you should enter if you’ve got a great prank to share.) HQ has been batting around prank ideas for a solid month, and Mikeasaurus is about to ruin a lifetime of polite Canadian good karma with an expanding list of prank ideas. We’ll be attempting to wire my brake lights to a hidden car horn later this month, and Mikeasaurus has been surreptitiously stealing trash from around the office to gently prank the trash collectors at his house. (Making Ghandi look scary was just the tip of the iceberg.) Most of our office pranks are harmless, and harmlessness is one of the goals in our prank contest. A quick surprise, easy cleanup, and no bodily harm are the guiding principles for sustaining a prank war. Rapid escalation leads to eventual hurt feelings or a hospital trip, neither of which are useful for next year’s April Fools shenanigans. As of March 12th, the prank war is still cold at Instructables headquarters. Randofo (a man who knows his way around a prank or two) and Mikeasaurus (who is no stranger to pranks himself) are taunting one another with various super-secret pranks that will be deployed on April 1st. Pranking Mr. Saurus from afar was an office pastime while he was relegated to the frozen tundra of urban Vancouver last year. Skirting the fine line between hilarious electronics-based pranks and the very real possibility of an eagle-eyed x-ray operator reporting us to the authorities prevented anything too terrible from happening to him in Canada. But now he’s within arm’s reach of his prank nemesis. Here's a quick rundown of past pranks perpetrated by Instructables staff at HQ: The Prank Box - randofo "It is very funny to watch people ponder the implications of the device, reluctantly turn it on, and then stress out when they cannot turn it off. It is even funnier to get panicked emails from your friend in Canada after you mail it to him without any explanation, and he decides to ignore the directions on the box and turn it on." Watch the video Car Horn Prank Box - randofo "A beloved coworker is returning from Canada soon and in his honor I have created the car horn prank box. Basically, when the red button is pressed, and an LED blinks indicating that there is thirty seconds in which to hide the box somewhere dark. Once the thirty seconds expire, the next time that the box sense light, the car horn honks very loudly. The amount of potential mischief that this device can produce makes it a perfect welcome back gift." Watch the video Mystery Beeping Prank - randofo The Mystery Beeping Prank is a device hidden in a hollowed out book that beeps intermittently at different frequencies. I made this because I am surrounded by a lot of incredibly creative people who have a penchant for pranking one another, and this seemed like the most subtly annoying thing that I could think of. Watch the video LieDar - FAT lab Sometimes you just want to pretend to be driving around in a driverless car. You're just a rented Fiat, a few hours of 3D printing, and a pair of big brass ball bearings from pranking an entire city with technological delight, then confusion, then concern. Watch the video Air Horn Office Chair Prank - mikeasaurus The office is a great place to prank your coworkers. Interrupt the white noise of typing keyboards and the hum of the photocopier with a blaring klaxon hidden under someone's office chair. Watch the video Magnetic Axe Prank - mikeasaurus Good with metal? Try hacking an axe in half, adding some powerful magnets, and pretending to put an axe through the hood of a car, into someone's nice stainless fridge, or anything else ferrous and nefarious. Phony Fliers with Rip-Off Tabs - mikeasaurus Surprise and delight the local nerd community with these phony fliers. References to Star Trek, Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Half-Life abound. Make your own, set up a dummy email address, and watch the weird responses roll in. WC White Box of Doom - MC Langer Not technically from HQ, but MC Langer spent enough time at HQ to feel like part of the family. His "Water Closet White Box of Doom" is hilarious, ingenious, and unlikely to cause permanent harm. He also tests it on himself, which is awesome. (It's a jar of water in a first aid kit that tips the water onto someone if they trigger the toilet seat switch. It also includes a Bazinga scroll that pops out to let the victim know that they've been the victim of a classic jape.) Watch the video How To Put A Stapler In Jello - kazmataz Because Jim shouldn't have all the fun. (And Dwight shouldn't get all the jello.) Screaming Trash Bin Prank - Jayefuu Electronic trash cans seemed like such a good idea. At first. Then they stopped working reliably. Then they started screaming bloody murder thanks to Jayefuu. Viking Ship, Village or Helmet?

I've recently been allocated a project for school that needs to be done by the 28th February. The task is to either build a model viking ship, any size, any material or to build a viking outfit. Chances are, the entire out fit is impossible so I'm probably aloud to make a detailed helmet, with chain mail & leather cap underneath, or some other item of clothing. The last option is to build a model Viking town, it's aloud to be done on the computer as a 3d format, but I have no idea how to do this, any suggestions? I'm personally stuck on what to choose to make, or how to build it., what does every one else think? Remember, I'm going for a good mark here, but I also have the incapability to get things done amazingly quick. Cheers everyone, ~K (P.S. No horns for the helmet, although it's a popular myth it's supposedly not true in the history books.)

AVR sense/PWMing Help!

Hi again! I'm intent on finishing up a few loose end projects of mine, but before I do so, need the following information. How can I sense some resistance or voltage with my uC? I know I can do an a/d conversion, but that only triggers when Vin > some 1 preset value. I'm looking to make an adjustable knob to turn the intensity of an LED up and down. Also, how can I PWM some LEDs with my AVR uC - I can use the tiny2313 or mega8 or tiny 13, but I have no preference. I just need 3 different PWM channels. Any ideas? I already googled, but apparently I'm terrible at finding good tutorials. (oh, and I'm coding in C) The LEDs will be inserted into this nice, custom built (by myself) welded devil duckie. Horns and tail will turn to control RGB. Thanks a whole lot, -Muffin

I will paypal someone $10.00 dollars to draw this in breadboard fashion for me!

Hi, I really need help. I've been working on this dern motion detection alarm and am having problems with the delay circuit. I think I have assembled it right and it never works. I have completely re-done it twice! What it is supposed to do is once power from the relay is sent to the 555 timer it will impose a 1 minute delay before sending the power to the alarm/horn. This gives owner adequate time to enter code to disarm. The relay part of the circuit works fine and sends power to the 555 timer and latches as it should. However, the 555 timer never sends power out of pin 3. Could someone please, please, please draw the attached schematic in breadboard fashion so I can double check everything is assembled properly? I would really appreciate it!!! Anyways I will paypal someone $10.00 dollars to draw this in a breadboard layout for me!

Feedback-Clarinet Bike Concept

Not sure which forum this would fit into most effectively so I placed it here. I have quite a significant number of junk clarinets and I am looking to make/decorate a bicycle with them. It would clearly not be safe to make the frame from clarinets so I was thinking Id build it off of an old, black frame. The question comes down to construction. I am not sure how I would go about doing it. The inside of a clarinet is too narrow to slide down a bike's frame even if you could get it there. I considered drilling out the middle then cutting it in half in an attempt to affix it to the frame, but Im not sure. The other consideration was to remove all the metal pieces from a clarinet and attach them to a black frame in a manner reminiscent of clarinets. I also considered a variety of accessories, reed themed basket, clarinet-bell horn, etc. Any thoughts on the concept, additional ideas and/or ideas about the construction. Thanks!

Does Anyone have an old .10 or .15 size nitro airplane engine??

Hello, I am a fourteen year old young man who is new into the world of R/C airplanes and am wondering if anyone has an old .10 or .15 size nitro airplane engine laying around that I could have. I have built my own airplane out of foam board with a 28 inch wingspan and an 18 inch fuselage. It has servos and control lines leading to the elevator and rudder. Built to be a 3 Channel but can easily be made to be a 4. Also wondering if anyone has any clevises or control horns and random parts like that. I can provide pics of my plane upon request. Also looking for 3 or 4 channel radio and receiver. I have Max O.S. 60cc that can be offered as partial trade. I live in Little Rock Arkansas. Thanks Everyone!!!

Joystick stickshift

I have been using a joystick stickshift in my sports cars for years. Just recently i was asked to share how to do it.  A joystick from a computer aracde game can be hooked up to your stickshift to allow you to honk your horn, wash your windows, pop your doors, change radio stations, dim your lights or a number of other  neat things. I am new to this group so I am not sure about how to do stuff on here so bear  with me. Find a joystick that has enough buttons to do what you want it to do, dis assemble the joystick, isolate the different switching circuits, solder new leads, route thru to a relay board,  wrap the stickshift lever with blue painter's tape, bondo the  shaft of the stickshift to one half of the joystick case, pull stickshift lever free and re do on the other joystick handle.   The relay board  allows the small circuit capacity of the joystick to operate higher circuit loads.  Joy sticks will handle 1 amp max load thru their contacts.

Elder trades

Monster Hunter Monster Forest Elder Trade List FAQ FAQ written by S-Hiryu, WorldZero.com Created on October 3, 2004 Version: 1.04 Contents 1) How to Use this Guide 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order 3) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Order of Priority 4) Jungle (Area 5) Alphabetical Order 5) Jungle (Area 5) Order of Priority 6) Swamp (Area 1) Alphabetical Order 7) Swamp (Area 1) Order of Priority 8) Free Items 9) Contact and Copyright 1) How to Use this Guide The Forest Elder is an NPC who may be spoken with, and depending on the items in your possession, he may offer you a trade. Below is a list of each trade depending on what map you visit the Elder in. The Elder will only be in one specific area on each map. This is located in the parenthesis after the name of each map. For example, "Forest and Hills (Area 7)" means that the Elder may be found in Area 7 of the Forest and Hills map. Each map has two lists, an alphabetized list and an order of priority list. The alphabetized list is simply a list of the items given and received in alphabetical order. The item given is on the left, the item received is on the right. For example, "Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine" means if you have a Gravios Carapace in your possession and speak to the Elder, he will offer you a Diablos Spine in return. If you possess no items the Elder wants, he will instead offer you advice. The list is alphabetized by order of the item received (item on the right). The second list for each map is the order of priority list. The Elder will always look to trade the items highest on this list first and foremost. This means if you have an Insect Husk (the item with the highest priority) he will trade you for that before he will offer to trade for the item next on the priority list. If the item next on the list is not in your possession, he will move on to the one after that, and so on. The Elder will only trade with you four times on a single quest. The Elder will always base his trades on the priority lists. The list is prioritized by order of the item given (item on the left). During certain quests, Special Mushroom trades are not available. In such situations, the Elder will instead look for Iron Ore and offer a Small Monster Bone in its place. 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine Garbage -> Can you read it?

I've been meaning to show you this for a while, but I finally took some photos when I went to visit my parents. It's a clock. Really, it is. The arm rotates once per hour. The ball on the end is a camera, pointing at the ground. To tell the time, you walk around the clock to find out what hour is circled at the base of the arm, then look through one of the small round windows on the large sphere to see a TV that shows what the camera sees. The minutes are only marked every ten minutes, and in between those times the camera looks at featureless ground and confused people trying to see the time by looking up at the camera. On the hour, the arm raises in the air, and the camera has a look at the shop roofs, which are as ugly as commercial roofs the world over, and the speakers next to the benches (when they're working) make an odd fog-horn sort of noise. It's a bizarre, unfunctional object, in too small a space. Maybe if it was in a wide open square it would work as public interactive art, but here, wedged in a corner of a town with high unemployment it's a criminal waste of money.

Making pointy cone-shaped nipple covers...help!

Hi all! New to the board... So I am going to be fire for Halloween to complement my boyfriend's firefighter costume. I will be wearing a lot of body paint, a shelf bra, a skirt, and I will be making cone-shaped Madonna-style nipple covers (maybe I will make them horn/flame shaped I havent decided), that will point upward. I will paint flames on them that will continue on to the rest of my chest in body paint. I need your help in deciding how to make these pointy nipple pieces. I think they will be about 2 inches in diameter and be about 5 inches long. I was thinking of making them out of Polymer Clay and attaching them with Spirit Gum. They will be painted with acrylic. I am not sure if this is the best option or if spirit gum will even hold them in place. Is there a gooey-er adhesive I could use and a different material to make the cones? I am also hoping to make 3-5 smaller cones to paint flames on and attach to my arms. Any ideas? Thanks!! I appreciate all the feedback.

"designer" to help make exotic reflectors for unattended solar cooking.

I have been thinking about this idea for a while but there are so many options that  I took a while to pick one.  One idea was to have the 2 laser pointers on a turret like a microscope and move the model around underneath. Before you discount it as rubbish, please look about 5 minutes into this video  And pause it at about 5min 50 to see the "tuba like horns" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSMzKg6fwJ8    HIs design was done by computer and in my view is way too complicated but I hope it opens peoples eyes to some of the failings of parabolic dishes for unattended solar cooking. There ARE other options and they do not look anything like what we imagine. I believe that people can design exotic fairly high efficiency solar cookers (with a range of cooking times)  using the method I show. If anyone wants to help make the instructable more understandable, I can open it and make a collaboration. Or I can credit people for their input.    Also, it is community commons so it is no longer my idea, release and improve it anywhere you want. I will be improving the instructable myself over the coming weeks but do not expect instant improvement. The instructable is at https://www.instructables.com/id/Method-for-designing-reflectors-for-unattended-sol/ and I have attach a pic here to get people started (I will improve that picture too). Album Review: ZZ Top - Tres Hombres (1973) *****

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres (1973)NachoMahma's Rating: *****Frank Beard - drumsBilly Gibbons - guitar and vocalsDusty Hill - bass and vocals10 Tracks, total time 33:3301 - Waitin' For The Bus (2:53)02 - Jesus Just Left Chicago (3:32)03 - Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers (3:27)04 - Master Of Sparks (3:31)05 - Hot, Blue, And Righteous (3:18)06 - Move Me On Down The Line (2:31)07 - Precious And Grace (3:10)08 - La Grange (3:54)09 - Sheik (4:05)10 - Have You Heard? (3:13)Third album by the Texas trio. After 1972's rather fractured "Rio Grande Mud" the Little Ol' Band From Texas is finally getting their unique, bluesy sound down. All ten songs are solid ZZ Top and rate four or five stars (out of 5) - definitely a recommended buy. This album is before they discovered the horn section - just three gringos cranking out the tunes. From the slow "Hot, Blue and Righteous" to the Top 40 "La Grange" to the hard-driving "Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers," there's something here for just about every rock and roll fan - especially those with a taste for white-boy blues.

Have Any Good Stories to Share?

Got any interesting experiences you'd like to share? Scary? Happy? You get my point, right? Kind of like these:https://www.instructables.com/forum/Crazy-things-youve-done/https://www.instructables.com/forum/Driving-Stories/https://www.instructables.com/forum/Ever-saved-a-guys-life/Here's a scary experience I've had:. Some friends and I were bored so we took a walk to the fire station. We brought along some markers and cardboard and decided to kill time with some harmless Hijinks. We held up signs that said "Free Lemonade" with an arrow pointing in a random direction. People honked their car's horn or waved, it was all good and fun (We were in fifth grade BTW). About fifteen minutes in I hear screeching and my friend yells "RUN!". Not knowing what was happening, I look behind me and see a huge cloud of white smoke. We ditched the signs and booked it out of there. For a few seconds I didn't know what we were running from, but I could tell by the look on my friend's face it was bad. When I asked him later, he said that the guy driving the car looked pissed. He said the smoke was from the car pulling a hard U turn and accelerating towards us. We knew the car was chasing us so we ran into the bushes by the driveway of a cop's house. We heard a car coming up the driveway a few feet from us, and got really freaked out. We saw that it (thankfully) was the cop's patroll car. We ran up to him and told him about the car. He said he saw the smoke and called it in on the radio.

Top Homemade Instruments to Form Your Own Band

I just saw an awesome list of homemade instrument Instructables on a music blog called Terrible Love Songs - check it out! I've been in a couple of bands and have always tinkered with the idea of making my own instruments. Unfortunately they have never held together for long enough to take photos of (that's the bands and the instruments). Here are 6 instruments that don't look impossible to make and could start you off on your journey to discover the talent within.A Rule Organ"Hold the rule to the desk as tightly as possible to produce the best audio fidelity (read: twang) possible."Miniature Washtub Bass Made From Office Supplies"This is a great time killer and will probably annoy your co-workers (unless they've already made one themselves!)"Lap Steel Guitar out of a Pool Cue Case"string her up and plug her in! You'll need to play her using a guitar slide, or, to complete that bar room blues look, a shot glass."Cookie Tin Tambourine (Good name for a band)"Just find someone to join you in eating the cookies and emptying the bottles and it will be a very enjoyable evening."Horn From A Drinking Straw"The sounds produced range from a duck call to a flagulent."Cookie Tin Banjo"These banjos are fretless. I was surprised how easy they were to play."How To Write A Song"Even if the world doesn't get to hear it, you'll know that you did good work, and that's fulfilling enough to be well worth the attempt. Right?"How To Rap"like snoop dawg lol so to rap you need little diction and not a lot of pronunciation"Now you have no excuses. If you do manage to become famous (or not), please remember where you came from and post a video in the comments box.

I got a siren!

A little over a month ago, my dad got a siren on eBay. It's the Wolo Model 345, about halfway down the page. Note: if you want one, go through eBay, Wolo wants $64, but this was brand-new for $20. It's not Instructable-worthy, and I don't have enough pictures to make a Slideshow, so I'm using the Forums for their original use. We were originally going to put this on my mom's ZAP Xebra, because it's completely silent and we wanted a way to warn walkers of her approach, but she didn't like it, so I got it to put in out Ford Courier. Since it's electric, I only go 39 in a 40 mph-zone to save range, so I'm often cut off by people going 45. Being electric, the truck has no radiator, just a flat plate of steel. We were already going to paint it black, so we mounted the horn speaker in there. There is an instrument bay overhead, so I stuffed the control box inside an empty slot. Eventually I'll take off the plastic case and mount it in the aluminum sheet to make it much cleaner, but this is fine for now. There were already two extra switches that did nothing, but already had an always-hot line running to them, so I wired it in to that. It can do sirens, animal noises, or a PA. I'm leaving it set to a police-style siren, so if someone cuts me off, I can just flip the switch and give a short blast, then watch them look around for the police car. If I have more time, I can just use the PA to yell at them. Other potential use: I'm going to make a CD of engine sounds. That way I can make my electric sound like an idling Harley at a stoplight. Or a turbine engine. Or a semi. Or a whatever.

So if you purchased a used ambulance... What would you do with it?

I work at a private ambulance company, and I made friends with the head mechanic and found out he may sell me a used diesel ambulance, fully functioning, for a little more than $1000. In order to justify my purchase, I would need an idea of what I could construct out of the ambulance I would now have in my possession.  My first thought was: A-TEAM VAN REPLICA I would speak with a couple tech colleges and offer them the ambulance for a semester, free of charge, for them to train on. It would be a prime example of the real world of a diesel mechanic's future career. Then go to the same, or a new tech college and find the car detailing or modification department and let them create the projected A-TEAM replica van. I would not only let them use a fully operational vehicle to modify to their liking, I would also use my above average graphic arts skills, and work history in direct mail advertising, to design a mailing to put out for them promoting their school and department of it, and then show awesome before and after pictures of the ambulance, and use it as an attentioN-getter to draw new students into their programs. A-TEAM VAN, with paint mods and maybe diesel engine modifications. ...Or I could mount large speakers in the external cabinets that i could just open up and lock them at 45 degrees, and stand in the middle of the back doors with a microphone and a couple computers mixing dance music. ...The lights and sirens and PA horns are all still in it and working.... I am just trying to drum up some of your creative passions and make you get out your thinking caps to run ideas by me and see what I might be able to do with this new toy! Lets get the ball rolling! I say an A-TEAM van would be sweet... What do you think? See attd, pictures.
