Ideas and information on modular robotics specifically humionoid but not exclusively

Hello my name Ian Alex, I have a very early stage idea for a modular humioniod robotic development platform. I'm looking for information, a point in the right direction to all things modular robotics. Books, threads,forums, drunken scribblings on a napkin I don't mind. What I would really like to do is a open source collaboration, where people can make either the whole thing or just indavidual modules. What do you think? Great idea? Dumb? Totally unachievable? Battle Bots Contest!

So, if you've seen the movie Real Steel you know what i'm talking about. Real Steel is boxing, fighting and wrestling humanoid robots. I posted this contest because I wanted to see how many people can make a humanoid that works, or modify a humanoid hat you can buy. Zibits, mini robots (about 3 in. tall), are pretty cool, saying that they only go forward, or 360 degrees. You can hack em, fight em and play with them. Also, WOWWEE makes really cool humanoids to hack into, for example Full sized Robosapien and Femisapien. Tri-BOIT and Robo-ROVER. Post an Instructable with a video if you want to, and please make a step by step guide on how to make your battle bot. If you make it from scratch you have a higher chance of winning, if you hack a ZIbit or make a mini robot you might win the mini battle bot contest. Wowwee toys are big so those are the big robot humanoid contest. Be creative and express your ideas, and remember you always have a great chance of winning. The naming of the robot types were just an example of cheap stuff you can find in most stores, use whatever you'd like to make the ultimate humanoid robot contest. If there are a  lot of people there will be one , to three, maybe five winners, if there are less than 10, there will be multiple winner depending on size, type and what they do, but there will always be one grand prize winner. How to enter space orbit using raw humanpower!!!

Hi all! I was wondering what it would take and if it is even possible to reach space atmosphere from your backyard using nothing but humanoid musclepower to reach the outscirts of the earths atmosphere! to reduce weight i would suggest to put on a licht as can be space suit, strap on some oxigentanks and go, go GO! But, what device would be best suited for the job?\ And what would you "absolutely" need to reach outside of our atmosphere? Greetings earthlings!

How do you make an action figure or a model with plastic?

Http://media.herald-dispatch.com/blog/games/uploaded_images/BaldBullActionFigure-763214.jpgI and many others have ever wondered how to create those beautiful Third dimensional vessels of imagination without get a crumbly, inanimated or/and flaccid modelling clay and sigh at the creations of others or the lack of imagination of some commercial figures.Why, i in my frustration learned to create Plas-ti-li-ne, clay and paper figures with great detail and now i seek to learn (and im pretty sure im not alone in this) the way to create permanent models just like the one´s we see at toy stores, hobby´s shops and the internet. But some times for one or another reason we are unable to find someone in flesh and bone to teach us as in my case in wich i live in the middle of nowhere.If i just knew the way to create those models i would had a way to give great gifts, to teach others and see my toughts in form but i cant go at trial and error forever, so i beg you to teach how to create an articulated shape! /@_@/ what is the material to make figures?what is the secret to turn a piece of ductil and malleable material into hard beautiful soft feeling piece of plastic?The Pieces of an articulated figure (like a detailed humanoid shape) must be shaped all together and then dismantled ?the experience of shaping is similar of that of modelage?I wish i know!!!
